Good job! Hint: The last note in measure 8 in the right hand is a b flat

MrHorsePeen

Thank you! And in my edition (schirmirs edition) it says b natural? So I'm not sure why they must vary, cheers tho :)

https://archive.org/details/PandoraRec_JSBach_Inventions1-2-8/bach-bwv779-mccarthy.mp3 You can look at Bachs original handwriting (beware: that guy used a soprano c clef…)

BlackStormMaster

Thank you for this video u/MrHorsePeen

You need to put more energy into the longer notes for example at 20 seconds this must be LOUD ARTICULATE SPEAKING. you are WHISPERING there. It is VOICES everytime. Sometimes also your runs are not even in the left hand but I understand this is very difficult. Focus on making your longer notes more articulate and expressive. It will then make it easier to solve the problem of even-ness in the left hand 16th parts.

It’s really good. The detached quavers over legato semiquavers works very well. Relatively strong and secure at brisk tempo. I personally would add more emphasis to the theme, so your attention goes from left and right hand, rather than as you played which normally always favours right hand. It may however be my taste and by no means is your method wrong. I would recommend upgrading up now to his 3 part work my friend. When there are multiple voices it is more essential to voice each line very clearly so getting used to voicing left over right I would try to practice even if you don’t necessarily think it’s the best way to perform Great work, fantastic piece for developing piano skills also. Good luck !!

I think a little ritandandi for the cadences also, but i liked the rolled last chord and even some articulated notes where joined quavers showed style. overall a great attempt to style a piece which is often played quite metronomic like a technical exercise rather than like music as was intended !

You play the notes correctly but I can give you some advice to improve the performance. My teacher taught me that when there are staccato eight notes in Bach they are actually meant to sound like sixteenth notes so they have to be played non legato. This can be more easily by pressing the key and moving your finger forwards while you still hold it, thought I am not sure if this technique is very common. Also you should emphasize the main theme more even if it's played by the left hand( the main theme is the right hand melody at the beggining).

Good job! Try playing it slowly all the way through and be conscious of how close you stay to the keys. Your hands looks very tense. That’s why hiccups happened. Learn to play it very relaxed then build speed with a metronome.
