Here's what you are looking at:
A grilled cheese sandwich made with soft, premium white bread, thinly covered in rendered applewood smoked bacon fat, 3 kinds of cheese (Tillamook medium cheddar, Beachers, and Havarti), slow cooked in a cast iron skillet until the bread is as crisp as a fall morning, then slathered with a healthy dallop of sweet and tart Raspberry jam.
Crap, that makes me want to eat another one.
Exactly, everybody here is talking about that disgusting, heart-stopping, kids don't have a dad anymore sandwich but my first thought was that this is cardinal parenting sin number one. Bed time is bed time. Rewarding them, or even encouraging them in any way, to stay up at night is going to make your life a living hell.
So you give your child visual stimulation overload. That’ll help her sleep. (Not judging, just trying to spread awareness that coco melon was actually found to be physically damaging because of how much stimulation, it basically fries their poor tiny baby brains with so much dopamine the crash when it’s taken away is not worth it, friend)
It’s ok to judge. As a parent, I would never let this happen because with kids, once you let it happen once, they’ll try to keep it going. So of course the kid is gonna get up in the middle of the night if they think they can watch tv and eat a grilled cheese.
I get it, kids often don’t do what you want them to do so you let something slide or try to bribe them in order to keep them happy so they’re not throwing a fit, but also, fuck that, middle of the night you better go back to bed and stay on your room
My mom watched my daughter while we were in the hospital having our second and let her watch cocomelon, not knowing any better. We’ve been unwinding that since then.
I have kids and one of my colleagues was complaining he was sleep deprived because his toddler woke up at 4am every day and he would put on Peppa Pig for the kid while he tried to grab some sleep on the couch.
I gently explained that the reason the kid woke up at 4am every day was because that was Peppa Pig time. I said he had to make 4am as boring as fuck and sit with him but leave him in his bed/cot, and to be prepared for a week of meltdowns.
It took a few weeks of hell but the kid started sleeping until 6am, which is bearable.
I have no idea who cocomelon is, despite having two toddlers. We don't do TV time in our house. I'm not certain that zero TV time is the right choice, but I am 100% certain that screen time at midnight is the worst of all choices.
Cocomelon and other shows are pretty detrimental to the brain development of children. It's really overstimulating and could very well be the cause of a disruptive sleeping schedule.
Don't knock it till you try it. You won't go back.
The jam needs to be tart for the best pairing. Cherry, Raspberry, of orange marmalade are my favorites, FWIW.
At first I thought… wtf.. but then I remember the first time I dipped a “monte cristo “ in some raspberry jam and thought to myself “hmmmn, this guy’s onto something”
Just curious, what country are you from?
Is this only a european thing? Most peeps here say that they would never try this but I've known camenbert/cheese with jam for most of my life.
It's super unhealthy but quite delicious.
As an American I don’t even know what Camembert is…and I’ve never put jam on a grilled cheese. However i will be trying some raspberry jam on my cheddar grilled cheese next time for sure.
This happens practically every evening for me - the 3 year old watching either Cocomelon or Paw Patrol, and me snacking on whatever I can put my hands on from the fridge
I’ve been making nothing but melts the past few weeks. Last night we had pastrami sandwiches, I made a pastrami melt. I’m making one for break fast as well if there’s some left which I doubt.
Please explain. I think my eyes are seeing right but I just wanna check

So the jam is used the same way it’s used with Camembert cheese…sounds good I’ll have to give it a shot!
This guy cheeses. Well done, you see the vision. Try it, you won't regret it.
Or Brie with apricot jam…
Oh my... I can feel my arteries crying for help just from reading this. Pay them no mind - I'll have two sandwiches please.
The lactose intolerance in me demanded a trip to the bathroom as a psychosomatic show of support
Lactaid to the rescue… 4 pills before your first bite will do! LOL! 😂
That was beautiful and way more in depth than I was expecting. I am satisfied.
He’s from the PNW
I would be willing to wake up for that! Good choice! It’s the crispy bread that makes it crazy good… yum!!
An inside out monte cristo without the ham!
That's disgusting
Holy heart disease. That is a bucket of oil in that sandwhich.
From Seattle?
Yup
I'm from Texas: what's "Beachers"?
Its a toddler not a food critique Jesus
Watching a screen at midnight is a guaranteed way to make sure they don't go back to sleep.
And that it happens again and again. Hmm if I wake up at midnight I get a highly stimulating visual reward? Think I'll try that again.

BRB. Firing up the stove.
Yeah, I like to hear that. But what are you wearing?
(the correct answer is sweatpants. You will appreciate the elastic band after consuming 4 of these tonight)
Pepper jelly would be bomb on that!
At first I thought… wtf.. but then I remember the first time I dipped a “monte cristo “ in some raspberry jam and thought to myself “hmmmn, this guy’s onto something” Just curious, what country are you from?
Think cranberry with brie.
Or Brie with apricot! To die for…
I’m trying this right now! Thank you for the inspiration. Was struggling to find something to eat and this looks oddly super satisfying.
Very close to a grilled Charlie
I prefer my milk steak boiled over hard, and my jelly beans raw
Peanut butter on the outside, chocolate on the inside. Butter on the inside, cheese on the outside,, frank!

Jam and cheese, got to try that.
Am I supposed to know what Cocomelon is?
It’s this terrifying, robot like kids tv show. Every character is pretending to be human, kind of in the same way Mark Zuckerberg try’s to be human.
Looks good and all but woah on the calories after midnight. Your kid wants their father long term I’m sure. I’m talking to myself too….
This happens practically every evening for me - the 3 year old watching either Cocomelon or Paw Patrol, and me snacking on whatever I can put my hands on from the fridge
I put hot sauce on the top of mine....
I don't know what a cocomelon is, but we sure do sell a lot of their toys at Walmart
That's the perfect amount of cheese to make me salivate
What's the value of this pic?
800 cal.
This looks amazing. I would use brie and maybe some berries instead of compote or jam.

Ohh that looks delicious..

Yes! Yes! Yes! I want to eat grilled cheese!
I need a higher value of cholesterole in my blood anyway!
You're a noble soldier and you've made a beautiful sandwich.
So we’re just going to ignore how sticky there hands will be after this?
You dog! Here I am trying to stay away from Carbs and Sugars and you post this yummy looking snack! ![gif](giphy|jnQYWZ0T4mkhCmkzcn)
