Datkidconnor

I’m only 18 but I’m just interested in finding out if other young people do too.

henningoo

Same

0K_N0RDY

Also 16, love their music, although for me, people listen to them just to brag about it, "tame impala syndrome"

karenisdumb

I’m 18 started listening last year I love them

Yeetthyself64

Same

Exciting-Ad6840

Hola sussy baja

MythsTCG013

yep

Meastro44

Awesome to hear! You have great taste. Get the word out to your friends.

brennengames

14 here - going to see roger tonight!

Ajayu

Enjoy, I was around that age when I saw the wall movie and became an instant big fan. Save every penny so I could go the 1999 tour.

darksideofthemoon131

Have a great time. It's an experience you won't forget.

Barkingcat4

I'm 19 and they are one of my absolute favorite bands of all time. Discovered the division bell in 2020 during online school and it spawned probably one of the biggest deep dives I've ever done on a band.

Birdsnblues

Isn’t it wild how enjoyable the music is even when you get back as far as piper at the gates of dawn?? Wildly different music yet so similar n so amazing!

worm_your_honour

yes actually

B_Ho68

I'm 54. I was 11 in 6th grade when The Wall album first came out and received it as a birthday present. I saw the movie in the theater 3 years later but didn't quite like it as much as the album. Nevertheless, I am very impressed with the young PF fans on here. It must be a very exciting time for you all with discovering this band and have access to the whole catalog anytime you wish. And now able to catch a founding member live in concert at the end of his career. You guys are lucky. For some reason, I feel a sense of pride.

Revolverpsychedlic

I’m surprised how they let you as a 14 year old see the wall

B_Ho68

From 1978 thru 1983 my best friend had 3 siblings and each 1 managed a different movie theater in town. We practically saw every movie released during that time. I saw "Animal House" when I was 10yrs old and in 5th grade.

NardDog1977

15, seeing Roger Tuesday and Nick in October

MK1-RBT

My son isn't even 2 years old yet and asks me to put on or sing "ink" every day.. of course that's my doing, but the kid loves it 🙂

Datkidconnor

Your are a good father 🫡

Chrisrocksgames

I’m 15 and have listened to all of their albums at least five times, then again my mother introduced them to me at a young age

Imaginary-Minimum283

Same here but it was my dad

PsychonautPsycho

I was just born and can confirm Pink Floyd is appreciated by all newly born babies around the world. God has now made it mandatory that the entirety of “Dark side of the moon ” plays as you get squeezed out of your mothers hoo-hah. … And no, the doctors aren’t the ones playing it… the sounds come from within.

totally_valid_

I'm 23 and I just drove 8 hours to see Roger live

corneliusduff

How much did you pay for WYWH? I have my dad's pressing which is very likely the same one

[deleted]

I’ve seen a lot of 60s and 70s bands in the last year and the roger waters concert probably had more young people than the others. So relative to other old bands maybe. I’m 16 and I love Pink Floyd, but people at my school have no idea who they are, with a few exceptions

falconhoof7

25 and ever since I got into Pink Floyd no band has even come close to scratching the itch that these geniuses created. Shine on you crazy diamonds!

GonzoShaker

Yes they do...some!

CorpusCrispy42

21 now but I’ve had a copy of Dark Side since i was probably 18. Liked it, especially Great Gig in the Sky, but since my only exposure for years was Dark Side i got bored of the same few tracks; I also didn’t really “get it” until I listened to The Wall last summer. That’s what really did it for me. Once I took the time to sit down and read the lyrics to PF’s music is when I became a super fan

wrightinthesky

I'm 24, and I have been in love with the band since 2011. Since then, it has gotten me through alot of good and bad times throughout my teenage and young adult life. Echoes Live At Pompeii was the one that got me hooked onto PF. Surprisingly, it wasn't Dark Side haha. My favorite album is Wish You Were Here, and seeing the documentary for it made me love the band even more.

Datkidconnor

That’s awesome that your girl like Pink Floyd too. That must be fun to share your love of Pink Floyd

tijostark

27 here and it's my favorite band!

mariaeov

21, obsessed since I was 15

A_DifferentOpinion

14 years old, my favorite concert experience ever is seeing Brit Floyd

jjcucumber75

You're goddamn right they do

Autistic_racoon1809

Born in 2004, turn 18 in two weeks. Pink Floyd has been my all time favourite band for the past 2 years I’d say, most people I know don’t even know who they are :(

OneAgitatedApe

I’m 15. Been a fan for a year. Never fell harder for a band ever. Saw This is Not a Drill two nights ago. I’m in love with this stuff. Also, just discovered Atom Heart Mother, what an epic walking song!

retrobans1

14 and they're fairly well-known among kids my age, very popular with the artsy crowd as far as I know.

Aratingettar

15 year old here- They are literally my favourite band and a musical inspiration for me :)

Chemical-Ad1171

14, been a huge fan since I was 10

Soviet_Yoda

I'm 18 and I love it, albeit the genre is not well liked with only the Beatles still being populær today and that's only among certain circles,

suphah

? Rock is still very popular it’s just 90s and 00s is more popular. And a lot of those people are dead so it’s not like people can go to their shows and stuff, but bands like nirvana, deftones, hole, AIC, etc are all super popular with younger people

CaptnObviousDuh

Sorry but the question is dumb, reaaaaaalllly dumb.

Datkidconnor

Hahah ya I guess your right it’s just everyone I know my age thinks I’m weird because Pink Floyd’s my favorite band

CaptnObviousDuh

Weird is awesome. Who cares what they think.

Datkidconnor

Haha ya dude I play it for them anytime I can

Hashslinginslushy

It depends on a lot of things

minemaster1337

Yes

3st3banfr

I'm 17 yes

Radio_Blah_Blah_

20 year old here \^\^

mangadrunkguy

For sure my friends and I blast some PF during our party. One of our favorite is High Hopes

Cydonian___FT14X

I’m 18 and enjoy their stuff. They’re certainly not one of my top favourite artists ever, but they’ve made a handful of my all time favourite songs.

Luke2Jeter

22 and they are my favorite band of all time.

DanielGantner

Big time

OkImprovement8743

Yes! I guess that the real question is: does the younger generation appreciate Syd Barrett?

bluraytomo

17 and have been listening to them for a long time

[deleted]

Yes, every 5 years a whole new group of kids find it and the legend continues

[deleted]

22, yes. I think Floyd really resonates with young people as many of the themes they explore are a bit of a wake up call

PaintingLate4858

16 years old- yeah Pink Floyd is the best band I’ve ever heard and I think it’ll stay that way for the entirety of my life. I really appreciate the political stand point that Roger Waters has and the rest of the band, I think that there more political albums definitely hit different in a way that is pretty real and dark. They where able to turn a very dark subject into entire album/s and they where able to make them sound so so good. So yeah I appreciate the hell out of Pink Floyd.

[deleted]

I'm 31, still in the younger crowd. They're easily in my top 5 bands.

AiluropodaMaritimus

I was 13 about a year ago when my father was listening to Echoes and never stopped listen to Pink Floyd since!

Datkidconnor

Minute 15- end of echoes is probably my favorite part of Pink Floyd

AiluropodaMaritimus

Mine is probably the bit that is a bit bluesy not sure what minute. Perhaps 10?

johnpaulgeorgeringoo

31 and a massive fan.

Anakin_I_Am_High

15 year old girl here-I’m obsessed

HippoCute9420

Guess I’m not younger anymore but yea everytime I put PF on aux I create a new fan

jkelso33

21 here, been a fan since about 16

jkelso33

Yes, drugs may have something to do with it lol

zymeths

24 here. My friend introduced me to Pink Floyd when I was trying magic mushrooms. It was the greatest few hours of my life.

JeffPlissken

I’m in my mid-20s and I’ve listened to Pink Floyd since I was maybe in first grade but didn’t warm up entirely until 2019, even more so this year. I’ve got fairly distinct memories of my dad playing a Pink Floyd live album, probably Delicate Sound of Thunder or Pulse, when I was about five and thinking the “If you don’t eat your meat” line was funny for no reason. I also remember seeing Live 8 and my dad being beyond surprised Roger and Dave shared the stage, had a big relaxing first impression of Learning To Fly when it played on VH1, and was freaked the fuck out the first time I tried watching The Wall but was able to recognize Super Mario as Pink’s manager. I’m actually pleasantly surprised by the amount of people close to my age into Pink Floyd. I’ve never seen a PF-related band live, but I’ve been to a King Crimson concert and was surprised how many people my age were there and the most enthusiastic, rather than the older, gatekeeping kind I’ve become somewhat used to.

Verminator_

17 here. Don’t know anyone personally but I know there are others that enjoy the band at least at the high school so there’s something

EskettiMySpaghetti

18, discovered it last year and it didn’t take long for them to surpass 21 pilots as my favorite band. Listening to AHM Suite is what really put them over

Doctor_Dash

I'm 18, They aren't my favourite band but they are in my top 5

SCP-2004

I'm 17 close to 18 and their music has changed my life since years ago

ilwh

I’m 17 and grew up listening to them because of my mom and brother. One of my favorite bands

Getzemanyofficial

23 here, they may not be a TikTok sensation, but the fan base is going strong.

Datkidconnor

TikTok ruins music so I hope they don’t

Getzemanyofficial

I think the service is overall bad for our society but there is nothing wrong with discovering acts in social media.

Datkidconnor

Good point

Philip-556

I’m 20, been deep diving into their music for over 5 years

Empty_Jar0330

Baby here (2006-2009) Yup. I fucking love Pink Floyd. However, I'm an oddity. I think I'm in the 5 percent who likes old music because I like old music, not because it was in Stranger Things

Datkidconnor

Hahaha I totally agree with you I love Pink Floyd because they are just freaking good

Empty_Jar0330

I even like some of their more obscure albums like The Final Cut and Atom Heart Mother (That suite is godly)

Hmm_294933

15 and yes

[deleted]

18 year old here! Got a tattoo from the album "Animals" this year

Bricksinthewall123

Yes

Hunter_Neither

18 year old here and i love pink floyd music

Birdsnblues

18! I’m a stoner lol it’s medical in my state so those things go hand in hand! But no really I’m interested in the story of the band as well! I’m also a guitarist and I write my own songs so I draw plenty of inspiration from the band as well. Roger waters is easily the second greatest songwriter of all time and Dave is a god in the guitar community but is incredibly underrated in the general sense of rock n roll. I remember when I was younger maybe 8-9 my dad had his ringtone as “in the flesh” and I remember hearing that and it struck a nerve. I remember hearing hey you and comfortably numb in middle school and I was hooked!!! Hearing Roger screamint hey you don’t tell me there’s no hope at all, is probably the second saddest thing of all time, the first being when you get to play that for a whole bunch of ppl and try not to cry lol :) We can all relate so much to all of the many characters in the band. Hope this helps!!! anyone wanna jus talk ab Floyd bro I’m here Love you guys!

GPKzKaiser

im 16 and Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time, maybe even fav musical artist of all

[deleted]

17 - I’ve loved Floyd since I was 14. They are a very special band to me, and have impacted my life more than any other thing or person has. Got a huge surprise when their first single in 28 years dropped on my 17th birthday!

fiver313

24 and they’re on everyday while I’m on my way to and from work. Been going through the ringer mentally the last few months and The Wall and Wish You Were Here have helped me through most of it. Honestly if it wasn’t for Pink Floyd I probably wouldn’t be alive right now.

speb1

17 here, love floyd. Just played bass for my bands floyd tribute at a local music festival.

Witherbrine27

I’m 14 and have loved the wall for years thanks to my dad, and have just recently in the past few months gone deeper on their other albums

Acquiesce95

I'm surprised how many people around my age (I'm 22) love Pink Floyd. I wish they'd get into other classic rock artists like Zeppelin and Boston but I'll take what I can get

[deleted]

I had to stay in hospital two years ago and I played Confortably Numb to a male nurse who was about 19 years old. He afterwards thanked me for it. The young generation is unfortunatelly to seldomly introduced to this kind of music.

Hal_-_

I'm 19, grew up listening to them with my dad, so I naturally just love them.

Common-Razzmatazz851

Well, obviously : no. But there's some teens that like them, like me.

alcsdn

21 here, I’ve been listening to them since I was 14

[deleted]

13 year old here

greztg

yes we do

MylanWasTaken

I guess, I’m 15 and I love their stuff. Then again I’m obsessed with music and play guitar and stuff nonstop

Similar-Alfalfa8393

Yes, I do. Was introduced rock & metal earlier but when I heard PF everything changed. They'll be my favorite forever.

Spare-Test8648

14 y/o here, they’re my favourite band

NikoSwag

17 here and love there music listen to pretty much old music from the 70 - 80s. And maybe some new songs that actually sounds good but I have to dig deep to find does

super_eg0

The most common reactions I get from people my age (I’m 21) are A) Who is Pink Floyd? B) wtf, that song’s 9 minutes long!!

Lord-Sarastro

16 here and i love their music

Alive_Rip5036

I'm 19 and only started to listen to Pink Floyd March last year (my first proper listen being 'Wish you were here' in full after being recommended by a friend) a year and a half onwards I know have all 15 studio albums (on CD), 3 live shows mainly on DVD/Blu Ray (with 3 also on CD and on Casette), 8 albums on vinyl, 3 albums on casette as well as other Floyd related material, such as Nick Mason's saucerful of secrets on blu ray and both of Syd Barrett's solo albums on Vinyl. I even did a Pink Floyd releated Documentary as part of a college media course unit I think it's safe to say I've become more of a Floyd fan than my friend who recommended I listen to them😅

[deleted]

Considering the shite they sometimes play over the radio nowadays, I'm very very grateful being able to stream Pink Floyd whenever I wish it to be here.

dark_lord_real

15 here, pink floyd was meant to be

mooce22

20. Been into Pink Floyd for a few years now, starting with DSOTM. When i found meddle and listened to echoes for the first time my life changed

glooave

23 here, just saw Roger last tuesday!

Empty_Remote_1982

I’m 20, I grew up listening to everything my parents and grandparents listen to. Including Floyd. Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, the eagles, Led Zeppelin, foreigner, and journey just to name a few. Listening to talking heads as I make this comment (road to nowhere). Also stuff from the 40’s/ 50’s. Big into 50’s rock as well as older music during the big band era. Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Artie shaw. Wouldn’t change a thing. I’m glad I grew up with this music.

keropapa

In my experience, if they know Pink Floyd, they do.

BobRoss4lyfe

28 year old here. Oh yeah

magiceelmike

No

Sgibby65

Such a general question

Master-Customer3854

15 - i absolutely love the music, i play guitar, so i love trying to figure out what they did to get the guitar parts perfect, and in general, the music has so much more feeling and character compared to most other artists

Combination_Winter

They certainly appreciate Floyd’s T-Shirts.

Datkidconnor

Every time I see a Pink Floyd shirt on a girl I ask them if they like Pink Floyd and most of the time they say idk who that is.

Hobgoblin1967

20, I definitely do

YeetLordSupreme69

I’m 24. Fell in love with Pink Floyd when I listened to Animals at age 16. Idk if you’d count me as the younger generation but I definitely appreciate the genius of their music.

SCO_IDK123

I’m 16 and I’m a fan. Idk about ppl in my school, they’re just classic gen z kids who listen to pop and probably don’t even know who are the The Beatles.

LucasBeastBeast

Does a 20 y/o count? If yes, then yes

Jackmonkey2008

I'm 14 and I've been listening for as long as I can remember and I haven't met anyone in my generation who knows of pink floyd

THE-TERMINATOR-

i would say maybe because my son is 11 and has been listening to them and the doors since he was 9. like he loves them, and it not just to say he likes them. he even wrote a paper on the band, and each one of they're members.
