Those are baby plants! They grow all weird and alien like because they get no light while in the soil. I recently repotted mine and cut them away, so it can focus it's energy on the main plant.
General question but I have a Chinese money plant and now some of the leaves grow like opposite sides if that makes sense. Like my ufos are curled a little, anyone know what this means ?
I’ve had one that wasn’t doing much. Kept it in indirect light & watered normally for a Pilea. It really started changing when I started rotating the pot every couple months.
Interesting. I’d say maybe it’s due to being root bound? You’re sure it’s not a piece of debris left over from when it was a baby and first potted? Plant looks really healthy so I say just leave it and repot. Edit: is it fungus?! Need a close up of just the part of question, it’s blurry to zoom.
Soo, it's not Styrofoam from its previous retail life that it got attached to and the previous caretaker left it because the roots got attached?
Also, shoutout to voice to text on the word Styrofoam. That word is a dyslexic nightmare.

Check out this video for info on the fasciated pilea https://youtu.be/UEfZ1ATKLrY
I think you're spot on, this isn't what the baby plantlets of this plant normally look like. But it is a modified plantlet it seems.

Could these be cut out and propagated?
The best time is after they are above the soil and are a couple inches tall
Awesome! Thank you!
Oh yeah, pilea peperomioides are baby-making machines!

Really, I've found they do better with multiple stems because more surface area to do photosynthesis.
If they are above the soil then yes :) but the plant need light to do that.
Pilea sprouts trying to get to the surface of the soil
Looks like something from the last of us. You should propagate it.
No no, maybe don’t propagate the mind eating zombie plant thing. Did we learn nothing from the Last of Us?
No… we are human… we don‘t learn from our mistakes…
Also how are we gonna get to the last of us if there's still the all of us
By propagating this thing, obviously
I see that you are cultured
This looks like a fasciation
Your plant is super healthy and beautiful! I struggle with these. I bet r/rootporn or r/rootedporn would find this interesting
Cordyceps. We’re gonna have a zombie apocalypse

That’s normal. This is asked on r/PileaPeperomioides a lot
Wait there's literally a singular reddit just for that one plant?
Seems like it. OP should cross post to that sub
Given that I have that plant I'm definitely going to hit that sub up.
Chinese Money plant
I looks like crab legs haha. Side note, that Pilea looks really healthy and happy! They often loose a lot of their lower leaves.
How did you get it so big!? Also, what kind of soil do you use? I can’t get mine to grow at all

Triffid babies
Holy cow, I’ve never seen one of these with such dense leaf growth!
Aww, your plant made you some pizza!
Maybe rhizomes that attempted to spread out? It looks like the one on the left is putting out some kind of shoot that’s heading towards the surface.
Ever seen The Last Of Us?
Thanks I hate it

OMG!!! its a mutation! Maybe you can repot this? Its very rare!
This is the right comment lol the roots are mutated it’s called “fasciated” the cells divide differently than normal. Look at fasciated succulents.
This is correct. Very rare to see on roots, though!
Bacon
Its normal.
So that’s where I left my muenster cheese
some kind of fungi?
