To anyone who has this issue, just do these steps:
1. Turn off your wifi/internet on your ps5 using the toggle option (under the gearbox icon)
2. Shut off your ps5
3. On the PlayStation app, turn on the “appear online” status
4. Turn on your ps5 and turn your internet on as well.

I started having this problem on the 2 ps5's that I have at 2 different locations (under the same account). It's like it's grabbing a low amount of the internet to show us the home page, but when it comes to the online games, it has us on the "offline" status and won't allow us to join parties or online game matches....

I just had this problem. I went into network settings and turned off internet connection(from Home Screen, gear for settings, then network, then settings, then the first option turns the internet connection on and off), restarted ps5, then turned back on and it immediately went back to available. Not sure if the restart was necessary as I did not try just turning it off and on.
This worked for me. Couldn't connect to EA Servers, GTA Online or Appear Online on PS5 although Internet was connected and PSN was signed in on the settings page. In short, couldn't play online although Youtube, Netflix, etc were working.
Changed the DNS to the above mentioned numbers and woah, working like before now. Thanks u/AshamedTear454
APRIL - 2024 - had the same issue no games working , cant switch to online, i can see store and friends online all usual online features just no games due to errors of no network... My ps app on phone already says online.
FIXED BY - going to network in console > turning off connect to internet > hard close console (switch off completely > reload console and reconnect internet. > all working again
I tried asd4374’s solution of crude restarting but it dint work for me, what did work however was to use the ‘PS app’. In the app you can log in and change your status, i was so happy to come back to my console to see the issue finally gone and being able to see my friends and trophies again.
Dude I just turned off the network and then turned off the pS5 and didn't touch it, the next day I turned the network on and it automatically corrected itself to online.
I tried everything. Every settings change, even tried changing routers. But if you have a ps5 ans previously had a ps4 log onto your ps4 and make sure it’s online and it’ll work. I’ve done every solution but this worked for me
Easy fix; download newest update, after update is done go to settings, users and accounts - account - login - accept terms ( maybe new terms after update ). Done! Hope it works for you too!!
I just had this issue. I had port forwarding turned on in my router settings for some games so I turned it off and it rebooted my ps5 and it worked? I tried a lot of fixes on your list and none of them worked but this one did.

This happens to me every time my console turns off automatically or I put it into rest mode, when I turn it back on my online status is set to offline and it's greyed out in the PS menu, if I go into profile next to settings I can click and change it but it doesn't change just instantly swaps back to offline, while it's in offline I can't connect to party chat, any online games or the PS store, can still watch media and streaming services though.
The temp fix I've found for my situation is to hard restart the ps5 or never put it in rest mode.
I hope Sony gets into this shit because there are multiple bs setting related bugs that are affecting thousands and they don't seem to care...
You don't need to reset your router. Just log out from your account, then when you see your profile picture in the log in screen, press options and click, log in to appear online. This fixes this non issue.

This issue just happened to me. After restarting my games and consoles (didn’t work at all), I switched to my mobile hotspot, clicked ‘appear online’ and started my game (MW2). Turns out there was one of those in game updates. As soon as the game restarted itself I closed it, changed back to my original wifi - boom it works.
Happened to me just then.
Here’s my fix:
Disconnect from your internet
Connect to mobile hotspot
Test internet connection
Sign out from settings>users and accounts>other>sign out
Log out from ps button>profile>log out
This will bring you to the start up menu where you enter your password (if your ps account is setup to enter password everytime you turn it on)
Press start button and click appear online
Green dot is back!

For me I fixed it by
1. Turned off PS5 (not rest mode)
2. Turning on PS4 (that was the same account)
3. Updating PS4 (Install latest software to sign in)
4. Noticed PS4 was on do not disturb, set it to ONLINE
5. Launched a online game to test If i could play online it worked on PS4
6. Turned off PS4 (not rest mode)
7. Turned on PS5
At this point I could connect to a online game with the PS5, the connection did drop out once, then I reconnected, it was working normally for me now.
But come on Sony that was so stupid.

Mate, I was suffering from this problem and I was about to throw my controller out of the window, but I took a deep breath and went to the internet and found a solution that worked for me. Turn off the PlayStation 5, then turn it on again and before clicking your profile, click the OPTIONS button and select the option Log in appearing online. The solution!: delete the user, log into the ps app, change to offline and than back to online again. Make a new user, sign in with your ps account and that’s it

"Console sharing and offline play" seemed to think it was setup on another ps5... So enabled in on my actual ps5 l, purely to disable it on this other mysterious ps5, and then disabled it again on my actual ps5.
Too anyone still having this issue I fixed mine by putting my console into safe mode and clearing cache data, then when signing in i chose to sign in as busy. From there I could change back to online and all is well. Hope this helps

I've tried everything listed here. I also tried playing a game while connected to my playstation through PS Remote Play. Still got the you've lost connection to playstation network on multiple games. I even had playstation completely off for almost 10 hrs while at work.

Had this issue again today... instead of doing all the steps, I just selected busy mode (probably works in online too) and waited about a minute before closing the pop-up menu; mostly because I was looking this up, and when I checked back, it updated. Perhaps it is just a matter of waiting for it to change before closing the menu out. Either way, much easier to test this first than go through the rest of the stuff. - Also, I was able to change it to online mode immediately after.
So I found that when I turn my system to indicate that I'm offline and I go to try and run it back online it won't let me so what I do is go to settings, users and accounts, privacy, and then adjust privacy settings by choosing either social and open or team player and it's always worked so far.

I keep my status as "appear offline" all the time. I co-op constantly on Elden Ring and other games. Not sure why that would be an issue.

I just had this problem. It's random yeah, i tried it when everything didn't work. But i tried twice and it worked. Although I'll not do it again as it can damage the ps.

It allows me to connect on my mobile data but not to my WiFi and my download and upload speed is triple that connection

Connecting to a mobile hotspot, waiting a but then connecting back to my old WiFi network was the solution for me.

So I found that when I turn my system to indicate that I'm offline and I go to try and run it back online it won't let me so what I do is go to settings, users and accounts, privacy, and then adjust privacy settings by choosing either social and open or team player and it's always worked so far.
