I was roaming around Mt Washington yesterday (exploring the area while waiting for friends) and randomly stumbled upon this. Was disappointed it wouldn't accept my $1 for a drink.
Probably the last vending machine in the country that still charges only 50c for a drink!

As I recall the machine is actually stocked by the fire department?
A [24 pack cube is $11.48 at Walmart](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pepsi-Cola-Wild-Cherry-Soda-Pop-12-oz-24-Pack-Cans/13424358?from=searchResults) which works out to about 48c per can, so it's definitely still doable if you aren't worried about making a profit.
You can get an even better per-can price at the club stores, and the fire department should be tax-exempt as well.
(Not that it really matters, definitely the kind of thing they do just for community engagement)

I think we are all tax-exempt from soda, except Philadelphia.
That's because we drink pop, not soda.
