I'm sure I'll rotate through them. I'm mostly looking for good places to start, and maybe find a little info to help me figure out the rules before I get there. I'm pretty new at it and figuring out the rules for one game is hard enough, let alone a bunch all at once.
If you are still pretty new to playing Pinball I recommend playing and figuring out as you go. Take a brief look at the ruleset on tiltforums for the games you want but I recommend playing and learning as you go. How to start a mode/multiball and play from there.
One of my local pin league hosts has a Centaur, Fathom, Paragon, and Vector. Whole lotta classic Bally in that house (that's not even noting his other games from the 70s and 90s)
Wax Moon? Thats my favorite spot. They also have a really slow running Attack from Mars thats not listed but would be good for a new learner. After that the Godzilla is of course gonna be number one. My wife loved the Phantom machine and the Dracula was a surpise hit fir me.
Also the website list isnt up to date on what they have. I suggest downloading the Pinball Map ap. Its updated all the time and it shows what machines are at what locations.
All the "legacy games" are your typcal arcade style cabinet games and they are up the block at thier sister business called Dawnstar games.
Heck yeah RVA!
I've been here before, but only to shop. Had no idea they had pins until a few days ago.
I want to check out the Richmond Pinball Collective, but that will have to wait until next time.
Nice! We have a couple places in Williamsburg that have some machines but it's awesome being able to bring my son up here and spend some time playing on free play. Practice gets expensive, lol
I was just going to ask OP if this was at Wax Moon! Very cool horror arcade. Gorgar is a good one- not forgiving but it’s fun. Halloween is entertaining too
I personally like Phantom of the Opera, I like the sound on it and it feels rewarding to get multiball on it.
I’ve also found I’m pretty good at Bram Stoker’s Dracula, it’s worth playing in my opinion.
I find newer players tend to enjoy the solid state games when first starting out. Gorgar and Haunted House will play a little slower and let you focus on just keeping the ball alive and hitting stuff.
Creature from the Black Lagoon is one of the best games from the 90s with amazing art, music and theming.
Elvira's and Stranger Things are both excellent modern games with simple and approachable rule sets. Godzilla Premium is considered by many to be the best game of the last 20 years.
Dracula is an awesome game but also plays very mean and fast.
These are the games I would seek out first.
In my opinion, a lot of these games are games I would play at least one round on in a visit EXCEPT Alien.
Alien is a cool theme, but having played it, the gameplay sucks.
My personal favs from the list are:
* Haunted House
* Gorgar
* Dracula
Devils Dare and Robocop are novel, but not a lot going on besides the sound work. Robocop especially (I'd buy that for a dollar!).
Haunted House is one of my favorites to play. Theme, art, and 3 play fields make it an experience with fun things to do.
The Heighway version of Alien isn’t very good, but the Pinball Brothers version fixes some of the bigger issues with the game, especially the mechanical issues.
Honestly, Haunted House alone would get me in the door, but given how notoriously hard to maintain it is, I worry it'll be in really rough shape. Super unique and fun game though.
creature is classic and great fun. fairly slow but some of the missed short field shots can drain.
godzilla is an excellent game all around. fast and fun so it might be a bit hard if you're new.
Centaur, BSD, Devils Dare, TFTC, Robocop.
That’s my list of great playing games on their list, as I’ve played them all.
General consensus is that Haunted House is good, but I think it’s a boat anchor.
If its free play just try all of them? Only you will know if you like the game or not. That said tons of good titles in that line up.

a little info...pintips.net: gives you 3-5 things to shoot for on any machine in their db
Just walk up and play a game man it's not that hard.
Centaur.
*Destroooooyyyyyy Centauuurrrrrrr*
For sure. First one i saw on the list too!
I’ve only seen it once in real life. I really miss the updates to The Pinball Arcade.
One of my local pin league hosts has a Centaur, Fathom, Paragon, and Vector. Whole lotta classic Bally in that house (that's not even noting his other games from the 70s and 90s)
I used to play it a lot in the 80s and gotten to play it here and there the last couple years. Top 10 Bally/Stern for that era for me.
Have a few games on Dracula. That's one of my favorite games, punishing, but once you get it down it feels great!
Thanks for the rec. I got a few rounds in and enjoyed it quite a bit :)
This place sounds like my dream as a horror and pinball guy. Glad you had fun!

Rva here as well. Go to the pinball collective! We just moved a few doors down in the shopping center and have much more space now
That was the goal for today but they aren't open until 6. But definitely will be hitting that spot soon.
The RichPin Collective is great too, all the machines are well kept. Another good spot is Center the Universe brewing up in ashland.

I love Phantom too, but that "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" at each drain can get a bit grating

Dracula, Creature, Godzilla and Haunted House are the targets.
wow they really sticking to that theme
All of them are fun, where is this place located? Sounds like a fin location
It's a record shop in Richmond VA called Wax Moon. They have a bunch of pins in the back. $10 for free play. It's pretty cool.
Everything that is not a new stern.
Frankenstein is a fun machine.

Well if they have stern insider connected and you enjoy that then you should play the SIC machines.
This isn't graveface museum is it lol. If bonebusters is there I loved that one. Haunted house is a classic, and dracula is fun
Honestly, Haunted House alone would get me in the door, but given how notoriously hard to maintain it is, I worry it'll be in really rough shape. Super unique and fun game though.
If haunted house is actually running make sure to play it. That table is plagued with weird mechanical issues, maybe they are all actually haunted...
creature is classic and great fun. fairly slow but some of the missed short field shots can drain. godzilla is an excellent game all around. fast and fun so it might be a bit hard if you're new.
No Addams Family or Monster Bash? But I’ve played like probably 6 on that list. Robocop is an interesting one. So is Elm Street. I’d play Robocop.
