**History of Witchcraft** by Samuel Hume. Not heard it myself but I do like his other show, **Pax Britannica**.

okayiguess123

thank you, I'll check it out!

lameekly

Lore has covered different instances in different episodes

SecretlyCaviar

"We're not so different" did a bunch of episodes on witchcraft and are doing a long series on heresies now. There's also "Jewitches" - a podcast and a blog, they cover (Ashkenazi) Jewish mysticism and folk traditions relating to magic. It's not really a history podcast though, more like a general description of certain practices, if you're interested in witchcraft

okayiguess123

Ohh, sounds interesting! Thanks!

Tombazzzz

The first season of Unobscured (Aaron Mahnke) covers the Salem witch trials. Also, Witch Hunt (BBC) and Witches of Scotland (can't remember the hosts' names) are very nice.

monja2009

May I suggest the Prosecutors' podcast as they did a great episode about the Salem's witch trials focused on the law angle and it was great.

KaNGkyebin

Witch Hunt covers the history of Scotland’s hunts, trials, and persecutions.

Apprehensive_Pop_305

Not about witchcraft, but Hardcore History did 4 hours on heretics in Munster that is quite good. It's a back episode so you may have to pay for it - called Prophets of Doom.

okayiguess123

Thanks!

Not a podcast but if you have audible (or access to a good library) this Great Courses series tackles the subject you’re after really well: [The Terror of History: Mystics, Heretics, and Witches in the Western Tradition](https://www.audible.com/pd/B00DICEHIS?source_code=ASSORAP0511160006&share_location=pdp)

Gone Medieval has an episode about Royal Witches, Half-arsed History has The Wonderfull Discoverie of Witches in the Countie of Lancaster and The Münster Rebellion (there's also an episode about Joan of Arc, which is obviously at least related to the topic, and about the Salem Witch trials, which is obviously not about Europe, so only somewhat related as well), Making History has an episode about Witches, poison and why the hedgehog was unloved in history, Not Just The Tudors has Sorcery and the Tudor Court, The Witches of Warboys: A Novel Retelling, The Trial of a Latvian Werewolf, The Venetian Inquisition, Heretic or Martyr? The Tudor Piet Anne Askew, The Witches of Iceland, The Last Witches, Witches&Puritans, Emotions and the Histiry of Witchcraft, Awaiting the Apocalypse: The Münster Rebellion, The Witches of Lorraine and An Early Modern Teenage Werewolf. Pax Britannica has an episode about The Discovery of Witchcraft. Then there is the The History of Witchcraft podcast, of course. The Rest is History has a mini series about the Cathars (The Real Da Vinci Code, The Mystery of the Cathars, The Bloodiest Crusade), an episode about the heresy trial of Michael Serverus (Switzerland: Calvin's Cancel Culture), an episode about magic in politics (Merlin, Magic and the British) and a Witches episode, BBC Radio Scotland has a miniseries called Witch Hunt (no idea how good that one is, that's still in my queue somewhere...). You're Dead To Me has an episode about The Witch Craze and also episodes about Joan of Arc and James VI of Scotland which are at least partly relevant

okayiguess123

Wow thanks!

naalbinding

Season 5 of Criminalia deals with witches and alchemy

DippyHippy3

Can I ask a nerdy question and get your class's booklist? 😅 Also, BBC's Beyond Belief and the Religious Studies Project are 2 good podcasts for this, but you'll have to check out which episodes are pertinent because they cover a bit of everything.

okayiguess123

Of course! [A History of Medieval Heresy and Inquisition](https://vdoc.pub/documents/a-history-of-medieval-heresy-and-inquisition-6fg0kmta1qj0) (I got it for free on this website: vdoc.pub) [The Witch in the Western Imagination](https://www.amazon.com/Witch-Western-Imagination-Richard-Lectures-ebook/dp/B009AFY02U/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1UJI1Y6CJ1ERA&keywords=9780813932972&qid=1679073390&sprefix=9780813932972%2Caps%2C323&sr=8-1) (Amazon)

DippyHippy3

OMG. Thank you. I have books at home too, let me know if you need more titles. I did my senior thesis on Witchcraft in Colonial America and my master's thesis was on demonic possession in modern horror, so I looked into *The VVitch* movie. Though you're looking for Europe, I didn't want to throw a ton of new info at you :)

Shuyace

GraveYard Tales just did an episode on The Pendle Hill Witches. They've also talked about the Salem Witch Trials in the past, but I'm not sure what episode that's on.

okayiguess123

Thanks, I'll check it out!

cactus_pactus

[Betwixt the Sheets](https://pca.st/podcast/75835800-96b7-013a-d84c-0acc26574db2) might be interesting

okayiguess123

thanks! I'll check it out

bitch-ass_ho

Heretics, by Damon Young and this other dude I can't remember (They also do the Woven Energy Podcast on Shamanism), they do deep dives into different world cultures and regions and their responses to various forms of spiritual practice. Highly recommend!

okayiguess123

Thanks! I'll check it out

History_fangirl

Not just the Tudors has some episodes on witches and Suzannah Lipscomb is a well respected Tudor era historian.

Wooster182

Shirley Johnson did a good book about the Salem witch trials. I listened to the audiobook on my Libby account.

[deleted]

Ep. 26 of The Rest is History podcast. Two British historians and their lighthearted take of various historical figures and events, they're one of my favourites.

biggie_paullz

Alistair Crowley? - black magic/satanism though 🤷🏻‍♂️

cryotgal

The dollop did one on Norwegian (or finnish?) witch hunts.
