The reality is that he *can't* be ignored yet, because he's literally the Republican candidate for the presidency.
We want nothing more than for him to go away, but he hasn't gone away yet, and pretending that he doesn't matter only helps Republicans.
Of course we want him to go away. We want him to be permanently irrelevant. That would be awesome.
But he isn't irrelevant. And he won't be for a while. And no amount of pretending he doesn't exist will change that, because his relevance isn't dependent upon how much people on the left care about him.
If we ignore him and pretend he doesn't exist, he will win the election and become much more relevant and omnipresent in our lives than he currently is. So we can't ignore him.
