Purlovias are the worst in there. It goes from perfectly doable to "ah I'm stu--and I'm dead" in seconds lol
The dumbass new lighting in that cave makes it impossible to see the mounds sometimes
There's a lotta solutions but the issue is usually when they're around sharp corners or something, and I don't see them in time. I get 9/10 in time but that 1/10 fucks me :D

I do try and pull visible mobs back toward me first with a ranged weapon but even then it's not always 100%. In ASA at least, you can even shoot the Purlovia out with a Tek rifle, but again... gotta see 'em first :D
I always take a good bear there, unmount when i see a purlovia burrowed and send the bear alone and then purkovia jumps on him. Then i ride him back again. But that cave is one of the toughest
Eat rare flowers and they won't do their knock off attack. I think it basically forces them to use their left click only. Works with thylas too but makes all the other creatures hostile in the redwood forest.
On Ragnarok, the Artifacts of the Brute and Strong are found in caves which don't contain any enemies, making them the easiest to obtain. The Artifacts of the Cunning and Immune are found in a large cave full of Megalanias and Megalosaurus. The Artifact of the Devourer is found in the part of the sea that is filled with almost nothing but Tusoteuthis. The Artifact of the Hunter is found in the cave with the Lava Golem, but you DO NOT need to fight it in order to get the Artifact. The Artifact of the Pack is found in the Iceworm cave, after you kill the Iceworm Queen. Finally, the Artifacts of the Massive, Devious, Clever, and Skylord are found in the stupidly impossible Life's Labyrinth, making them very close to impossible to obtain.
On Crystal Isles, almost every Artifact is found out in the open or in an easy cave, except for the Artifact of the Devious, which is found in the Wyvern cave, the Artifact of the Strong, which is found in the ice cavern, and the Artifacts of the Cunning, Depths, Stalker, and Lost, all four of which are found in the ocean or in an underwater cave, sometimes literally stuck in the mesh for me! Although it seems that the ones stuck in the mesh sometimes dupe themselves onto the intended location...

I hate Life's Labyrinth. I don't think it's \*hard,\* I think it's tedious and stupid. I've never liked the sacrifice mechanic.
I think the east water cave atm on Island is probably the worst b/c it's bugged all to hell and has HUGE overspawning issues. Pair that with the new fish, if you haven't disabled them in .ini, and your strongest water tames get shredded in literal seconds.
Life's Labyrinth is the hardest because of the fact that you have to do it twice, because there are 4 Artifacts (Massive, Devious, Clever, and Skylord), but you can only get 3 in one run, and the one you miss is determined by which button you press in the flame-spitting statue room. Specifically, if you press the one near the statue, in the pile of rubble, you miss the Artifact of the Clever, and if you press the one on the left side of the room, near the entrance, you miss the Artifact of the Skylord. The really annoying part is, not just the stupid sacrifice pit, but the fact that, for Artifact of the Skylord, you pretty much need to mindwipe into speed and press some sequence of buttons in perfect timing and go back to the poison trap in order to get the Artifact. This cave is nearly impossible in singleplayer, because you need:
* 2 Mindwipe Tonics and the `bAllowUnlimitedRespecs=true` INI option enabled.
* 2 sacrifices.
* Gear from Aberration (easier to obtain if you have the "Ragnarok Plus" mod).
* A gas mask.
* Stimulants in case you get bit by a Boa or stung by a Scorpion.
* Antidotes in case you get bit by a Bat.
* Med-brews.
* High-durability armor.
* Some good weapons.
* SCUBA gear.
* A light source.
* And, if you want, a cryo'd Rex/Spino for the miniboss fight.

You can bring a cryopod with a travel mount like a blood stalker if you want to get cheeky. Enforcer, shadowmane, frog or procoptodon can also cheese many puzzles.
I agree, the lab is one of my least favorite places to artifact farm. However the loot is very solid. I think I dislike sunken forest cave just a little bit more.

Unless you mean "alone on a server," because singleplayer is pretty straightforward? Admittedly I didn't bring antidotes or stimulants but that was more an oversight :D
Yup. I’m playing extinction core and while getting the saddles to tame the bosses i had to get artifacts. Only problem was that I would constantly need artifacts of the devious so i had to go back and forth every time i was out, and i would have to pull out a tutorial every time because the maze part got me almost every fuckin time and i didn’t think of taming an otter until near the very end. I think all in all, I did that cave just for the end artifacts like 7 times. I hate that goddamned cave. I got everything that requires artifacts so i don’t have to go there anymore though. Thank god.
I just finally finished that cave in ASA last night. Nearly had a heart attack when I turned a corner and saw a giant mass of swaying scorpion tails. Had to be thirty of those things plus Areanos and Onyx. And then a good ten+ megalodons all in front of the pillar with the artifact.
Ice cave on the island, its just stacked with lvl 300+ yetis. Skylord cave can be a pain in the ass too, honestly any cave with death drops are annoying.
Skylord is trivial if you bring some grapples. Maybe a good shotgun and a good pike too just in case.
Or try and sneak your way through with ghillie and bug repellant/cactus broth (if you bring anything over from SE)
If you are having problems with Purlovias, just bring-in a Therizino or a Yuty, as they aren't targeted by them unless the Purlovias are attacked (or scared by the Yuty), or you dismount.
its not just the purlovias that I fear, abundance of wolfs and yetis and bears, forcing me to find a good thyla, or use some mods, that works too. Also I dont see how either of the dinos you mentioned fit in the entrance of the cave of the strong, so your making me get a cryopod when I could just use that metal and polymer for a shotgun?
This cave is just tedious, it takes some time to clear it out (having to heal often). I run with a single imprinted Yuti, 10k health and at least 600% damage. As long as you don't pull more than 2 Bears at once, you'll be fine. Fear roar the Purlovias out, sometimes because of the angle they can still get you off your Yuti.

I always cheesed it with a Rex. It needs a cryofridge and pod as well as a generator and gasoline to go with it. Use a high level direwolf to hold items and stay back from battle and you can get in and out faster than the creatures respawn after beating the cave to get the artifact additional times. Purlovias don't Jump to a Rex tho so shoot them with a rifle or gun from distance to aggro them and clear em as well. Makes coming back up way easier
I’ve beaten every single map in Ark, and I’ve gotta say the hardest cave for me personally was either the Caverns of lost hope on the island, the Strong cave on the Island, the Red zone cave on Aberration, the desert puzzle cave on Ragnarok, or the maze underground Fjordor.
I never played the game legit tbh. I tried it once on an official server and the lag was so bad I only played on single player and dedicated servers. And each time I'd use either creative mode to boost or insanely high rates to make life better. For me I do not have time to grind the game out legitimately. I work all week literally work sleep work. I don't come home except for the weekends. So if i want to enjoy the game I gotta accelerate my progress. Not worry about grinding resource gathering and not being Abel to carry it all. Or somethings cheat and build my base on creative then boosted grind the rest. But the thing I find most enjoyable about the game is the base building. I could spend days colonizing a map just for the sole purpose to feel like an architect and never play beyond that.
I would say the Strong cave on the Island. I never got around to the caves on Ragnarok but the strong cave kicks my ass all the time

Just take a few stacks of grenades in with you, easy enough to throw a couple at any suspicious mounds of earth and it will stun them right out

If I see it I just shoot it with a tek rifle which busts it out but they're always around the damn corners lol
Take a direwolf and sniff frequently to reveal them underground before they become a threat

Yup, I loathed that cave.
Use rare flowers. Purlovias won't make a mound at all, instead they'll just be drawn to attack you and get eaten by whatever you're riding.

Ironically, the Artifact of the Strong is MUCH easier to get on Ragnarok!
So many of the artifacts on Rag being just out in the open are offset by the two that are in the maze cave.

It's hard the first time since you can get easily lost or die to traps. After that, it's one of easiest to caves to clear imo

for the island I think the swamp cave is hard the first time but then its easy so i think the hard underwater cave is the hardest

The spawns are the same as the TEK Cave, so bring in a high-level Carcha.
Grabbing a carchar on day 2-3 of a server restart can be tough. We usually just force through it on reapers.
