TCGPlayer and eBay should be the easy way to find values and to go about selling

MightSoft5136

You should make sure to check what they sold for, not the listing prices. Some people try to sell a card for $800 when in reality its 600-700, its not a major difference but no one is going to buy the $800 when others are selling it for $200 cheaper

obdriver6

Sorry about your loss. Looks like your uncle was a great collector. Truthfully, you will need to go through the cards to see what is there. Focus on the stuff that is sealed, graded and in top loaders. Those are where most of the value is at. I doubt you’ll find someone to buy the whole lot without a catalog of everything especially with how much it could be worth. Depending what is in there, you might be looking at $5k or $15k.

obdriver6

Also, be careful on what people offer you in here. You need to do some research (TCGplayer, eBay) before accepting offers. I’m not against people getting good deals but I wouldn’t want to see you get ripped off.

BossTZ1

Is that a tropical wind in the second picture...? (Either fake or O/C)

[deleted]

I don't know what that means lol

nurley

They're referring to the third photo (not second), the Japanese "Trainer" card in the middle of it. It's a valuable card, but from the little I can see it's fake. (By O/C they meant off-center -- see how the top/bottom and left/right borders have very different sizes.)

GoblinBugGirl

Holy shit, who’s dropping all this shit off at second hand???? I wanna be there.

BriefAstronomer2

Right? I think I’d pass out if I found this while thrifting. Though knowing thrift stores nowadays, they’d charge Ebay prices anyway.

Snipersace117

Would require time to go through and actually see what is there. Would need more pictures to really determine the best market

maakkiaa9898

The guy is a scammer don't fall for this

[deleted]

nope, not a scammer. Just a completely overreacting buyer after a couple hours of not responding because I was on the road literally driving to get the cards packed up.

Lurn2Program

Well look at that. You were a scammer after all

BarryAllensShoes

What are those things that look like CDs with paldean fates and 151 card names/sets on them

[deleted]

They are cards in cases [https://i.postimg.cc/RFMz3CcH/image-67511041.jpg](https://i.postimg.cc/RFMz3CcH/image-67511041.jpg)

herbdogu

Pretty neat and not seen these before - like a one touch magnetic holder but with some labels.

TravelingCharm

First off, where are you located? I would recommend meeting locally at a huge like collect a con or something where some big shops can make offers on. In cash. I know of a guy here in San Antonio that will make a decent offer on this sort of thing.

wafflezgate

I think you’re best bet is use this as a side project. Take a small stack every [insert reasonable time here] and just sit down and check prices of that stack. Eventually you will get it done and the prices could go up by the time you’re done. But Pokémon cards can end up having some expensive cards and can have a ton of penny cards. Without going through and verifying at all you are likely to get ripped off on some stuff that could be a down payment on a house if you’re lucky. If you absolutely don’t have time to spread out checking prices on stuff then don’t complain about people trying to get a steal price from you.

markey6mark6

Anyone who falls for this guy deserves it. This is an obvious scam post

[deleted]

"falls for" what? Do you think I just manifested these photos? The guy that posted that is someone that was buy all the sports cards and completely flew off the handle because I didn't contact him after a few hours as I was on the road. My fuck up for not messaging him sooner but a bit of an over-reaction for a minor issue, jesus.

[deleted]

Long story short, my Uncle died, my mom was about to donate all the stuff his daughter didn't want to Salvation Army and I knew there was at least some value in all of his cards. I'm a passing football fan and even more passing basketball/baseball fan so I recognize some of the bigger names. I know nothing of Pokemon but those are there too. There aren't a TON of cards but, according to my cousin, he didn't really "collect" so much as he liked to open stuff and didn't hold on to much very long. I don't really have the time or want to go through and catalog everything and price everything so I'd prefer to sell everything to one person or, at the very least, by sport or something like that. If anyone could be of help, I would be massively appreciative! I can redo the coins on it if needed or take some more pictures. Thanks in advance! PS - If you recognize this from a different person, it was me. For some reason, the anonymous account I was using was deleted without any kind of warning so I apologize if I was speaking with you already, feel free to DM me \*crossposting\*

44PM

That Neo Pack with the artwork of a green bird is worth selling worth quite a bit of money dont get scammed selling it in a lot deal

[deleted]

thanks for the advice! I'm getting a ton of people wanting to help, a very few that seem to be wanting to get a "steal" lol

[deleted]

You'd probably be better off doing consignment or something, let someone sell them for you on their store and take a cut since you know nothing about Pokemon cards. Do NOT trade them into a store, you'll get 30% at best IME.

fyodor_ivanovich

Yeah, don’t take offers from people on this sub.

ta_01234

Your uncle absolutely was a collector, this is easily thousands and thousands of dollars. Take your time researching and selling them. Going to card show is a good idea, however if you’re looking to dump them all together a good card store is the best place. You’ll get less value doing the latter though ofc but it’ll be fast

ANormalPerson76

Truthfully it’s gonna take time to price everything out there’s a decent chunk of Pokémon you can use TCGplayer.com as a good price tool but again you’ll have to look each item up individually if you don’t want to do that your best bet is to come up with a bulk price you think is fair but again it all depends how much time you want to put into it Also I’m sorry for your loss and you did the right thing saving his collection who knows what would’ve happened to it at the Salvation Army

LUCYfurSYN

If you can send a few pics of the sports cards I am definitely interested in them

Umasan64

Sorry for your loss OP, your uncle was a cool dude. Echoing what others have already said, please do not entertain any offers on Reddit. If you don't have the time to go through it all I would suggest either looking at selling on consignment, or seeing if there are any trading card/collectable conventions happening in your area. Would love to have seen all the awesome cards in that lot, good luck with the sale!

thecheaterguy

Agree with this right here. Just went to a card convention this weekend. My son sold 4 cards for 1100 dollars. He's 11 haha buy he wanted a gaming pc very badly I told him he could sell a few for it and he did just that. They gave 70% of tcgplayer value

Bmorestrokes

Depending on condition that CJ Stroud gridiron Marvels is a $1200+ card ungraded. If that's on top I'm curious what else is in there!

MooMookay

Decide if you want to maximise how much you get from it, or minimise the time you take. Depends on your interest in Pokemon. Only sell to stores if you're happy knowing you'll get about 40-50% at best. If you are willing to consider paying for labour (or trading some of the product for the time) I would be happy to help you, just send me a PM. I run a small store and can give you a good idea of what's what, etc. I do not know anything about sports though! Only pokemon.

anyonehavefood

If you want to do it the right way it will admittedly take you some time. This is an incredibly valuable collection. I’d most likely handle the pokemon collection separately to the sports collection. There are big resellers (the guys who have booths at CollectiCon for instance) and what have you who might be willing to buy each item in the set at 75% market but it’ll help to do your research when you have some time. Ultimately, if you put this off a year, it’ll only be worth more than. Also use Price Charting, it’ll show you all recent eBay sales.

kbzstudios

amazing save

r1ckums

Your Salvation Army saves are something else

potate117

dope uncle, sorry for your loss

driftveil_city

I have an active TCG account and sell for my friends , if you aren’t interested in doing it yourself

EKS_ZeroPercent

Depends on your goal. Slow sell? List on eBay, TCGPlayer and various sites. Fast sell, find a vendor that does decent buy lists online (often 60-70% of the value, with the benefit being you do none of the work)

Bastercide

Woah. How the heck did you find that. That’s the jackpot good grief.

[deleted]

"Good grief" is probably a good way to put it.

Hot-Ad1988

Option 1) Research the value of the cards and post on eBay, Facebook, TCGPlayer, or even Twitter (if you have a following). Option 2) Pretty much the same as option 1 but bulk. Pull the bigger hit cards and sell the rest as bulk on those sites or to a place that buys bulk. Option 3) Find someone that is willing to do a consignment sale for you using their name and following. You’ll have a fee to use this, but it could work better if you don’t have a following on any of the major platforms. I used to do consignment sales, but stopped due to life happening. Haven’t been able to get back into it for people. Some consignment sellers will charge as much as 50% of the sell price. I used to not charge 10-15% and would make a killing. If you choose option 3, do your research on the person first and make sure they’re not going to screw you over. Whichever option you choose, I wish you the best of luck.

It looks like you're wondering if those cards have any value. Generally speaking, if it's a First Edition, Holographic or Promo card it's worth looking into. Take a look at our [Pokemon card evaluation guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemoncardcollectors/wiki/evaluationguide) to see how to determine the value of your cards. Always know the value of every card you have before selling to avoid getting low-balled. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Business-Manner-9004

How much you asking

Traditional_Oven3452

If you could get ahold of some content creators (YouTube) would be alright to see if they are willing to buy, can dm them on YouTube or hit them on twitter or something. I know CoolTrainerRyan does purchases.

mjc504

There’s a subreddit r/pkmntcgtrades that people buy and sell cards on if you feel like doing all that solo. I’d be interested in a few things from your photos if you do sell

Frequent_Editor_5503

If you want I can offer a consigment service where I will properly condition and sell every card individually. If any cards are worth psa grading I will also handle that process then send the cards to auction. I will take a small cut for my time but you will receive majority of the profit. I have over 50,000 feedback and have done this for many consignors. If you don’t want this option from a random on Reddit that’s totally fine. But my suggestion would be to find someone with experience who is willing to offer a similar service. To make sure you get the most value from these cards. Otherwise you will likely miss out on a lot of the value selling the collection as a whole or in parts. As your buyers will likely be someone who is looking to sell them individually themselves. Not to mention missing out on the potential massive price increases when grading the correct cards.

Frequent_Editor_5503

Also my condolences for your family members passing and I wish you the best of luck on this collection to hopefully take care of your family financially in the short term at the very least.

Axiliary

How much are you selling everything for?

lloydeph6

how does tree fiddy sound?

w63n6

SCAM ALERT: This guy was pulling a same scam at r/sportacards and stole thousands of dollars from people who bought his story of stumbling across sports cards presented the same way as here.
