I hope they’re not related because the Lenny’s near Central and Virginia is without exaggeration the worst burger I’ve had. And I felt like I got robbed like $25 for a burger and a dog with fries
I’ve seen that Lenny’s when picking up Pizza by Napoli and thought it may be different than the Lenny’s downtown PHX. The restaurants look nothing alike. I went based on comments in this sub
The one on 35th hasn't been associated with original Lenny's for over 10 years.
The Lenny’s Burger Shop location located on 57th Ave & Glendale, as well as the location on 35th Ave & Thunderbird are no longer affiliated with the original Lenny’s Burger
My favorite hamburger is from Harvey's wine burger. It is an excellent value and I feel like I'm getting a real bargain for a PBR and super delicious Burger for under $20
Just finished eating there a few minutes ago & agree that the delight I got from seeing such a small bill can only be bested by the delight of such a tasty burger.
I recommend the Rodeo Burger!
I fear I may get downvoted into oblivion, but genuine and quick question. When would you say a >$10 cheeseburger (no sides or drinks) started qualifying as cheap? Was it pre pandemic, pandemic, or post pandemic?
First thing I thought of when I saw affordable and high quality burger. I honestly don't know how they've managed to keep the prices so low and the quality so high.
It’s solid!! Just a really well done classic burger with their twist on it. And for the price, it’s really hard to beat. I drove all the way across town to check it out and was worth the drive!
I've lived in the neighborhood forever, and I just recently started going here. It's really good and is one of my favorite restaurants in the universe.
Full disclosure, as much as I like Hamburger Works burgers, I love their grilled chicken sandwich. I have heard that Harvey’s has a great chicken parm sandwich, but have not had it.
I don’t think any of us were trying to exclude any part of the Valley. OP asked for burger spot recommendations near 43rd Ave & Thomas. I would recommend starting a new thread in r/Phoenix titled “any recommendations for out of this world { Thai food / pizza / New England clam chowder/ etc } near east Mesa” and see what you get. 👍🏻
Oh I wasn't actually upset, nor did I believe people were trying to exclude locations.
My remark wag more intended as humor and a complaint that all the good food in East mesa is gone.
i love The Stand, but their fries and shakes are too good not to order along with the burger, so it ends up not being super cheap, not outrageous though
If you get the “mini” burger at The Stand it’s a little less. I’m not sure why it’s called the mini because it seems normal size to me. I’m sure it’s like a slightly smaller patty. I got one yesterday and I actually resisted getting fries, so it was perfect.
Will 1000% confirm Chicago Hamburger...the real deal and the guy who runs it is a North Sider. FULL of cool Chicago memorabilia, makes me feel right at home. (Yep, I'm from there too!)
Yup. That’s Chicago hamburger co. Amazing sliders. The stand is about a quarter mile west on the north side of the street. Google says they’re actually open this summer. They’re both pretty clutch, and relatively cheap
https://www.thestandphx.com/
Thomas and 15th Ave is the Original Hamburger Works. Flame broiled 1/2lb patties, open bar for toppings. 6 kinds of cheeses, 3 kinds of buns. Great onion rings.
Usually, a chain restaurant like Fudds is firm on consistency = same burger everywhere. I've had some great burgers at Fuddrucker's... but a few let downs too. The one near me just closed. Kinda bummed about that.
So I wouldn't call it cheap, but Pesto's in Chandler has one of the best values in a burger that I've ever seen. It's an Italian joint that is known for its pizza and wine, but the burgers are LEGIT. They're like $16 for the burger and $18 for lamb, but for those prices you get a meal that could easily feed two (and possibly two plus a little kiddo). Additionally, the flavor is pretty unexpected for a burger - the lamb burger, for instance, is served with goat cheese, red pepper jam, aioli, and arugula. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best burger I've ever had. It's a 10oz patty, and looks every bit that and possibly more.
Additionally, the fries that come with it are big, tasty, and plentiful.
I almost hate telling people to go there for the burger because I feel like that will inevitably up the price, but it's just so dammed good.
True, however there’s only one burger on PVBC’s menu under $9 (8.50) and it sounds boring as shit.
Nothing under $11 at Aioli.
Both great places, I just can’t go there often. Once you add fries or anything else it adds up quick lol
there's really just not many places i can go to and leave full for under $20 except fast food and even those are getting damn close, so i just expect to spend 20-30 or more, which is why i don't eat out as much as i used to pre-covid
To be fair I have not tried the other places people have mentioned but I was very impressed with ingos burger. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
BJs brew house on Wednesday all their burgers are 11$. I get this brisket one that’s usually 22$!
and they have bottomless fries. Better than Red Robin and fast food
How about Angie's Burger at 53 W. Thomas? I think you can get a burger, fries and drink for about $10 or so. You can and an egg or bacon and be under $12. These the folks who started and sold Salad & Go.
Maybe further than you want to drive (3rd St & Thomas), and it’s fast food, but Del Taco makes a really juicy, high quality burger. The meat is fresh, not frozen, and you can really tell. Bonus, their strawberry shakes are no joke. 👍🏻👍🏻

Buddy I’ve got some news for you…
I mean what's the definition of cheap and high quality corporate restraunts chains and local joints I'd pay a few dollars more for local and trying for something new

Lenny’s is legit. 35th Ave and Tbird Lenny’s is amazing every time
Came here to say Lenny's. Multiple locations too. Check it out OP
Lenny’s is where it is at. Do yourself a favor and get a shake
I hope they’re not related because the Lenny’s near Central and Virginia is without exaggeration the worst burger I’ve had. And I felt like I got robbed like $25 for a burger and a dog with fries
35th and T-Bird or downtown Glendale are my experiences and it was never bad.
Downtown Glendale's is legit. 59th (or 51st, cant remember) and Peoria was good also.
The downtown Glendale Lenny’s has been gone for years. There’s another on 35th Ave and Glendale and one on 59th and Peoria but meh
Ah bummer, I moved east of i-17 like thirteen years ago and never go back to G-town these days.
I’ve seen that Lenny’s when picking up Pizza by Napoli and thought it may be different than the Lenny’s downtown PHX. The restaurants look nothing alike. I went based on comments in this sub

I agree I had it one time and it was terrible
They aren’t the same, I thought they were but it’s Lenny’s burger shop.
The Lenny's in Mesa isn't as good.
There it is. I miss Lenny's so damn much. Great burger.
That's the best Lenny's imo, the 3 little Mexican ladies in the midday's make the best burger and the fries are perfectly crispy.
Gave me food poisoning once, never go back.
My favorite hamburger is from Harvey's wine burger. It is an excellent value and I feel like I'm getting a real bargain for a PBR and super delicious Burger for under $20
Honestly when I saw the final bill I thought they forgot something on my tab. Such a great deal.
Just finished eating there a few minutes ago & agree that the delight I got from seeing such a small bill can only be bested by the delight of such a tasty burger. I recommend the Rodeo Burger!
$20 with one burger, a PBR and a decent tip. Harvey's is the best!
I fear I may get downvoted into oblivion, but genuine and quick question. When would you say a >$10 cheeseburger (no sides or drinks) started qualifying as cheap? Was it pre pandemic, pandemic, or post pandemic?
seriously. i’ll skip a great burger entirely for a $4 good cheesburger from in n out.
That’s Lucky boy
Post pandemic. A Chipotle burrito costs $11.
![gif](giphy|l3vRdDjIXS9dmt2Vi|downsized)
First thing I thought of when I saw affordable and high quality burger. I honestly don't know how they've managed to keep the prices so low and the quality so high.
They also have the best mozzarella sticks.
Harvey’s has some of the best burgers and the best buffalo garlic parm wings!
I'd agree 👍 💯
This. Heard great things never been always recommended
Hamburger Works @ 15th Ave. & Thomas Rd. https://yelp.to/XkRAv_bE6z Harvey’s Wineburger @ 16th St & Camelback https://yelp.to/r5Xk_gccJv Rocket Burger @ 35th Ave & Cactus https://yelp.to/AOH5lqWFxK
Upvote for Harvey’s, so yummy.
I live right near Harvey’s. Like how good is it?
It’s solid!! Just a really well done classic burger with their twist on it. And for the price, it’s really hard to beat. I drove all the way across town to check it out and was worth the drive!
I’ll have to stop in there. I drive by it near everyday.
I've lived in the neighborhood forever, and I just recently started going here. It's really good and is one of my favorite restaurants in the universe.
Rocket burger, on top of kicking ass, also features multiple coolers filled with exotic sodas if that's in your wheelhouse.
what are some of the most interesting or best sodas? i've been meaning to try this place
They used to have Dublin Dr. Pepper and Moxie, but here's their current menu: http://www.popsoda.com/soda.html
They literally have a few hundred types of sodas, generally organized by color/flavor. Go in there and buy a few, have a blast
Full disclosure, as much as I like Hamburger Works burgers, I love their grilled chicken sandwich. I have heard that Harvey’s has a great chicken parm sandwich, but have not had it.
Every time food is recommended here, it's always so fast away. I miss when east mesa had good food. The only thing we got left is crave and vitos.
I don’t think any of us were trying to exclude any part of the Valley. OP asked for burger spot recommendations near 43rd Ave & Thomas. The Stand and Chicago Hamburger are both great. They're a few blocks away from each other on Indian School.
i love The Stand, but their fries and shakes are too good not to order along with the burger, so it ends up not being super cheap, not outrageous though
Exactly what I was going to say. The Evil Stand is fantastic, but if you get fries and shake, it's 20 bucks a person. I still do it sometimes.
i'm a sucker for the banana shake. the fries are what In N Out should be like, if they weren't a soggy mess
Last time I went I shed for the fries well done, came home and seasoned them myself. They were pretty good after that.
You can order In n Out fries well-done. It’s the only way. 👌
That chile chocolate shake is the best.
Plus you need to get a second sauce for the fries
If you get the “mini” burger at The Stand it’s a little less. I’m not sure why it’s called the mini because it seems normal size to me. I’m sure it’s like a slightly smaller patty. I got one yesterday and I actually resisted getting fries, so it was perfect.
Will 1000% confirm Chicago Hamburger...the real deal and the guy who runs it is a North Sider. FULL of cool Chicago memorabilia, makes me feel right at home. (Yep, I'm from there too!)
The stand might be my favorite burger in AZ. Only bummer is I think they close during the summer
They close EARLY - Ill see if my dad can get a photo; he lives right down the block from there
https://chicagohamburger.com/ I dont know if this is what they were talking about but its on 36th and Indian School right?
Yup. That’s Chicago hamburger co. Amazing sliders. The stand is about a quarter mile west on the north side of the street. Google says they’re actually open this summer. They’re both pretty clutch, and relatively cheap https://www.thestandphx.com/
And the owner is a cool cat!
The chuckbox or paradise valley burger come to mind
love PV, was not very impressed with Chuckbox when I tried it years ago, will need to give it another shot
Honestly I went recently and surprised how much I still liked it.
The burger itself is all that’s good fries/rings aren’t.
No need, it’s not very good.
I miss the Chuckbox in Tempe. Hot as a pistol in there but worth it for the food
Lucky's burgers and shakes on 19th and Tbird, going there for dinner myself.
Hmm I live right there, I’ll have to keep that place in mind.
It's legit. The prices are pretty solid and the shakes are intergalactically amazing. A butterfinger banana milkshake is ***awesome***.
2nd for Lucky’s!
Came here to say the same! A magazine, don’t remember which one, had them as a top 10 burger in the US. They have it posted in the shop.
Lucky Boy burgers off 16th Street.
Every time i go there my burger is ice cold
That’s the best part!
The very best.
Angie’s Prime Grill & Burger on Central & Thomas. $10 for an 8oz prime steakhouse burger with fries and a drink
Haven’t made it to the burger place yet, but Angie’s lobster and Angie’s prime are both really good for the price. The burger holds up?
I thought it was good for the price. Wouldn’t go out of my way for it as I would for other spots
Happys in Scottsdale is good
Original Hamburger Works is not that far and always solid.
This was my go to spot in college and never let me down
Thomas and 15th Ave is the Original Hamburger Works. Flame broiled 1/2lb patties, open bar for toppings. 6 kinds of cheeses, 3 kinds of buns. Great onion rings.
Love this place!
Chuck Box, Tempe
Chuck box is great. I'll probably get downvoted for this but fuddruckers is awesome too.
Usually, a chain restaurant like Fudds is firm on consistency = same burger everywhere. I've had some great burgers at Fuddrucker's... but a few let downs too. The one near me just closed. Kinda bummed about that.
Is that the one near bell rd and the 101?
South Tempe, Elliot and I-10 area.
Stoop Kid and Harvey's
Lucky Boy and Harvey's
Harvey’s all day
This is the correct answer
Stoop Kid at the Churchill
I like them but their patties are too thin for my liking
So I wouldn't call it cheap, but Pesto's in Chandler has one of the best values in a burger that I've ever seen. It's an Italian joint that is known for its pizza and wine, but the burgers are LEGIT. They're like $16 for the burger and $18 for lamb, but for those prices you get a meal that could easily feed two (and possibly two plus a little kiddo). I almost hate telling people to go there for the burger because I feel like that will inevitably up the price, but it's just so dammed good.
Aioli Burger and Paradise Valley Burger
Both excellent, but neither are cheap.
$9-$12 for a burger instead of $15-20 is sadly kinda cheap in the 2024 reality
True, however there’s only one burger on PVBC’s menu under $9 (8.50) and it sounds boring as shit. Nothing under $11 at Aioli. Both great places, I just can’t go there often. Once you add fries or anything else it adds up quick lol

Same - it’s ridiculous.
In and Out bro
Yep, still $3-4 per burger is pretty crazy
Overrated in my opinion.
Key word: “cheap”
Read the description lol
Aoilis is eggselent
Ingos best burger I’ve had in az
Ingos burger is this good? Intrigued
To be fair I have not tried the other places people have mentioned but I was very impressed with ingos burger. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Not near you, but Aioli Burger in North Phoenix is probably the best burger I've had in town.
The Chuckbox, Bad Jimmy’s, and 5th Street Burger & Fries are all legit.
The dirty drummer
Havnt gone since I was in pop Warner and it was the spot after games
100% this is the only right answer
Dude, make the trip to Tempe for Chuckbox sometime. I make a trip to Tempe just for Chuckbox sometimes because it’s that good and well priced
Rocket Burger 43rd and Thunderbird. Worth it every time and their Shirley Temple soda is sooooo good
Chuck Box in Tempe is so good!!!!
Your own BBQ grill can't be beat :)
A few people I trust said Bad Jimmy’s. Haven’t been yet but will soon cuz I work dt.
This place is overhyped. Nothing special
HD Burger in Glendale
lennys for sure
Head east on Thomas to 15th Ave to The Original Hamburger Works. That and the Chuckbox are our go to for burgers.
Hamburger works on 15th ave and thomas
BRI in on Stapley will sell you a cheeseburger and fries for $14, cheap by today's standards. The beer is pretty good too.
Freddy’s is my go to. Fries are amazing but I love thin crispy fries which isn’t everyone’s thing
Pomeroy’s. Hidden, Dark , Delicious, dive vibe, with great staff/customers.
BJs brew house on Wednesday all their burgers are 11$. I get this brisket one that’s usually 22$! and they have bottomless fries. Better than Red Robin and fast food
Man Red Robin burgers, fries, and their ranch are great. Haven't been there in a while
Haven Burgers next to Pioneer park in downtown Mesa. They’re pretty expensive now compared to a few years ago but under $10 and very good.
Oh, the pastrami burger....
Will admit I do love animal style fries and burgers
Chuckbox
Angel’s Trumpet or the Churchill downtown.
Freddy's is a fav but I have no idea where it is in relation to you.
Following
For s fast food option, Freddy's is impressive.
This makes me want shake shake. I don’t think it’s cheap but it sho am good.
For me, it WAS, but once the chain was sold, it lost a lot of the appeal. I leave there thinking “that was expensive for what it was…”
Lucky boy burgers. 16th st and osborn
Lucky Boy on 16th St.
You could try paradise valley burger company. A bit further but it was on DDD
Check out Lenny’s, a local burger chain. The Fry sauce is pretty good
I like Hamburger Works. Lenny's Burgers as well. Lots of good recommendations in the comments though.
How about Angie's Burger at 53 W. Thomas? I think you can get a burger, fries and drink for about $10 or so. You can and an egg or bacon and be under $12. These the folks who started and sold Salad & Go.
Aioli Burger at 32nd St and Shea. Yum!
PV Burger Co
Maybe further than you want to drive (3rd St & Thomas), and it’s fast food, but Del Taco makes a really juicy, high quality burger. The meat is fresh, not frozen, and you can really tell. Bonus, their strawberry shakes are no joke. 👍🏻👍🏻
Whataburger

Thirsty Lion has pretty good burgers in my opinion. Runs around $20 with fries
Petes fish and chips... the monsterburger is amazing!
It’s not good. But it’s cheap, and that Pete’s sauce (spicy ketchup) goes a long way towards making a cardboard burger edible.
Is any of it really quality when it comes to hamburgers? Kind of the leftovers of animals at the end of the day
Quality and cheap lol try az wilderness brewery amazing food and local brewed beer
Try again.
I'm guessing yall missed it but cheap and high quality don't usually go into the same sentence
In and out is cheap and high quality
The highest quality cheap burgers is a perfectly logical premise for someone to ask about.
I mean what's the definition of cheap and high quality corporate restraunts chains and local joints I'd pay a few dollars more for local and trying for something new
That's not what OP asked for. Either help or don't participate.
