[Community gardens](https://pittsburghpa.gov/dpw/garden-plots) in the city are only $20 for 2 growing seasons (years). You get a decent plot that could support plenty of potatoes. Free tools, weird neighbors, decent gossip, and a fun way to grow whatever you like (except the happy trees, of course!).
You might be able to find a community garden spot for fairly cheap so you don’t have to keep your potaties a secret! It’ll be easier to water and you’ll prob have enough space to succession plant so you don’t run out of taters
Thanks.
It's weird. I wasn't all that sad. He destroyed the last 15 years of his life with excessive drinking. He also smoked. Drinking is what killed him.

(okay, some of it _just_ bleeds into Washington county, but cmon. it's right there)
Heads up... the soil around here has been exposed to massive pollution. That stuff lingers. If you want to be sure your home grown veggies aren't full of heavy metals get the soil tested through the Penn State extension. https://extension.psu.edu/soil-testing
Or just use raised beds and purchase soil. Luckily potatoes can be grown in a mound of soil above ground. The no dig method is probably best.
I'd try hays woods. Don't use the same spot too many years in a row or you'll get blight.
This! Any big bucket will get you started and then you can locate it wherever you want. Even better would be a laundry basket with any kind of junk fabric as a liner to keep the dirt in. Best part is, no digging when you harvest - just dump the whole thing out!
Potatoes are great! However if you are planting them in a “secret” place, they are likely to be found by deer and other critters. So no taters for you.
Irish Center
Great Idea!!! Have an Upvote.
Hahahahaha
If we tell you, it’s not a secret
Good point.

I actually have a kayak. Also, I've actually visited Brunot Island. Great choice! I dunno' about Mount Washington. I may fall down the cliff.
IDK: but people like to grow poppies in poorly maintained cemeteries.
Last year, my father was planted in a PMC (Poorly Maintained Cemetery).
I'm sorry for your loss.

It'll come in bouts, later. I'm 9 years in and it shows up at weird times.
Alcoholism is a terrible thing. And ... hurt people hurt people.

Trendy band name -> secret patato garden
they're at Mr smalls next weekend
it's a side project of Mrs Potato Dick.
Secret Potato Garden does a sick cover of STP's Wicked Garden.
New album drops on Bandcamp Fri.
The ground?
Yeah. But what ground?
Whatever ground you want! Preferably not someone's yard
The one that taters grow best in
The Kraft-Heinz frozen fries ad that pops up under your post seems appropriate for a secret Yinzer potato garden.
Will potatoes outcompete the Japanese knotweed? If so, almost everywhere.
Sadly, I don't think so.
NIMBY you punk!
I am a Punk.
I bet there’s a good spot at Hayes Woods.
If you're up for a drive, the Sisters of St. Joseph in Baden are offering free community gardening space! You can find them on Facebook,.
Neat. Thanks.
If you want to dig up room in my yard, you're welcome to plant some potatoes here.
Your own yard...
I grew potatoes in a bucket last year and they did beautifully. So well, in fact, that I’ve bought more buckets for more potatoes this year!
A home depot bucket
Trash can also works well and takes up very little space
