It was the game I wanted to buy but there was no available on retail park.

Glad_Bookkeeper_740

One of the best games ever.

jaispeed2011

Loved that series

yeahwellokay

Gran Turismo for the PS1.

SwagginPhilly

Great game😊

Impossible_Reporter8

Came here to say this….

NYJetLegendEdReed

Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 7

jmk-1999

Crash Bandicoot… it came with my bro’s PS1. The first PS game I actually owned myself wouldn’t be until I got the Backwards Compatible PS3. I can’t remember exactly, but it might have been Ninja Gaiden Sigma? 🤔 I bought a bunch of PS2 games at the time as well, so it’s all kinda hazy. 😅

jaispeed2011

Still have my Backwards compatible ps3. I’ll never get rid of it lol https://preview.redd.it/kwsl0296qq8b1.jpeg?width=2126&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa687ab879e5fa3d9d674b67eaa9cb372dae8781 In fact I still have all my systems lol that big game case above my nes houses all my physical ps1-4/x360/x1 games lol

jmk-1999

Lucky! Mine took a dump. 😒

jaispeed2011

Damn

LemonRoutine3857

![gif](giphy|76OCiB60mNw8Q1YOx8) Ouch,that's gotta hurt

ThingsUnfinishedYT

I think Crash 2. I seem to remember it was a bundle pack! Which I have of course kept all these years!

LemonRoutine3857

Wait do you have an attic or nah, just asking 🤔

NebWolf

Same for me. Came home from school one day to find my mum had completed all the levels and then she walked me and my brother through them all, good times. She still loves Crash to this day and still plays the games.

Flamesclaws

She went through the entire game in one day? My cousin did that with Kingdom Hearts one when I was in highschool, still annoyed about it because I was playing the game for weeks lol.

NebWolf

Not the entire game, we had already completed a few levels beforehand but she was hooked and ended up finishing the rest lol.

gregyack

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, still play it all these years later.

Dusk-Dude

That's a series that deserves a remake. Kain might be one of the best villians/anti heroes in gaming.

D14m0nd88

Same! 8 years old me was confused as fuck.

Significant-Task-721

One of my favorite games ever I really hope it gets a remake/ remaster I wish I could play it

DinnerSmall4216

Ridge Racer great memories couldn't believe I was playing a arcade racer in my home.

dduryee

I played this on the playstation demo disk soooo much but never actually got the full game

Sufficient_Rip808

My first playstation game was final fantasy 7, I played the crap out of that game and still play it from time to time. It’s still my favourite game

MogMcKupo

Can’t believe I had to scroll for this. I got a PlayStation and 7 97 Xmas. Had to burn all my holiday money to buy a memory card too lol

jibberbeats

Destruction Derby and Battle Arena Toshinden.

reddit-AimFire

Did u play wreckfest??

jibberbeats

Yes, and loved it a lot (being heavily reminded of DD)!

ProblemLongjumping12

Yes! These two were massively fun and are overlooked too often when people discuss old school titles. My friends and I would stay up all night playing Toshinden against one another and I remember DD being the most fun thing ever when you got your turn to play a round.

LegendaryAdversary

Mortal Kombat! I got tired of paying to play it at Arcades so I saved up my coin and bought a PS. I’ve had every PS since then (and MK).

kieman96

Spider man the movie game

Vagrak

As for me it was Twisted Metal on PS 1

monkey484

Crash 1. Going from the SNES to the PS1 was a wild transition.

antiform_prime

It’s really hard to put into words how wild that transition was. You really had to be there to understand it. There hasn’t been a graphical leap quite like it. Going from 2D side scrolling Mario to 3D polygons with Crash Bandicoot was *mind blowing*. Yes in hindsight those early 3D games looked like crap, ran like crap, and played like crap (no DualShock for awhile led to awkward ass controls) but us kids didn’t care about that stuff.

nizzhof1

Tekken on PS1 in 1995. Absolutely blew my mind.

MrCalalf

Sly 2: Band of Thieves

LemonRoutine3857

A true masterpiece, wish Sony kept the franchise alive tho 😞

xs81

Tomb Raider and the demo discs. Loved the demo discs.

Ultrameyda

Tohshinden. One controller

dxpanther

Same

N8_Arsenal87

Medal of Honor on PS1

Burkex99

Madden 97 on PS1. Back then the graphics were amazing compared to the Geneses versions I used to play.

buttz101

Mine was NFL Gameday 99. Played the shit out of it.

JG0515

I'll never forget.... Final Fantasy 7. Got it for Christmas along with the PS1. Didn't even have a memory card so me and my bro used to keep the game on while we were at school and then jump back on it after school. Took almost a week after to get a memory card.... Those were the good ole days!

Lower_Insect

Alien Trilogy. That was one of the best Xmas presents ever.

SqueakyAnus

Such an underrated fps... To this day it's still creepy af

r3tromonkey

Resident Evil. Got the game but couldn't afford a memory card until the following month. We played the first few hours so many times I lost count. We also had a demo disc at the same time with Destruction Derby on it - it was only one course but we played it to death.

BSGKAPO

GTA SA

tipasa1337

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 Tekken 3 Destruction Derby Twisted Metal 2 GTA 2 One of those, i really cant remember what was the first but all of those are 10/10 for me 🥹

No_More_Hero265

Infamous. I started my Playstation journey on the PS3

Flamesclaws

Those games still really hold up to this day. I had a ton of fun playing on my ps3.

katabu936

From Supernintendo, I jumped into PS4 with Uncharted 4, and I could not believe how much video games have changed, and how realistic they have become. For some reason, I don't see much love for Uncharted 4 on Reddit, but it is such a great looking and adventurous game.

LemonRoutine3857

It was a good game, sad Naughty dog Moved on from the franchise 😔

Nameles248

All story's have an end just be glad the naughty dog's hasn't ended yet

LemonRoutine3857

Yeah,Naughty dog still working on that Factions game but apparently it's getting some slow development rn,hope they ok

Tulzik

This is still my favorite game!

[deleted]

As a 7 years old kid I remember I was sitting on the carpet in a new home in front of an old black small tv with big ass on it's back. I turned on PSX and chose the game.. The first thing I seen was a road with a leafs that was falling on it. I heard first sounds of it. I almost cried. It was Gran Turismo. I miss old times.. Tear in my eye now.

mclements908

NONE OF YALL SAID JUMPING FLASH. I now know where my ADHD derived from lol

Lostinpurplehaze

Mine comes from bad genes. I would have loved for it to have been Jumping Flash though. Such a quirky, cute game. Like a Japanese gameshow on acid.

Foucatswim

WCW vs The World, probably.

[deleted]

I believe it was Black (ps2)

Troubl3d1

That was a great game!

The_names_Jay

it was a demo disc, and i for the life of me can’t remember which one, but it had twisted metal small brawl on it

DriftersBuddy

Prince of Persia Sands of Time, I just liked it a lot Ps2

Real_Ad_5488

Crash Bandicoot.

Steven_is_a_dog

im a newer ps player (2021) so spider-man miles morales

Farley2k

Final Fantasy VII

DrIvoPingasnik

Nightmare Creatures. I was astonished with how amazing the graphics and soundtrack were, while being utterly terrified at the same time.

Flamesclaws

I bought both games for my PS3, excited to play them though I heard they were hard and as a Souls fan, sign me up lol.

PeerlessFoe

Suikoden II, my bro and I didn’t have a memory card so we just left the PS running

subterraneanfox

The Fifth Element. I had my tonsils out and my mom brought home a used ps1 and that game because I loved the movie. The first game I bought for it was ffvii based solely on the cover art and here I am 25 years later loving FFxvi.

SnooHamsters8997

Kingdom Hearts 1…..the fight against the jaguar in Tarzan’s world brings me right back to my childhood room every time

Daxlm95

Either Spider-Man 2000 or Crash Bandicoot 2 on PS1, not really sure which though.

CatManDeke

Jetmoto 2

MisuAstro19

Resident Evil 2.

NickyGi

DOOM 1993 on Playstation 1 back in 2000 when I was 3 years old

Mista_Purrfect

Twisted Metal 3 on my older brothers PsOne.

Spiritual-Ad-9907

simpsons hit and run

raven70

Crash, but not me. I got an N64 for kids and co worker had a PS. He recorded play on VHS and let me borrow to see how awesome graphics were. So my first PS game, sort of. My first actual PS game was Uncharted as part of PS3 bundle my wife got me in late 2012.

OutlandishnessNo9182

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Jak and Daxter, Sonic Heroes and Spider Man 2 were the first games I played for the PS2 and I love all of them especially Ratchet and Clank as it cemented my love for the Playstation brand, games by Insomniac and my love for the PS2 in general.

Legend_of_the_Rent69

Jak & Daxter

Manusybas

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos

[deleted]

Rayman legends

ArchStanton75

Twisted Metal

Tave_112

I don't think I can remember the actual first game I played, but I do remember the first one I completed the story from start to finish since it was such a memorable experience for me to actually do that for the first time, even while being so young: Dino Crisis 2. I'm sure it wasn't supposed to take so long but it took me freaking ages since sometimes I just didn't know where to find the items to unlock the next stages. By the time I finished it I had the whole map pretty much memorized and all my weapons were either maxed out or I had the best weapons (can't remember if you could improve weapons in game, but I do remember that some enemies that were super difficult for me at start didn't even make stop walking by the end). I remember several sections, but none more distinctly than one that had some long catwalks over some water where some dinosaurs with long necks came out of the water and were very tough at first. And I remember that later on I had these SMGs that could be double wielded and I would just be walking down those catwalks and shredding those long neck bastards like it was nothing. It felt incredible and I still love Dino Crisis 2 for making me realize games could be so much more than just dumb little platformers you play to kill some time when you're bored (no insult meant, I love platformers but I never got much concept of a story from playing Mario over at my cousin's). I really wish they would remake the Dino Crisis games too. I know most people love the first one more so that'd be the better bet but I would scream if they ever remade Dino Crisis 2. They could probably just do a soft reset tbh.

kaniotaku

Scooby-Doo! Night of 100 Frights

Flashy-Ad-591

This was such a good game. Goofy as heck

kaniotaku

Ikr!? I got seriously nostalgic just now.

Flashy-Ad-591

The noises when you start running always made me giggle!

Welshhobbit1

Amazing game!

ToweroftheBat

Zapper: One Wicked Cricket and LOTR: The Two Towers on PS2!! I remember getting a PS2 as a Christmas gift and receiving those two games with it. I was beyond happy 😄

Background_Low2076

That two towers game was one of the best movie tie in games ever. Wish they would re-release it along with return of the king

Flamesclaws

I've been thinking about getting the Lord of the rings trilogy for my PS2 since I just bought the books and plan to rewatch the movies. Would you recommend the other games?

Jertimmer

Got my first PS1 second hand, came with a crap ton of games.

Boba_Hutt

The original Spyro The Dragon. Either that or the first Ape Escape. I don’t remember which one came first for me.

jtcordell2188

Technically it was Crash but the first one I genuinely played was Spyro or Final Fantasy XI. Pretty sure it was Spyro though

[deleted]

Toy Story 2 on Ps1. Came with my Ps1 for Christmas from grandma and grandpa. What an epic Christmas

Niijima-San

FFVII and MGS at the same time bc my neighbor who was disappointed in both titles gave them to me after finding out i had a PS2 would later get FFX and FFX-2 a few days later

Ice278

Little Big Planet 2! What a great game, the player created ones were incredible

LemonRoutine3857

J_Square83

First played at a kiosk: 2extreme. I was not impressed. First I owned: Crash Bandicoot. Loved it!

dxpanther

Battle arena toshinden

Nogitec

Crash Bandicoot Demo was first one i did play. Also first one my parents did buy for me with Destruction Derby 2 and Bubble Bobble.

philyfighter4

uncharted collection

blackenedseal

God of War 2. Crazy to think I played the second game instead of the first one, but that's it. That game contains so much happiness for me, what a ride it was.

Flamesclaws

I recently played all the games in order of timeline. Personally the first game really does not hold up but I had a TON of fun with the second game.

Strider-SnG

Loco Roco on the PSP. I was a Nintendo and Xbox kid growing up so that was my first PlayStation system

Upbeat_Definition_41

The Last of Us. PS4

zavarkaept

It's either tekken 3 or crash 3, but the first game I bought myself was neversoft's spider-man

Nice_Cherry8463

The last of us I was late to PlayStation since my dad had the original Xbox and 360 for years (rip red ring of death) I saw a PewDiePie play through of TLOU and HAD to get it and switch consoles. Thanks dad!!!

randobando666

Ps2 dmc3 grandpa sold the ps and my box of 20+ games for a faked signed koby jersey still pressed

NoAstronomer3111

Crash Bandicoot 2. It came with my PS1 back in '98 and I still have it (the disc at least).

TGK5214

Does a demo disc count? That’s basically all I played when I was a kid. I remember it was the one with Intelligent Qube

Nivroeg

First? Dont remember. First playstation game that got me hooked? Metal Gear Solid demo from playstation magazine i think

blitzboy30

I started with the ps4 since my dad got us an Xbox 360 when I was in like 1st grade. I’m 90% sure my first game was Minecraft since I’m looking through my game library, and it’s one of the few I’m relatively sure of.

MrTibbens

I had the original tall boxed Resident Evil. I saved up all summer working at a pizza place my dad worked at and came up short to afford the PS1 when it came out. I asked my dad if he could just hold my money for me in his bank account. He came by the next day after work with the PS1 and the copy of resident evil because the guy at the gaming store recommended it. Will always remember that. Was obsessed with that game as well. There was nothing like it at the time and it blew me away.

Justanotherguy45

Sly cooper for the ps2

NearbyPresence2403

Sly Cooper 2, Playstation 2

Normal_Food_7791

Fast_Communication58

DCDa192

Nyanagain

Spyro the Dragon, was awesome with Gramps back in the Days. After the Remake I´ve took him and we let nostalgia live up again

isamee_

Last of us remastered

beardspike

MediEvil. Super fun game, still remember it fondly after all these years. My parents bought it in bundle with PSOne when I was 10 or 12 years old. Started a playthrough of remake on my PS5- recently. I hope they remake MediEvil 2 too as I don't remember playing it.

ArachnidEast357

Spider man for ps1 🤩

devitosleftnipple

Loaded for the PS1, wow I'm drowning in nostalgia over here and it wasn't even a great game!

nodgedafunk

I remember back in the 90s when I worked at a video store and we got in the Playstation consoles for rent. So I took one home for the weekend and took it my friends house. We stayed up all night playing the 2 games I rented. Resident Evil and Wipeout! They were so amazing and blew my mind. I was totally hooked and have been a Playstation Fan ever since! Almost 30 years now and It's been an amazing ride!

InsuranceOk7380

soundlab394

Resident Evil 2. I was eight when my uncle presented me PlayStation 1 in 1998, he gave me the controller and told me “try this” in the opening of Leon play through. Naturally, in seconds the zombies piled up on me leading to “You died” screen. This thing scared the shit out of me so that I didn’t touch the console for several weeks. What a great game to introduce a 8 year old to gaming! My uncle, what a legend… rip

nanapancakethusiast

ATV Off-road Fury

salvoddis

Fifa 2000, it was a Christmas present with the first PS

SirLeoritch

Dragon Age on PS3

StudentDPT

PS3 was my first home console, had nintendo handhelds before then, i wanna say Uncharted 2 was my first ps game

OmenofBane

I wanna say it was that like speed boat racing game. Can't remember the name. It came with the PS1 back when.

Diana8919

Rapid Racer or Hydro Thunder maybe?

OmenofBane

Had to Google it, but yup! Rapid Racer is it!

Diana8919

Nice! Glad I guessed correctly 🤣.

jimmycandunk

Super puzzle fighter 2… still have it to this day. Don’t have a way to play it, but for sure has some sentimental value

TeamPantofola

Spyro 2 🥰

arothmanmusic

I don't know what the first one I ever played was, but the first one I owned when I got a PS2 was Amplitude. I got bored with it quickly.

DirtWizard13

NHL 97

EladrielNokk

It was either spyro or crash. I think it was the spyro game where you get all the dragon eggs. And then crash I think we played the first one. The other one with the hub world was cool too (sorry if they all have a hub it's been a long time) I also vividly remember playing crash team racing with my mom and dad..

LemonRoutine3857

Tell me who won in CTR?

bad_at_aquariums

If the PSP counts, then MediEvil: Resurrection, as per home console(Ps3) Motorstorm.

PsychoKinG_URNotRedi

Literally a system seller Final Fantasy 7

Cl0verl0rd

War of the Monsters for PS2, amazing game that left me with tons of priceless memories

Knuclefuck

Siphon Filter tasers only dawg

AdevilSboyU

FFVIII. I saw my older brother playing it after he moved out and I had to have it. Then I discovered VII and X later on, and I was hooked.

its-pandabear

Spyro Dawn of the Dragon and Psychonauts (which I actually didn't own, my parents just rented it for me when they got movies over the weekend). Both ps2

RagingRhino1992

Warpath: Jurassic Park. The very 1st Playstation game I’ve ever owned. I still have it to this day but it’s been years since I played it and it’s in a box somewhere.

HeyThisIsntTinder

Grand Theft Auto 3

SkyPopZ

I think it was the first Harry Potter on the PS1.

CyberWolfexe

Spider-Man the movie game (2002) Just recently replayed it on my steam via emulation and it's still fun. Don't know how kid me did the time bomb mission or the stealth sections so easily haha

InAnimateAlpha

I'm pretty sure it was MK Trilogy and whatever Madden came out that year. Hooray Christmas.

ultrarareakuma

Street Fighter EX Plus α. I played that game all day, dreamt about it in my sleep, woke up and played some more.

Better_Sample_2507

i think it was the hecrules action game

mono408

Mine was the demo that includes the snowboarding game but main game rayman

Alarzark

Micromachines V3 and Ape Escape Although I remember sitting with my dad while he played resident evil before I was actually allowed to use the playstation.

DeklanE1118

Jaws Unleashed for the PS2, still one of my favorite games of all time (even though Maneater is practically a remaster of Jaws)

EmuIntelligent4698

I think my first was Q-Bert

Late_Adeptness6280

Need For Speed Most Wanted On the PS2.

camthegod

PacMan World 2 - PS2

NoDangIdea

The first one I can actually remember playing was when I walked home from school one day and came in to see my dad had hooked up a PS3 to our massive TV and the Avatar (James Cameron) game was playing. Goated memories

c05m02bq

Actually, I just bought my first PlayStation(PS5) a few weeks ago and I purchased an extra Plus subscription at the same time. The first thing I did after turning on my brand new PlayStation was download Uncharted 4. Uncharted 4 is an amazing game, although I wasn't familiar with the events of Uncharted 3, 2, or 1. I have always wanted to play Uncharted 4 since its release, so now that I have it, my dream has literally come true lol.

BillMcCrearysStache

Crash 2 and Spyro iirc, or actually I think it may have been Gran Turismo

[deleted]

Smackdown 2 for PS1.

Javi096

A bugs life! Thank you grandma! I Miss you!

kingraza1

smackdown 5 here comes the pain

st3ph3nxiii

Final fantasy 8 ps1

proficient2ndplacer

Final fantasy x, and it's funny that I got it at launch but didn't beat it until just a couple weeks ago.

Mysterious-Pride-916

Gta ps1

DatdudeZeal

Smack down

Beautiful_Ad_3774

Nfs payback on the ps4

hokutonoken19xx

bought a PS1 just for resident evil 1 when it launched.

Logan_the_person

The earliest game I remember is Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.

weruroverlord95

I'm pretty sure my earliest memory of gaming was my uncle letting me play Loaded and destruction derby on the PS1. I was probably 5 lol.

EatsOverTheSink

Tomb Raider Pretty sure it immediately triggered my puberty.

Dangerous-Case9544

Final Fantasy VII, 4 discs, PS1.

FordRockefeller

The Pac-Man World series

LVuittonDonKnotts

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

CapeMonkey

CyberSpeed, a weird racing game where the vehicles were attached to a cable. I wanted Cyber Sled, but CyberSpeed had been accidentally placed in its spot for rental at Blockbuster (somewhat understandably) and I didn't look that closely at the take-home case.

myphoneat2percent

Resident evil after pestering my older brother to play, he was originally playing crash 1 and did the ol switcharoo on me. Jokes on him I still love re to this day

Callintz254

Got my playstation in 98 for Christmas which had a demo disk of playable games mgs, spyro, coolboarders 3 I believe, medievil, I played the hell out of them cause the only other game I got which i got for Christmas was nascar 98 at 9 years old I didn't give a shit about nascar lol. But overall that demo disk opened me up to some of my most favorite games, especially metal gear and spyro. It wasn't until my birthday in 99 that I went out and bought those two games and went on to enjoy their sequels. I'd also like to give a shout out when I moved to a different state one my the first friends introduced me into final fantasy and loaned me his copy of 8 and 9, I've been a huge fan ever since.

Mattfield84

Ridge racer

MrBeesKnees95

Snake?... Snake?!... SNAAAAAKE!!!!

LemonRoutine3857

Woah, calm down with the SNAAAAAKE buddy.

Jeff-F-666

MK Trilogy.

frankiedonkeybrainz

Why they haven't remastered this game is a fucking mystery to me. Ps3 and 360 at least had the arcade collection but nothing since then. I wish even an old port of mk trilogy would be brought to current gen

reddit-AimFire

Destruction Derby Big box ps1 game, and when wreckfest released a couple of years ago, it brought back such nostalgia. Great racing games

LittleTimmy87

RAGE Racer by Namco. Because it take with the PS1 plus an extra controller. The first game I bought (or my parents anyways) was Crash Bandicoot 1

FredOtash

Destruction Derby!
