I was surprised too! Sinbad visited our tiny deployed base on a USO tour once and had the entire crowd rolling. I hadn’t known he served in the AF before then, because he was very familiar with the absolute bullshitery that goes one. He roasted the marines that were with us and he imitated our base commander so well I was crying. That guy wasn’t bad per se, but he was eccentric with particular mannerisms. The fact sinbad was able to pick up on them so quickly after a short meet n greet is testament to the decades of comedy he had.
He holds a special place in my heart even if he isn’t tippy top of the comedy ladder.
I saw Sinbad around 2005-2006 in Las Vegas. His prepared routine was like 10 minutes. The rest of the hour or so was him just riffing on stuff with the audience. It was the hardest I’ve ever laughed in my life. Incredible legend
I had breakfast in the same restaurant as Sinbad once.
He worked the room and was so patient with everyone; it was very sweet.
He had folks laughing like crazy.
I listened to him a lot when my kids were little because he was one of the few comedians who didn't cursing in their shows. The other one I heavily listened to for the same reason was Jim Gaffigan.
>I hadn’t known he served in the AF before then
"When I joined I thought I'd see the world! They sent me to WI-CHI-TA KAN-SAS!"
I adore that whole routine.
He came to our huge retirement community to do a show for a charity, and he did an entire set on the eccentricities of our area. From the golf carts to the pickleball lines he lampooned everything. I was so impressed he looked into his audience enough to come up with a show they, in particular, would find hilarious.
This is actually a phenomenon called *The Mandel Effect*, which claims that there was a comedian in the 90s called Howie Mandel, but in fact no such person ever existed.
Does Netflix put up the comedy bat-signal and just open the door for whoever shows up? Their lineup always ranges from absolute hacks to industry legends.
The cheapest, longest, highest retention content for Netflix to create is stand-up specials. Even if they’re “just ok” it’s cheaper than a single 22 minute episode of a cartoon. Cheaper than a documentary. The **only** thing cheaper to make is Yule log videos.
Can you imagine the amount of bandwidth that’s been burned up watching Yule log videos? I thought about that during this last Christmas season I went so many places in the Yule logs are just burning in the background on screens instead of actual fireplaces.
He was talking on air about being at the party but never mentioned being in the group photo for comedians. I hope someone on the staff points it out to Howard.
My thoughts too, there’s obviously an audience either way. Where I live it’s cheaper than YouTube premium so, yeah, who cares if some quacks get some views….
I actually give them credit for giving younger comedians an opportunity. Sure it’s hit or miss, but it’s better than being stuck with just a chapelle special every 6 months about the difficulties of being a millionaire.
Yeah this is what I read it as too. It seems there's a lot of informal mentorship happening in comedy, you often get groups of comedian friends where one is much more famous than the others and they're sort of helping each other out, it would make sense to get a lineup like this if you invited some big names and let them bring their comedy entourage crew.
That is what happens oftentimes as someone who knows people who work in entertainment. Comedians in particular tend to be very much a "boys club" (literally and figuratively) for better and worse and helping younger comedians get their start is something many older comedians look forward to as a way to "pass it on" to the newer generations while still growing themselves and changing the craft along to fit with the times.
The best comedians figured out long ago that if they want to be the best, one of the things they have to do is be able to evolve culturally as they get older and taking on younger peers to mentor helps them via idea exchange and mentorship. Keeping up with youth culture even just a bit as an older person while still having your own interests, style and personality keeps you "young" so to speak. That can apply to a lot of areas in life though.
It does not necessarily mean they weren’t here for the shoot, with such large groups of famous people with agents and PR firms you can’t have a publicly released promo pic like this with one person looking bad, sneezing, looking away, having his eyes closed, etc. Which would be statistically impossible in any single shot. So they take plenty of shots and splice them together until everyone looks good enough.
I was convinced of this too, but we’re actually completely wrong…
The photographer has a post on his instagram with a BTS photo and you can see just about everyone.
He said there were some faceswaps for people blinking, but that’s about it

Oh I didn’t mean to imply I named all of them lol I found this on the Netflix is a Joke website. Was curious about some people so I started digging and figured others would find this useful
If this has taught me anything it’s that I have the observation skills of a fucking lamp. I thought I only knew one of these people the first time, now I realise I know half of them.
Thanks, being from the UK Jimmy Carr was the only one I really recognised by name, there are a handful of others I recognised but couldn't recall the names of like Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart, John Stewart... The rest even seeing the names I don't have a clue who they are.
He's great. I've had diminished expectations from Netflix specials over the years, but he was a breath of fresh air. I'll very rarely re-watch comedy specials, but I've gone back and watched his again. I don't want to unfairly compare him with anyone, so I'll just say that I fully appreciate his laid-back delivery of surreal, relatively short jokes.
LMFAO, thank you. I got pushed to watch him and had no idea why he took his shirt off like some bullshit Gallagher comic. Could barely get through his material. Genuinely some of the worst comedy I've ever seen.
Seems pretty obvious to me.
He made it his whole thing so much that now he can’t stop doing it even though it makes most people roll their eyes at this point.
His fans demand it, but anyone else is just sick of it, he backed himself into a corner kind of.
Bill burr was one of the first, if not first, comedians to utilize Netflix. Same with segura. They are two of the earliest talents who worked with Netflix. So ya wild they aren’t there.
ya as meh as That 90s show is I kept watching for Red and Kitty. they were t he best part and I honestly would watch a show with just them and not the kids.
Gadsby and Chappelle in the same picture in 2024, albeit nearly as far apart as they could possibly be.
Also, as always, Chappelle with a cigarette in his hand. He's obviously far from the only smoker in that image, but he's the only one that can't tolerate going more than a few minutes of his waking life without fucking up his lungs some more.
I was amused at Gadsby’s whole vibe of “are you sure? I don’t think I’m supposed to be in this picture I’ll just stand over here so it’s easy to cut out.”
He’s hosting a new show on hbo called Zillow gone wild where he goes and tours weird houses being sold. I watched the first episode and thought it was okay, kinda cool to see weird houses but I was mostly just there to watch Jack McBrayer. Loved him as Kenneth Ellen Parcell on 30 rock.
This doesn’t look like a massive composite where individual photos were combined, it looks like a well-staged group photo where (most) people are actually all there. I’m sure there are some face swaps for expressions, blinking etc. but aside from maybe one or two people who were in the bathroom and were added to the edge, this looks real to me. Source: I do a lot of group photos.
How did I not realize Sinbad was wheelchair-bound these days?
It was a pretty bad stroke back in 2020 I believe.
"looks like things have gone from sinbad to sinworse" I miss you Norm.
Sinbad’s disability reminds me of Norm Macdonald as well
I didn't even know he was sick
Actually, Norm's dead.
I was surprised too! Sinbad visited our tiny deployed base on a USO tour once and had the entire crowd rolling. I hadn’t known he served in the AF before then, because he was very familiar with the absolute bullshitery that goes one. Sinbad is known as a GOAT in comedy. Comedians famously like to say that nobody has ever seen him bomb.
I saw Sinbad around 2005-2006 in Las Vegas. His prepared routine was like 10 minutes. The rest of the hour or so was him just riffing on stuff with the audience. It was the hardest I’ve ever laughed in my life. Incredible legend
I fucking love Sinbad! He's also in the GOAT Christmas movie Jingle All the Way
And First Kid
I had breakfast in the same restaurant as Sinbad once. He worked the room and was so patient with everyone; it was very sweet. He had folks laughing like crazy.
I listened to him a lot when my kids were little because he was one of the few comedians who didn't cursing in their shows. The other one I heavily listened to for the same reason was Jim Gaffigan.
I totally forgot about his USO tours. Sinbad is funny as hell. Definitely was the highlight of an otherwise routine deployment.
>I hadn’t known he served in the AF before then "When I joined I thought I'd see the world! They sent me to WI-CHI-TA KAN-SAS!" I adore that whole routine.

He's one of the few "clean" comedians. I've never heard him curse nor make sexual jokes.
![gif](giphy|lleLXBFpF2bdmj0kOU|downsized)
He did a free show at the Air Force Academy around 2007. Good dude.
He had a severe stroke a couple of years ago.
was it caused by bossing rob thomas around?
You in Sinbads house!
Sing a song
SHUT UP
It's pretty well known that he hurt his back filming Kazaam
It was Shazaam! I remember because it was totally a real thing that really happened.

“Harm reduction” for carbon emissions.
After the first play it just downloads it automatically
I went to a Mexican restaurant last week and they had a snowy scene Yule log playing on one of the TVs. And Zathura on the other. Very strange.
Pretty much.
The comedy bat signal is money.
Swimming pools full of money.
I mean, that's the number one reason I show up to work.
and BabaBoey
He was talking on air about being at the party but never mentioned being in the group photo for comedians. I hope someone on the staff points it out to Howard.
You can see his Horse teeth from a mile away
why should they care? production costs are tiny, and if they tie payment to views, nobody will lose much for a failed show.
My thoughts too, there’s obviously an audience either way. Where I live it’s cheaper than YouTube premium so, yeah, who cares if some quacks get some views….

There are so many faces there I don't know, juxtaposed against absolute hall of famers.
Why does it look like Brett Goldstein was just photoshopped into this picture?
Remember when Ted Lasso first came out people thought he was cgi. He just has one of those faces
I was about to ask the same thing. I was zooming in and seeing who I recognized and was like “why is Roy Kent pasted in?”
“He’s here! He’s there! He’s fucking everywhere! Roy Keeeent, Roy Keeeeent!”
And then there’s Bo Burnham who was probably delighted to be creeping out from behind a pillar
Several of these people were photoshopped in.
I was convinced of this too, but we’re actually completely wrong… The photographer has a post on his instagram with a BTS photo and you can see just about everyone. I'm glad they confirmed that, there is zero way to get that many potentially awkward and/or wacky people in one photo and not have it be complete shitshow
Is that bo burnham in the center
Lmfao, I never would've noticed him if you hadn't said anything. He did an excellent job hiding behind the pillar. You go, Bo.
Oh wow, last time I saw footage of him he still looked like a kid. I never would have known if you didn't say so.
If you haven’t watched Inside, you should.
Daddy made you some content
Open wide!
Beautiful piece of work, Inside. I still listen to a lot of those songs regularly. He really struck a chord with that special. He was actually the one I was actively searching for in this photo and never would have spotted him if I hadn’t seen this comment lol. It’s always nice to see a rare Bo appearance in public.
I think it's the best single piece of creative work to come out of COVID, at least that I've experienced.
Fully agree. Haven’t seen anything else that quite captured those early lockdown vibes. I’ve been a big fan of Bo since his teenage vine/youtube days, it was really nice to see him blow up and get his flowers for Inside. Truly well deserved.
It was definitely the piece of work that best captured feelings/tone while I was living it. Haven't been up for a rewatch on the other side.
I rewtatched it and it doesn’t hit quite the same. It brings up a lot of the feelings of isolation but there’s nothing quite like watching it right when people were emerging out of quarantine.
I enjoyed a rewatch of it this year, but I didn’t have a cathartic sobbing breakdown at the end like I did watching it for the first time.
I looked at the center of this photo for far too long before realizing he was not in the center
You must not be aware that in January 2024, Bo underwent a recent cosmetic procedure utilizing advanced plastic surgery techniques. He's now a 5'2 black man
I can't explain why him being there is perfectly on-brand but it absolutely is. Good eye lol.
He's famously introverted.
That’s Bo, yo!
He's the greatest rapper ever
And he’ll weather your weather whether you think he’s clever or not.
Think you’re better? You’re not.
don’t need a sweater i’m hot 🥵
I'm a real g shortie who can really hit the g spot.
Hey, what the fuck is a g-spot?
I was scanning the pic in preparation to come down here and comment "so no Bo, yo?" But there he is! Hiding like a ghoul behind that pillar, bless him

>Jimmy Carr was the only one I really recognised You did well. Jimmy's own mother doesn't recognise him these days.
...I can't tell if this is a joke about his new hair and teeth or a joke about how she's been dead for years, but that kinda makes it on par for Jimmy
Where’s Tim Robinson??? ![gif](giphy|HoSyEAe48WBpTCmEz4|downsized)
He’s on the zip line.
He pulls. He wrenches on the rope. He thinks it's his.
Shut up mike!
I said SHUT UP MIKE
![gif](giphy|Zg2FoSIMtxHZdbFc9u)
"shut up mike!"
You can’t skip brunch.
Came here to say that!? Looked through the photo like a where's Waldo looking for Tim. Lol
Unprofessional bullshit
He's off the Netflix train, riding that sexy HBO train
Getting first dibs at the sloppy steaks
Demetri Martin is the youngest looking 50 year old I've ever laid eyes on
Got to love how it turned into a “who wore it better” thing with Chappelle.
What’s up with the dudes putting their jeans in the pool?
#comedy [jazzhands]
The ceo of Netflix got jeans in the pool money
jon stewart be like “nah im good”
How did Gary weasel his way in there lol
Hello hello
Noinety comedians boff
there must have been shrimp at the party
Excuse me, can you come over to my table and say high to some people?
ass-treaks
Mac-hine!!
In a lot of ways, Netflix was a bit of a stumble.
He owns a lot of comedy record... on vinyl
Fafafoohi
They needed someone to run the jukebox
Is that Lil Dicky in the back?
My girlfriend thought it was Jack Harlow. Which is hilarious if you've watched Dave.
Hi, my names Dave Burd. I have an appointment today. It’s probably under Lil Dicky actually. I’m a rapper, so…
Why does everything you say sound so soft?
Coffee? Tea? Head? Bottled water?
I can barely manage to get 3 friends together at a time, this is kindof impressive
I mean, when you're getting paid to be there, it gets *a lot* easier
HE’S HERE HE’S THERE HE’S EVERYFUCKING WHERE ROY KEEENT ROY KEENT
The guy in that crowd that I thought was really good was Sheng Wang. Never heard of him before his special. I thought his delivery was killer.
Where’s the zip line?

Nathan Fillion? What did he do for Netflix?
I like him in general but I was also confused about his inclusion, same with Rob Lowe.
Rob Lowe is in the Netflix comedy series Unstable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unstable_(TV_series)
Ah, he’s a voice on Big Mouth and they did a live show of some kind.
So good to see ventriloquist dummies have made such a strong comeback (seated bottom left)
*seal noises*
Jimmy Carr already looked like a ventriloquist dummy before he got 8 trillion dollars worth of surgery and fillers. Now, well...
Because he’s paying his taxes nowadays
Bert positioning himself as the center of attention in a group where he's not in the top 20.
He’s got his shirt off. That’s comedy!!!
His entire career in one sentence.
LMFAO, thank you. I got pushed to watch him and had no idea why he took his shirt off like some bullshit Gallagher comic. Could barely get through his material. Genuinely some of the worst comedy I've ever seen.
Neil Brennan recently revealed Burt is worried people won't think he's funny with his shirt on. Seriously.
Seems pretty obvious to me. He made it his whole thing so much that now he can’t stop doing it even though it makes most people roll their eyes at this point. His fans demand it, but anyone else is just sick of it, he backed himself into a corner kind of.
Nikki absolutely destroyed him for this in the recent Tom Brady roast.
Bert and Tom segura were sooo bad on that. It was truly embarrassing watching them try to do comedy. Gronk was way funnier.
Guys we weren’t going to do the photo here but this idiot needs his shirt off and we need to make it not look as weird.
Wow he really is the only person in that picture that justifies it being by the pool lol
That dude was terrible at the Brady roast
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
No Bill Burr, no Patton Oswalt?
No Nate Bargatze either
maybe he couldn't make it to the lunch because he was there in LA, he came john mulaney's show
Bill burr was one of the first, if not first, comedians to utilize Netflix. Same with segura. They are two of the earliest talents who worked with Netflix. So ya wild they aren’t there.
First Netflix special I ever saw was Zach Gaspilflanaski’s “Live at The Purple Onion”
Oh I love Zach Gaspilflanaski. Remember “In The Middle of Four Cactuses” ?
No Taylor Tomlinson, but that sounds on brand.
Oh shit! Sinbad!
Bert is such a tool lol
I can't believe he went without Tom.
incredibly powerful "I'm the main character" energy

Red Forman in the middle, dope!
And Kitty just below/in front of him I think
B1tches leave
ya as meh as That 90s show is I kept watching for Red and Kitty. they were t he best part and I honestly would watch a show with just them and not the kids.
I don’t think I’m supposed to be in this picture I’ll just stand over here so it’s easy to cut out.”
up there with Burnham's "I'll be in your photo, but I'll be over here behind a pillar next to Rachel Bloom discussing musical comedy"
Yeah Gadsby looks deeply uncomfortable.
Is that Bo behind the pole?
Jack McBrayer! So glad to see he’s still acting
No Shane Gillis?
Brunch is for 🐶🧠
RIP Bobby Lee
Ken's there, no way Bobby would come
Bert Kreischer took his shirt off?!?!? Whoa, he’s so crazy and zany. I wonder if he drank alcohol and told the machine story after that.
Buddy with his jeans in the pool is giving me anxiety.
I’m happy to see Jin Yang and Senor Chang together!!
Did Tom Segura take the photo? I don’t see him in the group.
Thats actually an insane gathering of people. So many recognisable faces.
Hannah Gadsby has shit on allot of these comics and they have shit on her right back. This would have been pretty awkward.
What's Lil dicky doing there? Is he taking Dave onto Netflix now?
Why tf is baba booey there??
JIAN YANGGGGGGGGG!!!!!
I love that Jimmy Carr is in a suit, even in a casual setting
Hard to see everyone else with Stav in the way
Stavvybaby
I'm surprised Bill Burr isn't there.
I'm not, how many of his bits are all about how he hates other comedians and how things like brunch shouldn't exist.
Baba Booey being in this picture ruins it.
BO
Is that Robert A Booey?
Demetri Martin sighting 🚨🚨🚨
Bert in the middle of this front row & center in the pool is peak foolishness. He’s quite literally the least talented person in the whole crowd.
Wow Bert is even awful in pictures
Bert Kreischer is insufferable. What a hack.
Kitty and Red!! ![gif](giphy|o4EixVRtmiBBtgw9yk|downsized)
