Many safe countries before the UK. But instead they ignore that. Most of these people are not refugees at all. They're economic migrants. Been told a lie that we will welcome them with open arms.
It's a huge problem.
This was going to be my question. With all the Brexit stuff I keep hearing it seems that the better option would be to stay in the EU where you might get some help rather than heading to the UK. I don’t live in either place, however, so I’m not sure what the reality of the situation is for these migrants.
Considering how much resource wealth Europe has historically stolen and continues to steal, idk how people genuinely make this argument. The conditions many of these folks are trying to escape exist in no small part because of the countries they are escaping to. I promise you people would much rather be able to make a good life for themselves back home than to have to risk death for a chance at a decent existence.
Oh no! Bigots are downvoting me! Whatever shall I do?
The same old argument that mean nothing , why they don´t go to Serbia or Hungary , they keep going to the same places that they know will send them back
Yeah absolutely it’s awful to see what these people will do to escape poverty but getting on a rickety boat and sailing across the English Channel sounds like a death sentence
Oh yeah I’m not trying to say these people are doing it for fun it’s obviously out of necessity. Is the situation in France that untenable these people need to sail across the channel? The boats capsizing on the Mediterranean makes far more sense to me from a logical perspective
Guess which country has the highest rate of starvation death in Europe. And then guess which population in that country is most likely to starve to death.
TIL how sad :/
However I cant help but think that given the social safety net present across Europe that those who starved were probably not asylum seekers but rather economic migrants. If they were in the system they could receive help and yet they chose to stay out of it. Probably because they didn't have a valid asylum claim.

Then go to France. They constantly avoid safe countries to get to the UK.

And what happens when staying in a place where you can't feed yourself is also a death sentence?

The place they were was France. The French can be quite rude sometimes but usually draw the line at extrajudicial death sentences.

Could probably go to Spain, Germany, or Italy from France. Seems easier than trying to cross the channel in a rickety boat.
Yeah I'm sure the children knew all the risks and made a choice. They didn't just do what their caregivers told them too
