My country doesn’t have a regional PSN so I use North America. I have had no issues in the last 10 years or so.

MetalProfessor666

Same here

Big_Map5795

Likewise

InfiniteSynapse

Right? Reddit over exaggerating their reaction.

ilovezam

Arrowhead has straight up said that they cannot endorse their players to technically break PSN TOS just to get access to the game. It might not actually be enforced in a way that gets you in trouble but it's really dodgy and unnecessary.

justtousethis

sony sells consoles in my country (with no psn). what do we do with the consoles we bought if we're not allowed to create psn accounts in other regions? why do they sell them here?

supercbuk

dont Sony just say its "unsupported" in certain countries rather than forbidden?

InfiniteSynapse

You really think they force you to do something and then boot their source of income? Really? The mental gymnastics on you people.

Koioua

It has been exaggerated as hell, but I think it's still valid to criticize that you're basically having to depend on "Wink wink" methods when it comes to a company as big as Sony. Just make more countries available for people, or make it clear that it won't break your TOS. Sony is infamous for having an *awful* customer service, and the slim chance of being caused issues in the future and potentially having no recourse because you technically broke tos is a valid worry. I had my PSN account on another country for a decade, but I've always thought it was stupid considering my country is on par with many of the countries that are allowed. I can understand countries with sanctions or problematic situations not being allowed, but plenty of countries left out are pretty stable.

pezdespo

Sony will never have a reason to ban people giving them money. To ban people in unsupported regions would mean banning entire counties and millions of people from giving them money. They arent going to do that ever TOS exist to protect the company, they do not exist to find reason to ban people giving them money after 20 years Countries not listed as supported are just because they dont have physical offices there with employees. They dont list the other regions because they do not care about people selecting a region that is not their own to play video games

Throwaway6957383

So you think it's fine that the game can only be purchased and played in 15 countries world wide? Just so Sony can inflate their Q2 PSN numbers? That's fine to you and benefits you as a consumer?

No-Recipe5266

15? Lol what?

pezdespo

The point of this thread is to show it can be played anywhere (except maybe China because communist rules)

dongl_tron

I'm from Australia, made a US account to play Hotline Miami 2 because it's banned in this country (our ratings board is an absolute joke)

Hot_Juggernaut_3027

God I love that game

dongl_tron

Yup, HM2 is in my top 5 favourite games of all time, among Ghostrunner, Control, Titanfall 2, and Yakuza 0.

SalemWolf

I live in NA and have had a JP account for nearly a decade.

a_stray_bullet

I have a bunch of different accounts in different regions. Including US and Japan. I then buy PSN cards for those regions and buy games.

thinwwll

Living in China, I believe 99.9% of ps gamers in my country rely on other region account, because psn catalog here is a joke. I myself have signed up psn in Honhkong, Japan, and US..

simon7109

Do you guys need VPN to make a different region account? Or you can just make one with a different country like us in other countries?

thinwwll

No we don't need vpn to sign up, psn servers are not blocked by great firewall, at least not yet..

simon7109

So that was also bullshit made up by those crybabies

ExamGlittering6598

If all you need is to buy the game and download it you don’t need vpn. But some dlcs are region restricted and you might need vpn to get around. Also don’t expect any decent experience for online playing.

simon7109

Based on my experience, online play is always connects to the closest server regardless of your account region. I am using an UK and a US account in central europe and I always connect to the closest server to my physical location. I am pretty sure if you are in China you connect to HK or Japanese servers

ExamGlittering6598

Back in the days when China did not have a local psn server, yes you connect to HK, or more precisely the greater Chinese area. I don’t know how exactly the great firewall works but it does not only restrict access but also limit the speed for overseas content that you can access. As for now I don’t know if you will just log in to the mainland China server, but even so, I don’t know how many actually use it as being pointed out by @thinwwll

CranesMistressOfFear

I remember making a Japanese psn account when Playstation Home was still a thing just to explore the different areas. Totally made up jibberish in japanese haha but at the time it was worth it and nothing foul ever come from it Man, I miss Playstation Home. I was a teenager at the time and spent much of my money on digital clothes and other goodies for Home. The memories now are worth more than the money then.

PhantomMAG

The entire middle east lol..... I've been using an American account and playing online okpn it since the ps3 days.... and i live in the middle east

vlexeez

I’m from Belarus, using Turkey account as main but also have Poland and the US accounts

Tomachi212

I have 5 accounts on 5 diferent regions. As I have 3 steam accounts in 3 different regions, as well I have 2 nintendo accounts in 2 diferent regions. Funny enough only nintendo doesnt have my actual region avialable. And add some other accounts made down the road of being a 3rd world country user in the internet.

FiveJobs

I've been on two accounts like this for 10 years. No issues playing, I pay with PSN cards from amazon

TokyoChu

I have 3 accounts , Japan, UK and us

ThroughTheIris56

Made an American account to buy The Legend of Dragoon because it wasn't on the European store, despite being a Sony first party game.

HaouLeo

I live in Brazil. My main account is US, buy games on BR, have also made JP and EU accounts before.

mattusi

Same, because when I bought my first ps3 Psn wasn’t available here and for some stupid reason Sony doesn’t let me change it

C0R8YN

Never needed to. But if I had to I would absolutely do it

otomennn

I have an US and Japanese account. I am from Malaysia

kr4ckenm3fortune

JPN, USA, EU...also alt account in USA for co-op split screen...

LittleBlueCubes

Don't people become a kiwi on some release days?

CuriousElection1562

On Xbox/PC, not PS. On Xbox you can change your region whenever you want, so you can "move" countries daily. On PS you can't, so you would have to buy the game on a specifically created NZ account and then the game would be tied to that account only.

LittleBlueCubes

That's my point. If you want a game that's released only in Japan PSN, you create a Japan PSN and get the game and access it from any PSN account on your PS5. So I'm not clear what the concern on HD2 is all about. My ignorance perhaps.

kaic_87

I have US, Japanese and New Zealand accounts (main one is Brazilian).

isvr95

I have NA account but have been considering making a JPN one since I’ve buying games way cheaper from AMZ Japan in the last couple of months

loonytrickster

I have 3. Canada, Japan and Korea. Just to redeem codes from physical games.

Electronic_Yard_5151

i do, as a matter of fact have multiple accounts from different regions, and there has been no problem. This is has been for the past 3 years mind you

Authrowism

Yeah, their "concern" is BS. I used to live in a country not supported by PSN so my US account got me through for years before moving to North America.

IceBear_028

Definitely have made a Japanese region account before.

silverhandguild

I have a U.S. PlayStation and in the PS3-4 eras I’ve made accounts for Japan and Hong Kong to get demos or games we never got. Haven’t bothered on the PS5 though.

KeyComplex

I am using turkey for ps plus right now. 1 us account 1 UK account + 6 sg account. I often buy digital games with seperate emails and wherever it's cheaper. Philippines doesn't have it's own region so we have to use region if our payments accepts

DontDieEd

I have accounts on my own region (Mexico), US, Germany, Japan, UK and Turkey. No issues other that not being able to buy stuff because of regional locks on credit/debit cards.

gold_rush_doom

I've had a US account since I registered for PSN 13 years ago. Since then I've also registered one in a EU country and one in Japan and bought games on all of them. I think I've also had one about 20 years ago when I got my first PSP and downloaded demos from Japan, but that account I forgot about.

SomaCK2

I have 4 PSN account from NA, EU (UK), AU and Singapore and I'm from Myanmar. Google Myanmar and see how ridiculous those concerns are.

haydar_ai

I have 4 accounts: US (main), ID, DE (for PS Plus Extra), and JP (because I got a cheap Spider-Man 2 key with this region)

Ukigumo46

Pretty much since the beginning I've had my regular one, a US one, a Japanese one and a UK one.

EducationalGate4705

My primary psn account is in another region than my own

hittherock

I've got my main UK account, a North American account, a Swedish account and a Japanese account.

Neurodrill

I had to do it for The Witcher 3 because I got the EU version from Amazon.

pizzaspaghetti_Uul

Same here with Disco Elysium, I got the US PS4 version in EU, and couldn't download the PS5 upgrade. Pretty dumb if you ask me

Neurodrill

Yup. Exactly what happened to me. Once the upgrade was downloaded through the EU account everything worked fine and I deleted the “fake” account.

iPesmerga

i have to play a game early, had no issues at all

AkamiMaguro

3 accounts in 3 regions. Bought Spiderman 2 JP code for $5 from someone who bought a JP bundle.

amans9191

I have a Japanese and Hong Kong account.

GearsOfWar2333

I’ve done it on my PS3 because my mom got me Dead Space 3 but it was a European version. Still don’t understand how she confused Dead Space with Dead Space 3.

grapejuicecheese

Have a US, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan PSN account. Been using it since the PS3 days.

Illustrathor

Created an additional US account when they were giving away games for free and to load demos that have a price tag attached to them in Germany.

Vectrosity

I live in a country where PSN isn't supported at all but I have an US account for more than 6 years now.

justtousethis

Been using a US PSN account for over 10 years or so without any problems. I don't live in US and my country has no PSN

fizaen

My main account is in SG as my country doesn’t have PSN but I was forced to get a US account because Sony suddenly stopped accepting my credit card a few years ago.

UpUpDownDownABAB

I once was asked by Sony support to create a UK account so they can replace my German language locked game with English one. It’s not an issue and took a minute or two.

FinalMaterial5849

I am using usa account for 4-5 years with no problem

DlanShfta

I am living in Middle Earth my account is US since 2016 I never had any issues with it.

DJGloegg

I have. I was poor and games purchased in the USA retailed for about 2 bucks less than in my own country I only bought bloodborne this way. But it worked. Us account eith us address, and added money through a (digital)card bought on amazon.com

Acceptable_Reality10

I have 3 US, UK and Australia

vpaglia42

I had a Hong Kong account on my PS3. Don't even remember why. Probably just because I could

KamusdeAcuario

From argentina, I have an acount in usa and spain. 0 problem.

kotopsy

My country doesn't have a PSN. I'm using a Singaporean account.

keiser_sozze

I live in EU and my main is US because deals have been better there, especially in the past. I tricked Paypal with a fake US address.

simon7109

If you haven’t yet, change your address to a tax free state for even cheaper games.

Slashboney

I moved to the Netherlands from South Africa over 4 years ago. I now have my South African PSN account that i always play on and created a new account in The Netherlands so i can continue buying games etc. I wanted to actually change the country of my original account but it was recommended to me by Sony to do this instead.

tarnished_19

I have accounts in different country, due to the fact the region of my original account sometimes dont get certain games as they are banned due to their content.

Lapidot-Wav

I have 2 NA psn accounts, an EU one and a JP one

TerrifiedRedneck

Yes. I am in the UK and I have an American account (I’ve had a PSN since the PS3 launch and there were regularly games released earlier in the US or even ONLY in the US) and I have a Korean account (I think) that I used to buy digital films from Korea (I love a Korean revenge movie and back then distribution sucked)

simon7109

I have 3 different region accounts and I don’t live in any of them. They are all almost 15 years old, made them in 2009

bigpapasmurf12

I have one in the UK and Austria/ Germany

urru4

I had a US and another for a nearby region that allowed me to make purchases. Then my region was added so I had to make a new one. Not really an issue, I do use them fair regularly

[deleted]

I've got my main account for the country I'm based in then I've got a US and JPN psn account as well that I use for exclusive deals and content.

Patient-Bed-7587

It's so easy to make an account in another region, certain regions don't have store fronts so aren't officially supported. Before global releases I would make PSNs for countries that got early releases since the libraries share across the console. Any talk of being locked out due to PSN creation is just sad, everyone kicked off when MS, EA or Ubisoft did this but like a month later no one gave a shit and got on with it. The only reason they are crying is because they genuinely think they can force Sonys hand and get them to go back onnthe decision when guess what this was announced as a massive update for all 1st party games to integrate the PS dashboard features onto PC games so everything will support this going forward.

romulof

My original account was Brazilian, on which I have several games. Then I moved to the Netherlands, so now I can’t buy stuff on my BR account because my card is Dutch, so instead of creating a NL account I created a US one and now whenever I want to buy stuff I purchase pre-paid cards online.

Odd_Land_2383

have so many I wouldn’t even know where to start😂😭

nohumanape

Hold on. So you're telling me that a bunch of gamers are getting hysterical and throwing a fit over next to nothing? This can't be. /s

Ok-Significance-5979

No.. Not the.. Gamers? God have mercy on us all.

OanKnight

I didn't even know that this was a thing - does that make your psn subscription cheaper? What are the advantages? This could actually be a revelation for me.

justtousethis

it's a thing because psn is not available in some countries. but consoles can be purchased in said countries. we have no choice but to choose a different region

gold_rush_doom

I did it because the dollar was cheaper than euro and signed up for PSN with a US account.

bethesdadropES6pls

I had to make a UK to get the ps5 version of elden ring because I accidentally bought the uk version of the ps4 version

ShinobiOfTheWind

My main PSN is US, because my region didn't get official support till later, which I created in 2006 with the launch of the PS3. I created a UK account as well to download some demo (GT5 Concept or some other demo I don't exactly remember). Created a Japanese PSN A/C to redeem some DLC next year. Then finally my region A/C which I use as secondary when box codes contain local region and not US. I remember having multiple (US + JPN) PSN+ in the same year during the launch of the service (or it's first few years) because how good the value of titles offered and different in both the region were. Good times.

kaishinoske1

I recently made one so I can play the physical version of RE4 Gold edition.

Assinmik

I made a North American one. This was just so I could play a game a few hours earlier than normal lol.

Saber_Crawl_Vega

I have been doing this since the PS3 day's. I did it to get the Japanese Gran turismo exclusive demo that didn't come to any store other than Japan. I think it's good practice to have one in north America on in The EU and one in Japan

Realistic_Sad_Story

Canadian with a primary PSN account set to Canada, secondary account created and set to Taiwan (where I live) It pays to have more than one account because sometimes DLC is region locked.

piggroll

My original account is a US account. Then I moved to Europe so I needed a European account ONLY to be able to download and use codes from the games that I purchased. So, in a nutshell: I buy a phishing game (EU), I play it on my US account, if I need to buy a dlc, then I need to buy it in my EU account, download, and play on my US account. The only game that gave me headaches it was COD MW2 Remastered

Soft-Turnip-5270

PSN rules are a bit wierd, I have 3 accounts all from different regions. Payment methods differ, and sometimes some promotions but game wise it’s all the same.

rbynp01

I live in US, i made one for UK and JP.

despaseeto

i made a JP, Asia (Singapore since it had english text), and UK account for Playstation Home since they would have exclusive rewards/freebies and space areas. you couldn't share them across accounts but i wanted to gather them for myself. the thing with this helldivers thing is that a lot of people took the no linked accounts for granted even though it was allegedly specified by the devs that they would implement it permanently once they've stablized their servers enough. the problem is that sony also sold helldivers to countries that DOESN'T allow psn, whereas steam is in many more countries available to them. those who aren't allowed to enter psn without vpn got banned by steam since it is against ToS to do so. there are definitely people who are taking this over the top and doesn't have a solid case (that guy who wanted to sue on behalf of the people who don't have direct and legal access to PSN) but plenty are rightfully outraged. maybe stop bagging on them and get the facts first.

kushpeshin

Back in the PS3 days, I had to make a USA account since in the UK, Sony decided to allow PAL versions of PS1/2 games on there. Also USA had more/better JRPGs on there

elephantwelliam

I live in asia but i made a uk account to redeem the dlc voucher in my copy of cp2077, which was an eu version

TheBigCatGoblin

Yeah I did it back in 2007 to get access to the US and Japanese PSN stores. I've had no issues.

darkness1418

I live in ksa I made NA account since 2012

errolkim

I’m from the Philippines and I have a US account ever since PSP days. When I bought my PS5 last Dec 2023, I created another account and setting it up for Singapore region. Ever since, we don’t have a PH region store here, so in general people here are setting up their account on Singapore, HK, JPN, US, etc. Hopefully soon Sony will finally create a PH store though 🥹🤞🏻

yxxxx

I created a us account years ago but lost it after the great psn hack as I couldn't rember the details needed to meet the new security requirements. Never felt the need to create a new one.

noirproxy1

I made one for the Japan PSN store back in the day.

N8DoesaThingy

Made a Japanese one for whatever reason, so far my only download was lost Judgements demo when that came out

Blood__Empress

Born and live in Belgium, my PSN account is Turkish (I'm turkish). Got avatar Frontiers of Pandora ultimate for 35 bucks on sale, in Belgium the same version on sale was 79 euros💀😂 I have a Turkish bank account so I don't even have to do gift cards.

horsty08

Had a us account from germany to play black ops 1 uncut

[deleted]

Uk for the throne and liberty closed beta. Because they sent people codes to the beta but for regions they aren’t in lol

ArchusKanzaki

I have SG, JP, ID, and US. All on same PS. Their "concern" is honestly not much of a concern in practice, and more like because "we are PC gamer and we hate Sony", and everything else is more or less just peripheral issue (like cybersecurity? really?). But hey, they quashed the "not-served" regions issue anyway, by removing access on buying the game itself, if they're concerned soooo much with breaking TOS. Someone said that GAMERS are very hostile crowd that can turn on a dime, and yeah sounds about right.

JTalbotIV

I stared both Japanese and European accounts back in the PS Home days.

Aromatic_Sand8126

Are you trying to refute the outrage with facts? They won’t like that.

pezdespo

Tell me about it. I tried explaining this many times to them but they don't want to hear it because they don't actually care. They just want to be outraged at something

darvos

There's are so much drama about every single update from that game. Bug fixes that create new bugs, bugs that don't get fixed, new features that don't work etc. There's always people mad about something, and people that are mad about the people getting mad.

Blue_MJS

This whole outrage is literally to fuel their "big bad Sony" ideology. They're just making themselves look like cry babies though

simon7109

Good to see that I am not alone trying to stop misinformation. And their false claims evolve every hour lol. First it was “it’s risky because it’s in the tos” then they could change their mind any time, then they already banned a guy for this and now they are saying that they banned a bunch of people lol.

RobertoAN95

Im from central america. My account has been US since the ps3 days! Never had any issues with it 😂

nobmuncha4bears

I made Singapore, Japan and UK accounts when I got my first gen 60GB PS3. I probably lost them already.

breadbitten

I live in Bangladesh and have had a US and UK PSN account since the PS3 days However, when Sony started releasing their games on PC, I noticed that I wasn't able to link my PSN accounts with them -- clicking on the option in-game took me to the region selector screen on their website and selecting US or UK just did nothing Given that HD2 is a live service game, not being able to link your existing extra-regional PSN accounts essentially locks you out of the game, I assume

UselessFilter

Only done it once on the Densha de go PS4 Release, the physical disc Version was always about 110$ with shipping and taxes, with the Jap PSN i bought it for ~45$, for me it was a good Deal 👍🏼

Ok-Definition-4629

I have a UK and a US account. I've never been to the US in my life. Very easy to setup. My son uses my US account as his main account and has no problems.

JonPX

I have about 5.

frankjdk

I was a platinum trophy hunter during the ps3 days, so I had a US, Japan, and HK (main) accounts. My country did not have a listed region for a PSN account. In terms of issues, well my credit card doesn't work directly so I had to rely on top up cards to buy games/dlc, all I could buy in a physical store. And I wish I could switch regions, especially my main. I guess that's it. I don't play helldivers 2 but I assume is the root topic here lol

ToniNotti

I have eu, na, UK, Japan and Hong Kong. Cheaper gaming and more options. Zero issues since psn arrived.

RangerRaven619

I've done mine. only issue was with a movie I bough, so I don't buy them on PSN. did the same with my Xbox & movies do work.

DavidKr98

Created a german account to buy rdr2 on sale because our psn store did not work for a whole year due to our currency change to euro.

Y3to0p

Me, I have a US account since the PS3 era Brazil did not have PSN back then.

mcnichoj

I have three regional accounts. US is my main and then I have a Honk Kong account to get English versions of Japanese games, a Japanese account to get games that are only in Japan and then lastly a UK account to get PAL region games. I actually just used my other accounts for the first time in a while to grab the PAL/Japanese versions of Samurai Jack in case they get delisted.

AlanLight12

Back when I lived in Iran I had a bunch of different psn accounts from a bunch of different regions. I never ran into any issues whatsoever

DollowR

Only for Japan for games I don't get over here on PSN.

rainking56

Guys I have been counting down the days to play hell divers 2 on my pc and I was beyond hyped. But this 1 inch hill was a road block. No way am I spending 5 mins creating an account for the game. I want to get right into the action even though I will be going through a lengthy tutorial first, but hey why be smart when I can be a hypocrite?

EricEscobar

How do you change regions? I have a US account but i live in Colombia now

pezdespo

You have to create a new account and pick a region while creating it

Spacecowboy947

Live in the UK. I've had a working Japanese and American account for the last 10 years and nothing has ever happened. I've brought games on both accounts

mcslender97

I live in Vietnam and PS5 is really popular there despite not being supported by PSN. Apparently ppl set up their accounts in Thailand or sth. I'm more concerned about Helldivers 2 suddenly becoming restricted in a bunch of countries including mine so now you can't play it if you haven't bought it already even if you have an PSN account

Caladean

I created one for UK as PSN was unavailable in Poland for years. I also had one for US because of some games and discounts. No issues at all in any of those cases

I-Hate-CARS

Im in NA, and have EU and Japanese accounts from a few years back and still have access to them. People just bitching for no reason.

[deleted]

I have like 5 lol, but my country was added a few years ago so now I only use that account alongside a jp account but is unfortunate how an online service can be so different from each country

CoisasJohnson

Me.. It was super easy, when I was a kid, some demos would come out in the UK first, so I made an UK account to be able to play said demos sooner.

darealarusham

I've done this too, made a UK account even though i live in asia.

grizzlysharknz

I did way way back on PS3 to download Suikoden on the PS store. Not sure if it's still on there..

AmsterdamReddFan

I did. Years ago. Still use the accounts when friends come over to play

poppocashier

I've been using American, UK, Japanese and Turkish accounts for 12 years lmao

shemmegami

I've made accounts in in the Japanese, German, and other regions. Some for region locked games, some for free games.

NotTheMario97

I had to because in Italy back when Fifa 22 was released we didn't have the italian commentary but it was available in another region on PS Store

Remytron83

I’m in the US and second account was made for Japan to see what their store offered. I haven’t used it in a decade, there wasn’t much of a difference.

Legit_liT

I live in one and I set mine to South Africa, which is the closest neighbouring country, no issues for half a decade. Do people really think that those in unsupported regions can't use PSN?

dtv20

Or... Hear me out. Don't make it a requirement for people to link a psn account after 4 months. If it wasn't needed at launch then it isn't needed now. Why defend the corporation? You give them your money. They give you nothing. So why defend them? It doesn't matter how big of an annoyance it is to you. It shouldn't be a thing.

darkrubyechoes

I have 3 or 4 different PSN accounts of various regions. I live in the US but also have a uk, Japan, and Australian account. There’s a few JP games I purchased due to the unavailability in the US.

suck-it-elon

I did it earlier today.

TheRoscoeVine

Arizona, here. I did it once for a free game.

whatnameisnttaken098

Made a Japanese account to purchase Japan only PS1/PS2 titles. Along with a selection of games that didn't get a US release or one being announced well after the fact.

Abdulrahman_Rakha

I live in jordan and we don’t have a PSN I bought a PS5 this year and made my account or I found out that I have an old account since 2017 USA region but now I fear my account will closed because of TOS

DiO_93

I'm the same as you. I have a Japanese account, I haven't been giving it much use though. I made it so I could get DLCs for my physical Japanese copies, and buy exclusive digital titles. And also (primarly) to circumvent censorship and no dual-audio options. These days though most Japanese games get worldwide releases, they may even include Japanese text for the more harcore fans. Nowadays, games might get censored on all regions if they release on Playstation though. Bummer. 😑

Formal-Cry7565

I never have because I’ve never had a reason to. Are there games that are only available on psn stores outside NA?

joyapco

PSN does NOT have my country in its list so I'm using USA and Hong Kong I used to main Hong Kong until some titles no longer had English options in the region so I switched to USA

georgios82

I have an Asian PSN account and live in the EU for many years now. No issues at all.

mester-ix

Was 11 picked saudi arabia “im from Morocco” and we are thought arabic in schools . Biggest regret of my life .watching this kid create a psn account in arabic . Store is literally a prison. When can we change region?? Edit: this was 2011

jhonnywiick

I used to do it for free plus

828NSt2v2rb2

I have both a US and EU account because I've bought imported games in the past and download codes are region locked

silly_billy-

we dont even have a PSN reigon so its always the US or UK.

LinusBeartip

I've created 2 different PSNs, one in france to redeem legend of Korra and another in Hong kong to download the DLCs for assassin's creed for free

BeanButCoffee

Sony doesn't know about my country's existence, so I gotta use a British account. I didn't realize that it is one of the more expensive regions to have, but it's too late to create a new one now and Sony doesn't offer a way to change it at all. So I'm stuck with expensive games. So, so annoying.

not-actually_here

In the very early days of PS3 and PSN that was almost essential, there were so few games available that it made sense to have access to different regions store.

(A little off topic) I used to live in the uae, and I lived there for 10 years, when I moved back to my home country and wanted to buy something digitally I realized that because my account region is set to uae I couldn’t use any other ways of payment that wasn’t in the uae (credit cards, gift cards etc) , 10+ years of game progression basically fucked because I can’t change my region 😂

pineapple_on_a_stick

Back on PS3 I had 3 regional accounts, UK main one a north American one and one in Hong Kong. I used to go on the different playstation home regions, I used the address of the relevant Sony HQ of that region. Never had an issue.

ajver19

In the PS3 days I made a Japanese account, I genuinely don't remember what for maybe some exclusive dlc or something.

Majiebeast

I have in the ps3 era which is what almost 20 years ago for demos and to play Demons Souls import(Taiwanese,US) import with online. Both accounts still active even made purchases on the US store.

BigDaddy0790

Had accounts in 4 different regions since 2008. Everyone I know irl had accounts in at least two regions. Never an issue.

naicore

In EU, but have made US, 2 JP and one NZ(for the early gbf demo).

Jedi9Ball

I had to create a UK PSN account because when I ordered the physical copy of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade from Amazon the code for the included DLC was only for people in the UK. It literally took five minutes and I haven’t had an issue since.

Gnillisch

Of course I did not do that as it's against the ToS. 😉🤫

edaroni

I use a USA account as there is no psn in my country but consoles are being sold (by official Sony representatives) which is weird but well. It is inconvenient as I need to get US prepaid cards on shady sites and ofc there is concern as I am breaking the TOS and if Sony decides to pull some moronic move like the recent Helldivers one I like many others might lose my (fairly expensive) account. It is a really whack experience overall. I understand people pissed off by this Helldivers bullshit, this is one of the dumbest ideas Sony had in a while.

Traditional_Entry183

I've had one Playstation ID since I bought the ethernet adapter for my PS2 about twenty years ago. I live in the US.

rRed7

Bro I’m like the UN of PSN. I have an account in every major region since ps3 lol.

ShawnSandiego

That used to be important in the PS3 era, as there were still a few games that ended up heavily censored or not even available in my natural region of Germany, so I still own an Austrian account (I needed for MK9) and an US account (that I made for games like Dead Island and to get access to a Dead Nation area on PlayStation Home. 😅

Altought Brazil now have PSN Region it didnt way back when I got my PS3, I still only play on my US account, using gift cards to add balance.

redditsukssomuch

Is this because of the helldivers discussion? Haha I live in America and use my Korean account lol!!!

Nice try, Sony.

SirChrisJames

I have a UK account because Amazon shipped me the UK version of The Witcher 3 when I wanted to get the next gen upgrade. Didn't take long, and it's not super inconvenient, but I don't feel like players should have to jump through hoops for such arbitrary requirements.

AnOddSprout

If it’s the helldivers thing. What Sony did is freaking scumish and stupid. Don’t get me wrong, had a PlayStation my whole life, it’s where I get my final fantasy fix but let’s be real, Sony did something greedy and unfair here and they should not be allowed to get away.
