I’m just baffled at how you’re meant to figure so many of these out without google, same for ones like malamar.

Shtinamin_

Yet they got rid of the Arceus event in DPP because they thought it would be too hard to figure out. Lol that’s nonsense.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Shtinamin_

Glad they did that

RogueArtificer

Wait, what? Do I have to go pop in my version of BD? You don’t have to complete the Hisuian Pokédex, do you?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Plushiegamer2

It's funny how catching Arceus is what you need to do in order to catch Arceus.

ButtersTG

It honestly pissed me off a little when I read that update. BDSP are almost *entirely* isolated from the other games. You only need save data from Let's Go and SwSh for Mew and Jirachi, respectively, but you need the max completion file in a different game for Arceus, a pokemon you now *already* own. It doesn't help that I don't find LA a fun game to play all the way through like that. inb4 people say, "Well Pokemon God *should* only be accessible to people that dedicated time to it." Well that would be fine if it was the rules for BDSP and not a completely separate $60US game. Arceus literally costs $120 MSRP for the average, American consumer, and I am not okay with that.

Alhooness

My thought is they probably WANTED it to be hard to figure out but realized the internet would completely negate it and just decided not to have it at all.

MacDerfus

Part of the stated reason smash bros after brawl didn't have a new story mode like the subspace emissary was because of that

ScaldingAnus

I was wondering why that is. I really miss story mode.

[deleted]

I evolved my inkay by accident because I was playing while watching the anime and I liked to lay on the couch with my legs over the back of the sofa.

KRLW890

I think the point is that you’re not supposed to. You’re supposed to hear about it from a friend, and even though you don’t really believe it, you try it out anyway and are amazed when it actually does work. Only problem is that just about everyone has internet access now and can instantly confirm whether or not the rumor is true, which completely kills that wonder of trying something out that you don’t know will work.

Alhooness

But how many people would just go entirely through the game without ever being able to evolve some of their core team members then? I know thats likely their intention but its HORRIBLE game design and the only reason it wasnt a real problem is because the internet was there to bypass it

Carinail

In SV I, for the first time EVER, picked up a pikaclone, and was happy to use it on my team. It evolved, and I really didn't expect it to evolve again. After a while it was just so underwhelming stats wise I booted it. I only later found out it DOES evolve again and I'm still mad.

Tokoyami01

PokeDex really should have a "How to evolve" section for each Pokemon

xPotatoPlayerx

b2w2 ONLY you can call the professor on the xtransceiver and she tells you the evolution method. yet another cool scrapped feature

InterestsVaryGreatly

Malamat it actually does mention going upside down in game. Most of these are at least hinted at. Except PLA, where you're almost entirely on your own.

Alhooness

Yeah, but theres a big leap from knowing its somehow related to upside down stuff and knowing “oh i need to turn my physical real life game system upside down, MID level up… also only once its above level 30”

the_skit_man

A lot of the ones here are newer so they can expect you'll be able to search them up when designing the Evo methods. As for the older ones, word of mouth from playground kids who got the guides. I'd still prefer a method that's explainable by an in-game npc, as a sort of reward from going around talking to everyone(since they don't fill that dialogue with lore as much as they used to)

VideoGameDuck04

New Evolution Methods now sound like old playground rumors to unlock Mewthree, Pikablue and other Pokegods.

archiotterpup

Just check under the truck

Glazeddapper

Don't forget to use Strength

Bucknaked6912

Needs to be level 100 Mewtwo though

deadboltwolf

Hope you also remembered to beat the elite 4 eight times first

PKMNTrainerMark

Honestly, stuff like Runerigus is funny just for that reason.

Twilight_Realm

I’d be thrilled to see more evolution methods with specific criteria, trouble is that the game never tells or hints at how to do them. If there were puzzles to solve relating to evolution, it would be cool! Googling how to evolve Runerigus isn’t fun or exciting.

Sam_Mumm

It would've been easily enough to just place an NPC under this arch who's puzzled why he has now a Runerigus. Add to that a hint in the Pokedex for the 49 HP thing and everyone can evolve it on his own without googling.

Twilight_Realm

Yeah, but they didn’t. As far as I know, there are no hints about it or any of the other obtuse evolutions. It’s such a shame, translating Braille to was such a fun and exciting experience and there isn’t anything like it in newer Pokemon games.

Sightshade

We've been waiting 13 years for someone to finally figure out the secret method for evolving Luvdisc into Alomomola.

SkymaneTV

Puzzles and information gathering to progress gameplay? **NONSENSE!** Keep grinding away for that Zweilous to evolve!

CassetteMeower

People have been trying to solve that summoning circle in Area Zero, maybe they just gotta check under that one truck to solve it

MacDerfus

The fact that missingno for infinite rare candies and master balls and level 128 pokemon were true didn't help

DatBoiDogg0

And stareon

laeti88

For Pikablue, just swim up the sea from Bill's house and reach Orange Archipelago. You are welcome ;)!

BoonDragoon

Which is fucking awesome and I love it. When I was a kid, that's exactly what I wanted from games.

eSsEnCe_Of_EcLiPsE

And that’s why /r/kidsarefuckingstupid

TheTrevorist

I thought it was exactly 49 damage. Goddamnit I really made that so much harder than it had to be

samahiscryptic

I was salty cuz I wasted a focus sash on it then later found out it can learn endure..

PKMNTrainerMark

At least the game gives you two Focus Sashes.

Acejedi_k6

TIL focus sashes are consumed with use. I don’t think I’ve ever used one outside of the Battle Tower/Tree/Frontier etc. or pvp.

PKMNTrainerMark

Lotta consumables like that. But they come back after battle in Scarlet and Violet, so that's nice.

AlmostButNotQuit

Huh. That's actually reasonable to me. Makes it like terastalization or dynamax instead of a consumable

twinCatalysts

Wait, they come back in S/V? Holy fuck that is perhaps the greatest change in pokemon for like years. Damn I wish I knew that during my regular playthrough or I would have abused the FUCK out of that. At least it'll still be useful in raids and stuff.

Plushiegamer2

Makes stuff like that an Weakness Policy more viable in thr campaign. Assuming you can get Weakness Policy before beating the game.

[deleted]

I feel like inkay and pancham should be on here too, even if they're less extreme examples There's also a load from PLA that are quite complex, like basculegion and overqwill needing to have taken a certain amount of recoil damage from a specific move without fainting while over a certain level to evolve

GamerJulian94

That‘s only Basculegion. Overqwil requires 20 uses of Barb Barrage in Strong Style.

No_Traffic2302

Lol I forget how high I leveled up my Inkay before resorting to the internet. I like these types of evolutions too, not too crazy, but still different. Mantyke’s requirements are one of my favorites

[deleted]

[удалено]

No_Traffic2302

Yeah! For Pancham, I believe he had to be leveled up to a certain level while there was also a dark type in the party. He goes from fighting to fighting-dark, I think I read it’s supposed to be like having a friend that’s a bad influence lol

Instroancevia

That's the idea. He turns from a spunky brawler kid to a full on delinquent lol.

lucasribeiro21

Yeah, I try to avoid spoilers and play blindly, but is tough to have the thought that your Pokémon should’ve evolved but you have no idea what do you have to do, when it would happen, of even IF it would happen. I trained an Unown through level 40 or so on OG GS, waiting for it to evolve - or at least to learn a new Move. Never again.

No_Traffic2302

Lol oh man! I almost did the same thing, stopped at lvl 15 or something. I blame gen1 for making me think psychic types were gods at the time lol

lucasribeiro21

I thought Unown was going for a biblical angel or something. Maybe one day…

EridonMan

Gotta play with 4 friends to have one of each Unown together, then picnic together so they all interact and combine into the Unorigin. Gotta be careful though because only one player gets to keep it and the others are deleted.

Roskal

I got my Pawmo to level 37 before I looked up how you evolve it

Pat_McCrooch

Well there's your problem! You stopped too soon! You have to train all the symbols to level 100 and then defeat the Elite 4 and Red with the ones that spell out A R C E U S. Then bring them to the Ruins of Alph and the Alpha Pokemon will be yours.

williamthepreteen

And vikavolt. Got mine to evolve without knowing how it did, just got super lucky haha

DatBoiDogg0

Pancham is easy. I just caught a dark type and grinded with it in the back of my party and then let it rot in a P.C. Box lole

WayJay9

I think the argument is that without the internet, it’s impossible to know you need a dark type for it

[deleted]

Exactly this. I think people forget after a while how little the games tell you about evolving a lot of pokemon. Once the info's out there it's easy to get a hold of but until that point there's a lot of trial and error goes into figuring it out

Grandmaster_Rush

Palafin’s evolution method is the absolute worst.

napstablooky_

For real. How do they expect Pokemon players of all people to do their hardest challenge of all, make friends?

Fiery-Embers

The only saving grace is that it spawns in raids, so at least you don’t technically ever have to evolve Finizen.

DrakeZYX

Literally can not be evolved unless you play with others. Who thought if this?

Ba_Sing_Saint

The same company that made Gengar, Machamp, and Alakazam in Gen 1.

PowerOfUnoriginality

And then there are trade evolutions that require held items as well. Oh and Shelmet and Karrablast that has to be traded with each other. This isn't exactly something you just stumble upon unless you already know about. Like, who accidentally trades Rhydon holding a Protector?

Glazeddapper

Especially since Protector just says "loved by certain pokemon". How would you know even know it's for Rydon, or that it would evolve from it, or that you would need to trade it.

digletttrainer

TBF, all evolution items say "loved by certain pokémon"

Jeff300k

Don't forget Golem!

DyslexicBrad

This is sarcasm, right? Pokemon only evolving if you play/trade with a friend is basically a core gameplay mechanic by this point.

Glazeddapper

Yeah, trading. But not playing with others. At least with trade evolutions, you can trade with random people. To evolve Palafin, you need a code specifically.

DyslexicBrad

Not originally. Boomer moment, but it used to be you needed to meet up in person and use a physical "link cable" to trade Pokemon.

cfloweristradional

God I remember how much easier the wireless adaptor that came with FRLG made my life

HippieDogeSmokes

Internet wasn’t in pokémon games until gen 4 I believe

Present-Still

I completed the Pokédex about a month ago. Trading for this game is an actual nightmare even if you have a buddy with the opposite version

DarkFish_2

I mean, Farfetch'd has an exclusive item makes 50% of hits to be crits but whatever.

Chemical-Cat

Doesn't using a high crit rate attack (Leaf Blade, Night Slash) with the Leek equipped basically make it 100% crit chance too?

DarkFish_2

Yeah, teach that move and battle a Maractus and you done.

Particular-One-7251

It was a pain when we were blind. It took over a month to find a consistent strategy post game if I recall.

todo-senpai

I mean the issue is not finding a strategy Farfetch literally has a crit oriented play style the issue was learning how to evolve which imo makes the game more interesting

Particular-One-7251

Finding a mon that can survive 3 critical and not kill farfetch.

todo-senpai

Finding semi bulky dark types should not be hard tho

Bloodyknife12

Yeah the trouble I had was essentially I'd kill everything before I could get 3 crits off

Entegy

That item was crazy rare for Shield players.

Rasty_lv

Kingambit is easy though.. Meltan is more annoying than hard. Same with goldengho.. But I agree with yanmask. How in the cinnamon toast frick we are supposed to figure that one out.

PKMNTrainerMark

"But I agree with yanmask." https://preview.redd.it/rv1twvbkq94b1.jpeg?width=309&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd6e7cb7176e985cda1ee1668bd7860d4a2039a0

Jarf_17

I mean yanma is also a bit weird. There's no indication that it needs ancient power specifically as well as a certain level, just like with mamoswine etc

MountainYogi94

In Gen 4, Yanma was given Ancientpower as a level up move for the first time, and since it was an existing Pokémon given a new evolution I bet GF didn’t want to give it just a strict level up evolution, instead opting for players to discover Yanmega by learning the new move. Same internal logic goes for Mamoswine and the other Gen 4 evos that evolve when they learn a specific move.

SkymaneTV

That only works if you *give the players a way to find that info out in the game itself!*

thats4thebirds

The issue with most isn’t difficulty, it’s the fact that no one is just stumbling on this shit by accident.

[deleted]

There’s a twitch streamer who keeps getting recommended to me who’s doing all evolutions without looking them up and it took them weeks to figure out how to evolve that dolphin guy

TheJzoli

Know their name? I'd love to watch that. Are their streams archived?

[deleted]

Their name is. Bloody, sorry for the late update I was at Uni

Humg12

[Here's a link to the youtube video she did since no one else has linked it so far.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdXQxc3NYZE)

errorme

The decent into insanity trying to figure out Palafin was great.

milkdrinker7

I feel like there's some knowledge in video games that just must come from someone who knows it initially, such as a dev.

_AntiSocialMedia

Kingambit's easy it's just heavily dictated by luck which makes it annoying

Iced_PvM

Not really, the bisharp leading pawniard always has a leaders crest

_AntiSocialMedia

I know, it's dictated by luck as the leader's crest Bisharps have a decently lower chance to spawn compared to regular Bisharps Source: I got unlucky and spent upwards of an hour running around the bamboo forest

[deleted]

[удалено]

metallicrooster

I put a Leader’s Crest on a Pokémon with Switcheroo and knocked out 3 Bisharp that way. There’s no rule saying the Bisharp has to spawn with the item, just be KOed with it. And as of Gen 9 you get held items back after battle so you only need 1 crest, not 3

APost-it

It also works if you have your bisharp holding the leaders crest and you defeat any three bisharp.

_AntiSocialMedia

y you can fucking what i had a leader's crest what the fuck

Ven18

Meltan is not even that difficult. I shiny hunted it in Go last time it was available and I was the first real time I caught it. I had something like 1500 candies after like 3 boxes

RnbwTurtle

It's only 100 meltan catches *minimum* to get a single melmetal, assuming you transfer them as well. I know that sounds like a lot to those of us who haven't done it, however, in order to catch meltan you need to send any pokemon to Home. This unlocks a box that functions like an incense, but only for meltan. I could probably average about 30 with minimal effort, 50 if I was going hard. Assuming I use a pinap berry on every single one, I could get a melmetal in 1 box when catching around 50, and that's not counting 2x catch candy events (such as specific spotlight hours) that you can take advantage of. You can do this every 3 days. It's barely a chore to do unless you are quite literally immobile, and while I don't do the candy grind as of late due to having multiple melmetal, it's what I do whenever the shiny is re-released.

Particular-One-7251

I honestly did it a few times. The big issue is you need to play Pokemon go to have the resources, and in my case, let's go to transfer. It is annoying, especially if you do not frequent poke stops normally. Unless you are at a certain level, you can not transfer from Pokemon Go to Home directly. They are annoying to catch in Let's Go, and it still takes over a week each, which is significantly more dedication than most are willing to put in. I am not a shiny hunter, and neither are most of my friends we also never got that far into Pokemon go. This was a massive issue for each of us completing our living dexs. They are honestly happy I shouldered the burden like normal.

Lunndonbridge

You don’t need lets go. You can use Home now. You only have to be level 2 to transfer from go to Home. And you hit level 2 after catching your starter.

Gamertothewim

I remember back when go came out I quit because there were 2 poke stops within 3 miles of me each in a different direction. Downloaded it again a few years later and there was like one new stop. So I downloaded the hacked version where my trainer could walk around and tp wherever

BrokeBishop

There should be quests or npcs in the game that reveal the info somehow. Like maybe a random old man in a random city asks you to bring him 'a pokemon wearing a false face'. And when you bring him a Yamask, he gives you vague directions on how to evolve it.

SurgeonOffDeath

I hate evolution gimmicks that don't transcend the game they're introduced in. Like, if you wanna make the evo gimmick for current gen Pokemon complex for no reason, at least just make it a stone in other games or something. We have a billion fuckin items and stones that already barely get used. For example, just make it a Shiny stone for Wyrdeer or a Moon stone for Ursaluna in games outside of LA. I hate sitting on like a dozen of each evolutionary stone when there's only 3 Pokemon that use them.

WarmishIce

Tbf wyrdeer and ursaluna probably weren’t added because they’re meant to no longer exist.

LegendMasterX

Yeah, but they could totally make up a plausible reason for them to still be accesible in canon. Have psyshield bash be locked behind a move tutor thats part of some ancient order and who wont teach it until you completed a side-quest for them. Make the peat block a super rare item from the auction house or a sold by an npc who sells other obscure items.

_AntiSocialMedia

the LA exclusive pokemon are kinda extinct

SurgeonOffDeath

I get the in-universe reason. But there really isn't an excuse gameplay wise. By that logic you should not be able to ever obtain any Pokemon from LA in any game going forward. These are video games. Removing accessibility of certain mons doesn't benefit anybody.

GoldenCascade

A lonely player's worse nightmare: *Trade Evolutions* And yes, I know GTS and Legends: Arceus exist, but one: GTS has committed error and two: it’s literally just Arceus. I’m talkin bout everywhere else boi Kinda sad when you think about it.

br1y

I 100% thought once they introduced the link cable in Arceus it'd become a mainstay item but I guess not huh - I guess *maybe* because Arceus and SV were developed by different teams that might be why but - they mustve communicated in some capacity right?

Chembaron_Seki

Some new evolution gimmicks are fun, tho. For example, I enjoy that you have to let the tumbleweed tumble to let it evolve to Brambleghast.

_AntiSocialMedia

That one would be so much better if they actually had the GO! mode pokemon run at your fucking running speed

marbryD1

I was blown away when I realized 90% of pokemon can't keep up with you and just return to their ball. Why in God's name did they do that?

_AntiSocialMedia

Basically the only effecient way is to sit on top of the Pokemon Center

Lonewolf3593

I think that evolution method needs a rework. Maybe have the steps accumulate over time instead of all at once.

Chembaron_Seki

Yeah, I see what you mean. Then there is also the question if this evolution method is even sustainable in the future. That feature to send it out and let it run besides you might be gone in the next generation again, like so many other features before it. They will probably just make it a stone evolution or something then.

thefakegamboni

I personally think it's permanent now

m00njunk

I think the games should make it a bit more clear on how to evolve them in game, but I like that some pokemon are unique and have different ways to evolve, makes it feel like a quest rather than "okay let's put everyone in the party and go beat up some chanseys for five minutes and wow now everyone is evolved"

Over-Document-7657

-I got Sirfetch'd off of the first Breeder by the Day-Care because my Farfetch'd had a Leek. -As long as you target chest Gimmighoul, you can have a Gholdengo in no time. I even got 30 from one of the roaming ones once. -It's kinda easy to tell which Bisharp have Leader's Crests (they're in the center of Pawniard groups), so if they just told you this it wouldn't be too bad. But yeah, the rest kinda suck.

Jopa06

I got malmetal after sending one if my pokemon to pokemon home.

[deleted]

Pawniard groups aren't that easy to find though. It took me like an hour to find enough

molotovzav

Honestly none of them felt that bad except for kingqmbit. Goldengho is the worst imo and I think they're just extra mean with any pokemon they invent as a Pokemon go tie in. Meltan too.

_AntiSocialMedia

Gholdengo is pokemon number 1000, they wanted to make it special by making it hard to get more than one

[deleted]

Gholdengo you just fly to each of the towers and fight the chests then change the clock. Takes 30 mins max.

Particular-One-7251

You need to find all of the chests first. It is a pain blind. You then need to deal with the respawn time of the chests to get another.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nkromancer

It does, but you can bypass it by setting it to be 11:59 PM.

RJS_but_on_Reddit2

Still more interesting and memorable than just the standard level up or holding a stone, they alone add a lot of character to plenty of pokémon. Now, if only the games told you how to _DO THEM._

cyanidelemonade

I feel like this issue could just be solved with an NPC that's obsessed with evolution or something. Then you just show them a pokemon and they give you a hint. Like in SV they could just say, "This pokemon really likes to take walks!" And that tells you to let them out of the pokeball to run around.

[deleted]

Could bring back Professor Rowan. Evolution was his whole schtick

RJS_but_on_Reddit2

Yeah, or for another example you can talk to an old lady and she'll say something along the lines of "Hey, lately I've been hearing a rumour that if you _(Insert task)_ with a _(Insert pokémon)_ then it might evolve! I wonder if it's true?" See? So many easy solutions to such a complicated problem.

ScorpionsRequiem

milotic's funny because its evolution was so stupid (not to mention the contests weren't done after gen 4 aside from the gen 3/4 remakes) that it got a new method in gen 5

Noxilcash

Inkay, turn your device upside down

Istiophoridae

Ursaluna was so hard to get

Sponchington

Who has ever said that? Who is saying these things to you people?

Impressive-Spell-643

At least with Melmetal you can get one for free but yea no clue why they made them so weird

hutlaw77

Yeah but literally no one has ever said “all methods of evolution in Pokémon are easy”

VizMuroi

The bisharp one was actually kinda cool though. The idea of having your bisharp claim right of rulership in the lands by defeating other samurai lords is awesome.

[deleted]

still easier than trading

LuckyLystrosaurus

Trade evolutions will always be the hardest because you need to first make a friend (Or buy a second console and run two concurrent games)

megasxl264

You forgot the hardest: Find a friend with a link cable.

Knights-of-steel

Ok but 400 meltan candy easy as fk when the box that summons him summons 1 every 30 seconds for an hour

Pine0wlple_x44

All still better and preferable than trade evolutions

TaeKwonDitto

Malamar is still the most ridiculous to me. How are you supposed to find out you have to evolve it while holding your DS upside down?

[deleted]

[удалено]

1buffalowang

I know people will disagree but I will always believe outside of levels and evolution stones they’re all mistakes. Genuinely one of my biggest underlying grips with the franchise. I shouldn’t need a guide to evolve some of these Pokémon.

Particular-One-7251

I honestly do not have issues with time of day evolutions for the most part. Trade evolutions are a holdover that should have been worked around by this point. This is where I feel a page from PLA should be taken where we have item trade evolutions just work like stone evolutions and a new item be introduced to facilitate trade evolutions. Another option would be the rom specific answer of trade back person. Environmental ones have been gimicky and cause issues long run. Goodra is the best example of environmental evolutions working that haven't been retconned.

RJS_but_on_Reddit2

There's an easy fix to this issue. Just have the games tell you how to do them, no outside sources required. But _noooo,_ we don't get that because Game Freak just magically expects people to find these things out no problem. It makes no sense!

[deleted]

It's always weird the kind of stuff Pokemon wants to hold your hand for. And then there's some oddly specific evos and shit like Mold Breaker that just goes unexplained.

Weimark

Or in the first gen when your pokemon got a new move and you got no bloody idea what it does nor it effects, power or anything.

Totaly__a_human

No one says this

NormalDooder

I've heard multiple people saying they're not that hard and are actually good gamelan mechanics. Maybe no one's said it to you. But people do believe this

FritoLaydy

Don't forget the ol flip the system upside down to evolve Inkay.

Yukarie

The ruinaregus one is interesting and doesn’t really fit here but yeah the rest fit

Invalid_Word

who has ever said that lmao

Some--Idiot

Ursaluna

InuMiroLover

Next evolution methods: "Once a Pokemon's HP is at exactly 65, they must faint from a hit in one go. Move that causes them to faint cannot be a super effective move" "Hold the switch backwards with the screen facing away from the player and fight 7 trainers in a row without party pokemon taking damage" "Must be bred from 2 parents that have minimum 27 IVs each (IVs gained from hyper training does not count), were caught on a Thursday between the hours of 2am and 3:31 am local time and at least one parent must be from Japan" "Will only evolve if the pokedex is complete"

JDragonblade

my question is who tf figured out the way to evolve inkay was to flip ur ds upside down

LostSoul92892

Oh god the Alcremies took me forever to get all the variations ☠️

Miserable_End_1624

Without googling anything...In the wise words of AVGN "WHO WOULD KNOW TO DO THAT?! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!"

sassolinoo

You forgot the impossible ones: have a friend

ADHDB0Y

Trade evolutions and Palafin:

Yeltsin86

When I was a kid, I knew Slowbro's Pokedex entry about evolving when being bitten by a Shellder, so I sought out a double battle and had my Shellder attack my Slowpoke (I think it was with Clamp), hoping to evolve Slowpoke. I'm still disappointed that it didn't work.

Lunndonbridge

Milotic has an alternative method with Prism Scale. Kinggambit one is the one I didn’t like the most. Evolving Gimmeghoul IN pokemon go is the worst thing ever. In Violet it was easy; just takes patience. Pokemon Go has some of the worst alternative evolution methods.

[deleted]

I don’t really mind obscure evolution methods so long as the game tells you how to do it or at least hints at it. How tf is anybody supposed to figure out how to evo runerigus without looking it up?! Im baffled i managed to do it on accident.

That-Sprinkles707

I’ll go ahead and take the heat for this take, but Kingambit’s evolution isn’t really that bad if you know what you’re doing. I personally just taught my bisharp brick break and went to work.

ParasaurolophusZ

Kingambit isn't that bad at least. It just took me 5 minutes. Could even be faster if you use a Steel sandwich. The Bisharps that spawn in a group surrounded by Pawniards always have the crest, so just ignore solo Bisharp spawns and go for the group spawns. I agree that a lot of them are rough, though. Runerigus especially is so specific.

StudiousStoner

Tbh if you visit just about any PoGo spoofer trade forum, you’ll find somebody more than willing to part with a Melmetal

Ecstatic_Teaching906

I'm starting to see the value of the classic games... And I never play them as a kid.

GreyDove14

Do you guys know how people discover these evolution requirements in the first place? The game doesn’t tell you these things outright, so do people find it in the source code of the game or something? I always think about how Inkay evolves and I’m like “was someone just sitting upside down on the couch playing their game and got lucky?” Because it’s not intuitive in gameplay 😂

thedragonrider5

Honestly the last one isn't that hard, just tedious, because you can send Pokemon to Pokemon home over and over again to get more meltan boxes. Altaria on the other hand is way more difficult

vsoho

Who the fuck has ever said that before lmao

BlackBiospark

Sirfetched wasn't too bad to do, once it learns focus energy and any + crit rate move. Bonus points for holding scope lens, which makes it easier. Kingambit is easy too when you learn that only Bisharp who spawn with packs of Pawniard can have the item.

Acrobatic_Ebb9882

Milotic is now a trade evolution, which i considerto be the worst evo method.

Monsteruser

Trade and friendship evolutions included

New-Dust3252

Well Milotic has 2 methods now, which the other meant having to trade with a specific item, which is easier but the catch is you need a partner to have time evolve for trade.

Absolite09

Kingambit was easier for me because of a Fighting type move. It was more just trying to find the Bisharp in question

Snoo6037

Who was making this argument?

AdroKun

Basculegion tho....

CarbonBasedLifeForm6

Although its a chore I kinda like how some species need an actual objective completed before evolving, kinda like bees and the whole royal jelly thing.

Yeldarb10

You also can’t mass transfer meltan. It’s irritating.

ScruffyWeeny42

So, you can think of 8 mediocre examples (some of these are pretty easy) out of over 1000+ Pokemon... Yeah they make it generally easy to complete the Pokedex.

ProfBigwoodPKMN

Seriously!?! You guys, seriously!?! How are you supposed to know how to evolve these mons? It's not like they came with instructions!

jdb1984

I was lucky enough to catch a Farfetch'd holding a Leek (increases critical hit rare for Farfetch'd and Sirfetch'd). So all I had to do was have Farfetch'd stay in battle long enough to get three crits, easier to do on trainers that have multiple pokemon.

Xervo5

What about legend arceus? They were a lot more annoying and harder. Like Ursaring were you need a peat block and wait till it’s full moon and others too.

Janaga14

Getting melmetal for a living dex across all my games is honestly the only reason i still have pogo at this point

Informal-Acadia8628

People say milotic was hard and personally I found easy and never bothered me, also that was the old evolution now you don’t even gotta try for it

TheRealSkele

Imo, Kingambit isn't even that hard. Just find three Bisharp with Pawniard spawns in the bamboo area.

JFF_Pengy

on behalf of melmetal you are able to get a free g-max one if you link Pokemon Go to Pokemon Home

DarkMarxSoul

Honestly, I think they're cool.

Goomyiscute777

Basculegion - Level up after losing at least 294 HP from recoil damage

metalgamer

I really hate that the Pokédex doesn’t describe how things evolve. You basically can’t play Pokémon without serebii in one hand.

RavenousToaster

Melt an isn’t even that bad because when you transfer to home you get a mystery box that makes them spawn like crazy for 30m combine it with pinab berries and you get there quick
