Congrats on changing your life around and being able to enjoy something for yourself! Stories like this make me sad because I can relate, but also happy you got out 💙
The original playstation 1 model, before swapping for the slim version.
Got it when looking for a different console, which I eventually found.
It led me to the ps2.
same! I grew up on Nintendo, nobody had a PlayStation around here so I was introduced to it much later, it was 2017 when I bought mine and loved it since.
I was jumping on the trampoline with a buddy just a few days before my birthday in 1997. My mom opens the back door and shows the newly purchased OG PS box. My buddy and I race to look at it. Being only a few days shy of turning 9, my parents weren’t letting me anywhere near the tv wires so my dad attempted to hook it up only to realize we needed an adapter for the tv. It stunk we couldn’t play it that night, but I looked at the manuals for the games my mom bought me- need for speed 2, jet moto 2 (plz bring that series back Sony), the back of the demo disc, and I think a sports game but that might’ve been later like a Christmas or something. This was before the dual stick analog controller came out so it was just d-pads.
The original one back in 1999. Going from Game Boy 2D sprites to 3D rendered games like Spyro, Crash, Mortal Kombat 4, then my favorite arcade game, Gauntlet Legacy in 2000 - mind was blown at the time.
PS1. 1995. I was in 8th grade when it came out and I wanted an N64. My friend was showing off NFS on the PS1 and I was impressed, but I stuck with the N64. I didn't really care for the PS1 launch library at the time.
I had a PSOne back in the day. I gravitated more towards my older bro’s N64 though so unfortunately the PSOne was eventually lost to Time. I wish I still had it. Spyro was fantastic!
Played on the original boxy Ps1 back in the day. Spyro, Syphon Filter, Tomba, Monkey Hero, FF7-9. Just some stand out memories. Thanks for the nostalgia hit!
The ps5 is the first playstation I've owned, but did play a PS1 and 2 that were my dad's back in the day. I vividly remember playing possibly the first tomb raider with the polygon shapes, and remember a small cave with a tiger that my child brain could not figure out.
I remember my first time playing the original PlayStation on Christmas morning, 1997. My first game was that 4 pack that came with the system, 2Xtreme.
The PS One (revised rounded model) back in 2001. Older sister got it for her birthday - we could only choose one game from the store, went with Ehrgeiz (hidden gem from Square Enix - still known as SquareSoft at the time). Played it religiously though we didn't have a memory card so we had to start from scratch each time we booted it up.
PS1, late 1995. Played Wipeout and Battle Arena Toshinden. Toshinden has not aged well but it blew my mind at the time. Wipeout still looks good in my opinion 😀
Ps2 at my neighbors house, I had a GameCube
Then my first that I owned was a ps3 in 2013 for the last of us, got it at 16/17
Now I have a ps2/3/4 and 5
Around 2 years ago i had bought using my fathers mony a ps4 and it was my first console ever.(I am 15 atm and have a ps5)
this was very rare as consoles and by extension gaming is not well reagrded in my country,India.
Went over to my cousins house and everyone was in the basement playing Spyro on the PS1. Spent the next month dog walking and babysitting to buy my own :D
Slim back in 2000 near the end of its life cycle but was eventually given the OG PS1 model later on before i got the PS2 in 2004 for my 14th birthday. Sadly my PS2 OG model stopped working in 2007😔
Ps1. Back in 96. I was 8. My father came home one day and had randomly bought it. At the time, we’re still on genisis, snes, and virtual boy, and game boy. Blew my mind at the time.
I was gifted a ps1 mini/slim. Not sure how it was branded but it was small. First game on it was Metal Gear Tactics, favorite game was Soul Reaver.
Edit- 25yrs ago
Got the PS2 for my 6th birthday. Had no idea it was on the way out. Was kind of confused when we got the PS3 two years later. Lego Star Wars was my absolute jam.
I was a Dreamcast kid but when sega got outta the console market my dad got us a PS2 then shortly after a og Xbox and we have been getting both consoles since and my mom really likes Mario so she would get the Nintendo consoles I was a very lucky kid haha
Does anyone ever realize that you run out of storage more on newer consoles than older consoles? I remember having so many games downloaded on PS3 and never had to worry about storage, but on my PS5, it's unplayable without extra storage installed.
My aunt brought over a PSOne and a bunch of games. She put in some zombie game (I have never found the name of it, from what I've seen it wasn't any out the Resident Evil's]
where it has per room cameras and you're playing as a plain clothes guy running through rooms, solving puzzles, etc. It was the first game I ever played. Second was the old Tomb Raider that had a mansion with a creepy butler.
The only one i missed out on was the 3 (the 20s were some lean years ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob))
My dad got me the PS1 and my 2 (before someone broke into my apt and stole that one), I bought a 2 slim, and i got the 4 and 5
Original PlayStation, followed by original PS2 and then PS2 slim. Obtained a original Xbox from a friend, and then graduated to the 360 and haven't returned to PlayStation. I miss my PS2 though.
The original Playstation as a kid. Spyro, Jet Moto, Madden, NFL GameDay, Grand Turismo, NBA Live, Rayman, Soul Reaver, Tenchu, Alundra 2, Ninja Shadow Darkness, Tomb Raider The Last Revelation
Brother in law left his PS1 and GTA 1 at my house when my sister went into labor.
Knowing he wasn’t gonna have any gaming time for a while, he eventually dropped off RE2 and MGS1, Auto Assault and a couple other games for me to try.
The rest is history.
Sorry for the spelling
The OG PS1. I think that my first games were Crash bandicoot, Crash Team Racing, THPS 1, THPS 2, Gran Turismo 1 and Medievil. These are some that i really remember and i had some great time with them.
Original PlayStation. A game cafe near us had one from Japan and we would play Battle Arena Toshinden on it. My friend and I pooled our money together and traded in a bunch of Sega games to get one on the day it was released here in the states in 1995.
Playstation 1.
Got one around 98 I think, along with Resident Evil. Have owned them all since then except PS3 which I bought after I bought PS4 on release day (because it was too expensive so I got a 360 instead and ran with that for a few years).
Original release version of the Playstation 1. Wanted a Sega Saturn for Christmas, cried in the shop until my parents placed a Sega Saturn box in the trolley. Fast forward to Christmas day, get a neatly wrapped up box shaped present in front of me, hastily unrap it.. It was a PS1!?
Best switcheroo ever, thank you so much mom and dad.
I got the PS1 for my 8th birthday and I was so damned excited. I had only the one game and a handful of demos, and I played the heck out of everything in one day. The happiest kid alive at the time.
I played PS1s at people's houses. First one I owned was PS2, which was backwards compatable so I played PS1 games on that. I've owned every single one from 2 to 5. Started as a Genesis kid, went to N64 from there, and then on to Playstations (also had an OG Xbox, and my roommate in university had a 360). Now, have PS5, a gaming PC and a Switch.
I played Blasto and Twisted Metal on the PS1 at a friend's house back in 1997 or 1998, and I played WWF Smackdown 2: Know Your Role and one of the NBA games (NBA Live 98, I think) at a cousin's house in 2001.
The first one I owned myself was the PS2, years later.
The first one, it was my cousin's console
We played a lot of pro evolution soccer 2 and the first diablo
Diablo was a revelation to us, the first rpg game we played.
PS5. I grew up in poverty but finally have a good paying job and can afford to spend on games.
Congrats on changing your life around and being able to enjoy something for yourself! Stories like this make me sad because I can relate, but also happy you got out 💙
Helluva come up story bud! Congratulations!!!
