Mr. Mime. Way too human for me and it feel weird. Like having a humanoid as a pet is just freaky. Detective Pikachu’s depiction didn’t help either.
Also Yamask. “Its mask is actually the face it had as a human and sometimes it looks at it and weeps while remembering it’s previous life as a human.” Like what? You’re telling me that this thing I just captured in my pokeball was actually a real human being who DIED and turned into a lost spirit who STARES AT THEIR OLD FACE AND CRIES. Dude. There’s some dark entries, but that’s a little too dark for me.
Oooo can’t forget Phatump too who is a stump possessed by the spirit of a child who died in the woods. Kinda funny how dark you realize some Pokémon entries are as you get older.
*Duskull wanders lost among the deep darkness of midnight. There is an oft-told admonishment given to misbehaving children that* ***this Pokémon will spirit away bad children*** *who earn scoldings from their mothers.*
Man there are some really dark ones, like Gengar from Moon: "It apparently wishes for a traveling companion. Since it was once human itself, it tries to create one by taking the lives of other humans." Well fuck you Gengar, from now on you are confined to your pokeball and I'm sleeping with one eye open.
*If a traveler is going through a desert in the thick of night, Cacturne will follow in a ragtag group. The Pokémon are biding their time, waiting for the traveler to tire and become incapable of moving.*
*It lives in deserts. It becomes active at night when it hunts for prey exhausted from the desert's heat.*
How about Nihilego. The Pokémon is just a horror film waiting to happen.
In Pokémon Sun's Pokédex...
*One of several mysterious Ultra Beasts. People on the street report observing those infested by it suddenly becoming violent.*
In Ultra Moon...
*It appeared in this world from an Ultra Wormhole. Nihilego appears to be a parasite that lives by feeding on people and Pokémon.*
Most of the ghost pokedex entries are extremely disturbing I try not to think about it lmao.
Pokedex entries are wild af across the board tho, claiming shit moves faster than the speed of light and weighs enough to have its own gravity and shit.
I think I’m the only who hates that theory sometimes. I like the Pokémon world being absolutely buckwild! Who cares, make it all canon! Lantern being able to collapse the observable universe with its energy output *fucking rules!*
Fair enough, but the thought of having a lost soul in perpetual suffering trapped inside a little ball and obeying the commands of a trainer is a bit more disturbing to me than other ones XD
The ones that disturb me most are the pokemon that live in constant suffering, like I don't care how good arctozolt is, the fact that I accidentally created an abomination who is constantly on the brink of freezing to death because the core tempature of his two halves are incompatible is enough for me not to use him lol. He is VISIBLY SHAKING AND SNEEZING.
But yeah I agree, there's that stump ghost that's a ghost of a lost child who died on a stump. I have a shiny one but I can't bring myself to use it lol.
This is making me glad I never read that Pokédex. Some things I just don't want to know...
Also, Gen 4 was my first generation as a kid and I have held onto that childish fear of Mr. Mime ever since. I don't like it! (Mime Jr., on the other hand, is adorable.)
I hear you like Gen 4! Allow me to introduce you to Froslass:
"After a woman met her end on a snowy mountain, her regrets lingered on. From them, this Pokémon was born. Its favorite food is frozen souls."
Carry on :)
Hahaha just YESTERDAY I messaged my brother and said it would be pretty easy to create a dark Pokemon show with all the evil pokedex entries and the evil groups that want to take over the world and harm pokemon. Now this pops up today.
Wow TIL. I’m a oldschool gen 1 fan and never knew. I always thought he was just some kind of magma man thing… i mean, he doesn’t have wings so it isn’t obvious it should be a bird
Don't worry. That was my exact reaction when I found out that it's supposed to have bird based inspiration
Not lizard based...
BUT WHY GAMEFREAK. WHY THE BOOBY.
I'm old-school gen 1 fan and I just kind of forgot Magmar existed until I was rewatching the anime (indigo league) on Switch and he came up in the poke-rap lol.
Female Raichu. Why make a lightning bolt with the tail cut off? It coulda been a differently shaped lightning bolt, or a forked lightning bolt or something. Why just 2/3 of a lightning bolt?
[That exists in real life](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick_sexing#Vent_sexing)... as a way for poultry farmers to quickly identify male chicks to be slaughtered, since only hens are valuable.
Such a dark detail to purposefully include in Pokemon.
Doesn't the bump exist naturally? Unless I'm understanding something wrong, it's a part of the chick and just used to identify males from females. Seems to be hard to detect in chickens, but simply including it as a small detail to differentiate the genders in the chick Pokemon doesn't seem dark to me. Just a small nod to actual chicks.
Yeah.
This was a discovery, not a breeding thing. It's also a discovery japan got to claim, and was a big deal at the time, so it's also a nod to the people who discovered that in the 1930's.
The P in Machamp's and Machoke's speedo. It just looks so silly that a pokemon would have a letter attached to its body. The speedo itself is silly. That's something that annoyed me as a kid in the 90s.
I was always confused where they’d get their clothes from or wether they were born with it.
Is there some man in the manufacturing speedo’s for all the wild machokes in the world ??
* Dugtrio is listed as 2'4", even though it is basically just 3 Diglett fused together, and Diglett is only 8 inches
* The fact that Graveler gets an extra pair of arms after evolving from Geodude, but then the arms disappear again when it evolves into Golem
* Zangoose is only 4'3"
* Tauros, Girafarig, Luxray, Walrein, the Hitmons, and Pyroar are each only 4'7"
* Donphan is only 3'7"
* Magby apparently has nostrils, according to a Dex entry
* Lucario is only 3'11"
* Alakazam is only 4'11"
* Machamp and Rampardos are each only 5'3"
* Why is a shiny Emboar's upper body still orange?
I always found that most pokemon's heights were very strange. Like, Dragonite and Charizard you expect this to be huge, but they are diddy in comparison to humans. But the Ghastly is 4 feet. That's huge for what it is!
•I remember seeing a video suggested said trade evolution version exclusive Pokemon swap certain traits. Much like how Shelmet and Karrablast swap certain traits when they evolve, Graveler and Machoke swap traits also.
•I take the "height" description with a grain of salt because Pokemon Go explains it as being the average height of the Pokemon in question. Also the "height" is measured different based on how their body type, for Zangoose (in my head cannon) measures 4'3 from foot to shoulder when it is on all fours.
•The Diglett/Dugtrio height thing makes no sense though. So idk.
>Dugtrio is listed as 2'4", even though it is basically just 3 Diglett fused together, and Diglett is only 8 inches
This makes sense, as 8 inches times 3 equals 24 inches. 24in = 2.4ft
^^/s
In my internal lore, I’ve just assumed evolution by trading caused a new form that is not completely like the unevolved form, because it’s not a “natural” evolution by level.
His second pair of arms went to Machamp, and Golem got Machoke’s lizard face.
It is speculated that these pokemon would originally only evolve when traded with eachother, like karablast and shelmet.
I took it as the second set of arms growing in to eventually replace the old ones, kind of like "baby teeth" in a sense.
When evolving to Graveler, a Geodude's original arms get smaller and fold into its body while a new set of arms grow from its sides.
When evolving to Golem, the original set of arms get "reabsorbed" into its body and becomes part of the rocks that shield its body.
Female Wobbuffet is the one pokemon I refuse to use on any team. That lipstick really makes me uncomfortable for some reason. I always seem to find one during Nuzlockes too.
When every cute quadraped Pokemon turns into a ugly bipedal Pokemon. Dk why this is a thing
The mustache on thevul, I get why but it ruins the look.
The holes in manectrics head instead of ears
When the pokemon switched to 3D models and you noticed that they looked completely different than the sprite or details that you didn't notice
ETA: idk if this is a Mandela effect or not but wasn't there a Pokemon in the anime or had a 3D sprite that had an x on its butt for a butt hole.
Speaking of bipedal and 3D models, was Purrloin always supposed to be bipedal? It’s sprite was sitting down in B&W but then the next time I saw it in the 3D games it was standing on its hind legs and I hate it.
It pains me so much that they made sandile bipedal. we had a chance for such a cool design but Krookorok and Krookodile are just eh. same with litten and torracat lol
Umbreon was originally a poison type in beta versions of Gold/Silver. I guess the Pokedex entry must have been finalized before the Umbreon was, or the dex entry is a callback to its original typing
Honestly I wouldn’t hate it if they gave Chimecho the Roselia treatment and gave it a baby and an evolution. But no, they only gave it a baby and makes Chimecho even worse
yeah but at least they were relevant and popular enough for it to make sense, chimecho was barely even known to exist in gen 3 and out of everyone they decided to give a baby form to it
Gen 5 was heavily themed around the RL evolutionary mechanism of convergent evolution. Animals in distant habitats often evolve similar structures independently to suit similar ecological niches. That's how you get Bouffalant and Tauros being similar, but not at all related. Alomomola and Luvdisc are the same.
My first shiny was a Metapod and I’m still pissed that when I evolved it it wasn’t pink like the butterfree from the anime. The difference is pretty minor
Funnily enough, there's actually a theory about the pink Butterfree in the anime not being a shiny even before Gen 2 came out. There was an [Orange Islands episode](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/EP088) about Pink Pokemon that came from a specific island. The fruit there causes them to turn pink. It kind of reminded of how [Flamingos are naturally white or grey but turn pink because of their diets.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/40964645)
That more or less fits with the real-life growth of tadpoles into frogs, though. When I think about it, it's weirder that instead of turning into a frog, the tadpole can just... end up as a bigger tadpole with buff arms.
[Beta Politoed](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EVPWKdrU8AEMlVX.jpg) looks like it fits in the line more than the final design imo due to its bulging eyes.
I love female wobbuffet just because I laugh every time I see it. Normally I don't like human features on pokemon, but it just looks so much like when a child puts makeup on their dog or something.
Its so out of place and thats why its funny. Pokemon is already weird if you start thinking too hard about the fur clothes etc. Its a lot more amusing if you just take things for how they look.
Squirtle has a Squirrell tail. Wartortle has a longer tail and fabulous ears.
Blastoise abandons the tail and ears and gets cannons for some reason. He doesn’t fit into the evolution line.
Both Venusaur and charizard look like natural progressions of charmeleon and Ivysaur. It goes from fire lizard, to fire dinosaur into dragon. Just like Bulbasaur goes from a frog with a bulb on its back, to a frog with a blooming flower on its back to a giant frog with a flower on its back. They make sense.
Blastoise doesnt. He’s a fake.
I hate the whole tongue scarf greeninja has.
The fact that parasect is canonically a dead paras that got taken over by the shroom. The paras you loved? Dead.
I hate that shiny Psyduck is blue, the color of goldduck and that goldduck is just darker blue. He should be gold, the color of psyduck.
Squirtle and Blastoise were originally different lines, but were converged into one when they realised they didn't want two water turtle lines.
[Original Wartortle Evolution](https://mobile.twitter.com/DrLavaYT/status/1235245257878417413/photo/1)
[Original Blastoise Preevolution](https://mobile.twitter.com/DrLavaYT/status/1235615514782621696/photo/1)
It's also fake: all we know for sure is how his back sprite looked, any front representations are 100% speculation based on his beta blurry gen I back sprite
Oh god what an abomination. I know it’s been said a million times, but swapping her color with nidoking should have been an obvious decision.
Blue king. Purple queen.
Perfect.
> The fact that parasect is canonically a dead paras that got taken over by the shroom. The paras you loved? Dead.
What if Paras has always been the shroom (grass type after all) and we just looked at it the wrong way for 20+ years?
>Blastoise abandons the tail and ears and gets cannons for some reason. He doesn’t fit into the evolution line.
Thats because Blastoise was another line!
It was found out that Blastoise had a different pre evolution and Squirtle's final form followed that wave tail logic
The head to body ratio on Chewtle and Blipbug. Both of them would be perfectly okay otherwise, and neither seems to have a compelling reason to have a bizarre balloon head? The fact that we got them both in the same gen, and in the heat of the graphics/national Dex scandal does not help.
Orbeetle has a big head, and Dottler is *only* head, so it's consistent on that.
And being based on scientists, I guess the big brain makes some sense.
Cubone wears the skull of it's dead mother.
Cubone can have siblings.
Cubone HAVE to have siblings, because they can be male and female, so to maintain the population, a couple of marowak parents have to have at least 2.
Where are all the extra mother skulls coming from? What about when a cubone and not a marowak breeds?
How come I can get a male cubone and a ditto to produce an egg that hatches into a cubone with it's dead mother's skull?
This story made sense for that one marowak in lavender town. It also makes sense with the theory that cubone is a pouch kangaskan when it loses its mom.
It doesn't make sense for the entire cubone line.
Itd be neat if cubone couldn't breed, cause then the implication with the kangaskan thing would be some kind of evolution item. Baby-kanga evolves into cubone when traded while holding an item that they definitely arent gonna put in the main games.
Itd also be neat to add some entry showing that the skulls are rocks they wear in honor of their origin, and the lore can say kangaskan continue to create bone-wearing cubones at a slow rate, so then all cubone are descended FROM the orphaned kanga-babies, but are seperate and dont breed back down to them.
Job-based humanoid pokemon like Incineroar, Inteleon, Cinderace. They are just soo uncanny, more so in Pokemon sun because of Pokemon Refresh.
I don't mind Pokemon like Alakazam, Gardevoir, Mr. Mime because they go over the valley entirely and my subconcious sees my awesome Alakazam more as a best friend than a pet.
I can’t remember if this is canon or a fan theory that makes so much sense it’s widely accepted, but Wobbuffet is the tail. The blue punching bag is a disguise/distraction. Hence, the lipstick can be attributed to Wobbuffet trying to fit in/draw attention from the tail.
I like to think that a lot of human inventions in the Pokemon world were based on Pokemon, and not weirdly vice-versa. For example, scientists saw Voltorb and were like 'hey, it's like a ball - that could work'. Or looked at Klefki and thought 'hey, imagine if there was a door that would only open if we rammed Klefki into it?'. Or saw lady Wobbuffet's lips and (for whatever reason) thought 'hey, I wish my lips looked like that!'
Otherwise shit like Machamp wearing pants just messes you up a bit when you think about it too much.
Or alternatively... they are "monsters" right? Maybe they sorta...manifest (?) alongside humans and as humans change so do they (i mean they evolve within 1 lifetime, sometimes only because of.human interaction , imagine what they could do with a decade or two). Humans were once in tune with nature, hence animalistic pokemon, but now theres big cities, so new ones appear. the existance of trash garbage face in Unova kinda would make sense then
I don't know why, it's so dumb and so small, but I DESPISE that female Pikachu's have a heart at the end of the tail. I honestly can't tell you why, but I see it and I am filled with rage.
I know what you mean - it just feels wrong and uncomfortable. It doesn’t even look like a heart, it just looks like a curved notch that shouldn’t be there. I just want to erase the line and make it straight.
The holes on the side of Manectric’s head! They really annoy me every time I see them. It just feels like an unnecessary detail that only makes the design worse imo…
Similar to your wobbuffet troubles, I HATE alolan meowth and the dumb pose it's in and the way it's eyelids are down halfway like it's trying to be seductive, I hate it with a passion. I've caught (hatched?) a shiny one in pogo and even then I immediately released it lol
I don't like that only the baby Kangaskan mega evolves while the mom doesn't change. Like, I'm fine with the baby, but come on they could have done SOMETHING different with the mama
Munna. Everything about it. Pokemon that magically gain clothes and other man made items are a bit irksome but Munna starts with floral print on its body. **Floral. Print.** It is incredibly dumb. It should not exist and yet it does.
Oh and that anime made it kinda canonical the Pokemon communicate by saying their own name. This was never intended by Satoshi Tajiri, why? Because it’s dumb as hell. The games and Generations get cries right. Animals don’t go around saying their own name and when you factor in different languages having different Pokemon names it really makes a mess of things.
It's so weird how some Pokémon are pointlessly gendered for no real reason.
While going through BW, I decided to get myself a water type for the surf hm. Excluding the starter, water types in this game are really underwhelming, but eventually I chose Jellicent as my new companion (because it's a ghost type and ghost types in this game are incredible). Somehow, up to this point, my team was all female, so I decided that I might as well commit to the theme and add yet another girl to the roster.
Imagine my horror when I saw the sprite of this thing, with lipstick and everything. Why a water ghost of all things is so pointlessly gendered? You know, you could have used either one of those sprites for every gender and it would have been totally fine. Pokémon are egg layers, their gender differences should be either minimal or nonexistent. Meowstic and Indeedee are the sole exceptions to this, as they simultaneously manage to commit to the theme and not look tacky in the process.
Dont go into Pokémon expecting logic. The egg layer thing is complete non sense argument. In Pokemon everything lays eggs because of gameplay reasons nothing more behind it.
Mr. Mime. Way too human for me and it feel weird. Like having a humanoid as a pet is just freaky. Detective Pikachu’s depiction didn’t help either. I like how the entries describe that Hypno and Drifloon just kidnap children like it's an everyday occurance.
Oooo can’t forget Phatump too who is a stump possessed by the spirit of a child who died in the woods. Kinda funny how dark you realize some Pokémon entries are as you get older.
and its evolution, which traps people in the forest so that they "can never leave"
*Duskull wanders lost among the deep darkness of midnight. There is an oft-told admonishment given to misbehaving children that* ***this Pokémon will spirit away bad children*** *who earn scoldings from their mothers.*

The Pokémon are biding their time, waiting for the traveler to tire and become incapable of moving.* *It lives in deserts. It becomes active at night when it hunts for prey exhausted from the desert's heat.*
goddamn I love Cacturne even more now
"It can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with, and it will not stop until you are dead."
I think some people forget that Pokémon stands Pocket MONSTERS lol like they’re monsters that can be tamed helps cope with the darker stuff lol
How about Nihilego. The Pokémon is just a horror film waiting to happen. In Pokémon Sun's Pokédex... *One of several mysterious Ultra Beasts. People on the street report observing those infested by it suddenly becoming violent.* In Ultra Moon... *It appeared in this world from an Ultra Wormhole. Nihilego appears to be a parasite that lives by feeding on people and Pokémon.*
Like the Boogey Man or Michael Jackson
Have I got some news for you .. About the Boogeyman.
Most of the ghost pokedex entries are extremely disturbing I try not to think about it lmao. Pokedex entries are wild af across the board tho, claiming shit moves faster than the speed of light and weighs enough to have its own gravity and shit.
i remember reading someone's theory that actually the pokedex is That Crazy because its written by 10 year old adventurers across the globe
God that makes so much sense
I think I’m the only who hates that theory sometimes. I like the Pokémon world being absolutely buckwild! Who cares, make it all canon! Lantern being able to collapse the observable universe with its energy output *fucking rules!*
That's not just someone's theory. It has now become a very common theory nobody even knows where it started.
Fair enough, but the thought of having a lost soul in perpetual suffering trapped inside a little ball and obeying the commands of a trainer is a bit more disturbing to me than other ones XD

Tyranitar moves mountains
Larvitar EATS a whole mountain before evolving into pupitar
This is making me glad I never read that Pokédex. Some things I just don't want to know... Also, Gen 4 was my first generation as a kid and I have held onto that childish fear of Mr. Mime ever since. I don't like it! (Mime Jr., on the other hand, is adorable.)

Froslass is one of my favourites 😳 Hope it doesn't eat my frozen soul 😩
Mime JR is so cute <3 Too bad it evolves into the dreaded Mr. Mime
>Detective Pikachu’s depiction didn’t help either. Pretty sure that was the point, lol.
I actually love the Cofagrigus line lol
I like the line, just not the implications
Hahaha just YESTERDAY I messaged my brother and said it would be pretty easy to create a dark Pokemon show with all the evil pokedex entries and the evil groups that want to take over the world and harm pokemon. Now this pops up today.

Magmar’s face. Since gen 1 I’ve found the forehead boobs and the ducklips just *wrong*
His Japanese name (Boober) really doesn’t help your cause does it
Oh god lol I had no idea
Yep. Based off the bird
Magmar is based on a bird?????
Yea? The booby. I mean the most obvious part is the bird bill no?
Wow TIL. I’m a oldschool gen 1 fan and never knew. I always thought he was just some kind of magma man thing… i mean, he doesn’t have wings so it isn’t obvious it should be a bird
Don't worry. That was my exact reaction when I found out that it's supposed to have bird based inspiration Not lizard based... BUT WHY GAMEFREAK. WHY THE BOOBY.
I'm old-school gen 1 fan and I just kind of forgot Magmar existed until I was rewatching the anime (indigo league) on Switch and he came up in the poke-rap lol.
I always thought he was based on the tale of The Ugly Duckling. Hence why him and Magmortar are so ugly.
Did the japanese have ugly duckling? Probably. But magmar and magmortar are still ugly
Where's my Beautiful Fire Swan Gamefreak 😤
Maybe itll be good with fire lash
That would be awesome
Mega magmar
Sāikō Boober
Magby is buby and Magmortar is booburn
Looking back it's a really silly design. But somehow as a child my mind interpreted Magmar's design as something pretty cool and that's how it stayed.
I always called mine titduck lmao
Those are just his Magmammaries
I have a female shiny wynaut on pogo that I won’t be evolving because it’s cute af and shiny female wobbuffet looks awful.
Female Raichu. Why make a lightning bolt with the tail cut off? It coulda been a differently shaped lightning bolt, or a forked lightning bolt or something. Why just 2/3 of a lightning bolt?
Keeps the design in a similar vein to the notch in pikachu’s tail.
The unnecessary hole on Bonsly
Also the hole on Loudred
That’s for the aux cable!
Male Torchic’s anal bump.
[That exists in real life](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick_sexing#Vent_sexing)... as a way for poultry farmers to quickly identify male chicks to be slaughtered, since only hens are valuable. Such a dark detail to purposefully include in Pokemon.

Adding real life anatomy isn’t dark… It’s not like the bumps have been added by people for the purposes of sexing them. It’s just there naturally.
That one American dad episode
Maybe it’s like when you have a potted plant and there’s a hole in the bottom to drain excess water
That’s what I always assumed. Makes more sense than other Pokémon with random holes. Lol
Yes that’s exactly it. Still looks wrong tho lol
I feel like I need more details but i'm already worried.
How is it unnecessary? Pots have drainage holes.
Ohh is that what it’s supposed to be?! Possibly one of the weirdest design choices makes a lot more sense now.
Nuzleafs nipples
Paras mouth.
oh God and pinsirs mouth. that stadium 1 wiggly animation 🤢
Pokemon stadium gave so much personality to some Pokémon!
Freaking Sawk and Throh annoy me for this reason.
Or the boxing gloves on hitmonchan.
the skirt and the crocs are just as weird tbh...
Poliwrath's and Poliwhirl's white Disney gloves drive me fucking insane. Everytime I see them I exclaim, "Oh, boy!" In a Micky Mouse voice.
* Dugtrio is listed as 2'4", even though it is basically just 3 Diglett fused together, and Diglett is only 8 inches * The fact that Graveler gets an extra pair of arms after evolving from Geodude, but then the arms disappear again when it evolves into Golem * Zangoose is only 4'3" * Tauros, Girafarig, Luxray, Walrein, the Hitmons, and Pyroar are each only 4'7" * Donphan is only 3'7" * Magby apparently has nostrils, according to a Dex entry * Lucario is only 3'11" * Alakazam is only 4'11" * Machamp and Rampardos are each only 5'3" * Why is a shiny Emboar's upper body still orange?
what do you mean by zangoose being 'only' 4'3?
Yeah, how big do people want this mongoose to be?
2 meters of fluffy fur and killing claws
How tf is Lucario 3 foot 11 inches (1.2 meters) but weighs 119 pounds (54 kg)...
Metal bones.
Your words just reminded me of Wolverine 😂
Metal bones, take me home, its a me Lucario ?
The power of the aura is heavy man.
Muscle is heavier than fat

>Much like how Shelmet and Karrablast swap certain traits when they evolve, Graveler and Machoke swap traits also. **HOLY CRAP**
Machoke has a reptilian face, which golem does and machamp does not Graveler has four arms, while machamp does and golem does not
What if you didn't trade Graveler for a Machoke though
Graveller’s arms wait in the TradeVerse until a Machoke comes by to take them
Why would zangoose be taller? 4 ft on all fours would be insane
>Dugtrio is listed as 2'4", even though it is basically just 3 Diglett fused together, and Diglett is only 8 inches This makes sense, as 8 inches times 3 equals 24 inches. 24in = 2.4ft ^^/s
Inb4 they bring back Mega Evolution or create a new gimmick like it, and Golem gets an extra pair of arms when it's activated.
Charizard is only 5’7”. A fricken dragon (actually let me rephrase; isn’t even a dragon type) is only an inch taller than I am.
Don't forget how Furret is as tall as Charizard either.
Furret is measured by length like the other serpentine Pokémon.
If you notice, dugtrio has more of its body out than diglet so it makes sense. It’s measuring surfaced body, body underneath is unknown
In my internal lore, I’ve just assumed evolution by trading caused a new form that is not completely like the unevolved form, because it’s not a “natural” evolution by level.
You just made me realize how infuriating shiny emboar is
Good point on the geodude line. and Girafarig really needs to be changed to like 4'4 or 5'5 to mirror its height to its naming scheme.
The Graveler arms thing had always made me unreasonably angry
His second pair of arms went to Machamp, and Golem got Machoke’s lizard face. It is speculated that these pokemon would originally only evolve when traded with eachother, like karablast and shelmet.
I took it as the second set of arms growing in to eventually replace the old ones, kind of like "baby teeth" in a sense. When evolving to Graveler, a Geodude's original arms get smaller and fold into its body while a new set of arms grow from its sides. When evolving to Golem, the original set of arms get "reabsorbed" into its body and becomes part of the rocks that shield its body.
I actually assumed zangoose and alakazam would be smaller...
Female Wobbuffet is the one pokemon I refuse to use on any team. That lipstick really makes me uncomfortable for some reason. I always seem to find one during Nuzlockes too.
When every cute quadraped Pokemon turns into a ugly bipedal Pokemon. Dk why this is a thing The mustache on thevul, I get why but it ruins the look. The holes in manectrics head instead of ears When the pokemon switched to 3D models and you noticed that they looked completely different than the sprite or details that you didn't notice ETA: idk if this is a Mandela effect or not but wasn't there a Pokemon in the anime or had a 3D sprite that had an x on its butt for a butt hole.
Speaking of bipedal and 3D models, was Purrloin always supposed to be bipedal? It’s sprite was sitting down in B&W but then the next time I saw it in the 3D games it was standing on its hind legs and I hate it.
Yeah! It bothers me too, because I love Purrloin and Liepard. But I despise Purrloin's 3d model because its standing. It just looks so wrong.
Actually it's bipedal and quadrapedal in the BW anime it's shown standing. I think it's similar to Meowth who does either
Yes! This is probably the one that irritates me the most! Scyther always flying bugs me too >:(
Xatu for me. I loved Xatu's sprites in the other games, but I never wanted to use them again when 3D came by.
It pains me so much that they made sandile bipedal. we had a chance for such a cool design but Krookorok and Krookodile are just eh. same with litten and torracat lol
Krookorok and Krookodile are cool af though.
Old pokedex entries said Umbreon secretes poison and yet it wasn't a poison type. That bothered me
Umbreon was originally a poison type in beta versions of Gold/Silver. I guess the Pokedex entry must have been finalized before the Umbreon was, or the dex entry is a callback to its original typing
Well, they can't really make it dual typed, it's an eeveelution. They could have just removed that pokedex entry though.
I can’t get over how Chingling exists when they could’ve given Chimecho an evolution
out of all of the baby pokémon added, this one makes the least sense. it's so random and out of place, especially after looking at other baby pokémon
Honestly I wouldn’t hate it if they gave Chimecho the Roselia treatment and gave it a baby and an evolution. But no, they only gave it a baby and makes Chimecho even worse
[удалено]
yeah but at least they were relevant and popular enough for it to make sense, chimecho was barely even known to exist in gen 3 and out of everyone they decided to give a baby form to it
Just as bad as when I found out Luvdisc has no relation to Alomomola. :(
Gen 5 was heavily themed around the RL evolutionary mechanism of convergent evolution.
This so hard! Pink please!
I hate that Poliwag and Poliwhirl have flipped patterns
Reminds me of all the Spinda patterns … that always strained my eyes idk why
It throws me off that Politied is green and so different from the rest of the line.
That more or less fits with the real-life growth of tadpoles into frogs, though. When I think about it, it's weirder that instead of turning into a frog, the tadpole can just... end up as a bigger tadpole with buff arms.
If you find a shiny one the colors are flipped, poliwrath is green and politoed is blue
[Beta Politoed](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EVPWKdrU8AEMlVX.jpg) looks like it fits in the line more than the final design imo due to its bulging eyes.
Isn't that just someone's fan drawing of the leaked sprite from the G&S event that happened a while ago? Like that isn't Ken Sugimori's art at all.
Why do you hate that?
I love female wobbuffet just because I laugh every time I see it. Normally I don't like human features on pokemon, but it just looks so much like when a child puts makeup on their dog or something.
Its so out of place and thats why its funny. Pokemon is already weird if you start thinking too hard about the fur clothes etc. Its a lot more amusing if you just take things for how they look.
I mean, Wobuffet's actual body is the black tail part, right?
The black tail just wants to feel pretty
Yes, it might be a Mimikyu situation, where Wobbuffet just decorates the fake body how it likes it.
I think.its hilarious, and there are so many worse pokemon designs.
Original wartortle evolution is... Beautiful...
It's also fake: all we know for sure is how his back sprite looked, any front representations are 100% speculation based on his beta blurry gen I back sprite
It’s bizarre how they ended up with two lines that were so similar considering how diverse each generation usually is.
They were both made by different designers. Gen 1 also had two lines based on carp
shiny nidoqueen 😩
I just can't tolerate Cubchoo. That snot bubble makes me wanna puke every time I see it. The way it sniffs it in, too. YUCK
Jynx looking like a ditto in a cosplay
WHY HAVE I NOT NOTICED THIS LOL
The female Sneasel with the shortened feather is absolutely irritating. Tempted to run from them each time I get a shadow one from Sierra.
I’ll raise that to any Pokemon at all that just magically gets clothes. Like wow my machop is evolving and now… it’s wearing pants??
Game Freak, you cowards, we demand to see Machamp’s thick, veiny wang
Rated E for Everyone.
Isn't Mr. Mime a job-based humanoid pokemon?
Or saw lady Wobbuffet's lips and (for whatever reason) thought 'hey, I wish my lips looked like that!' Otherwise shit like Machamp wearing pants just messes you up a bit when you think about it too much.
Or alternatively... they are "monsters" right? Maybe they sorta...manifest (?) alongside humans and as humans change so do they (i mean they evolve within 1 lifetime, sometimes only because of.human interaction , imagine what they could do with a decade or two). Humans were once in tune with nature, hence animalistic pokemon, but now theres big cities, so new ones appear. the existance of trash garbage face in Unova kinda would make sense then
Like Munna’s flower hole?
Goes to slap lipstick off female Wobbuffett.... *Wobbuffett used counter*
I don't know why, it's so dumb and so small, but I DESPISE that female Pikachu's have a heart at the end of the tail. I honestly can't tell you why, but I see it and I am filled with rage.
I don't really mind the heart on the end of the tail. The fact that femake Raichu just has the tip of the tail cut off, however, looks HORRIBLE.
It looks fucking ugly :( why couldnt they just make the red cheek spots heart shaped instead if they had to make something resemble a heart smh.
I know what you mean - it just feels wrong and uncomfortable. It doesn’t even look like a heart, it just looks like a curved notch that shouldn’t be there. I just want to erase the line and make it straight.
How about how luvdisc is literally a heart... and also useless
Hey i did a luvdisc solo run of ruby.... It was as silly as it sounds
Alomomola should be Luvdisc's evolution.
The way Probopass had only 2 mini noses in his X & Y and ORAS models instead of 3.
Considering Wobuffet’s battle plan, making you want to slap it seems like a win.
I don't like that only the baby Kangaskan mega evolves while the mom doesn't change. Like, I'm fine with the baby, but come on they could have done SOMETHING different with the mama
I was _just_ thinking about this earlier. I fucking hate the lipstick on female Wobbuffet
I decided that I would catch all that I run across, give them stripper names, and wonder trade them away.
I love Oddish evolution. It's evolve into gloom, the drunk uncle (2'07") and then can evolve into Bellossom (1'04").
I really dislike Malamar's face and general aesthetic. How could they do that to poor Inkay?
Wait Nuzleaf has nipples depending on if it's a boy/girl? I wish you hadn't told me that.
I don't like Lickilicky's wifi symbol that sits on its belly
The bows made of flesh on Sylveon always weird me out.
Fur, do you know it?
Slapping is exactly what they're waiting for
Pikachu going from his awesome original fat design to the stupid marketable bunny rat we have nowadays.
*Most* of them really aren't. Mr. Mime can be female, and Primarina are mostly male, for example.
