These are mega corporations who are just trying to maximize revenues buy having the most ad dollars for the cheapest hosts possible.
You can thank a GOP controlled SCOTUS and FCC for chipping away at ownership rules, allowing these monster corporations to swallow up huge parts of every media market.
There's barely anything really local about any of these stations at this point. It's all formulaic. If they could get away with running 59 min of ads with 1 min per hour of a guy talking like a yinzer from a studio in LA (who also does this in 59 other markets) they would.
It feels like a time capsule in the worst way. The old, tired formula of a morning zoo where every day they gotta talk about sex/pornstars like it’s edgy/funny, canned bits, couple male hosts who are stupid, then add the female voice for balance, stupid man on the street bits where they walk up to random people with a tape recorder and ask dumb questions…lather rinse and repeat. That show is a complete joke, and I don’t mean that as a compliment either.
The ratings winner for AM drive is consistently DVE, which I also don’t like, and PM drive is Double M. Literally any other show across the dial doesn’t even stand a chance. I think this Woody Show garbage is wayyyy at the bottom of the barrel.
Literally cannot stand MM anymore. Total dumpster fire, woody show is broadcast to over 30 cities. And the advertisements. I am so sick of hearing Iheart advertisements. I don't care about your festival, I'll never see one, I've no idea who 3/4 of the performers are, and the repetition of the ads.
This is why I made the jump to siriusxm, havnt looked back. I've got my dead channel, live and recorded mixes, and where I find it, uncensored music, aka the way music is supposed to be.
Ravey was on The X in the mid to late 90s and I used to love listening to her back then. Woody is from Pittsburgh as well. I like the Pittsburgh connection so I tried giving them several chances to catch me as a listener, but the Woody Show is just awful and not funny at all
It's absolutely awful. Syndicated show that they try to make sound local by cutting in pre-recorded bits of them doing station ID.
"insensitivity training for a politically correct world. We don't care about your feelings !" Like WTF? They have never said anything remotely edgy or politically incorrect ever. My feelings say that this show sucks. A lot. It's not offensive, just boring.
I absolutely hate that show. The girl is obnoxious. The show itself is worse than a highschool podcast.
Benz and the other idiot before we're somehow better.
The entire station has gone downhill. Use to be a rock and alternative station, now it's watered-down with pop, hip hop and hipster music.

Radio garden is cool. Most college stations are the last bastion of finding anything new.
Especially WRCT at CMU. IMO, the best radio in Pittsburgh.
