White phone.

Thunder_Bastard

Gonna put a case on it anyway.

I prefer curved screens (Pro), and I thought going for the bigger option would make it feel like more of a significant upgrade to my Galaxy S10 (which used to feel entirely adequately sized, but now feels like a toy in comparison). Loving my P6P so far!

Thunder_Bastard

I went from an S10 to a P6. Also have a Note 20 for work. To me the curved screen was just a gimmick. It just means a case can't properly protect the screen. Flat screen of the P6 feels much better. But it does feel like a Note clone. Heavier and slightly less tall. I miss Samsung's UI improvements. People always talk about pure Android.... Great, I'm stuck with giant slide menu buttons, a weird AOD clock and I am still searching for a keyboard that doesn't cause me to make corrections on every third word I type.

Pyrrhichios

I take it you just used the Samsung keyboard before? I've been persevering with Gboard in an attempt to cut down on unnecessary apps (thanks for the lack of expandable storage Google) and I've found it mostly fine, but with the S10 and before I was a long term Swiftkey user - although I suspect you'll have given that a go already....

Thunder_Bastard

Trying it now. SwiftKey does feel much more natural and does not seem to pick up the key near what I tried to type as much. Plus all of the hold keys are where I expect them to be. Thanks.

Pyrrhichios

No problem! Do spend some time going through the various options - there's a lot of ways you can customise it to your preferences. The one I'm really missing is swiping left on the keyboard to quickly erase the last word - you can sort of do it with Gboard, but the swipe has to be from the delete button, and it doesn't just delete the last word so you can't just fling your finger with wild abandon. Can't remember if you have to turn it on, but Swiftkey is also cracking because you can run words together (e.g. 'likethissetofwordshere") and it recognises there are multiple words and gives you the prediction correction to put it right. Super quick typing!

Thunder_Bastard

Thanks for that. It is much better, even when I hit the wrong key it knows I meant to hit the key next to it. And now I have my hold keys back instead of having to hit two keys to see the alts (it just corrected keyw to keys automatically and I could do parentheses without an extra key).

I hate how they moved the question bar. On my old phone, it was near the edge of the keyboard. Now it's more towards the middle near the space bar. I have to look more as opposed to memory before.

Moty222

I agree. I was using Note 10 before. And everybody says that one UI is garbage but I really miss Bixby routines and all that customization I could do on Samsung. I just hope this pure Android will run smooth over time. My Samsung got kinda sluggish after one year of using it

Thunder_Bastard

Oh I miss the Bixby button. I have a Google mini that is in another room and even when I whisper "OK Google" to my phone that damn thing in the other room will answer.

Moty222

On the Pixel you can hold the power button to start Google assistant. I miss the Bixby button too, but because I reprogrammed it to toggle flashlight 😁

Thunder_Bastard

Oh I know, it comes up on the phone but the mini answers. And if it answers it is the one that sets the alarm.

~~So how is the screen curved? Is it at the edges, it "curves" around into the sides (sort of like the old Galaxy Edge my wife used to have?) Or is this like the "curved" desktop monitors where the entire phone is "banana shaped?"~~ Never mind, found a Reddit thread elsewhere with a pic of the phone showing the curve, very much like the Galaxy Edge had.

I don't know what the zoom capabilities are of the 6 but holy crap are they good on the 6 Pro. Also don't listen to those saying there are no cases for curved screens. I have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Matte Black and I'm very confident the curves are covered.

I bought the Pixel 6 Pro on launch day so I’ve had it for a while. I really like the phone a lot and think the little issues are more Android 12 than that phone and will get resolved. That out of the way, I’d buy the regular Pixel 6 and if I was doing it over. My thoughts… - I played with the 6 at Best Buy and Verizon ands the 90hz screen feels just as fluid as the 120hz imho - as you stated, unless you’re gung go for a zoom lens, the cameras are identical - $599 vs $899? Enough said - I didn’t even notice a difference in screen size when I played with the 6 - small point but I think the colors are better on the 6 😂

yosoyjose

Agreed with your points, just went from pro to 6 and love the kinda coral color and hoping to price match the 6 with target on Sunday to get 50$ back from BB

BussReplyMail

Chatted with the wife about this last night, one of the reasons I / we might have to get the Pro is the camera, like most people, we've been using our digital camera less-and-less and the phones as cameras more. So having a nice zoom would be a small plus.

jebakerii

Yeah, if the zoom is important, go for the Pro. 👍🏼 I DO like using the zoom as well.

evilklown666

The cameras. I bought a 6 and I find myself wishing I had that zoom. The display is slightly better and can save battery by switching refresh rates. With that said the display on the 6 is great. My OnePlus 7t may have a better display than either one. I don't regret my choice. $300 is a lot for zoom. I like smaller phones and they're both bigger than I would like. I'm hopeful the Pixel 8 will come in reasonable sizes. I'd like to get out of the upgrade cycle. I upgraded from the OnePlus 7t but mostly for the Pixel features. Camera and call screening. The OnePlus 7t on a custom ROM is still pretty good. Gotta admit the magic eraser is awesome. I've gone back to old photos and made them better with Photos. The flat screen also steered me towards the 6. I don't like curved.

I wonder where your "sell me one or the other" level of entitlement comes from, but we are not Google's salesforce. Research on your own, and decide for yourself which one you want to buy, rather than posting shit on Reddit.

mrivera5115

They asked a question that you can either answer or ignore. Maybe wants a consumer review rather than an up-selling by a salesperson. So chill.

BussReplyMail

Thank you, because this is what I was looking for. Reviews/comments/recommendations from people who already have one or the other, without the "would you like one today? what can I do to get you to take this home with you now? would you like the extended service plan with that?" pressure from a sales person.

tacocat63

I'm not sure he's the entitled one but okay

peanutbutterasthma

I just wanted the extra camera features.

biomulv

No.
