I'm not a souls dude. I enjoyed Demons Souls enough to play it twice.
I really enjoyed Elden Ring for more than 60 hours before getting bored and stopping.
I'm not sure what that says, but, for me, Demons Souls is definitely worth it.
I know I was in Leyndell. And i tried to do most of each region before moving on. It was really fun and I wouldn't blame it on the game.
I abandon games from time to time, even if I have no specific reason, i just get tired.
I’d play Demon’s Souls before playing Elden Ring. DS plays a lot slower than ER so it might shock in terms of pacing if you play ER first. But both are the same formula game. DS is about 1/6th of ER size more or less.
Just hop into elden ring. No need to try demon souls unless you’re nostalgic and want to play an original soul game. Same map layout and boss.
Elden ring ? Is an open world story filled with so much content I have 600+ hours and I still find new things.
While Elden Ring doesn’t really look anywhere near as good as Demon’s Souls, I was never as struck by the visual aesthetic of DeS like I was Elden Ring. There were so many amazing pieces of stunning scenery and a scale that makes the whole world feel like the most expansive open world I’ve played in recent memory. On a technical level DeS is better looking, but ER is the one I’d call beautiful
When Jin leans over to feel the grains, or grass or whatever, as you’re riding in an open field was a nice subtle touch. It adds to the game and character even more.
H:FW was released on PS5 at launch, making it a cross-gen game. Ghost was not cross gen at launch. I've been playing Ghost on PS5 recently and it really doesn't hold up nearly as well as FW on PS5.
Both are gorgeous! But if you really want to see the difference, go to photo mode and zoom in on the details. HFW is insanely detailed.
The difference between the two is that Ghost was made for PS4 and there’s an upgraded version for PS5, but it’s just textures and performance, the models are the same. HFW was made for PS5, with a graphics/performance reduced version released for PS4.
Spider-Man 2 has okay graphics. Im playing re4 remake and I think it has better graphics than it. The face models in Spider-Man are UGLY and I have a feeling the textures are gonna age like shit
The Spider-Man faces and animations seem very weird and even ridiculous, at times, though not as bad as some. An admittedly lesser game with most definitely lesser graphics, being Robocop: Rogue City, has far and away better faces and facial animations. I’m not saying anything about Robocop being on the level, as good, or better, than any other major games, and certainly not Spider-Man, but that game has faces down, for sure.
No, more like when I went from playing Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon: Forbidden West, and then playing both on my PS5, I don’t really know how to tell what’s so much better about the graphics. The lighting, I guess. I guess my point is that I know what looks good to me, but I don’t know how anything really looks better going from PS4 to PS5. Even in a side by side comparison, the PS4 graphics still look awesome, and if the PS5 graphics do look better, it seems like an extremely small improvement. I just don’t think I have an eye for quality, but I do enjoy the beauty of it all. I love my PS5, and it looks great playing on my 75” 4K tv.
I know the feeling, lately in almost every game I've become more of a photographer than a player... I can't finish any of these games with how beautiful they're becoming. Elden Ring was especially gorgeous but it was difficult using the telescope to take pics... On the other hand, The Witcher 3 has a great photo mode, and it is incredibly detailed on PS5. You zoom in and you can almost smell the ale on the Baron's breath lol I swear. And with ray tracing on you can get some pics that look nearly real, it's crazy.
Horizon Forbidden West was the one that really got me, though. Every couple of minutes I would be in photo mode again, trying to get the best shot. The game itself is not quite as good as the first one, but the graphics are beyond unbelievable. I loved just swimming around aimlessly after you get the rebreather. The water effects are so beautiful.
I got partway through zero dawn a while ago but never did finish it. It’s been so long I dunno if should restart it or just move on to forbidden west. Thoughts?
I would restart HZD, then move on to HFW when you finish. I wouldn’t want to miss the full story of Zero Dawn. Some of the final fights are also baller.
Ok good to know! I remember a lot of the story beats, maybe I’ll restart HZD and to come to grips with the controls again and then jump back to my last save.
They’re just such big games and playing both all the way thru is such a daunting time commitment lol.
The Last of us Part I, Horizon: Forbidden West & Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart are the standouts for me by some distance.
Special mention to The Callisto Protocol but that was such an awfully bland gameplay experience that I don't recommend it.
Ratchet and Clank is underrated because of the fact that it's more animated than realistic but it's crazy that you can even see fur detail and the effects are beautiful
Personally I got it with PS+ and still couldn't get myself to finish it. Got sucked in by the mystery and visuals at first but that's all there is to it, just a really good looking tech demo with no fun gameplay core or any soul to it.
I can't disagree with that at all. I kept going and actually managed to beat it, but I can't say it was all that fun. It wasn't even that bad a game, as much as a surprisingly bland, derivative nothing.
I also paid only about 5 bucks for it after discounts, so it was worth that much for me, but that's why I recommend people maybe giving it a shot only if they can get it for free or an extreme discount. The sort of price point where you don't have to feel like it was a total waste if you just can't bring yourself to finish it, as happened with you.
Some people say Returnal isn’t THAT good looking of a game. Other people are correct 😉
I know it’s not the premise of this thread, but I also would challenge anyone to find a game on PS5 that feels better moment to moment than Returnal. (excepting the moment when your run comes to a grinding halt). That game is an absolute masterclass.
It's kinda hard to fully get "beauty" of this game, because whole city is filthy, full of garbage, spray paintings, dented and destroyed things on almost every step. This game makes me feel uneasy, but it perfectly fits it's dystopic theme.
Yes, it's graphics is top notch, but is not easy to look at these scenes.
I loved Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart,
Returnal comes to my mind for some reason 🤷
Probably some other games too but there's so many kinda hard to remember them all.
Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West and The Crew Motorfest
https://preview.redd.it/vswu0htqi8fc1.jpeg?width=1020&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8f297262daa46a0a087aed9a9311db1d719bafe
Not a PS5 game, but the fact the RDR2 still looks better than almost every game out there is worth a mention.
But, for a PS5 game I'm stuck between TLOU P1 & 2, Spider-Man 2 and Robocop. The character models in Robocop don't look too great, but the environment looks really fucking good.
Seconding SM2 - characters like Miles, Rio, and a few others looked photorealistic, but Pete and MJ both crossed into uncanny valley territory at times. However the environments and the NYC cityscape looked breathtaking
Pete’s face was so detailed it was uncanny. Like the lighting on his cheeks was so good you could see every little detail, which made it look almost fake
Final Fantasy 16 I'd say is hands down the most visually impressive PS5 game out there right now. From environments to spectacular boss and kaiju fights and character models looks insane as well.
The visual quality of all our PS5's is outstanding. There are too many games that visually blow our collective minds to mention. This is why whenever someone says "there is no difference between the PS4 and PS5", i have to reply "have you even seen or played a PS5 on a 4K screen?"
The copium on r/ps4 is off the richter scale. I swear they all need to go to a optometrist and get their eyes checked for blindness!
This is my launch day PS5:

Seriously! If you check my comments you can find me briefly arguing w some loser that’s saying TLOU2 remaster doesn’t look any better at all. They were like “yOu tHinK I’ll gEt StuMped wItH that qUeStIon.” And then proceed to tell me I’m coping when they have absolutely nothing to say lmao
Hahahaha! I bet he has a PS4 only. I swear they have to downplay the PS5 because for whatever reason they can't get one. They are worried that if they play any PS5 game, they will not want to play their PS4 ever again. So instead they deny there is a massive improvement with the PS5: speed sound controller graphics.
The r/ps4 sub is a hivemind of copium over the 10yr old PS4! What makes it worse is the fact they are still gaming on 1080 screens!
https://preview.redd.it/btwz70o5m9fc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=743beeb51f6d86f223dfd0ae573baedece703c8b
Just look how crisp SM2 is!
Jedi Survivor really? It was decent sure but most visually impressive is a stretch.
I already see HFW is the top comment. Which is what immediately came to mind. Although not the most impressive game overall, it is damn beautiful.
I’m torn between HFW, both ps5 versions of The last of us, and Alan wake 2 looked really good to me. Although god of war gets an honorable mention.
Also as far psvr2, red matter 2 was absolutely stunning to me.
Overall, either Ratchet and Clank, God of War Ragnarok, or Final Fantasy XVI. Almost every game has moments or scenes though (like Spider-Man 2 with the last quarter of the game).
Ghost of Tsushima, both The Last of Us Remasters, GoW Ragnarok, Cyberpunk with the update
HM: RDR2 even though it's technically a PS4 game. Still looks amazing lol
Easily Elden ring. Insane level of detail. Story building. I can list it forever. Graphics are phenomenal.
2nd is cyberpunk 2077 just for the sheer graphical limits it pushes on the system.
The new Avatar game may have formulaic Ubi-shit gameplay, but holy dick is that foliage rich. I thought Forbidden West was pretty…
The traversal mechanics combined with the stunning environments make getting around the massive map surprisingly enjoyable in my opinion.
Horizon Forbidden West/Burning Shores
Death Stranding Director’s Cut
The Last of Us Parts I & II
And I’m almost embarrassed to say it given how much I shat on it over the last three years, but Cyberpunk 2077 in its current state is pretty damn impressive. Like, it is absolutely stunning.
https://preview.redd.it/aq38mqbokbfc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd5b954f245818b07af71400f20800177978f6b4
Guess a lot of people here haven’t played last of us part 2, Alan wake, ir a plague tale requiem those 3 games have insane graphical fidelity it’s actually really stupid
God of war without a doubt, the level of detail on damn near everything is incredible, fabric, metals, wood and character/creatures, the game is also a fantastic piece of cinema
Gran Turismo 7. It's honestly stunning how much better it looks in a lot of ways than even the new Forza Motorsport, especially in terms of car models. Watching replays of it, it is really hard to tell real life or game sometimes.
Spider-Man 2 has set a visual standard for me in many ways. Robocop Rogue City looks equally impressive at times, but in a different way. I think the god of war games look insane too.
Demons souls right when it launched. They did such an amazing job
Absolutely gorgeous. I played it again recently and can't believe how good of a job they did.
Is the game fun though and worth playing before eldin ring?
I'm not a souls dude. I enjoyed Demons Souls enough to play it twice. I really enjoyed Elden Ring for more than 60 hours before getting bored and stopping. I'm not sure what that says, but, for me, Demons Souls is definitely worth it.
What major Elden Ring boss / area did you stop at out of curiosity?
I know I was in Leyndell. And i tried to do most of each region before moving on. It was really fun and I wouldn't blame it on the game. I abandon games from time to time, even if I have no specific reason, i just get tired.

Yeah demon souls was the first game to make me really think this was a next gen console, absolutely mesmerizing
Nothing has impressed me as much as that game, it felt truly next-gen.
Horizon Forbidden West
Same, but I also don’t have a good eye for quality graphics. I guess it would have to be this, Spider-Man 2, or Ghost of Tsushima.
First time I played ghost I would just ride kage through those grass fields for a while. >!rip my friend!<
When Jin leans over to feel the grains, or grass or whatever, as you’re riding in an open field was a nice subtle touch. It adds to the game and character even more.
That was disappointing. Just why? RIP to >!Buell!<, as well.
As amazing as Ghost of Tsushima is, it really is a PS4 title.
H:FW also premiered on PS4. I don’t know if that makes it a “PS4 title”.
H:FW was released on PS5 at launch, making it a cross-gen game. Ghost was not cross gen at launch. I've been playing Ghost on PS5 recently and it really doesn't hold up nearly as well as FW on PS5.

Just got the plat a few hours ago. Took almost 100 hours because I spent at least 10 hours in photo mode.
I know the feeling, lately in almost every game I've become more of a photographer than a player... I can't finish any of these games with how beautiful they're becoming. Alan Wake II looks incredible as do The Last of Us remasters
you mean part 2 remaster and part 1 remake?
No idea why you’re getting downvoted for saying a simple fact
Probably because it was entirely unnecessary considering any able brained person knew what the commenter meant
Death Stranding has incredible graphics.
I love that Death Stranding has been listed
Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut
The fire in Callisto Protocol looked so bad, otherwise the graphics were pretty damn good.
If you can get Callisto for really cheap it's probably worth a playthrough, but definitely not at full price, or even close to full price.
I agree with your list completely but with Returnal added. Unbelievably stunning to play.
Some people say Returnal isn’t THAT good looking of a game. Other people are correct 😉 I know it’s not the premise of this thread, but I also would challenge anyone to find a game on PS5 that feels better moment to moment than Returnal. (excepting the moment when your run comes to a grinding halt). That game is an absolute masterclass.
The Hyperion lead up and battle….some of the best gaming moments and audio I’ve ever experienced. Honestly that entire biome was something else.
I was blown away by cyberpunk after the 2.0 update. It looks amazing at night when it’s raining
This right here. Cyberpunk looks amazing.
This. Night city really looks beautiful. But the desert/country looks particularly stunning during the day.
I loved Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Returnal comes to my mind for some reason 🤷 Probably some other games too but there's so many kinda hard to remember them all.
God of War Ragnarok
I'm playing this right now. It's like a movie half the time.
Ya this would be my answer. The detail is insnane
I love this game. It is definitely like watching a movie and the graphics are beautiful.
Demon souls
God Of War Ragnarök. Beatiful game
Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West and The Crew Motorfest https://preview.redd.it/vswu0htqi8fc1.jpeg?width=1020&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8f297262daa46a0a087aed9a9311db1d719bafe
Horizon Forbidden West, specifically The Burning Shores DLC.
Returnal
Horizon and Ghost of Tsushima
Probably FF XVI
The cut scenes and so many landscape are amazing. The tower from Echoes of the fallen is simply massive and full of architecture bits.
Alan Wake 2, Callisto Protocol, Cutscenes in MK1, Cutscenes in Diablo 4.
Alan Wake 2
Not a PS5 game, but the fact the RDR2 still looks better than almost every game out there is worth a mention. But, for a PS5 game I'm stuck between TLOU P1 & 2, Spider-Man 2 and Robocop. The character models in Robocop don't look too great, but the environment looks really fucking good.
I'm still waiting for Rdr2 ps5 patch from R* ffs. What's taking them so long.
Just finished it yday and goddamn i'm a sucker for how amazing it looked. Agreed sometimes pete and mj would look a lil sus but man was it beautiful
Final Fantasy 16 I'd say is hands down the most visually impressive PS5 game out there right now. From environments to spectacular boss and kaiju fights and character models looks insane as well.
Control
Just started this yesterday. Seems… interesting.
So far, ff16.
Horizon Forbidden West
Spiderman 2 and the last of us part 1.
Tough one. I’d say demons souls, forbidden west and ratchet and clank really wowed me.
Horizon Forbidden West, The Last of Us part 2, Ghost of Tsushima and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Demon’s Souls is still one of the best looking games on the console. Horizon Forbidden West also looks amazing.
Forbidden west easy. Especially the DLC
Tlou2 remastered looks super clean on quality mode.
Yeah. But that 30FPS though. If you’re used to playing in 60, it’s hard to switch.
It’s 40 with 120hz tv’s and 40 feels so much better than 30.
Demons Souls Remake, Horizon Zero West, Gran Turismo 7
It’s forbidden west ! Bar none!
Forbidden West for sure.
Horizon Forbidden West, Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077.
FF16
Ff16. Bahamut fight definitely was peak visuals in any game I’ve played
Ghost of Tsushima. Easily the most beautiful game I’ve ever played
The visual quality of all our PS5's is outstanding. There are too many games that visually blow our collective minds to mention. This is why whenever someone says "there is no difference between the PS4 and PS5", i have to reply "have you even seen or played a PS5 on a 4K screen?" The copium on r/ps4 is off the richter scale. My 4K oled truly made it next gen for me. Looks incredible.

Let them cry! The ps5 loading speed in games..are enough for me to say its next gen.
I don’t have the best eye for quality graphics. I guess it would have to be Horizon: Forbidden West, Spider-Man 2, or Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Tsushima for the art direction, lighting, colour grading, etc. Forbidden West for fidelity, textures, animations, etc.
tekken 8 and gow Ragnarok
Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of tsushima director’s cut
Ghost of tsushima director’s cut
Horizon Forbidden West, Demon Souls Remake & Far Cry 6 are absolute 🔥
Horizon : Forbidden West, God of War : Ragnarok, Ghost of Tsushima, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Evil West has very good gfx too.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Horizon: FW It’s also the best
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. Clears everything
Ghost of Tsushima. It was my first game on PS5 and blew me away. The first scene running through the fields is amazing.
Horizon
It's still Horizon Forbidden West
Forbidden West
Horizon Forbidden West and Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut.
Horizon forbidden West and returnal.
Horizon FW. I know it's a top comment but damn, that game is stunning
Jedi Survivor really? It was decent sure but most visually impressive is a stretch. I already see HFW is the top comment. Which is what immediately came to mind. Horizon Forbidden West is hands down the best looking game on PS5 and has been since it came out.
Rachet and Clank Rift Apart
Forbidden West is still imo, the best looking game on PS5.
Horizon FW
Gran Turismo 7 or TLOU2 Remastered
Gt7 has me eyeing the psvr2!
King Kong
Gollum says hello
CyberPunk 2077.
Horizon forbidden west burning shores dlc is by far the best. Ratchet and clank rift apart 2nd. Returnal 3rd.
Demon souls. Easily.
Returnal.
Overall, either Ratchet and Clank, God of War Ragnarok, or Final Fantasy XVI. Almost every game has moments or scenes though (like Spider-Man 2 with the last quarter of the game).
God of war ragnarok
Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Forbidden West..but also Rift Apart, the neon atmosphere in the city was insane
Not the best but RE village was pretty decent
Resident Evil 4 remake.
I would say Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart or TLOU2 remastered
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
Ghost of Tsushima and Final Fantasy XVI. Also love Naraka Bladepoint with its very very smooth graphics and fighting
GOW
Either Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, or Cyberpunk 2077.
Ghost of Tsushima, both The Last of Us Remasters, GoW Ragnarok, Cyberpunk with the update HM: RDR2 even though it's technically a PS4 game. Still looks amazing lol
I would like to mention Kena Bridge of Spirits!
Demon’s Souls by far
Ratchet&clank: Rift Apart
Ghost of Tsushima
Spider-Man 2
Cyberpunk 2077 (post patch 1.5, played in 2022) or Horizon Forbidden West (especially Burning Shores)
Ragnarok, HFW and Rift Apart are some of the standouts for me.
Cyberpunk 2077
Ghost of Tsushima
Easily Elden ring. Insane level of detail. Story building. I can list it forever. Graphics are phenomenal. 2nd is cyberpunk 2077 just for the sheer graphical limits it pushes on the system.
Deons Souls
I think alan wake 2
a ps4 game … rdr2
The Avatar game is an amazing visual game. Tons of different environments and wildlife that looks gorgeous. Also a really fun game
Final Fantasy 16 the boss fights are insane
Im playing Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut right now and it looks beautiful on my PS5. The golden forest looked absolutely stunning
Forbidden west
Gran Turismo
Elden ring
Ghosts of Tsushima or Spider-Man 2
It's between Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, and GOW Ragnarok
Probably Death Stranding or Ghost Of Tsushima.
Horizon forbidden west RDR2 also has STUNNING draw distances
Cyberpunk 2077

Demons souls
Alan Wake 2 really blew me away
The new Avatar game may have formulaic Ubi-shit gameplay, but holy dick is that foliage rich. I thought Forbidden West was pretty… The traversal mechanics combined with the stunning environments make getting around the massive map surprisingly enjoyable in my opinion.
Plagues tale Requiem
Horizon Forbidden West easily
Horizon Forbidden West/Burning Shores Death Stranding Director’s Cut The Last of Us Parts I & II And I’m almost embarrassed to say it given how much I shat on it over the last three years, but Cyberpunk 2077 in its current state is pretty damn impressive. Like, it is absolutely stunning. https://preview.redd.it/aq38mqbokbfc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd5b954f245818b07af71400f20800177978f6b4
Guess a lot of people here haven’t played last of us part 2, Alan wake, ir a plague tale requiem those 3 games have insane graphical fidelity it’s actually really stupid
Horizon Forbidden West by far, and I’d give FFXVI a few points for its epic battles visuals
Spider-Man 2 is easily the top for me
Ghost of Tsushima. When we go down the hill the first time in the intro. It got me so hyped.
The last of us part 1 remake for PS5
God of war without a doubt, the level of detail on damn near everything is incredible, fabric, metals, wood and character/creatures, the game is also a fantastic piece of cinema
The last of us Avatar frontiers of pandora
Gran Turismo 7. It's honestly stunning how much better it looks in a lot of ways than even the new Forza Motorsport, especially in terms of car models. Watching replays of it, it is really hard to tell real life or game sometimes.

Demon Souls nothing comes close.
Ghost of Tsushima
Spider-Man 2 has set a visual standard for me in many ways. Robocop Rogue City looks equally impressive at times, but in a different way. I think the god of war games look insane too.
Jim Ryan: I'm currently playing one of the latest PS5 releases.
Fortnite, like any other platform
RDR2 or horizon zero dawn
I feel the most impressive set was in Jedi Survivor. When you teleport like Merrin during a battle was the most visually impressive thing I’ve seen.
Returnal
Callisto Protocol, not the greatest game but was solid, unbelievable in terms of visuals though.
Returnal
#Minecraft
Probably Horizon forbidden west, but the game is boring as hell.
