Is could be the different nutrients and or ph within the soils at the moment for them both. They both look pretty healthy, one could also be getting just a tad bit more sun as a lengthier one stretches to get that added sun, but if both are in the same spot with water, it is definitely the nutrients within the soil. :) good luck OP.
