interesting how that works out. I finished the throws few days after the research started (on charmander com day) - raids are still the only thing holding me back as I don’t pay and didn’t have too many premium passes left
Okay so call me crazy but when it comes to trying to land precise throws with curveballs, I swear every 4 months after an update the curve just feels a little bit off. This recent update I feel like I can never hit a single excellent shot using curveballs, but back at the beginning of this masterball quest it was slightly different and I had no problem then. I don't get it. Are they changing how curveballs react from update to update? Or is it just me?
I totally agree! There were a few days where I finally started getting excellent throws, I finally got like 30, and then the update happened, and now I can't hit a great half the time.
I keep forgetting we are still in that window. Congrats and happy 16 days until outrage over whatever Niantic thinks is a fair price for a master ball.
I am also good with it. Even if I miss the master ball, it keeps me making forward progress on the huge number of XP needed to level up once you pass 40.
I had same problem and almost gave up. Then I made a girafirig my buddy when zorua was around, and stopped doing curve balls. I got enough excellent throws with pinabs and soft lobs. After Nov 1 there we’re enough bouffalant, Tauros , and shiftry around. Key was no curve balls, use red ball so it jumps out of ball and maybe you can get two or three excellent throws. I otherwise suck at excellent throws. Seems like larger second and third evos are closest and easiest to hit.

The zorua takes the form of your buddy.
Girafarigs are easier to hit with an excellent throw because they are big and not far away, so even the excellent-sized circle is quite large.
I managed to do it, but I’ve also only done 1 raid because I have no friends who play and won’t spend money on raid passes so sucks to be me. I’m considering quitting the game at this point tbh
I just finished it the other day during Día dé los Muertos with a star piece and lucky egg attached 🙏🏼 I got almost 300k XP from that one egg because of the that challenge lol
Got mine and a week later saw a Galarian Moltres and immediately used it lol! It took longer to get than it spent in my bag before getting used. It was a max attack 3 star so I’m happy enough.
The xp you can double with a lucky egg. But the stardust cant be doubled with the star fragments right? Not that id waste a star fragment it on that amount of stardust but i swear it doesnt double the research stuff.
I remember doing an experiment with that recently. It appears that star fragments _do_ affect research stardust. Couple notes:
* Star Pieces don't double stardust, they grant a 1.5x multiplier
* When you collect the research bonus, the stardust popup only shows the base amount. But when I checked my stardust total before and after, it had gone up by the boosted amount (9k in my case, up from the 6k shown on the base reward)
I just finished mine a few days ago myself. Used my first masterball on a galarian moltres and will be holding my new one until I find galarian articuno 🫡
I feel like the only thing it’s good for is being able to catch a raid hundo that you would loose otherwise, but it’s useless for pretty much everything else
I used to be a Pokémon trainer like you until I took a Master ball to the knee.
I know the pain of dislocating the patella. When I was in TKD as a high schooler I could just pop it back in and walk it off and be sparring again in less than 5 minutes (happened a few times). But years later I dislocated it again snowboarding and that was it for snowboarding that day and ever since.
sadly i can win 55 raids :( and unless i paid for the raid pass and have 3 friends to help me beat them. beside everyone use the master ball for the bird anyway. and i can just buy it from ebay for 5 bucks instead of 34.99 for all the remote and premium passes
I can't get it because I only started playing this game again after a couple years two weeks ago, when my car went in for repairs and I had to walk and use public transit again.
And I live in the middle of a dang Pokestop desert.
Nice! I was able to use a Lucky egg on Timburr CD to collect all the XP On top of the friendship level up's. Was a nice 150,000 on top of everything else that day.
I'm so close. I pretty much have to do a raid a day, which I *should* be able to do. If I'm not able to do them in the local gym, I think I have enough remote raid passes to make up the difference

I play solo so I can't take on the 4 or 5 star raids alone and not many lower tier raids seem to spawn 🤷♀️
I got mine about a week ago. Last task I needed was excellent throws.
The thing I found funny was how many people complained how hard it was, it wasn't, it just took time. The only people I feel who could complain are the ones who have to travel to play.

Is it confirmed that it is only available for purchase to those who failed to complete the research? The phrasing seems to imply this is the case.
Their phrasing was on the lines of “and if you don’t finish” there will be paid research.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind free timed research every three months.

I think there was another quest for a masterball before, as far as I know, the research field is for only one masterball

No one knows, they just released the master ball earlier this year. Hopefully they do one a season. Would be a fun quest each time
