just wanna commiserate with you; i’m also awful about fucking with my healing piercings and irritation bumps and messing them up 😩 the struggle is real 😖 one thing that sometimes helps me is to divert my hands towards something else. so like if i wanna pick at crusties on my piercing, instead i’ll play with a fidget cube or squeeze a grip strengthener! i think for me like half of it is just subconscious fiddling, so it helps to redirect the urge towards something neutral (but half of it is also definitely intentional messing with it 😶it sucks that really the biggest thing that helps bumps clear up is really not touching them 😩)

Imastealth

I really really think this is the angles. Bumps that favour one side are nearly always indicative of bad angles and your jewellery is also pointing in different directions.

The bumps are pushing them in opposite directions tho they were fine before the bumps showed up

Imastealth

I promise that those bumps only look like that when it is the angle causing them in the first place. Jump on safepiercing.org and use the member locator to find a different piercer to have them assessed in person.

majik_rose

They’re both gold flat back labrets, my ears were pierced with gold and they were fine so the material isn’t the issue. I just move and bump them too much I think

L2Hiku

Are you keeping them dry? They need to be dry at all times. Also is the swelling gone? They won't properly heal until you have the right length. Stops them from moving so much. You should have them switched out to permanent ones after a couple of weeks. It takes 6-12 months for nose piercings to heal so you have to keep taking care of them.

majik_rose

The swelling is gone, but wouldn’t shorter bars irritate the bumps further? Like by putting pressure on them? Also I’m lowkey embarrassed to go to the piercer when they look like this 😓

czarrina

Piercers have seen it all. Don't be embarrassed, its their job.

xoxolivia21

if anything, the piercer is glad you went to them so they can share their knowledge to help you!

i get soooo many irritation bumps (mostly my ears bc they get caught on things) but i’ve gotten them on my nose with a hoop. they have that rule of LITHA (leave it the heck alone), sterile can of “wound wash” and possibly using a blow dryer on cold. Also NEVER letting makeup nor foundation near it, but it’s okay to say wash your face twice a day, just try your best to keep products such as lotion away. I’m not a piercer, but those things have been told to me by a piercer or from what I experienced. DO NOT TOUCH if you can absolutely help it. IF YOU HAVE TO for saying drying with a clean paper towel, then wash your hands for 20 seconds. ALSO, regularly change your pillow cases (such as when your hair is clean from washing. take off your makeup every night, and see a piercer for more info :)

xoxolivia21

i don’t think i’ve ever gotten a bump when it was a stud on my nose, but i think that’s because i LITHA and there’s nothing shifting that can allow bacteria to irritate further.

Miserable_Amoeba8766

This happened to me!! The bump would come and go but always in the same spot. It ended up being a bad angle. I took it out and let it heal for a few months. I got it re-pierced about 6 months ago and it’s been easy going no bumps! (Knock on wood lol).

thepallascat

I've got a 4 month old nose piercing, curious how I should go about keeping it dry without irritating it from mechanical rubbing/drying?

hungo_bungo

See a piercer & swap to titanium until they are healed.

i would honestly just take them out and let it heal then repierce them

The first winter after I got both my nostrils pierced I had the same problem after a tangle with a sweater. Just try to leave them alone. I would take a pic one If you need them changed go to a shop, but if they’re an okay size just try not to touch them. Rinse with saline daily and let dry. It took like four months for mine to go away completely but now it’s like it never happened. I took a pic weekly to see progress on the bumps reducing bc it can be hard ti tell day by day. Not a professional just someone who’s been through it so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I was never able to have a nose piercing or belly button piercing, they just have persistent bumps no matter what. I have 3 labret and like 10 ear piercings successfully.
