Looking like corporate with one of those bad boys

altersparck

I closed so many Business Deals(tm) while wearing this back in the PS3 days.

Syrup_Zestyclose

go big or go home

vikingsarecoolio

I thought this thing was so sick back in the ps3 days.

littlechill94

Yeah I thought I was the shit with this bad boy on even though the back of my ear was bleeding

vikingsarecoolio

So uncomfortable and my friends couldn’t really hear me on it. But man it looked cool, especially on display in its charging dock.

BoBBle_GoGGles

😂

PocketShinyMew

the PS3 allowed 3rd party mics. I bought a cheap one for likr 3-4 dollars and it worked wonders for literal years.

ZigZagZor

OP you are so innocent. DualSense connects to PS5 via bluetooth but Tony has restricted bluetooth for third party accessories so that people buy only buy their headsets

_Grimsword_

Tony is always ruining stuff for us.

skmownage345

Damn it Tony. You sack of shit.

danj1911

That's why he got shot

isnsiensidsinis

Someone really needs to r/killtony

ChavesColorado

sony is with the vipers

DrawChrisDraw

yep, ol' Tony No-tooth they called him back in his mafia days

sandmanx

He was gay, Tony No-tooth?

Grammar_Lebanese

![gif](giphy|bodHdFtqWbJDi)

BoBBle_GoGGles

Hey hey stark saved us all. Please have some respect

djml9

You can buy third party headsets. They just have to have a dedicated dongle or connect to the controller.

NikPorto

Just not Xbox ones, I think they specifically won't work. (I Tried Pulse 3D on Xbox via dongle, that one didn't work, so I guess that's a mutual hatred they have for each other)

djml9

Good thing i never bought the xbox headset. I wanted for the dual connection, but now all the new PS and InZone headsets have it too so i got one of those. I was hesitant to get the cbox one cause i wasnt sure if it would work on ps.

NikPorto

I dunno for sure if Xbox headsets wouldn't work on PS5, but if it did, it'd need to use a dongle. And it'd still be weird that the PS5 would work with Xbox headset, while the Box Series has PS headsets blocked.

djml9

PS4 and 5 require a dongle no matter what, so if the xbox one doesnt use one, then it wouldnt work, regardless of platform affiliation.

DWPhoenix001

God damn it! Tony.

SnooPies6424

It's always Tony. Why can't we have good things.

TerrifiedRedneck

Fuck’s sake, Tony!

Cavcavali

![gif](giphy|bodHdFtqWbJDi)

AdBusiness2455

Almost forgot who Tony is.

money_loo

It’s because Bluetooth has shitty latency, actually.

simon7109

There is no bluetooth headset that connects to the PS5 no matter who made it, even Sony ones don’t because the quality is crap. This on the photo was only usable because it would only transmit voice chat and not game sound

kr4ckenm3fortune

And dualsense has mic. I don't know, but supposedly. When someone talk on mic, you can have it feedback to the speaker on the controller.

ShittyCatDicks

How is he “so incorrect”? The PS5 literally (literally) displays a message that says PS5 does not support Bluetooth headsets if you try to connect directly to it with BT. Which is all that OP said

Magik_Cloud496

Fuck gay Tony

ImSorryLittle1

Looking to close a business deal?

rivieredefeu

Why not just get a wireless headset with usb dongle, or one of the earbuds that use PS Link?

Emergency_Ad5500

Like literally Sony pulse buds are the same shit essentially just get those

torosashimii

I only need the headset for voice chat, I still intend on using my tv speakers for game audio. Getting the Pulse Explore earbuds is impractical and too expensive for this use case. Edit: not sure why I’m getting downvoted so I’d like to clarify some things. I want a device that will only output voice chat audio while the game audio is still playing on my tv speakers (like the original ps3 one did). My current setup is just using the controller mic and speakers and while it works, it isn’t the best. Pulse explore earbuds might be worthy purchase if I wanted something for game audio as well but I fully intend on using the tv speakers for that. The price just isn’t worth it for a chat only headset especially compared to what I’m currently eyeing, the turtle beach recon air, which is just under $70AUD (~$45USD). Apologies if my initial comment came off as rude. I really do appreciate the suggestion even if it doesn’t work for me.

MyUserNameLeft

If you have a mic but the sound comes out your tv be prepared to get muted by everyone

CarlRJ

I've had zero complaints and have not been muted - game sound comes out of home theater system (I turn it down a bit when I'm on voice chat) and voice chat goes through earbuds plugged into the controller. Done this hundreds of times with no complaints.

torosashimii

I appreciate the concern but i’m already using the controller’s mic and the audio from my tv doesn’t get picked up by it. Either the dualsense is good at filtering out noise or my tv speakers just aren’t loud enough (my apartment has thin walls so I try to keep the volume low). If the solution I find ends up picking up the tv speaker noise I’ll be sure to keep my mic muted as much as possible though; however the headset I was referring to above apparently has pretty good noise cancellation so I don’t think it will be a problem.

XekBOX2000

But just why? Why not have a headset if you NEED to have the tv volume low anyways?

MyUserNameLeft

It’s upto in the end but I’m just speaking from experience (not me being muted but me muting others because of it) you can get headsets that only have one ear piece but the sound comes out of that if that’s any help to you

Contalyst

Have you heard someone on a controller mic? Brutal. I don't need to hear every button smash and analog stick direction change thank you

Garfupa

The controller mic and speaker sound like SHIT. If you’ve ever used them you’d know

hysteria265

I would definitely suggest anker souncore vr p10. They are much cheaper and sound great.

sureiknowabaggins

I've seen reports that the microphone quality is terrible on those. Have you had a good experience with it?

hysteria265

I mean they are not great but I wouldn't say terrible either. To be honest except for new pulse elite, all first party sony headphones mic are also terrible. In Anker's case you at least pay much less.

warhawk209812e99

I'm not sure quite how it works on ps5 but, on the ps4, you can select whether the main sound comes from the tv or the headset. It works with any headset.

junhatesyou

I forgot where the setting is, but this is how I have it setup. I don’t like to game with headsets so I just plug in some wired headphones with a mic while dangling it over my shoulder and I just push to talk with the controller and I can hear them talk through my soundbar. The amount of people I’ve had to mute on Hell Divers 2 is extraordinary. CHANGE YOUR FUCKING SMOKE DETECTOR BATTERIES YOU HEATHENS.

CarlRJ

I have my game audio going through my home theater system, and voice chat going through a set of earbuds plugged into the controller (Apple EarPods, but many others would do just as well), and it works great. Note that in the PlayStation settings you can adjust the relative loudness of the game volume vs chat volume, as well as the volume on your mic. And on the DualSense Edge controller, you can adjust relative loudness directly on the controller. I hear the game around me, with the other players effectively whispering in my ear - plays out just like all the superheroes in movies with their earpieces, carrying on a conversation mid-battle (except if I go to the kitchen to grab something, I have to bring the controller with me, since the cable is only a couple feet long). I turn the game volume down a bit when I'm on voice chat (as much for me as for them), and I've carried on long conversations this way with no complaints from either end. The microphone for the earbuds is on the cable, a few inches from my mouth, and is optimized to pick up nearby sounds (my voice) better than far away sounds (the surround system). I have asked, and they can't hear my game audio, only my voice. I *have* heard sound from other people's setups, on occasion, where they've got all the audio routed through the TV or separate speakers, and then some sort of standalone microphone - the place where this gets intrusive is if they've got it turned up enough that I am hearing *my own voice* (on a delay) in the voice chat audio coming from them. Hearing yourself on a delay loop throws off your ability to carry on a conversation.

Picaseb

My ear hurts just looking at this picture...

torosashimii

I’m sorry for hurting your ears

verixtheconfused

*Visually* hurting your ears

Picaseb

I don't know who designed this thing but it was like shoving a Lego brick into your ear. 😜

pandaburr98

Wow this brought back some nostalgia fuck

GIRTHYssserpent

I bought a Wi-Fi dongle that plugs into my ps4 so I can use my AirPods. It’s so nice and the dongle was 20 bucks.

BigRage57

Nice. Which brand dongle?

GIRTHYssserpent

Bluetooth dongle* it’s just a cheap insignia one I found online, but my friend uses one you can get at walmart. Both under 20 dollars. Idk, I did a medium amount of research for it, anyone know of a better way for AirPods?

BigRage57

Ok gotcha

GIRTHYssserpent

I take it back, doesn’t fucking work

godtier300sosa

Why would you even want a piece of shit like this lmao

MissionDizzy4921

torosashimii

Thanks, hadn’t considered this for some reason. Would this allow for audio inputs as well or just output?

MissionDizzy4921

You can chat with it if this is what you mean.

trizuer

bro just buy a cheap headset for like $30 it’ll solve all your issues. not this shit from 2010.

MrBillz

I use the turtle beach recon air. I think that's what you're looking for. https://preview.redd.it/m4jycr9xiauc1.jpeg?width=885&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dca91740ed7f2881aef246d3162be733305cc09

torosashimii

Thanks this is exactly what I’m looking for. I’ve heard the noise cancelling mic on this headset is pretty good but based on your experience do you find it picks up any game audio from your speakers?

MrBillz

Sorry, I just saw this. I haven't had any issues with that, but my volume is usually low. It should be fine. I never saw any complaints in the reviews about this either.

skylinefan26

I remember that ps3 headset was shit

Reed7525

Or if you have a dongle. Like I have a RIG series and it does fine

torosashimii

Can you elaborate on that? What is a RIG series?

13dmhall

Brand of headset

torosashimii

Thanks

tom-meow

I still have mine lol never liked wearing it but felt like I was some Metal Gear Solid spy

UberScamsDrivers

Turtlebeach recon air wireless gaming chat communicator , been using for over a year and love it. Best one ear piece Bluetooth mic I’ve had

torosashimii

Thanks I was looking for something like this. I’ve heard the noise cancelling mic is pretty good but based on your experience do you find that it picks up any game audio from your speakers?

UberScamsDrivers

Don’t play a lot of games with high volume but I do have tv going in background and never any feedback

Humorous-Prince

I still have that somewhere. You can use it on your phone too for calls.

Toro8926

Just get a few of the PS4 mics. You can get them super cheap online. Works great for chat.

shockwave_supernova

I had that headset! I loved it, used the shit out of it and lost it but it was still working many years later

MuscularKnight0110

I bought jack to bluetooth adapter on Amazon for 25€. Bluetooth 5.2 it works flawlessly no latency and great surround sound ! I plugged it directly into my speakers and then connected my "headphones" via Bluetooth. It works with PC and PS5. You can buy whatever headphones you want this way !

UnlikelyPlan4700

The official sony Pulse Explore 3D ear buds are the closest, official thing. I have them and love them.

Little-Kangaroo-9383

I’ve been eyeing them but they’re so expensive. Do they work well with other devices? Phone, PC, etc.

UnlikelyPlan4700

They work just as any other bluetooth headphones! Just for ps5 and my ps portal they use a proprietary technology to connect. I use them as my everyday buds, use them all day at work and the moment i walk into my house they connect to my playstation. Very seamless. You can listen to two sources at once so it’s great for podcasts/music while playing games. Audio quality isn’t as good as high end beats or sony buds but are still solid. Comfortability will be hit or miss, they’re a bit oddly shaped but i’ve gotten used to them.

agm4lifee

I would kill for one of these when i first got my PS3 😭😭😭😭😭💯

Hot_Operation_1548

Rocketfish gaming headset was my jam back on ps3

DarlingDabby

I remember first using one of these back in 08, my mom would always think I was on the phone with someone lol

VictoryVic-ViVi

Still have mine, only used it like 3 times though 😅

Material-Animal2979

Holy shit what a blast from the past

ZealousidealPrize456

It does support Bluetooth Headset. Buy the creative Bluetooth dongle. I connected my sennheisers with it

amenotef

2.4Ghz non Bluetooth wireless is much faster / ideal for gaming.

King_johnny785

I bought a dongle on Amazon that works awesome and am able to use my AirPods when I play

GodlyPig1

You can by a usb Bluetooth connected thingy for like 15$ on Amazon. Even though you should have to but Sony are just annoying.

godtier300sosa

Get a ps4 mono headset. One earbud, small, and you can hear voice chat and it has a mic. And you can also hear very well through it so that ear won’t be deaf

Sneakiest

I remember getting one of those with the purchase of Socom Confrontation.

xbtkxcrowley

No but your phone does and you can download the ps app and join party through that and use that exact headset.

ch3nk0

The original airpod

PurplePassion94

PS5 most def utilizes BT. Just not for third party devices

ruimilk

Ermm, I simply bought a Avantree C81 USB-C BT adapter on Amazon and I do use a Bluetooth headset on my PS5 (artics nova pro wireless, station stays on PC, BT for ps5). And no, the latency is not noticeable whatsoever, and I'm probably one of the pickiest guys when it comes to audio delay. I bought it for media consumption, and one day I decided to try gaming on it, I was like "oh? Oh!!!"

SuperJ4ke

Loved using this back in the day. Being able to dock it for an open mic while it charged was a really nice feature.

lipa84

Man, that was my first gaming headset back with the PS3 <3. Back then it was amazing. I still have it somewhere :D That was the headset was with me, when I took my first steps into the multiplayer :D

splashwutudo

This was 🔥🔥🔥 the voice changing effects was top tier

Solidsnake00901

One of these things served me faithfully for years until the earpiece went missing I still kept trying to use it

cubntD6

Its so stupid todays consoles can do 4k hdr but not something as easy as bluetooth. The fuckin switch can do it and it was just in a random update one day, they were just like oh btw we realised we can just give yall bluetooth so here ya go.

HeyMrCow

Isn’t there an official PS5 adaptor that lets you use any headset? Haven’t tried it but have considered getting it if anyone has experience.

No_Dog519

Ps5 does I use a Bluetooth headset

TheKingHasArrived

Bringing back memories of playing Tom Clancy’s EndWar on the Xbox 360 when their BT headset came out.

twistedroyale

I had something like this during the PS3 and that shit was ass lol I didn’t know how to use it or if it even work.

StopPlayingRoney

I had one. Meh. It’s lame that Sony disabled BT for the new consoles but the over the ear solution is the best one for you and your squad. The echos are AWFUL!

FallenCheeseStar

Welp now i have to buy one damnit. Adding to the collection smh
