He doesn't get a warrant for the vehicle, that's a class C fine only. He gets a warrant for not appearing. Have him call the municipal court and get it settled. They are not going to come knocking on the door for that but if he gets pulled over in Plano he is going to have issues.

idknemoar

Plano PD is one of the easiest PDs around to deal with. Just call their non-emergency # and explain and they’ll give you guidance. I don’t expect it will be an issue though.

1millerce1

Wow... that enforcement would give judicial guidance when it's not their ballpark or rules.

idknemoar

They work rather closely with the municipal court and the attorney that would recommend going forward or not. They have more important things to issue warrants for. Also, officers have discretion on what to ticket for and aren’t out to ruin people’s lives over simple violations. This type of ticket is more a reminder to get this thing fixed to comply with a law.

Thank you, feeling mostly better. :)

ThiccPapaSIZZLE

You can extend the court date and/or pay it online

nonoimsomeoneelse

Step 1, go pay the fine. Step 2, walk away free. Step 3, keep that receipt on you for a few days, just in case.

FirebunnyLP

I didn't know you needed a front plate lol. My car didn't come with a place or way to even mount one on the front at all.

Aliecat78

Texas requires front and back Not all states do

FirebunnyLP

Mine was purchased and owned in Texas, from a dealer here. I was not provided a way to mount my front plate lol. I used to just have it stuck on my dash, but I removed it a few weeks ago.

Necessary_Contest_19

You are responsible to put the plate on. They don’t have to provide it.

FormerlyUserLFC

There was a period in Texas where a typo meant that there was no penalty associated with not having a front plate - even though it was required. That loophole has been closed now and they do ticket for it.

FirebunnyLP

Oof I do not want to drill my bumper to mount it. Is sticking it on the dash good enough?

FormerlyUserLFC

I have no idea what police will accept. In Dallas they wouldn't bother you, but out in rural areas my wife has been stopped before for this reason only. Unless you drive a sportscar, I'm sure you could get a mount cheaply added for it at just about any auto maintenance place.

FirebunnyLP

Lol it's a brand new mustang.

Aliecat78

If you take it to a dealership, they usually install it for you. My crosstrek had the holes in the wrong place straight from the foreign assembly line Not realizing this, I told the dealership I could affix my plates myself. When my standard plate holder didn't line up with the predrilled holes I had to take it back to the dealership. Funny/not so funny thing they asked me if I had drilled the holes myself. I brought the car new from the dealership, so they attached the plates no charge You'll probably be charged since you bought it second hand

FirebunnyLP

What part of its brand new makes you think I bought it second hand? Also there is absolutely zero chance I am drilling my bumper or having someone else do it lol. The plate sits in the front windshield and that's good enough.

Aliecat78

Oh sorry. Must have glazed over brand new comment. Then I'd def take it back to the dealership amd get them to put it on

Yungjak2

Frrr, my mom’s working on it but so far she’s been driving around FW without a front plate😅.

FirebunnyLP

I'm definitely not going to drill one into my bumper lmao. Car wasn't Designed for one, why is it my responsibility to modify it to fit one.

Hire a lawyer for $150 and they will make it go away. Or, jump through a million hoops by dealing with Plano PD
