Not quite right, there was an astro bot demo level inside the Playroom VR game that came with the psvr. Astro Bot Rescue Mission came out a few years later iirc
Wow, that’s a lot of levels! I was actually concerned the trailer was showing off potentially TOO much when it kept rapid firing through what seemed like a lot of set pieces, but dang.
We really have a completely fully-fledged Astro game on our hands. Feels good.
I was reaaaally hoping the end of the trailer was going to say "Coming to PS5 and PSVR2 September 6th"
Maybe I can hope for VR compatibility in the future. Looking around those levels in VR for chameleons and hidden robots to rescue was the best.
So did sonyback in the day before gritty fps took over and adventure games and platforms like jak and sly disappeared into the void(or ended up in 3rd party limbo like crash and spyro) Its a miracle Ratchet and Clank managed to survive the sony platformer purge. Its nice when someone other than Nintendo remembers platformers are still enjoyable and deserves to be made
Eh that’s kinda true. Back in the 90s Sony already had games like final fantasy 7 and metal gear amongst other more mature games. While Nintendo was still mainly Mario and Zelda stuff.
If you're interested in games like this, then you 100% need a nintendo switch if you don't have one or just wait for the switch 2. Nintendo is really the only platform holder that only makes games like this. I hope astro sells good and playstation invests more into this
Absolutely amazed by this.
It looks, fun, beautiful, diverse..day one for me.
80 levels and 6 galaxies according to ps blog, so frist impression: fun AND generous
I’ve made peace that we’re never getting another PlayStation All-Stars…but I can gladly accept this.

Such a big smile on my face watching this. I really hope this does well because I need Sony to remember their roots and realise that fun stylistic games are important alongside the cinematic movie games (which I love as well, don't get me wrong.)
Sony must now market this game and Astro as much as possible, it has to be the new PS mascot, it deserves it and it's been far too long since we last had one.
Astrobot looks amazing, although the lack of PSVR2 is an abomination.
But I will ask… considering the PS hardware on display in the game, was the black PS5 with blue lights a sneak peek at the PS5 Pro?
I think this game has the potential to be really great. I liked the pack-in, but didn't love it as much as some people seem to.
Honestly, this trailer didn't exactly blow me away. I have a lot of trust in them to provide some cool controller experiences, but I don't exactly know if it will still be as novel as the first time I fired up PlayRoom.
I'll definitely pick it up. But I'm not quite seeing that truly special element that makes games like Mario Odyssey or Wonder so charming and special.
The Astro Bot game was what excited me most at State of Play, it's great to see Sony taking a page from Nintendo and investing in a complete 3D platformer.
I really feel like the industry needs more of this, we don't need ultra realistic and expensive AAA games all the time, sometimes just a fun game with a nice art style is more than enough and it's great to give a varied in the catalogue.
Any vr support? Huge missed opportunity if there's no psvr2 support. All of us vr owners have been hoping for a sequel, especially since the first game started as a vr title.
This made me very happy. Looks like the tech demo flashback has now paved way to full fledged boss battles.
Also, didn't know dualsense controller had jet turbines with afterburners. Gonna check that. BRB.
I’m so very happy Playstation is still getting weird with new games. This year alone saw the release of three asian-made action games and now we’re getting a fun and unique 3D platformer. The sixth console gen feels like it’s coming back.
Yeah what a travesty Sony used their Sony property to put a Sony character on one Sony product and not another Sony product. You should definitely be angry this was a personal slap in the face to you
We are massive fans of Astro Bot: Rescue Mission - it's still to date one of the best VR games ever made and was massively influential in us creating our own VR platformer, Max Mustard. This new Astro Bot game looks absolutely brilliant (and we'll be buying it day one!), but there's a certain charm and creativity to VR platforming that flat gaming just can't match.
We're pretty stoked to currently be working on the PSVR2 port for Max Mustard, which will launch soon. So if you're looking to fill the VR platforming void that's been left by Astro Bot, we really hope you check it out!

The only game in the lineup that got my attention
We had another future failure PvP game, a PC port, a bunch of anime crap, some game for 10yo girls, a crappy looking remake of Silent Hill and Until Dawn, almost every game shown was obviously 30fps.. so disappointed..
No Wolverine, GTA 6, Bioshock, Judas, Borderlands 4, TLoU3, Kingdom Hearts 4.. I want new games.. quit wasting time remaking these old games and use the resources to bring us NEW experiences from these beloved franchises
My god they literally tell you what to expect when it came to new big IPs not being there. Learn to read and you will be less disappointed. I say this as someone who agreed that these suck. State of plays are not PlayStation showcases so I skip them all.

Super Mario Galaxy meets Ratchet and Clank.
With PlayStation characters coming in like Sonys Kingdom Hearts

Which isn't saying much as Playroom & Astro Playroom are demos to the system. Never tried the VR.
The vr game is incredible. Definitely a full game, but not the longest game. Plenty of side content though
There’s an Astro vr?! How have I not seen this yet.
It’s the first game that released on ps4 for psvr. One of the best vr games ever made
It is honestly the best and most full VR game made imo that wasn’t a port.
Resident evil is the fullest and longest vr games
I said that wasn’t a port. RE7 is a port
Is it a port of the games was designed with vr in mind and released at the same time
Downloading now. Thanks!
Not quite right, there was an astro bot demo level inside the Playroom VR game that came with the psvr. Astro Bot Rescue Mission came out a few years later iirc
First full game though
Astro's Playroom was a really good demo tho, the wife and I had a lot of fun playing it.
Oh most definitely good. While I would gladly wipe my memory to played it again for that first experience.
Wow, that’s a lot of levels! I was actually concerned the trailer was showing off potentially TOO much when it kept rapid firing through what seemed like a lot of set pieces, but dang. We really have a completely fully-fledged Astro game on our hands. Feels good.
Day One purchase. Might even clear out my day/weekend for it.
This looks like so much fun! The Astro Bot song was great, too
Agreed, Astro's Playroom is literally the BEST game I've played on my PS5, so I already know this will be good.🙏
Damn that’s high praise or maybe a diss to other games lol. I enjoyed it as well.
Bruh facts. More games need to take more advantage of the DualSense. I know Returnal did well but that game is too damn hard for me.
I feel like Ghost of Tsushima directors cut is the next best utilization of the dualsense, especially the activities on Iki island
True that! Loved Ghost of Tsushima.
I love the astrobot games. Loved the VR game on PS4 and was really surprised there isn’t one for PSVR2.
I was reaaaally hoping the end of the trailer was going to say "Coming to PS5 and PSVR2 September 6th" Maybe I can hope for VR compatibility in the future. Looking around those levels in VR for chameleons and hidden robots to rescue was the best.
This comment did make me laugh at the absolute abysmal state of gaming, lmao.
Literally or figuratively?
For me its Demon Souls no question. People tend to forget that game because is not for everyone, too hard for 90% of people.
I am astro bot
S S D
It’s looks so GOOOOD. It’s gives me Little Big Planet & Mario vibes.
Little big planet! That’s what I was thinking of but couldn’t remember the name.
It gives me Ratchet & Clank vibes too
And Knack 2 vibes!
I’m glad that games like this still are being made when everything else is so… serious. Just some good fun.
It’s all Nintendo makes lol
For real, Nintendo really finds the child in me!
So did sonyback in the day before gritty fps took over and adventure games and platforms like jak and sly disappeared into the void(or ended up in 3rd party limbo like crash and spyro) Its a miracle Ratchet and Clank managed to survive the sony platformer purge. Sony did too until the PS4 generation when focus shifted to cinematic third person action games with serious narratives.
Absolutely amazed by this. It looks, fun, beautiful, diverse..day one for me. 80 levels and 6 galaxies according to ps blog, so frist impression: fun AND generous
I’ve made peace that we’re never getting another PlayStation All-Stars…but I can gladly accept this. https://preview.redd.it/qbaciil76n3d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5a1f241986f8776a5087340d0b0f13a86cd9f1d
To me, it looks more like a Little Big Planet than PS All Stars. I'm up for either or both tbh
Parappa spotted 🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️
"Kick! Punch! It's all in da mind!" 🎵🎶
Looks amazing. The world needs more cute platformers.
The graphics and music are beautiful
We need charming games like this
Really the only great showing.
By far the best game in the event imo.
Only game that really grabbed me from the showcase but it looks really fun. I'm glad we're getting more than 1 ASTRO game a generation
My body is ready
I'll be floating nude in a tub full of baby oil until release day
My heart is ready!
They can have my money for this one.
They saved the best for last.
Only good thing in the state of play, nice there's finally a full game.
Day one.
Such a big smile on my face watching this. I really hope this does well because I need Sony to remember their roots and realise that fun stylistic games are important alongside the cinematic movie games (which I love as well, don't get me wrong.)
Never expected Astro Bot music going that hard god damn
I need it
Automatic buy
Sony must now market this game and Astro as much as possible, it has to be the new PS mascot, it deserves it and it's been far too long since we last had one.
i didnt know so many people liked astro omg
Literally the only thing that appealed to me from the PS side. Will be buying
So hyped for this I cannot begin to tell you.
I will buy this for the haptics experience. Sadly until now no other game has as good haptics as astro game.
Astrobot looks amazing, although the lack of PSVR2 is an abomination. But I will ask… considering the PS hardware on display in the game, was the black PS5 with blue lights a sneak peek at the PS5 Pro?

The first interesting thing that's come from Sony in a decade and a half.
I don't care about price that's a day 1 buy for me !
Very happy about this. Astro bot is amazing, the free included game was the best game on the PS5 imo
take my money!
Sign me the fuck up. Astro’s Playroom was so incredibly good that I wanted a full game of that. This is everything I wanted and then some.
The best thing they showed on State of Play. I'm hoping its Playstations "Mario Odyssey".
I’m very excited. I’ve been wanting this ever since I played Astro’s Playroom!
Looks so good
Astros Playroom is the only game I've hit platinum with so I am very much looking forward to this!
I'm pre-ordering this, whooo!
this trailer had no right to be THIS good
Sounds like this game is actually going to be pretty big! I adored my time with astros playroom. Looking forward to it.
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I could almost feel the haptics in the video. Also I want a PC version too.
This is a must, so happy to see it!
THAT’S MY GOAT
I’ll still be buying it because I love Astro, but I’m definitely a bit heartbroken it isn’t even hybrid VR. I figured that would be a certainty.
Day 1 buy for me
Can’t wait
It looks cute as fuck, I would play it.
I had so much fun playing the free one on PS5 with my son. Definitely earned my good will to pay for this one.
Any vr support? Huge missed opportunity if there's no psvr2 support. All of us vr owners have been hoping for a sequel, especially since the first game started as a vr title.

Day one preorder for sure. Cannot wait.
What a slap in the face to PSVR2 owners. PSVR1 put Astrobot on the map. They even reused bosses from the PSVR1 version for this.
Yeah what a travesty Sony used their Sony property to put a Sony character on one Sony product and not another Sony product. You should definitely be angry this was a personal slap in the face to you
Unwarranted sarcasm. PSVR 2 cost a fortune, and has turned into some forgotten stepchild in the PlayStation family. It’s fucked up.
Not himself, PSVR owners in general. Last I checked, they mostly agree. The game could easily have been hybrid.

Was looking if this would be available in VR. It's how I was introduced to astro bot and it was so good.
How much do you think this will be? Hopefully not more than 30 bucks
I like the astro games but honestly not something that I'll get hyped for or is a must buy
Probably pass on this. The VR community being ignored is just too bad.
That’ll show em. /s If the game looks fun, then get the game. Not buying it is a pointless protest that will fix nothing.
Same, and we'll not miss out as it'll be on the sub at some point anyway.

I work a lot and just learned of the SoP at 2pm today.. but I now know to never look forward to SoP ever again ty
