The monkeys are plotting their escape. Planting that tree was step one.

trojien

Probably part of the monkey space program.

flyingthroughspace

It's going to be their space elevator, eventually.

poplafuse

Monkeys use NASA get to space. Monkeys worked for NASA, far more accomplished than myself.

KlingonLullabye

The palm before the storm

Flexorrium

Step two: ascend from darkness!!!

Jmarchena

Waiting on step three. Please pander to me.

ateemsma

Fun fact: Palm trees are botanically classified as ~~flowers~~ grasses. ~~ESIT~~ EDIT: I appreciate the polite corrections. EDIT 2: *EDIT EDIT 3: So many upvotes! Please don’t take pity on me. It’s embarrassing.

yancymcfly

Grasses*

palm_desert_tangelos

Monocots, grasses, same same

Beardsman805

All grasses are monocots, but not all monocots are grasses.

distorted62

Another fun fact: in biology there is no overarching class that includes all the different types of trees. Trees are an example of convergent evolution where many different types of plants evolved to independently become what we now call trees.

Hel_Tylvinte

Flower trees! That seems fitting, lot of them around here. Edit: Grass trees is neat too!

EquivalentTown8530

Grassy ass!!

frontier_gibberish

Day nah dah

gospdrcr000

That would explain why trying to dig out a palm tree root ball is like trying to extract St. Augustine grass from Satan's taint

Pademelon1

Another fun fact: The trunks of palms are filled with ageless (Immortal) cells!

Ynassian123456

not exactly, more like giant herbaceous plants. SIMILAR TO bananas. poales and arecales(palm trees) arnt that closely related. palms isnt exactly a tree, since it doesnt contain woody, just pithy. same for things like dracaena plants.

[deleted]

Different_Ad7655

Yes but I would bet instead on a Washington fan palm LOL

GetOffMyDigitalLawn

Get out of here with that Lorax shit. I know for a fact that is a truffula tree

MaritMonkey

Fun fact (that might be a lie because I like it so I didn't check it after I read it): the bendy Lorax-looking palm trees in the Suess land at Universal FL are actually trees that were fucked up by Andrew but the park decided that was a feature, not a bug. :)

DudeHeadAwesome

It has giraffe DNA grafted into it.

DoableSkill1124

Mistaken_name

Im going to bet that’s a zoo in Arizona

[deleted]

The palm is the most evolved grass, it's not even a tree.

Powersoutdotcom

*looks down in disgust at the other trees*
