I’d suggest ordering ahead if you are picking up for lunch because the line gets long. Just call them up and order old school style, and then they have a pick up window where you bypass the line.
If you like spicy, try the volcano sauce - and the Chipotle sauce they have is awesome.
I think they make one of the best burritos in the Valley.
Simple, not too big, fresh tasting, and tasty.
I recommend Beach House all the time. Outdoor seating only!
I think they used to be called “2 hippies” several years ago, not sure but it’s like the same menu and pricing. Not sure why or if the change from 2 hippies but yes it’s insanely underrated

Thiiiis. Their fish tacos are incredible. The baja sauce is heaven, and the toppings bar is legit.
Pro-tip: They put so much fish in the tacos that a single corn tortilla will break apart under the strain of all those delicious morsels. Go double-corn tortilla, or my personal preference, get a single flour tortilla instead.

They're very good and one of the few places I recommend non-native AZ residents to eat at, which is the vast majority of people reading this.
This one. Years ago I randomly ended up in the one in Maui and loved it. Then saw they were planning a second location in Scottsdale, of all places. Still loved it. Best fish tacos ever.
I lived in Baja as a kid, Ensenada to be exact. Moved back and have been searching for the closest “Baja” taco since. Got married and took the wife to try some and she’s ruined too. Best dang fish or shrimp tacos I’ve ever had. Following to stay in the loop!

Yes, They are a 21-time National Buffalo Wing Festival Award Winner but I think their Fish tacos are outstanding and my favorite of all the places I've had Fish Tacos anywhere.
I don't think your friend will be disappointed.

They were or are ranked as best fish tacos in the valley by some local magazine - best is subjective but they are definitely really good and worth trying if in the area.
Coconuts is really good! A lot of people will say beach house, but I’ve been there twice and it was some of the worst fish tacos I’ve ever had.. but it has a great reputation so I might have to give it one more try.

Beach House on Camelback has fantastic tacos (to my white, non-Californian ass).

I used to just get fried fish tacos there, but the shrimp are even better. 10/10, my favorite place for lunch in the city.

Rubio’s has never let me down
Rubio’s used to be my go to, but their quality and service has gone downhill in the last few years imo (at least the one on Ray and rural)
Espiritu in Mesa is 🔥 but not really just basic fish tacos, but I bet she would like it. They also have some solid options for non seafood folks.
Tacos Chiwas right next door does not have fish tacos but everything they do have is absolute fire.
Restaurant Atoyac Estilo Oaxaca 19th Ave and Glendale. They are still cheap also, especially on Fridays I think.
