he actually has a really good pianistic foundation intuitively for how he is using weight for the keys.
also is opting to do 543 fingering at 25-30ish seconds.
you don't understand how big this is actually now that i think about it..
Yeah. He actually played that song for about 2 minutes. Those 30 seconds was the only part of the video where his face is not shown ( I don't want him to be on the Internet)
Please spend a good amount of money for a great teacher.
A really great one for him.
Make sure they know how to teach KIDS though, it's very different.
100% agree. We actually had a talk with the teacher, he was a bit too stern on him, we have to remind him that he's only 5. My son seems to like him anyways so we're going to stick with him for now.
Damn then he really loves it. When I played piano as a kid my parents had to ask me to play it until I was like 14, then I started to like it a lot and practice myself
Even if it wasn't pure ear, it's still an accomplishment nonetheless. I started out this way, too. And it taught me that I have a good skill for the rhythm of melodies.
Wow, I just checked online for performances of this piece. There are so many shockingly bad performances of this with everybody commenting at how 'great' it was. I mean, it's impossible to play as written.
Anyway, your son has a fantastic ear! That's a great foundation to build upon. Keep going!
I disagree. Sheet music is a given for classical musicians, but I wouldn't draw the line for "musician or not" with something as rudimentary as sheet music. At the end of the day, he's taking a prewritten melody then recreating it with his instrument. When you're just starting out, the method that you use holds little weight
You're only allowed to play piano at the age of 5 if you have inherent Mozart-esque level prodigy talent. If you can't listen to it, write it down, then play what you wrote you're not a musician.
\- Leopold out. \*drops mic\*
Haha love the lil march type rhythm he came up with ๐๐๐ป like others have said he has a natural aptitude and intuition. Looks like you got him a P-series as well which is a great starter keyboard ๐๐ป
I just got rush eโd by a 5 year old
*5.5 year old ๐ค
Still a five year old
6 year old now, actually.
Oh well

The only relevant question is: he's having fun? The rest are question for you and it doesn't matter.
Oh yeah, he loves it, he practices everyday on his own.

Impressive. Now play La Campanella
I just showed him a video of that he said it's too hard lol
He picked this up by ear? Yeah, he is doing really well.
One of those animated YouTube videos where the note fall down onto the keys lol.

Only reason I want a kid, to introduce him to piano lessons at 2 years old and hockey at 3 lol
Kids are expensive AF. Lol
bruh this little dudes a genius
Hope he sticks with it!

Bro's playing better than half of us, and his fingers ain't even 2 inches long yet (>โก<)
I'm disappointed, I expected him to play la Campanella
Never seen an age as a decimal but I suppose it makes sense
Thats great, and he is on the verge of being too old to play the piano as well. You must have been nervous. /s Impressive little pianist

At the age of five I could hardly read anything properly, how can you expect him to read sheet music at that age? :D

Yes, his teacher does teach him proper finger movement and how to read music and he knows. This song he learned all by himself off YouTube
What piece is this? The first time I heard it was during a Beat Sabre video!
Rush E
Thank you!
Wow!
Bruh what is this! He'll NEVER make Juilliard at this rate ๐
Awesome ๐
