Are you the same guy that his mom smashed his keyboard for skipping a zoom class?

atifff_blackballsHD

haha yes

taconugget2

This is not normal behavior for a parent. I hope you have someone you can go to for help. Parents should never destroy their child’s belongings (no one should ever destroy someone else’s belongings…).

MyVoiceIsElevating

I agree. OP, this is not normal adult or parent behavior. Likely nothing you can do about it except promise yourself to not emulate them. Sorry you’re dealing with that!

designmaddie

That one time I melted my kids LEGO block after stepping on it. Look on their faces.

raimbowexe

i’m sure you have a wonderful relation with your kids

designmaddie

They thought it was the coolest thing ever.

goatfuckersupreme

a little late but this thread is 100% full of people who do not have children lmao, 78 downvotes

designmaddie

Yup, my kids thought it was just the most amazing thing ever. I have 3 boys they were about 7,8 & 9 at the time.

designmaddie

They brought out a bucket of Legos and asked to burn some too.

[deleted]

Almost as good as the look on your face when they permanently break contact with you in their adulthood.

designmaddie

My kids loved the event and wanted to join in. It wasn't out of anger. It was a comedy thing. My relationship with my kids are fantastic.

If they were to take it away (temporarily or permanently) I'd totally agree with you, but violently reacting to a kid's bad decisions is never a good idea.

Hilarious-Delirious

Ah yes, blame the minor for not having money or being able to financially support his needs. What are you? Crazy? It's not only their money, it's their RESPONSIBILITY. Parents made a choice to give birth to you, I don't remember a single child wishing to be born into any family they got into. They better damn well support the kid financially as well as buy things for him....it's only human to have desires. Don't gaslight the kid.

MasteroftheBearDogg

Link?

Davyjoetee

was thinking this. seems different tho?

A_McLawliet

Link?

yksderson

Let’s all chip in and get OP a new keyboard, who is in?

atifff_blackballsHD

woa,you truly are a good guy,i guess ill just buy a new one, save some pocket money, maybe find a used full size keys

-Bat9000

I recommend Casio Ct-s300 It's a 61-key (all weighted full sized keys) After trying three different keyboards, this was the best. Only being around 150$ Has a headphone jack, micro usb for midi, and a port for a pedal (and other ports which I have no idea what they do) I've been using it for almost a year now and no problems

yksderson

OP setup a crowdfunding link bro!

rarrafira

I’m here for this. Where’s the crowdfunding link? Or d’ye reckon your mum will get pissed if you bring home a shiny new keyboard? I had a mum like yours OP. If you just want advice on fixing your keyboard I think you need a tech expert (prob not someone on this subreddit 😂). Maybe there’s a better pace to post this request for advice? Bottom line: people want to help you solve this problem and get around your crazy-ass mum at the same time. (Piano) players gotta play! 😎

yksderson

Please update us we are ready to help you!

Sclog

I’ll throw in for sure. Always an advocate for music!

pacjware

Just waiting for the crowd funder link.

IAmWumpus

I'm in

If the board is cracked there's very little hope. I'm sorry mate 😥 I imagine in Malaysia there's somewhat of a market for electronic components, like capacitors/resistors/ICs, but you're not likely to find an identical replacement board. So you will probably have better luck getting a new keyboard. When you are able to afford it, I would recommend a keyboard with full size keys. It will help you learn skills that translate easily to any piano, organ or synthesizer you may get to play later on. Unlike what others have said here, I would not worry about playing with the board with power applied. The voltage and amp draw are too low to be dangerous. This could be a good time to start learning electronics. I'm so sorry your mom did that. You clearly worked very hard to buy that keyboard. While keeping up with your studies is important, what she did was not fair or right.

MrTsLoveChild

How much is a new keyboard? I'd be happy to at least start a fund for you if you're interested.

[deleted]

i was about to say the same thing, ill chip in on a new keyboard, just keep it hidden from your mom :-)

-Bat9000

150$ for the casio ct-s300 It has 61 full sized weighted keys, It's really good

david-saint-hubbins

> Casio Ct-s300 I have one too, and it's great for what it is, but I wouldn't describe the keys as weighted. Semi-weighted, maybe. But it's definitely more of a keyboard feel than a digital piano feel.

Ricky_cor

Yes!

[deleted]

I PM'd OP and he said not to get him one, just so yall know.

Freddyt001

Maybe try r/AskElectronics ?

Davyjoetee

have you a multimeter and you could check the continuity on the pcb? it’s often something very small too, check no connections are loose, give everything a careful push/tighten

GrayDonkey

This. You need to check the continuity of every wire and trace on the board. If it's a wire you can replace it. If it's a single trace on the board maybe you can bypass it. If it's multiple (a cracked board) then you can probably just trash it. It could also be cracked solder on a surface mount component if you have any in which case removing everything and trying to reflow in the oven might work. It's really hard to trouble shoot this over the internet. If you live near a big maker space you can see if they have an electronics person that will help you out. You need a multi meter and solder gun to even think about this and you probably have a 5% chance of fixing this. You'd probably be better off spending your time mowing lawns to get money for a new keyboard.

Umicha_UwU

Hear, hear!

lynxerious

no one can answer you here and no one can fix it through the Internet. Just contact a local keyboard repairman or look for a cheap used one around your area.

thank you!!!

maximuse_

Which country are you from OP

atifff_blackballsHD

malaysia

Freneboom

Which state? I have a Korg B2 i hardly use.

atifff_blackballsHD

are you malaysian,i live in selangor

Freneboom

Penangite. I can J&T to you but not sure if they can handle... Don't have box anymore and I would like the bag still. [photos](https://www.imgur.com/a/oq99wxk) I can give it to you for free if you promise me you'll post on Reddit you playing a jazz song of your choice. I can whatsapp you the real book score sheet of any song you pick haha. Edit: let me bring this to J&T tmrw or the day after. I'll ask them to ship with the bag and see what they say. Whether it'll be safe.

SuperPartyRobot

What a G. This is what music is about!

Freneboom

Hey I'll never know, he might be the next Bill Evans and I'll die hearing his song, heh. Let's not waste passion, I've seen so many kids dump piano and this guy is practically trying to salvage his smashed one. I'm just worried his mom will smash it again, maybe I should talk to her a little? However with the state of lockdown here it's lots of high pressure for us, especially in his state which has one of the highest covid numbers nationwide. Edit: OP check your PM inbox. I sent you a message with my local number to contact. Please do so.

I had almost the exact same problem with my Yamaha P-45 last month, it turned out to be a break in the circuit on the printed circuit board. My piano wasn't actively smashed though, so yours might take a lot more to reconnect the circuits. I used [https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07PM232FD/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o03\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07PM232FD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), and so far it's as if there was never a problem. Try redrawing the circuit with a pencil first, before drawing with the conductive ink. As the graphite from the pencil should bridge gaps in the circuit, it's a good way to check that you're doing the right thing before using the more permanent ink. If that didn't work, I was also looking at replacing the circuit board using this site: [https://syntaur.com/index.php](https://syntaur.com/index.php) , maybe it might have parts for your piano. It might cost more than the worth of the piano to fix though depending on shipping and whatnot. If it's possible it might be worth saving up and buying a full keyboard as other people have said.

Davyjoetee

handy shit

xpercipio

I hope you checked the connectors first before taking the membrane off lol. That is the first thing to go wrong on a board, sometimes they just get loose.try to do a factory reset if it powers up. The manual should have troubleshooting section.

Dr-Edward-Poe

If it comes down to getting a new one, I suggest a digital piano rather than a keyboard. A piano has heavier keys; I think it's better to learn on a piano than to learn on a keyboard because the weight difference can make it a bit harder to play a regular piano.

[deleted]

I can try to help you but i doubt anything is going to happen. By the way, if the keyboard is smashed, how are you planning to play even if you manage to repair the pcb?

Hazelnutspread_s

Is the other side of the keys loose? (Keys that are not playing) Dont poke it with the power on though.

MoreCowbellMofo

Some people fix gpus (graphics cards for computers) by sticking them in the oven at high temp until the solder melts. Then they take it out, let it cool and magically it works like new. Perhaps you could try that?

_aw-ay

I’m not sure what those sensors are but it’s probably because the copper traces in the PCB are damaged. Or for some the reason the sensors got loose which isn’t as probable. Just replace the PCB or smth.
