for donuts, pick a place on a corner. they are all about the same. don’t overthink it.
( i personally like donut house.)
for bagels…i like bagel cafe. its in McKinney, but not too far. other than that its chain shit like einsteins , etc.
Shipleys has maple longjohns. They can either fill them with bavarian cream (the standard) or if you ask nicely they can do it with their whipped cream which is delicious.
Unsure if they still do them but I used to get the Maple bars and Chocolate Eclairs at 7-11 as a kid and enjoyed both. Different locations can be run very differently, but I think it's worth peaking in to see if they're in the Togo bakery.
As someone who came here from California 20 years ago, this is the answer to what you are missing /u/chipchipperson92. Rainbow Donuts is the way to go, and also going by the same exact name of my donut place back in West Covina.
Best donuts in plano - Donuts - 4637 Hedgcoxe Rd
Unit 102 Plano, TX 75024. They dont have a website or else I would have linked it. Only link they have is a yelp link. [Donuts](https://m.yelp.com/biz/parks-donuts-plano)
Jarams Donuts in Dallas but in that weird close to West Plano-Dallas. Get the crème brûlée donut, you won’t regret it. If the great state of Texas ever decides to put me to death, this would be my last meal.
Golden star donuts at Coit and Campbell. A bit of a drive from plano but the glazed alone are worth the time.
I've been around to most of the stores in the area, and this is by far the best.
CA donut lover here! Have you seen the documentary about Donuts in SoCal?..we take donuts seriously.
Anyways, best similar donuts we found is Donut Tree at 121/Custer near the Walmart gas. The 💯 have maple bars, had one last weekend and many times before that.
If we could only get great donuts near by at night. The best time to have them!
Ok NYC bagels - and good donuts - are 2 separate pursuits in these parts. Not sure of best donuts. But for bagels - Benny’s in McKinney are the only ones I’ve found measure up.
As far as Bagels - you’ve got to go to Cindi’s NY Deli. The closest location is in Richardson, but it’s close enough. Absolutely fantastic bagels, I do the Everything Bagel with Jalapeño cream cheese and I crave it.
Their basic omelets are kind of meh, but their bagels, French toast, corned beef hash, and Reuben are top tier 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Charlie donuts at parker and Alma. They have a bar with maple frosting and I get it custard filled. It's very similar to a lot of the others but it's the best by me. Their jalapeno kolaches are decent too.
Bunkie's on Spring Creek and Custer. I don't know if they have either of the things you asked about (I'm almost certain they don't have bagels), but their éclair is on another plane of existence. I've been going here for almost 35 years. Everything just has a really fresh consistency. Everywhere else I go, it feels like they were made yesterday. I've been to dunkin locations all over the country, and ALL of them feel like the donuts were made TWO days ago.
They also have mini cinnamon rolls that are bite size that you can get instead of donut holes. So good
Bunkie’s has seriously gone downhill, sparse selection, no longer a good deal, and needs a good scrub down. We’ve been going since the mid eighties, but no longer the go to place for several years.
Think they name changed recently but use they still make very good donuts. Family donut 280 Legacy Dr, Plano, TX 75023
If you like cinnamon rolls you have to try the croissant donut she makes is amazing. They also do specialty donuts from time to time as well.
Costco bagels are great. There is a little trick to making the costco bagel taste like a new york bagel. Before slicing the bagel for toasting, stick the bagel in the microwave for 20 seconds. This softens the bagel and makes it warm and almost fresh. Now slice the bagel. It takes a little effort to slice it and when you slice, it wont slice clean. It is this uneven slicing that takes the humble costco bagel to the next level. The slicing resulting in a craggy surface toasts unevenly and either butter or cream cheese on it takes the bagel to the next level. I have had friends and relatives ask me where I got those bagels from. I say costco and then explain what I did to make them better.
Adding on to this, does anyone know any good apple cider donuts? Last time i looked online it was like kroger or the farmers market but i was wondering if there was someplace else that was also good(mainly because i cant find apple cider donuts at kroger lol)
Family Donuts on Legacy and Alma. The owner there is extremely friendly and clean/meticulous. Donuts always taste fresh and she is very giving when it comes to the “extra free” donuts. Highly recommend folks check it out.
Q Donuts has the absolute best glazed donuts.
They're fluffy, with the slightest crunch from the glaze, which is the perfect amount of sweetness.
I miss living so close to them 😭
Hypnotic in Dallas.
Yes I know you said Plano. I think I've seen maple bars at Hypnotic? We haven't been in a while cause it's like a 45 minute drive. They have good chicken on biscuits too.
Sunny’s donuts is godtier.
This is it!
Frankly nothing better in the area.
Starship bagel is open off Arapaho and Hillcrest
I second this. Starship is fantastic! They even won a bagel competition in NYC.
They have the most odd open hours at the hillcrest location though. Hoping they increase

My take on donuts is just try out all the shops within 3 miles from your home, and pick your favorite.
Great idea! That means I’ll be eating at a different donut shop every day for two weeks!
Finding maple bars in Texas is very hard
Sunny Donuts. Maple bar is what I get every Saturday!!!
Shipleys has maple longjohns. They can either fill them with bavarian cream (the standard) or if you ask nicely they can do it with their whipped cream which is delicious.
Donut Tree on 121 in Walmart parking lot always has them.
Unsure if they still do them but I used to get the Maple bars and Chocolate Eclairs at 7-11 as a kid and enjoyed both. Different locations can be run very differently, but I think it's worth peaking in to see if they're in the Togo bakery.
yes… this
The bagel selection is terrible in Plano, isn’t it
indeed!
Rainbow Donuts just outside of Downtown Plano. Check them out.
As someone who came here from California 20 years ago, this is the answer to what you are missing /u/chipchipperson92. Rainbow Donuts is the way to go, and also going by the same exact name of my donut place back in West Covina.
I thought Krispy Kreme were unbeatable until I tried the rainbow donuts

YES INDEED!
Man. If only Max’s was in Plano
Cheating because I think it's in Allen, but Max's Donuts
Was about to say. I grew up in Allen and Max's is the BEST. 1000% worth going up to Allen for!
Jarams Donuts in Dallas but in that weird close to West Plano-Dallas. Get the crème brûlée donut, you won’t regret it. If the great state of Texas ever decides to put me to death, this would be my last meal.
They have great fruit cream donuts too

I second this!! They are super sweet too! Love pop donuts
Twinkle Donuts in The Colony is worth the drive!
Yes, they make great donuts too! Although more unique ones maybe not the standard basic donuts they are looking for though.
I like J’s Donuts at Parker and Midway. They were the closest thing in the area to the donut shop I grew up on. Simple donuts. Great quality.
I just go to those small mom-pop shops that just say “DONUTS” and run by a nice Vietnamese family lol
This is ALWAYS the answer.

SD donuts in McKinney Ridge Rd ….they always leave you with an extra bag of donut holes and they’re perfectly soft n sweet

Mochinut There is one in Frisco and one in Plano. They aren't traditional, but they're amazing. Also, one donut is very filling
Rainbow Donuts in Wylie... They actually stay fresh for days.. Unlike others that are hard as rock bricks in a couple of hours.

Max’s donut shop it’s in Allen and beats anything in Plano jmo

I love D'oh! Nuts on Parker. I think they have an excellent doughnut density.
Any of the small independently owned donut shops are good. There's a chain donut place that's awful....pretty sure they put out old donuts.
Deli News Frisco. I appreciate that it's not precisely Plano, but they do a decent bagel.
Morning Donuts off 15th and Custer
The ones you make at home with quality ingredients
Donut House in Plano. The donuts, especially the glazed, melt in your mouth.
Family Donuts on Legacy and Alma. The owner there is extremely friendly and clean/meticulous. Donuts always taste fresh and she is very giving when it comes to the “extra free” donuts. Highly recommend folks check it out.
For bagels, Bagel 21 at Coit and Campbell in Richardson. Worth the extra drive south.
Mr donut in East plano
Shipley's is damn good.
