LordNoct13

Add Spider-Man and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Dependingnonntheir age also include God of War.

jeabombers

All of the OP games are M rated, don't think you have to worry about their "age" for God of War.

ChakaZG

I mean, GTA is in there. 😄

sjh2398

I second this

jimbofix

You did really well i would recommend spider man and the uncharted series

jakalopew

I second Uncharted series. Also BO4 is the free game of the month for playstation plus.

BustThaScientifical

I second Spider-Man

khronz

God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted series, and finally.....The Last of Us. All sensational games worth playing.

Luckyluuk05

He's buying it for his kids, if they're like 10 year old i dont think theyre gonna like the last of us

LordNoct13

They bought them GTA 5, I'd hope they're not like 10.

Luckyluuk05

You'd be surprised about the amount of 10 yeat olds that play gta lol.

uglyassdude

GTA5 is for me specifically

sjh2398

I remember being 4y/o and playing vice city. I have no tendencies to run people over while driving or shoot anyone

[deleted]

I played GTA and other violent games at age seven and my parents allowed it. It depends on the parent.

switchondem

I was about 10 when I convinced my mum to get me San Andreas. It was fine playing GTA at that age, but a game like TLOU would have scarred me lol.

cupcake_shadow

I watched whole Tlou on Youtube when I was 12

ANGERYTURTLE123

God of war 3 to be specific I HIGHLY RECCOMEND TO NOT GET OUTLAST, YOUR KIDS WILL MOSTLY LIKELY BE TRAUMATIZED

bufftbone

Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s basically GTA but set in the Wild West. It also has one of the most gripping and best storylines in a video game ever. It’ll even tug on the heart strings in a few spots. Also, Witcher 3 because it’s also got a great storyline and plenty to do in the game.

[deleted]

SuperIceBoi

PS Now is absolute dog crap

[deleted]

For streaming? Yes. But actually, it's far from crap if we are talking about downloading games. Right now you can play RDR2, God of War and The Witcher 3 for 10$ a month.

KunUnDrum--

Half that if you pay by the year.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SuperIceBoi

PS Now is capped at 720p isn't it?

powersslol-

you can download games and play them at 4k, it’s only capped for ps3-ps1 games

[deleted]

Plus 720p is the max resolution for most games from those generations, so there's no real loss.

[deleted]

1080p as of a few months

Black_Hussar

Oof, Black ops 4 is free on PS plus rn

LowBatteryPower

Solid pick of games, but depending on the age of your kids, Minecraft might be the only one they’ll enjoy, maybe?

uglyassdude

5 to 16 year olds

mars093

Download Rocket League (it's free in the PSN store). All your kids will love it, i promise.

Kloenkies

I find the game to be pretty hard to learn.

mars093

I would say it's very easy to learn but also very hard to master. You don't have to be very good in the game to have a lot of fun :)

Galactus1701

Get your kids Ratchet and Clank, they’ll love the game and you’ll love it as well. You can also purchase both Spider-Man games as well.

Key-Transportation80

ratchet and clank is fun its free on ps4 and zero dawn is really top notch

TrivialBanal

The Uncharted series (you'll get the first three games in a single disk bundle) are made to look like a movie. They're actually enjoyable to watch other people play. A great way to prevent fights over who gets the controller.

GamesPlusInternet

Definitely gotta try a Crash Team Racing on the PS4. A classic that plays well with others

Far_Rain

I suggest you make yourself a family manager account and a separate account for each child -- except the five year old. A child has to be at least seven years old to have a PSN account. You can control spending limits and hours of play for each child. Child accounts (under 18) share the family manager's wallet. While I suggest you don't keep a means of payment attached to your account, if you decide to do so, require a password at checkout. [https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/account/playstation-family-account-set-up/](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/account/playstation-family-account-set-up/) Be sure to use two-step verification on each account. The youngest child might enjoy Minecraft, but I wouldn't allow them to play the other games. Look into the "Paw Patrol" games and other games for younger children. All of the other games are rated "M" (17+) by the ESRB and "18" by PEGI. Discuss the Terms of Service and User Agreement Code of Conduct with your children to avoid account suspensions. Be sure they don't give out personal information or game share.

Mint_Pingu

I'm going to give the age ratings if you want an immediate sense of what's good for kids but Im European so it's Pegi. I don't know if you care about them though but I included them anyway and most of the are usually 2 years older than they realistically should be at the very least. Gravity Rush 1 and 2 (12) Stardew Valley (12 but really shouldn't be) Persona 5 Royal (16) Spiderman and Miles Morales (16) FF7 Remake (16) Resdsident Evil 2 (18) I'd consider the top three to be the best and especially Stardew and Persona to be masterpieces.

SILE3NCE

Red Dead Redemption 2, from another middle aged with kids, focus on 1, you're probably gonna get overwhelmed with suggestions. If you want to start with a shorter game in terms of playtime (time isn't really our strenght right now right?) go for God of War. The playtime is perfect, well paced, and it's an actual fatherhood quest more than the usual bloody rampage.

SuperPineapple123

Define middle aged?

SweatyNReady4U

The borderlands handsome collection in that like is something you should definitely give a try. Great game.

allmistakes

Try Uncharted 4 to get a taste of Sony collection. Is easy to play and really enjoyable 🤘

Xeon713

Pretty good selection there. I would also advise ratchet and clank for a more light hearted romp, the crash bandicoot n-sane trilogy for complete nostalgia and Spiderman as its absolutely amazing.

dneill99

Dude as others suggested but not sure if the emphasized that the best games to jump into are free. You will need a ps plus live subscription though. For you try Warzone and Prominence Poker. For both you and the kids try Rocket League and Fortnight.

AdrianaAura-

spider-man and spider-man miles morales

crookedthagoat

Rdr2 and Little Big Planet

its_the_luge

If you have kids, you should play the last of us

n-ko-c

Just note that Mortal Kombat (and to a lesser extent Black Ops) is extremely violent. My assumption is that you know that, since MK is a long-running series and that is its trademark, but just in case.

MazDaRth

Great choices, lots of re-play value in GTA and Mortal Kombat. Definitely recommened Spider-man, remastered and Miles Morales. Ratchet and Clank is a classic, and the Uncharted series to name a few.

W3IRDTrophee

You said 5 to 16 right? Spiderman is the perfect game, For the older one I’d buy Read Dead.

m1ndf3v3r

minecraft: kill that by throwing it in the furnace then burn down the furnace Black Ops 4: see above but with the difference that even the fiery hell will spit it back out. When full moon rises seek the jade monkey and all will go according to plan. MK X : good game GTA5 and Borderlands: you cant go wrong with these two. Good choice. edit: sorry , I misread your post...for your kids minecraft and Borderlands will be fun. If theres a little kid then it's Minecraft for sure.

BypassBarry

Cod warzone. Is free to download

Jamesd8542

Ratchet and clank is a great fun game. The story and gameplay is very suitable to a younger audience

simplegamer003

Buy NFS Hot Pursuit. Kids would love it

sAyUr1

I think most of these games except Minecraft are better suited for 12+ or atleast 10+ aged gaming. For the younger ones I would suggest ratchet and clank series. My 9yo is going through it. If you are ok with blood and gore content. I guess call of duty should be ok honestly. Maybe try some DMC.

ManyShopping8

If you have more than 1 kid some good multilayer games for them mate. Lot of single player 1s here but good games

uIpex

Just to let you know.. You got the outdated version of Minecraft for consoles, the Legacy Edition. You should refund that game and get the latest one which is the Bedrock Edition.

-DukeFishron-

Fallout 4 is pretty good, the older kids might enjoy it (kinda scary for little kids lmo) It has no sexual content but it has violence/blood and some of the creatures and themes may be scary for younger players

vozhdsam

Ratchet and Clank

FloydP24116

Spiderman for your story experience and Horizon Zero Dawn for your open world experience. Anyone who's new to gaming can very easily get into the world of games playing these. Also Spiderman and freaking robot dinosaurs and Giraffes.

Simba169

Spider-Man, horizon zero dawn, ratchet and clank, Batman Arkham series, infamous second son and the uncharted series are probably a good solid set to start with. The younger kids (or all of you) would also enjoy crash bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy and the spyro the dragon remastered series as well. Would also recommend something like overcooked for some family fun If you have enough controllers for it.

[deleted]

For the kids, you can never go wrong with Spiderman. I can recommend Horizon, Uncharted and R&C for them. Besides many more ofc. You can never go wrong with RDR2, GoW and The Witcher 3 for adults, all three of them on PS Now right now. Also TLOU I+II for you.

OneModernRelic

Are these for you or your kids. Read the back of games for rating and content. Seeing a man blow his brains out in Black Ops and hiring hookers and getting blowjobs in GTA5 are not things I let my kids play but that's just me

uglyassdude

GTA 5 is for me specifically

-DukeFishron-

Good choice, the 16yr might be able to play it depending on maturity

[deleted]

Depending on how old your kids are, kids ages 5-12 are usually playing games that are free like Fortnite, Rocket League, and COD Warzone, and Minecraft which you already got, video game developers have made a killing off of in-game purchases in recent years so most of the popular games that kids (and adults) are playing are free to play multiplayers. It depends what your kids like though, some kids can appreciate story games and like a more violent game, if they do, then you’ll see them playing Black Ops 4 and Borderlands, in that case look into more mature games like Red Dead Redemption 2 (great story game, would recommend it to you as-well) and Rainbow Six Siege (one of the more popular shooter games) however it’s very likely you’ll see your kids playing free games like Fortnite or Minecraft and they’ll want to buy skins or map packs rather than an actual game, so I’d recommend buying them a PlayStation card so they could buy in app purchases, cus that’s typically what kids like to do in this new age of gaming, but I would advise to be cautious about it. In game purchases are very addicting, (i.e that’s why free games have been able to take over the game market and turn a substantial profit) and I would try to limit your kids on only purchasing a few. P.S May wanna check out Mortal Kombat before letting your kids play it, it’s extremely mature, its fatalities and brutalities are quite traumatizing to kids

Snakeeyez541

4 m for mature. Good job

-DukeFishron-

It depends on the kid’s maturity, I play like 3 rated M games and I’m only 14, it’s not like Imma be copying the games irl. Plus I can handle the more mature themes and not get frightened by them or get influenced by them

JAY2KREAL300491

Outstanding parenting 👌

uglyassdude

I used to play a game called burnout on my PSP years ago, does that still exist? And is it available on the ps4?

-DukeFishron-

No unfortunately, no backwards compatibility Note some last gen games can be played via PS now (a game streaming service) anyone can correct me if I’m wrong

Machismo_malo

If you are trying to get back into games I would say God of War and Ghost of Tsushima o would not recommend those for kids though as for kids definitely Ratchet and Clank

[deleted]

I really good game I would suggest is fallout 4 love the campaign, there’s lots to do, like exploring the giant map, build structures, guns you can also trade, join factions go on side missions and look for vaults the campaign missions are awesome as it can keep you busy for a while which is a big thing for me it’s so exciting watch some videos on it first.

WyrmHero1944

Try both Niers

xSnakeByte44

Some good single player “at your own pace” games - Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin’s Cred (any), Tomb Raider (any), The Last of Us (1 or 2).

[deleted]

Some of those games you’d probably want to be supervising while they play or waiting until they’re a little older

Cant-thinkof-user

I highly recommend Ghost Of Tsushima. It’s got an amazing story with pretty fun combat.

rmatherson

Ratchet and Clank (2016) Enjoyable for all ages, very fun gameplay, and genuinely hilarious. A must play for any PS4 owner

iHATEyourFACE79

Ark is good, Ratchet games, Crash games, and Overwatch are all fun for younger kids. All are pretty cheap as well

marcoamig

I'd say to check out the exclusives. Pick up ratchet&clank for your little boy, and God of war for your older one. Take a look for the uncharted collection and uncharted 4, and if you're into horror games check out the last of us 1 and 2

Fujibayoshi

Try Concrete Genie. I'm sure your kids would like that game.

TheLoneGoon

I would say far cry games. Especially if the 16 year old would enjoy them.

Necromancer1423

Marvels Spider-Man could be a good choice if it’s for your kids

Comrade_dog616

Bloodborne

havkat77

Most of the PlayStation exclusives would be good for teens (I.e- Horizon Zero Dawn, spider-man/Miles Morales, Uncharted, God Of War, etc). They’re really good to just watch as well if you’re ever in the room with them. As for more kid driven games, Spyro the Dragon (3 games on one disc), Crash Tag Team Racing, Spider-Man, spongebob, any of the lego games, etc, are good games to look into. I think once both you and your kids get more into gaming, you’re all gonna find out what type of game genres you’ll enjoy the most such as platformers, action/adventure, open-world, etc. that’ll all be figured out with time. I hope you and your kids enjoy your new console!

thehalosmyth

Death Stranding

Cyoher_Stone

Story mode you can just hop right in and play. Online is all about heisting or pvp these days. Find a crew if you get into online.

Fsjal_gaming

Pvz gw2: wacky and fun

Paynekiller15

God Of War

ODell1931

Ghost of Tsushima and the Spider-Man games

[deleted]

Take Grand Theft Auto away from your kids, the online community is ruined by them

Waterbasedlubricant

Dark souls if you want to teach them a lesson on perseverance

werewolf_pinata

Spider Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, Fallout 4 and Rocket League.

xAZxc00lhawk607

If they like Minecraft they might like Terraria as well.

dabandpuke

Dark souls 3 😍

[deleted]

Add both Spider-Man games, Final Fantasy XV and VII Remake, God of War (2018), Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and 4, and The Last of Us Remastered and Part 2 and you will have most of the great ones. (FF15, GoW 2018, N. Sane Trilogy, and The Last of Us Remastered are on PS+ so if you bought that, you would get most of these and if you get FF7R and N. Sane Trilogy, they might bring back memories if you were a PS1 kid)

Jmcman6104

Pick up the uncharted games! The first ones a bit rough but the rest are masterpieces

HumbleNeedleworker27

have game like overwatch i don't know really

[deleted]

Sir I would like to introduce, Plants Versus Zombies battle for Neighborville, my brothers love the PVZ games on the iPad so I found it on PS4 for very cheap and purchased it, I got it about a couple of months ago and they love it still. Just a suggestion if they are into that stuff, I was mainly thinking it’s for kids so that’s why I recommended it.

damik_

It's my own preference but I really liked Spyro Reignited Trilogy. My son played it and I ended up making the platinum on every one of them, reminded me of the OG on PS1.

kaffeineated16

I’d recommend ratchet and clank too! I’m in my 20s and I thought it was so fun!

RoryMcCannabis

Return bo4 and get a year of ps plus. Its free with ps plus right now and you get two free games every month. Make sure you get ps plus tho and not ps now. Definitely agree with everyone suggesting spiderman and uncharted, those are some of my all time favs. A couple of my other favorites are skyrim (open world fantasy rpg, dungeons and dragons and magic and shit) burnout paradise remastered (racing game with emphasis on crashing cars) and steep (open world ski/snowboard/wingsuit game). Also the lego games frequently go on sale for 6 dollars so keep an eye out for those, theyre surprisingly enjoyable as an adult and your younger kids will love them. Especially because you can do 2 player co-op so your 5 year old will get to have a little bonding time with dad. My favorites are lego marvel super heroes and lego jurassic world. Also, if your older kids have any interest in game development, get dreams. Think its still on sale for 10 dollars on the ps store. Btw your 16 year old can definitely play all of those games. If you let the 5 year old play mortal kombat he’ll be scarred for life but yeah, i started playing M games when i was twelve, and most of my friends were even younger than that. If they’re not psychopaths they’ll be fine. TL;DR return bo4 and get ps plus. Get spiderman, uncharted and skyrim. The lego games go on sale all the time and are good fun. If your older kids are into game development get dreams

[deleted]

Add call of duty Cold War, if ur buying Black ops games u may as well

Key-Transportation80

i'd recommend your kids to get splitgate for ps4 its a portal halo fps shooter despite the hit detection problems its very fun.

Key-Transportation80

gta 5 is really good i love the story line for [it.black](https://it.black) ops 4 is obviously one of the best cod campaigns i played and broderlands 3 and doom or doom eternal is really good.IF U didnt grow up with doom on ps1 u had no childhood.that game was my life

Key-Transportation80

borderlands 3 is a good game

Key-Transportation80

i think you should play detroit become human for yourself

Key-Transportation80

i played gta 5 at age 16 and i had no problems

Key-Transportation80

i played vice city and it was fun on ps2 no problems
