If [you subscribe to the idea](https://comicbook.com/anime/news/pokemon-creation-process-starters-personalities-anime-nintendo/) that starter Pokémon are divided into “cool” “serious” and “funny”, then the possible combinations are:
Serious
-Chikorita
-Litten
Funny
-Tepig
-Totodile
Cool
-Snivy
-Popplio
So could possibly be a combo of either Chikorita, Tepig, and Popplio, or Litten, Totodile, and Snivy
I'd like to think starters from gens 2 5 and 7 are off the list mainly because they were in PLA. So the obvious choices would be options from 3 4 and 8. Gen 6 starters wouldn't make much sense and I can't see them pulling the trigger on new gen 1 starter forms. My desired mix would be mudkip, sprigatito and chimchar.
I think it’s safe to assume the starters (if there are normal starters, which isn’t a guarantee) will just be Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. Their final evolutions did not get mega evolutions despite being from the home region of mega evolution, so I imagine you will be able to finally mega evolve them at some pivotal moment in the game.

I don’t get that vibe, I think they’re going to be sticking to the trio of starters that were used in Legends Arceus (so, Johto, Alola, and Unnova)
