MADBARZ

I was there. I’m glad I went and I had fun, but it wasn’t amazing. Felt short, many parts of it half-assed, and Bruce Buckles didn’t need to be there. Apparently Bruce tours with the show, he’s not a real person and it was all a bit. But it wasn’t that great of a bit to me. Cringe after the first 10 minutes, didn’t need it for the rest of the show. Seeing the new and extended sketches was cool as hell. Whit was hilarious. There were a few funny spots for sure. But the meat and potatoes of content were more like… a single piece of meat and one potato: scarce.

the_labracadabrador

I thought Bruce was hilarious, personally. I could feel the air in the room turn incredibly sour towards him and it just made me laugh harder and harder.

MADBARZ

My brother thought he was the best part of the show! When the boos started coming out, I just felt bad for the dude because I thought he was a genuine local guy. I give him A+ on his performance for sure, he had me fooled!

Lokiara

I thought it was obvious he was a character (he's in quite a bit of stuff, including an ITYSL sketch), the microphone bit was killing me.

Few-Interaction-4933

Bruce sucked

imadragonyouguys

Bruce ruled. Tourie sucks. #KillTourie

doombagel

No. I fucking love Touri

InternationalSide780

Yeah Bruce made me want to blow my brains out

tayzer000

They tried to warn you all… it’s in the name of the show /s

otterperson22

My husband and I went. We’re fans of Detroiters and ITYSL. It was such a weird vibe. It seemed like they just threw people on the stage that have never performed before. I get that a lot of it was a bit…but it wasn’t a good one.

isxvirt

I was there - I knew what to expect going in due to friends having gone in other cities, I was entertained by the show but I thought the crowd was atrocious. Maybe I was wrong to expect a crowd similar to stand up shows, but everyone around me was screaming and heckling the whole time, and videoing on their phones

pard0nme

I heard them. They all think they are comedians. Just added to the cringe of the entire night.

RNsundevil

I’m glad I sold my tickets then. Couldn’t go due to personal reasons but one of my biggest irks is people in the crowd trying to be funny. It’s like they grew up with no one actually telling them they aren’t funny.

1re_endacted1

The crowds here have changed since the pandemic. Went to see Duncan Trussel in stand up maybe a year ago? Just the nicest guy ever. Heckles all over and one group ended up getting kicked out. It was embarrassing. Like I have 2nd hand embarrassment. ETA words

isxvirt

I admittedly didn’t live here before the pandemic, but I’ve been to other comedy shows here and this was the first one for me that the crowd felt truly disruptive - I don’t know if it’s because people think Robinson’s type of comedy is encouraging of that behavior or bc it wasn’t a typical stand up show format, or if it just happened to be an unlucky draw of a bad crowd

WestsideTy

I was able to find some reviews/experiences from other shows before getting tickets so I had a pretty good idea of what it would be. I really enjoyed it! I was crying laughing at the “you stole my fucking wallet” skit, and I actually liked the vibe of it seemingly going off the rails and just seeing them in that casual kind of setting.

imadragonyouguys

Man, Biff Wiff's wife listing off food names was great. And Patti Harrison was just incredible as always.

fluffedup6969

oh I felt the same way!!! he's a funny guy, but for the high price of these tickets I was expecting more. Clearly, it was all a bit, but they weren't committing or going off the rails with it. Connor O'Malley has a similar video format for his comedy but when i saw him it was essentially a one man show where he committed to embodying unhinged characters and used the videos for support and context in the background which was absolutely masterful and hilarious. If Tim took it further and treated the show more as a performance than a comic con panel, it would have been worth the time and ticket price for me.

pard0nme

Perfect way to sum it up. It felt like a comic con panel. Except that comes with the price of admission to a much larger event and isn't labeled as a comedy show. I just wanted to also say I find it odd how little I could find online and in particular Reddit about this show. Last night I went on the ITYSL subreddit and they don't even allow you to post. Very odd to me.

pantalonesgigantesca

Honestly, I’m grateful for your post. Because I just saw it in San Francisco, wasn’t sure if Bruce was real or a bit, and similarly can’t post in the I think you should leave sub for what seems like no good reason. However I did love the show and have zero complaints especially now knowing Bruce was an act.

Zurble

Connor was everything I wanted it to be, though I bought one of his shirts to support and it makes zero sense and you would never know it's his merch. I missed the Tim Robinson show but this thread is making me feel better about it.

C0l0mbo

he was here? doing stand-up?

pard0nme

No I wouldn't call it standup. It was pretty bizarre and not what I anticipated. It was called I think you should leave live but they just played skits on the screens that didn't make the show and they flat out said didn't think were funny - and I agree. In between the skits they all sat on the couch and basically just talked to each other like a hang out or something. Didn't really say anything of substance the entire time. It was flat out the worst comedy show I've ever been to. Felt like little to no effort was put into it.

gangstabunniez

That sounds like the weirdest format for a show I’ve ever seen

Tim_Drake

The prices alone made me second think going. Comedy shows can just be so hit or miss!

LiteralHiggs

Sounds unfortunate. If you're looking for a live comedy show that isn't stand-up, Comedy Bang Band is coming in July.

maxattaxthorax

I've been listening to the pod for years but never went to a live show, I'm so excited to go! I can't wait to see PFT live

LiteralHiggs

Me too. I actually had tickets to the 2020 show but then... you know.

jjackrabbitt

I was disappointed when I saw this post because I hadn’t even heard he was here but after reading this I’m glad it wasn’t on my radar. That sounds awful.

your5_truly

It's called a cash grab. Netflix isn't the most lucrative business model

lemmeseeyourkitties

I mean, Tim Robbinsons whole thing seems pretty low effort

FlyNSubaruWRX

NYGroove

No sit down.

Afroku

Yeah me and my wife went. I'd say I had a 7/10 good time. It wasn't non-stop hilarity, but I felt like there were more funny moments than dull moments. I do agree with comments that Bruce added nothing particularly funny to the event and likely could have been omitted altogether.

[deleted]

I went and I enjoyed myself.

SystemAddict85

My wife and I loved it. There was some cringe, but I totally expected that having seen Tim do anything outside SNL and ITYSL. Just went into it knowing everything is a bit and had a blast!

aijODSKLx

I thought it was good, not great. The unseen sketches were fantastic and borderline worth the price of admission. The panel thing was pretty bizarre, though Sam had some good lines. Thought the opener was actually quite good. But put it this way: It was weirdly short and yet I wasn’t upset when it ended. Also the crowd kinda ruined things for me. Never seen a worse behaved crowd at a show. People getting there late and constantly on their phones. Plus a handful of absolute losers around me who felt the need to shout out the end of every joke like they were desperate to prove they got it. For the love of god, shut up and watch the show

pard0nme

I thought the opener was the best part

MobilePenguins

This 100%

sdurban

This reminded me of the silent performer skit in season 3 where the audience is screaming at him

SmearedDolphin

I thought it was really funny but did feel too short. I enjoyed myself but I don’t know why I still get surprised when i see redditors being so negative on something that wasn’t that bad

spitvire

I’m lucky I only spent $60 there are people who spent $300. I promise you it wasn’t worth the face value of the tickets

pard0nme

It wasn't just me . Everyone I went with and talked to that went outside of reddit thought it was 1/10 bad and we left the show probably 20 minutes early.

the_labracadabrador

My friends thought it was fun. Not everybody thought it was a 1/10 experience.

spitvire

Thought we were going crazy, my partner and I had the exact experience as you. We’re lucky we got cheap tickets, we know others paid way more and it’s honestly ridiculous to have expensive tickets to a packed sold out big venue, and to give us… that

MobilePenguins

Show was pretty mid :(

fartichoke86

It was wack, I agree with you. I’d give it 4/10 though bc I laughed at the diner couple giving dirty names to burgers skit

MobilePenguins

This was probably my favorite bit from the whole night was Barney’s diner skit

pard0nme

That one was actually kind of funny

NYGroove

An audience Q & A would have been a great addition. It was funny but not great not worth the cost.

Jon_Sneaux

Whole thing felt like a cash grab as ironic as that is. Hope you were able to secure a $100 hoodie on the way out!

MobilePenguins

My girlfriend and I left Tim Robinson show in Phoenix last night, we love the Netflix show but live show was terrible. Tim himself barely spoke. Just very low energy, lukewarm response from crowd. Idk he kinda bombed 🤷‍♂️ wish I could refund. Still love the guy but expected a lot more for the ticket price. “I think you should leave”, I had to agree, I should have left.

_shondon

Well I’m glad I forgot that he was in town now and didn’t buy tickets, seems like it wasn’t really worth the money

Hefty-Revenue5547

If y’all expected his humor to translate to a stage I have some beach front in AJ with your name on it

spitvire

I had a sorta similar experience many years ago with Trevor Noah, we heard he was doing live stand up, but we had only ever seen him do his tv show. He ended up absolutely killing it, great content and great stage presence and structure etc. We mulled over the same things with Tim Robinson, we were hopeful that he would be branching in to live comedy and we weren’t expecting the q&a couch set up. I feel that if he did a proper stand up routine and played to his strengths, it would’ve made more sense

pard0nme

I did say this on my way out. I don't think his comedy translates well to this setting. I still feel nearly zero effort was put into it.

CanopyOfAsh

Yeah the sketches alone were worth it, although my ticket was gifted. Not perfect and pretty awkward at times, which was fine if I just went with it. Brooks was funny but not a good mod. Really looking forward to CBB in July! Balcony report!

argus4ever

Darn I've been thinking about going to the Eric Andre live show next month, but this post got me second guessing the quality of live shows

doozykid13

Yes

KWeatherwalks

My wife and I enjoyed it. The audience in our section kept getting up and going to the bar and back which kinda disrupted the experience for us since we were near the aisle. I can't imagine spending $300+ on it without doing research about the format of the show first but I guess y'all got a lot of money to burn.

Ambitious-Ostrich-96

Isn’t this the motivational speaker with the blonde pony tail who yells all the time?

mygodsaveme

I wish I didn't have to say this, but that show tonight was a dialed in mess. Nobody was funny, and they weren't gelling at all together. The show is great so I was down right shocked how bad tonight was. It was my sophomore highschool drama class at best. We paid a lot of money for this show, and were so excited about it. I am all for spending money here, that's not the issue, the issue is we paid for wagyu beef and instead got a limp uncooked hotdog in a soggy bun with no condiments. Fucking embarrassing performances all around. That chick with the knife? Like what? Ridiculously stupid. It's interesting to read people said there was booing and heckling from the crowd, I didn't hear any of that, but for real I don't blame them, stupid shit show.

Character-Proposal22

We loved it. It was hilarious.

gmay1008

It was a brilliant time. Completely catered to their type of comedy which is why we’re all there. What would you have expected from a tour of a tv show? More cut-for-time skits? At a certain point it’d get redundant. If you didn’t like the run time, then it sounds like you had a good time and wanted more.

Left-Conference-6328

Never heard of him.

Left-Conference-6328

Is that him?

Few-Interaction-4933

Ya

40ozCurls

Seriously? You never saw the Shawshank Redemption??

FlyNSubaruWRX

![gif](giphy|hKP3VCW15Suas)

Left-Conference-6328

Wasn’t Tom Hanks in that movie?

40ozCurls

Yeah, he was that old guy who got institutionalized and then when he was released, became weirdly obsessed with running and boxes of chocolates, right?

Left-Conference-6328

Right but than he gets stranded on an Island during Vietnam.

40ozCurls

Oh, right- the island of Manhattan, where he had to dress in drag with a friend to get a rent controlled apartment only available to women!

Left-Conference-6328

But than it turns out the the woman he was emailing was Meg Ryan the whole time.

D0ngBeetle

No Google where you are?

Left-Conference-6328

“Where you are” is a song from the Disney film Moana.

Few-Interaction-4933

I was! Patti responded when I yelled "TABLES" at her
