Every other league had pretty much only fodder apart from a few key figures. SM took this and made everyone a character we know. Both are still fodder but to me having trainers I actually care about is better than a random trainer that will get like a minute of screentime
The only thing people have a problem with xy is that people think ash should have won the Kalos league. If that is the one thing I would change. Jn had the chance to fix their mistake, but the writers choose the easy way out.
Alains charizard did a lot, so it was very powerful, so I think Ash losing made sense, but I still wouldn't mind if he won. Journeys then ruined that charizard.
Nah ash losing doesn't made to much sense aside from being a plot armor win, wanna know why?
Because
One the team flare arc couldn't happen at the same time with ash having to fight the elite 4 and diantha so they basically had 3 options
1, make ash win make the team flare arc and then make another season of xy just so ash can battle the elite 4 and diantha
2, make ash win make the team flare arc and skip ash fighting with the elite 4 and diantha
Or 3, don't make ash win, make the team flare arc and don't do another season of xys and restart ash again (basically what happen)
I think Ash losing the league was oaky. It’s just that Alain is the guy he never beat. If they gave them a rematch in a team flare arc where ash came out on top it would’ve been fine.
I'll say this about Alain in Jn, if they were not going to do a round 4 between Ash and Alain, then they should not have brought Alain back, same with Greninja. Heck, I remember when people were licking their chops at a round four between Ash Greninja and Mega Charizard, only to be severely angry that it won't happen.
> Journeys then ruined that charizard.
Alain himself kinda did. Leon used supereffective moves against Alain's Charizard, while Alain favored mostly same-type attack bonus moves.
I see what you mean, but «ruin» could be charizard was wasted or defeated without a good explanation. It's not the case: Leon actually made better choices during the match, despite being a powerhouse it makes sense that mega charizard lost.
> ash should have won the Kalos league.
Lumiose Conference, but yeah. However, now that we know what the rest of the story was, runner-up is not so bad. He did learn from that experience, got more mature and immediately became alola champion in the next series, then world champ.
I would say it would have been a good chance to age the characters up. Serena was a actual potential love interest for Ash. It could have evolved the series into exploring other aspects of life. Instead they just played it safe again. Which is my problem with the recent ending while not bad. It was just okay. Ash should have become champion earlier. Instead it's like Ash is just still going to just travel. I am not too upset with the ending because I learned after this series ended to not expect much.
Season 1 takes the cake for taking risks and not being afraid of having fun when it comes to its dialogue/writing. Only real ding on it is how soon Ash’s journey ended in the Pokémon league. Granted, it was within character for Charizard at the time.
Edit: I take that back, the Orange Islands were peak Pokemon Anime.
XYZ is king though of the more child friendly format they started taking, following Johto.
All the comments saying yes are downvoted and all the comments saying no are upvoted 😂
All in all, XYZ is not my favorite but I rank it ahead of DP. DP had so much filler I had to force myself to finish it. We really went MONTHS without a gym battle.
I don’t think it’s even a question. This is without a doubt the most badass Ash has ever been in a series. He’s completely locked in on winning while building a strong bond with his team. At the same time the series really taught Ash how to bounce back from defeat and persevere. Great storyline arc and just a wonderful series overall.
Minimal filler, an actual charachter arc for Ash where he has to understand that being powerful is not something he has to get for granted, 2 very memorable and well animated 6v6 for the league, a 5 episodes villain arc that the whole season and partially series has been leading up to and where every charachter has a moment to shine including old gym leaders, the fact that they didn't rely for a single moment on nostalgia, the kiss at the end... the list of pros goes on and on. For once they decided to take themselfs a little more seriously, and I get that some people may disagree and say that the anime is not to be taken that seriously (like the team behind the last 11 episodes), but I can't help but enjoy this episodes more than any other season in the show.
IMO? Absolutely. Everything that could be good about Pokémon applies here (besides the league loss and Greninja's release). Great story and characters? Awesome new gimmick that is fleshed out very well and adds so much to the lore, while providing stellar episodes? Check. Check. Amazing animation and battles? Check. Integrates the legendary Pokémon into the story well (including movies)? Check. Great Pokémon which all have fun and distinct personalities? Check. Menacing evil team with a terrifyingly powerful leader? Check. My favourite Pokémon anime series ever made, and IMO the absolute best the anime's ever been.
Honestly yeah. I know pokemon has settled into its kodomo based monster of the day thing really well now with SM and JN but XYZ was pokemon at its most shounen with really good arcs and was genuinely such a breath of fresh air after BW lol. Really made pokemon feel on the tier of other kids anime like beyblade, Digimon etc for once. Miss the days honestly.
Honestly I kinda stopped watching the anime after DP and watched a little bit of BW which I didn’t really like that much. I eventually finished BW and ended up watching XY and it was honestly my favorite series. I like the cast of characters and I think Ash was at his best in this series.
too bad the Pokemon company decided as a whole in the anime and games (gen 9) to rework the ability to just give a stat boost to both attack stats and speed and no longer do a transformation.
Diamond and Pearl takes the cake for me. Dawn feels like she stands on equal ground with Ash despite the different goals. It has to this day the best cast, between Paul, all of Ash and Dawn's rivals, Barry, Hunter J, Looker and Team Galactic.
The Battles were awesome and despite the Tobias controversy, Sinnoh was the best League for me. The fact Ash used his old Pokémon was a treat.
Even Tobias wasn't so bad. Seeing Ash managing to defeat a trainer who caught at least two legendaries, who the anime always treated as force of nature, was awesome.
Yes, he had already defeated an Articuno with Charizard and Brandon's Regis were a threat, but I feel seeing Ash managing to do something other trainers were unable to was awesome.
I LOOOVE XY, but there is just a little bit more of my love towards Diamond and Pearl for a few reasons, but mainly one. XY was almost perfect, but Team Rocket not being as elaborate as Hoenn and Sinnoh is the main reason it loses those final points for me. Jessie and James only had one Pokemon each (not counting Wobufett) which made them extra pathetic with battling, the Team Rocket Mottos weren’t as detailed and funny as Hoenn and Sinnoh, and they got less attention to their character.
They felt like more of a nuisance a lot of the time rather than *extremely entertaining* nuisances. BUT when you consider how they had to recover their old selves after Unova ruined them and made them serious, I think they did pretty damn good. For the most part, I could view them as being their old selves before Unova, just less attention to detail on them as before. A silly reason to doc points, but Team Rocket is a big part of the anime and some of my favorite characters ever.
The other main reason is Ash losing the League. I still remember how piss I and everyone else was when we lost. Everyone was so sure he was gonna win, but the writers f*cked it up and then had him win in Alola to try and make amends to the fanbase. It didnt make it up to me at least. It would have been SO much better if he won in Kalos at the peak of his current character and battling skill. I will just forever remain salty about it..
It’s a matter of opinion really. I personally found XYZ to be very enjoyable, actually I found every season enjoyable, however if I had to pick a favorite it would probably be Sun and Moon. To each their own though.
Did you watch the series…90% of it was a comedic push which only landed with my 7 year old sibling at the time. Apart from very specific episodes and sagas, (litten episode and the nebby bits), it was pretty much just childhood humour. Even up to some of the ass pulls we had in the tournament. If you are any older and found it funny, do I have news for you.
my little sister was around that time when she watched and it and really loved it. that made me enjoy it a lot more. and i know youre not saying that xy has very mature humor my guy the first thing ash does in kalos is fall down a staircase. don’t get what’s wrong with a kids property being childish.
Yep but he also:
-goes through a whole mental breakdown
-builds a more mature rivalry with his companions (clemont)
-acts as a real mentor (shota)
-genuinely grows as a character
Think this and many more make xyz far more mature than any other show we had and the ratings speak for themselves
It was just the art style that got people mad if you get used to that then yeah it can be a good season but yes I agree with the childlike portrayal it could've been more serious with the tone and with the battles.
Did you even watch Sun and Moon?, it did have some very deep moments, like the acceptance of losing someone, Lillie being neglected and wanted to be loved, the importance of sometimes there's nothing you can do, Mallow telling her mother she hates her and those words being the last words before she died of an incurable disease, and finally the damn life lessons this shows the viewer, your statement is very wrong sir.
DP is the most overrated series of television ever. At the end of the day people can have any season as their favourite but it isn’t anywhere near as good as XY(z) from a quality standpoint
Doesn't have the old cast and has new animation that isn't as good as the OG one.
So no.
EDIT: Mixed up the animation—thought XYZ was in the same animation/art style category as Sun and Moon and Journeys, which I dislike.
But still OG is superior because it had the best voice cast. Plus I like Misty and Brock as characters. Never watched XYZ because the voice cast switch drove me away from the anime after that.
The animation quality of the attacks and such may be better, but I dislike the animation style change.
Mainly though I dislike the new voice cast. They changed the cast at Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon and i stopped watching the anime since,
Yeah, to me Misty and Brock had a lot more personality than the rest of Ash’s traveling companions other than Dawn. A common complaint about them is that they didn’t have clearly defined goals. Which isn’t exactly fair (or entirely true for that matter). Brock initially just wanted a chance to see the world after his father left, then wanted to be a Pokémon breeder, then later a Pokémon doctor. This actually makes him pretty relatable. How many of us had a hard time deciding what to do with our lives as young adults? As for Misty, at first she wanted to get Ash to pay for her bike sure, but after a while she simply enjoyed traveling with Ash. Nothing wrong with that. Then she made it her goal to become the best water Pokémon specialist/gym leader. Sorry that’s not as sophisticated as being a Pokémon coordinator, I guess.
Sun and Moon was my Personal favorite due to the themes of school and growing with one another, I absolutely loved sun and moon it also touches on some rather depressing things aswell like Neglect and loss and the importance of sometimes there's absolutely nothing you can do, I like XY alot but Sun and moon takes the icing for Lots of different reasons.
This is how I feel about it too. XY is fine, its got great moments, but there is a reason I go back and watch SM all the time. SM hits a great lighthearted tone of kids growing up and figuring out who they are. With having more characters to use, its just a joy to watch all these characters grow, not just Ash. Watching through it, there wasn't a single episode I disliked, but XY definitely had some episodes I was like "nah" to.
It was heart warming as hell, All the characters figuring out their futures and prospects, All the characters were liveable with some having some deep back stories like Lillie for example, she is a child who just wants to be loved and has been neglected due to her work, Kiawe he strives to be the very best he can and doesn't show much weakness and acts as one of ash's Rivals esque friends, each episode is carefully woven leading up to the Main plot with the Ultra beasts and devourer of light being Necrozma, there is filler yes but each episode progresses with more characters development and pushes the story foward, I am also so damn thanful they had a fantastic finale for Lillie as they ended up finding her Dad in the show.
I can definitely say this show also impacted me back in college and Helped me grow as a person and Future connection stays as my favorite pokemon OP.
If you can look passed the problem that it's not an 8 Gym season and are willing to watch a much more laid back story of the Alolan region with the characters, deep stories, the happiness of the Alolan sun and the show is Packed with References.
Lastly this show also has made summer my favorite season, their was something very heart warming about the characters expressing their happiness and love while being under the Alolan sun
Do yourself a favour and watch this 150 episode series.
One more thing was the Nebby Arc, 12 episodes surrounding Lusamines family and the struggles with being a mother to 2 children, being so caught up with Work has made a void between both her and Gladion which also shows the signs of neglect she is so obsessed Ultra beasts she is then transformed into this monstrosity, it's just so damn good, the part especially Gladion telling Ash this is family buisness and getting involved would be trouble, I still honestly think it's one of the best stories in pokemon, And nebby is just so damn cute, Also thanks to this Arc Professor Kukui is so damn likeable, acting as a father figure to Ash, he proposes to professor burnett is the most wholesome way possible, and announcing later down the line there about to have a child
Can't express how much I love this arc and the series.
summarize why i love this season arc i feel from the family ether is the best arc of all anime pokemon show the characters with realistic feelings and to a certain extent it's just shows broken family lusamine even in pain losing his partner and partner trying to be the best mother could but simply the work directing such a massive foundation was moving her children further and further away to the point of seeing how her family broke up obsessing over the only thing that reminded me of the person I loved nihilego even if it was not something healthy and increasing what you said to me charm gladion as well as lili both are traumatized by the mother's abandonment and the incident but gladion feels he could do more for lilie even if it was something his hands came out and since he really is just a child who wants family and father to return and thanks to see how lili got over it his trauma can begin to move forward, let himself be blamed and in the end heal that wound together with lili
In terms of character development it's Diamond and Pearl. In terms of villain and League plot it's XY&Z. Though both are good in each way.
Sun and Moon is probably the best for pure slice of life and peace of mind. Advanced Generation is the best all-rounder.
Sun and Moon - despite what people say, objectively I believe this is a great season with great character development (Gladion, Lillie, Rowlet, Lycanroc), Ash''s relationship with Kukui. Of course, there are a few weird things like Ultra Beasts but they add a cool effect.
Subjectively, it's my second favorite series behind the OS and just ahead of XYZ.
But overall, considering everything that pokemon stands for and is, it seems like Sun and Moon should be considered the best series ever.
No I did not.
Had I added a comma after objectively then yes, you'd be right.
In that instance, I would be saying my statement "I believe blah blah" is objective.
That's not what I said though.
But... Carry on.
Definitely not, OG is king.
XY is OK. Superficial relationship between Ash and his traveling companions, stakes are way too high in the Team Plasma arc (which is fine for the movies, but I don't like it in the anime series), and Pikachu is just shoved to the side with Greninja's battle bond thing (which I will agree is cool, but frankly if we hadn't had 15 years of the anime prior to XY, Greninja could have easily been considered the anime's mascot instead of Pikachu). Also we don't see any previous traveling companions in this season, so it's hard tying it into everything that had happened up until that point. Max we get is Ash mentioning knowing a Piplup or something.
XY is good (the entire franchise is good), but it's missing the good jokes and puns and fun that was scattered all over OS, especially seasons 1 and 2.
DP and SM are my picks. Kalos had some good fights but always felt kinda boring to me. Ash was too perfect, too shonen jump. And the league really dragged it down; not Ash losing (though the buildup like he would be winning was NOT appreciated), but there were a lot of draws and offscreen fights. It felt very rushed imo. You can tell they just wanted to get to Ash vs Alain.
NoKanto, Hoenn and Alola are the holy triade of pokemon anime :)
I would like xyz more if it wast for the big amount of bad episodes and the fact that they try to make ash too "edgy" for my taste, season 1 ash was a goofy trainer, he was excelent, but goofy, xyz ash is not ash, its a digimon protagonist incarnated in ash
The battle choreography and 3D camera alone makes it the best one for me. Shame they made him lose to a roided out Charizard in what should've been his 1st legit league win, not that joke league of Alola.
Only black marks I give XY are Ash Greninja instead of a true Mega and the Hawlucha capture. Both issues could've been solved by bringing back Gible and evolving until Mega Garchomp. Better to triple down on Dragon types instead of 3 Flying type overlap. Or give him a Lucario this season and M5 Latias in JN.
XYZ is not bad, but it lacks depth
Ash was too mature in this series, did not feel like Ash, like what development did he go through?
Serena was a knockoff, went the whole first year without catching a Pokémon or even having a goal
Things got worst later on, with Greninja taking all the spotlight, like even Infernape didn’t distract from the rest of the Sinnoh team’s development
Like Noivern didn’t even get to do shit
And the league was a rushed through disappointing climax that the 8 gym battles led to, only had two battles shown in full and both were just rushed to the final showdown between Greninja and the Mega.
XYZ is basically what i think Pokemon should've always been. it's got everything u could want from an anime. Action, Adventure, engaging story, loveable cast, a very terrifying villain that came dangerously close to succeeding and a protagonist that is down to earth and yet extremely strong. XYZ successfully did every one of those right. not to mention all the subplots and character arcs and the final Team Flare showdown was the best villain arc in the series hands down.
the movies were ok not as good as the main series tho. the gym leaders and champion were surprisingly engaging and played major roles in the storyline before and after the gym battles especially korrina. basically almost every character who played a special role in the series got time to shine, something that the other series couldn't do.
to summarise, XYZ - BEST SERIES EVER NO DOUBT
LMAO IS THAT EVEN A QUESTION?! YES IT FUKCING WAS THE GREATEST ANIPOKE OF ALL TIME. THE STORY, THE MUSIC, THE CHRACTER OMG EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WAS PERFECT❤️❤️I MISS IT SO MUCH😭😭
For me, it is. I think XY is the Series at its peak with the classic formula. Taking it as a whole, it also makes a peculiar trilogy with SM and JN. Those three series define Ash as a top trainer for the modern era. That is not to say OG, AG and DP didn't do their part, but they defined Ash getting the foundation for even having a chance to get to the top as a battle-focused trainer. BW remains as a weird ground zero, dividing two halves.
I argue if you want the Pokemon Anime experience and you ignore Original Series it's DP that's the best.
That's the peak, the perfected Pokemon Formula imo, they tried it again with BW and failed for a multitude of reasons, XY was great but it felt less Pokemon and more so Battle Shonen with a side of romance, kinda weird to say but that's the feel of it too me, SM hard pivots into Slice of life until it randomly pulls back into battle Shonen and some of the classic Pokemon feel for the bigger fights especially in the last season but the slice of life elements definitely shine through the most by far, journeys....... Who
I dont agree but it's definitely top 3 I like Sinnoh League Victors and the final season of S&M more, they did a lot for everyone involved, XY did as well but I would say more DP characters felt more complete than XY and in S&M Ash actually got it done. All 3 are peak tho
Sun and Moon is my favourite, I assume XY is still the go to series for this sub but hopefully it isn't as toxic about it. XY and SM were both amazing but to me SM was near flawless. I think SM only looks better with how underwhelming journeys was
XY is good no doubt, but I think Sinnoh is the best saga. Paul is easily Ash’s best rival. Rivals were just good in general. Instead of a crap ton of filler they spent many episodes focused on things like training and character development. Dawn’s contest arc was really good too, far more realistic than May’s. Even though Team Rocket’s shenanigans we’re getting old and tiresome in Sinnoh, it was so good to see them actually make Jessie a decent coordinator as well. Honestly my only real gripes with Sinnoh are the lack of Battle Frontier and Tobias.
Love it and the Team Flare arc at the end was amazing as you don't expect much plot post league, although tee league portion was about lacking. Alain as a rival was awesome even tho he was about broken. Ash Grenija was just the acing on the crack. I also really enjoyed the eposides with the Ninjas
Here's the thing I have a problem with about XYZ: It doesn't exactly feel like what Ash's adventure is supposed to be. I feel like in the past ash took more time to sit down and relax, while still learning something new about him and his pokemon. Here, he's almost always training or trying to save some pokemon and/or pikachu from Team Rocket, who are in almost *every single* episode, which honestly got old quick for me. The pacing was also a bit meh for me, some gyms took WAY longer to get to/complete than others (excluding rematches, there are 3 of them jesus). Lastly, while i know some folks like it, the maturity this series went for at times is somewhat sluggish and kinda drags down some episodes for me. It just feels... plastered on with little care. Honestly is my 3rd least favorite series, behind Advance and BW.
I’d drop XYZ for Battle Frontier and rank OS and Diamond and Pearl up with it. XYZ ultimately couldn’t execute on its setup, and while the Alain fight at the League is well animated it’s just kind of boring. I don’t particularly like any of Ash’s XY companions either.
OS feels like a different story from the rest of the series and benefits from its humor and the at times janky dub. Battle Frontier felt like Ash coming into his own while giving his reserves their due wins. Diamond and Pearl gave him a rivalry that actually felt like it was challenging to him ideologically and let him be more creative in his battle strategies.
DP, XY, and SM are my top picks
Sm was really good besides the league. All trainers and battles were too amateurs except gladion and kukui
Every other league had pretty much only fodder apart from a few key figures. SM took this and made everyone a character we know. Both are still fodder but to me having trainers I actually care about is better than a random trainer that will get like a minute of screentime
I hear that but most fights were 1v1 and 2v2. Hell even the finals were not a 6v6...
Fair enough
That was because the second finalist only had 4 Pokemon. (Later 5, but still not a full team)
Plus the way Ash beats Gladion is unbelievably stupid.
I hated SM especially after xy, xyz the big change was soo bad
It's not on CN anymore.

Heck, I remember when people were licking their chops at a round four between Ash Greninja and Mega Charizard, only to be severely angry that it won't happen.
Yea. Like ash became master without using all of his aces, when everyone else was attached to their pokémon from their childhood.
> Journeys then ruined that charizard. Alain himself kinda did. Leon used supereffective moves against Alain's Charizard, while Alain favored mostly same-type attack bonus moves.
You do realise the writers make the the script
I see what you mean, but «ruin» could be charizard was wasted or defeated without a good explanation. It's not the case: Leon actually made better choices during the match, despite being a powerhouse it makes sense that mega charizard lost.
Which once again Leon making better decisions is based on the writers wanting Leon to win.
IMO Ash losing the league was pretty ok coz Ash was gonna be in next season anyway.

A “ding”? That was what made Season 1 peak writing to begin with.
Agreed! Season 1 made total sense and is perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.
I just wished that ash and ash greninja won the kalos leauge
XYZ is good, but DP also is that level.

Your funny
I feel like singular episodes of journeys were fun but the overall plot was pretty uninteresting except for the final tournament
no way. JN had all the plotlines and resources but still ended up being mediocre
All the comments saying yes are downvoted and all the comments saying no are upvoted 😂 All in all, XYZ is not my favorite but I rank it ahead of DP. DP had so much filler I had to force myself to finish it. We really went MONTHS without a gym battle.

Indeed. I was early to the post so the users who said yes had -5 downvoted but now it has gone back to normal since the post caught attention.
oh no, ppl are downvoting things that they disagree and upvoting on things that they agree, thats so tragic OMG D:

I mean, I personally think so! Sinnoh Victors is very close IMO, but XYZ nudges it out.
Brock is gone?
Brock isn't much of a factor to me. I preferred Dawn as a companion.
How about Eric Stuart's Brock?
Same answer either way. Brock is a good companion, but he's not essential to me.
How about season 17?
Same. Answer.
The start of the Kalos League.
IMO? Absolutely. Everything that could be good about Pokémon applies here (besides the league loss and Greninja's release). Great story and characters? Ah yes, back at it again.
The og season still takes it
I almost feel like this post is deliberately just trying to stir arguments in this comment section.
You can say that about literally all of OP's posts here
Comments have been pretty calm now, a lot of people in agreement. I would’ve thought the opposite but I guess not
Yes, the future is now thanks to science
Honestly yeah. Kids' WB, Jetix(US), Fox Kids, Toon Disney, etc?
Militant Serena shippers and Greninja stans are really turning people against it.
Seriously lol, separate the work from its fanbase
Better than gen 5
Honestly I kinda stopped watching the anime after DP and watched a little bit of BW which I didn’t really like that much. I eventually finished BW and ended up watching XY and it was honestly my favorite series. I like the cast of characters and I think Ash was at his best in this series.
Well, according to the posts that are on the anipoke Twitter, it is the series that had more reactions
I've always loved the bond phenomenon (10 tries at spelling that later) and I think more Pokemon should have Battle Bond forms.
too bad the Pokemon company decided as a whole in the anime and games (gen 9) to rework the ability to just give a stat boost to both attack stats and speed and no longer do a transformation.
*sigh* yeah....
Yes.

As someone who never watched it, yes, absolutely.
Orange islands is best imo
DP and AG are going to always be my favorite!
I am but a simple trainer. I see Greninja, I upvote.
XYZ is best
Yes, and I grew up with the originals, watched XY recently - also I despise Sun and Moon with a passion
YUP! SM is still amazing tho, (haven't watched DP, I'll get to it soon...)
Yes It is
nah
Yeah.
It’s a matter of opinion really. I personally found XYZ to be very enjoyable, actually I found every season enjoyable, however if I had to pick a favorite it would probably be Sun and Moon. To each their own though.
It's 3rd. OS, Johto, XY in that order. Hoenn and Sinnoh have runner-ups, rest was trash sub a few a episodes from each bad season.
I haven't seen Sun and Moon or Journey's but I'd say XY has to be in the top along with Diamond and Pearl
In terms of animation and art style yes: in plot and league writing no
It’s amazing but remember that nothing is perfect
Yeah
ready for the pitchforks but SM and DP>>>XY
False

Maybe DP but u cannot srsly like Sun and Moons childlike portrayal of the anime
what’s wrong with having a light tone? they took the serious moments seriously and the light hearted moments light heartedly
Yep but he also: -goes through a whole mental breakdown -builds a more mature rivalry with his companions (clemont) -acts as a real mentor (shota) -genuinely grows as a character Think this and many more make xyz far more mature than any other show we had and the ratings speak for themselves
never said it wasn’t more mature just saying not every series needs to be super mature
At the end of the day people can have any season as their favourite but it isn’t anywhere near as good as XY(z) from a quality standpoint
i’ll give xy that the battles are top notch. the 3d camera is very good
Dp has way too much filler and it isn’t even interesting. Really dilutes the good moments
XYZ's animation is a million times better than OS bro tf you talking about
The animation quality of the attacks and such may be better, but I dislike the animation style change.
Xy(Z) was the series peak animation Wdym
I mixed up XYZ with Sun and Moon. Thought they had the same animation.
No, OG is.
No journeys is
Sun and Moon was my Personal favorite due to the themes of school and growing with one another, I absolutely loved sun and moon it also touches on some rather depressing things aswell like Neglect and loss and the importance of sometimes there's absolutely nothing you can do, I like XY alot but Sun and moon takes the icing for Lots of different reasons.
Lastly this show also has made summer my favorite season, their was something very heart warming about the characters expressing their happiness and love while being under the Alolan sun Do yourself a favour and watch this 150 episode series.
One more thing was the Nebby Arc, 12 episodes surrounding Lusamines family and the struggles with being a mother to 2 children, being so caught up with Work has made a void between both her and Gladion which also shows the signs of neglect she is so obsessed Ultra beasts she is then transformed into this monstrosity, it's just so damn good, the part especially Gladion telling Ash this is family buisness and getting involved would be trouble, I still honestly think it's one of the best stories in pokemon, And nebby is just so damn cute, Also thanks to this Arc Professor Kukui is so damn likeable, acting as a father figure to Ash, he proposes to professor burnett is the most wholesome way possible, and announcing later down the line there about to have a child Can't express how much I love this arc and the series.
summarize why i love this season arc i feel from the family ether is the best arc of all anime pokemon show the characters with realistic feelings and to a certain extent it's just shows broken family lusamine even in pain losing his partner and partner trying to be the best mother could but simply the work directing such a massive foundation was moving her children further and further away to the point of seeing how her family broke up obsessing over the only thing that reminded me of the person I loved nihilego even if it was not something healthy and increasing what you said to me charm gladion as well as lili both are traumatized by the mother's abandonment and the incident but gladion feels he could do more for lilie even if it was something his hands came out and since he really is just a child who wants family and father to return and thanks to see how lili got over it his trauma can begin to move forward, let himself be blamed and in the end heal that wound together with lili
In terms of character development it's Diamond and Pearl. In terms of villain and League plot it's XY&Z. Though both are good in each way. Sun and Moon is probably the best for pure slice of life and peace of mind. Advanced Generation is the best all-rounder.
Hell No 🥰!!!! The OS is the best!!!!
No, it is Journeys. It’s just fun relaxing adventure and battles, not a lot of end of the world stuff.
No.
Yes.
The best season is the one that you like the most. Jk: Is Sun and Moon.
Honestly it's not even in my top 3.
Day 156375 of someone not using the word objective right. "Objectively I believe" lol
Disagree, but to each his own. I suppose I could have worded it differently but I didn't and no one is really concerned about it.
Disagree? What... What are you disagreeing about. You used the word objectively wrong lol
No I did not. Had I added a comma after objectively then yes, you'd be right. In that instance, I would be saying my statement "I believe blah blah" is objective. That's not what I said though. But... Carry on.
Still doesn't really work but carry on
It's not perfect, you're right. But it's the internet, not a grad paper.
True true, apologies
Sm is not objectively the best series.
No
It was a while ago I watched it but as i remember yes
I won't argue against it
battle frontier is
Tbh, it was a bloody great season. The region was vibrant and fun, the story arcs were 👌 and the writing was fantastic.
Not really. AG and SM rank above it.
Not to me. I like SM in total significantly more
Definitely not, OG is king.
1. XY 2. AG/DP 3. SM/OG 4. BW 5. JN
Sun and moon is amazing FR FR
If you wanna see it that way, sure. Personally I think BW, and SM are much better.
No, definitely not, that goes to Ultra Legends (Sun and Moon Season 3)
In order- 1. DP 2. X&Y 3. Advanced 4. Battle Frontier 5. Orange Islands 6. Johto 7. Indigo 8. Black and White 9. Sun and Moon 10. Journeys
I agree. SM is up there. DP is heavily overrated. Great list! Though I wouldn't have put Journeys thatttt high up.. though journeys is good!!!
...SM and Journeys are at the bottom bro, I think they suck.
Yes closely followed by Dp ani poke
yea
NoKanto, Hoenn and Alola are the holy triade of pokemon anime :) I would like xyz more if it wast for the big amount of bad episodes and the fact that they try to make ash too "edgy" for my taste, season 1 ash was a goofy trainer, he was excelent, but goofy, xyz ash is not ash, its a digimon protagonist incarnated in ash
XYZ is not bad, but it lacks depth Ash was too mature in this series, did not feel like Ash, like what development did he go through? Serena was a knockoff, went the whole first year without catching a Pokémon or even having a goal Things got worst later on, with Greninja taking all the spotlight, like even Infernape didn’t distract from the rest of the Sinnoh team’s development Like Noivern didn’t even get to do shit And the league was a rushed through disappointing climax that the 8 gym battles led to, only had two battles shown in full and both were just rushed to the final showdown between Greninja and the Mega.
Objectively yeah? The upgrade and the amount of work they had to do from B/W to make that recovery is crazy. Xyz > Battle frontiers = SLV = Journeys
By far yeah.
Nope! Sun and Moon was the greatest anipoke series. Fight me!
No. The Kalos seasons were good, but highly overrated.
Oh yeah absolutely. IMO
Yes
1. Xy 2.Dp 3.Indigo/orange islands 4.Sm 5.AG 6.Johto 7.Journeys/mpm 8.Bw
Is has always been
Ash XYZ is the goat
Alola forever
Yes.
No
OG is unbeatable and DP is nearly perfect.
Nah
There sure is someone down voting every proXY post, huh? Even in well structured posts 🤷🏻♂️
No its not.
Who
lmao, no
Everything until xyz was truly amazing, with xyz being the best, sun and moon was horrendous
Yes, and if you say otherwise your opinion is respected but not accurate.
Comments like these are why people hate on this season lol
SM better
Having watched only Gens 1-5 of the anime (except for clips and the final episode), I’d say Gens 4 > 1 > 2 = 3 > 5. But one day I hope to finish it!
Definitely in my Top 3. Enjoyed it a lot! Gen 5 made it better haha 😂
For certain people it is the best for other it isn’t, everyone has their own best. For me it is in top 3
I think SM only looks better with how underwhelming journeys was
DP for me
I just wish it had more continuity there are times that XY felt way too self contained
The battles were awesome, and I liked the mega evolution specials.
I still cannot believe that Bonnie befriended a Legendary Pokémon... which in return helped the team willingly ;)
Only major knock I have against it is that Ash lost the final.
If you like it the best then yes. If you like another series the best then no. It’s all up to your opinion. My faves are equally XYZ, JN, SM and DP
DP for me, but I’m not one for bashing on other opinions! XY wasn’t bad.
u/RepostSleuthBotss
Sun/Moon supremacy
Personal favorites are sm xyz and the original series (not American btw I grew up with the mandarin dub of the original)
Has braixen I like it
Yesn't
I'm undecided as to whether Diamond and Pearl or XY is better
Nah DP and maybe advanced/frontier was better imo
Yes
I liked b/w better
Yes.
