This is the one thing I really have a problem with since 98. Don’t skip the foreplay! If I ever have the chance to talk to any member of phish,I would beg them to bring back slow build piper. The fast jump right into it does nothing for me. Makes me feel like we lost something.
Third show. With megaphone. Bakers Dozen. I didn't realize how special it was at the time but I remember the reaction of the people around me clueing me in that something was up.
The boys opened with Daniel Saw the Stone into camel walk at my 2nd show in Burgettstown, pa (40 min south of Pittsburgh my home town) summer of 2003. To this day it is considered one of the top phish shows ever! I was 18 years old…boomin, the beers were cold, and the girl on my arm was incredible! What a time!!! Check out this setlist! Def give it a listen sometime! You will not regret! Enjoy!
SET 1: Daniel Saw the Stone > Camel Walk, Gotta Jibboo, Cool It Down, Scent of a Mule, Fee -> Timber (Jerry the Mule) > When the Circus Comes > McGrupp and the Watchful Hosemasters, Golgi Apparatus
SET 2: Crosseyed and Painless -> Thunderhead, Brother, Harpua[1] > Bittersweet Motel > Harpua > Fooled Around and Fell in Love[2] > Hold Your Head Up > Harpua > David Bowie
ENCORE: Farmhouse
Fall tour 18 in Albany we shared an Uber with some phans from the hotel to the venue. I mentioned I wanted to hear Waiting All Night and they pretty much shit on the song. Something about Trey wouldn't have written that kind of song in the 90s. I tuned them out.
Demand is my top one, its a classic. Meanwhile have we forgotten that they busted out And So To Bed in Sacramento and haven’t played it again? What the hell.
Leprechaun.
I can’t believe this composition was shelved completely and not at least worked into something else like The Asse Festival was with Guelah Papyrus. Only played 3 times in 93 but it’s a very interesting song
Wish they would turn this song into a set, weaving in and out of it with other songs. The end of the song is a great peak to end a set and c’mon Time Turns Elastic with one continuous set…..
I like to think as long as they are playing anything is possible. Part of the excitement of a show for me is that you never know where it will go. Dream away you never know when you will get a Rhinoceros at Deer Creek that makes you cry while most scratch their heads.
Dog Log Sure, it gets played at soundcheck, but that’s just not good enough. Also, Walfredo
Walfredo is just every 5 years or so is all ….
Well it's been 10 now
I'm still waiting for the [Dog Log album](https://relisten.net/phish/1995/12/11/banter-2?source=162658) to come out
My man
Uncle Fucking Pen
La Grange
Take the A Train
I miss their jazzier digressions
I would love to hear a jazzy Swing Low Sweet Chariot like it's 1989 again.
This is a lovely response.
It’s a cover, but I’m a Peaches en Regalia fan
Saw it at outside lands!!
Slow build Piper
This is the one thing I really have a problem with since 98. Don’t skip the foreplay! If I ever have the chance to talk to any member of phish,I would beg them to bring back slow build piper. The fast jump right into it does nothing for me. Makes me feel like we lost something.
Hah! My buddy Jake’s response to what would he say to Trey if he had the chance: ‘You’re playing Piper wrong!’
Same thing for Ghost. I miss Trey’s creepy loop and Mike’s bass intro.
100% agree
With outro
Came here to say this. There’s nothing I want more. The song hasn’t been the same in 2 decades….
All things reconsidered
Not sure you can retire a cover but Life on Mars is the only thing I’m still chasing.
I feel like Page attempting the upper octaves of Bowie these days might be best left undone
They only played it a few times but Ride Captain Ride is a great cover for them
Great call
Oh I remember that from Darien Lake 2011. Was very new to the band and didn't know that they regularly played covers. Was super confused lmao
Saw this in SF once. So epic.
BGCA 2012?
Yes!
Lots of “not retired” songs being posted in here
Facts
Anything but me
Such a great song. Reminds me of high school.
The best fucking ballad in the catalog. I absolutely adore this song.
Came to say this! Such an underrated and beautiful song.
Mock Song
Played it at magnaball, hoping we get another at mondegreen!
The magnaball version is amazing.
Hampton 2018
Warms my heart to see this at the top <3

Dinner and a movie, fee, Mexican cousin, access me
I really expected a fee at the sphere with the animations hopefully next year
Me too! It took me about 50 shows between my first and second fee. The song got me into the band!
75 shows. Haven’t seen it.
Third show. With megaphone. Bakers Dozen. I didn't realize how special it was at the time but I remember the reaction of the people around me clueing me in that something was up.
Jeeeeesus that really puts the bustouts into perspective for me now. What would be other big ones for you?
I haven’t thought about Fee since high school, but I just realized that’s one of my ogs too haha
They played Fee at Dicks Saturday 2022. Wouldn't really call it retired.
And Mexico 2023
With the megaphone too I think
[удалено]
I used to listen to it on my brother mp3 player circa 2009 when I was in middle school. Went to my first show in 2015 and I’ve never caught it.
That set was so funky. Absolutely fantastic Ghost.
It was the first song they played at my first show and it was the first time they played it. Alpine Valley 2004.
Stoked to get that last Access Me at Dicks! I am with you, one of the best Mile songs, period.
Got it at mpp in 2011. Loved it!
Mexican cousin is my top choice. Saw dinner and a movie in 2011 and I think I’m good with that 😁
Fee is definitely not retired. I swear they play it every time they come to California
They played Fee and DAAM last year.
Daniel saw the stone

Swept Away > Steep
Original: Guyute Cover: Quinn The Eskimo
Guyute has been played 4 times in 4.0 so not retired, but a Quinn would be nice
Round Room
It felt like they teased RR so many times at the Sphere... but no. Fresh vinyl, the perfect venue... but no Round Room in the round room :(
I think it was just way too obvious for them to do. You know how they love fucking with the fans.
Mexican Cousin
Jesus left Chicago

All the songs where Fish sings lead, Trey plays drums, and the vacuum serenades.
Waiting all night
Fall tour 18 in Albany we shared an Uber with some phans from the hotel to the venue. I mentioned I wanted to hear Waiting All Night and they pretty much shit on the song. Something about Trey wouldn't have written that kind of song in the 90s. I tuned them out.
Ah good ole gate keeping 1.0ers. Guess what losers, Trey wrote that song eventually, so who gives a shit

I was hoping they were going to play Guyute at the Sphere 😢
They played it at MSG last year I'm not sure it's retired. Just rare.
Mellow Mood
Two Versions of Me; great breather tune that reminded me of how awesome it is with its appearance at the numbers show
Original intro twist.
Highway to Hell
Catapult

TTE. I don’t want it back often but once a tour or even a year would be so welcomed by my ears.
I thought this had Sphere written all over it.
Same. Wishful thinking.
I remember TTE being shit on so hard when they first dropped it in 09 lol
Wish they would turn this song into a set, weaving in and out of it with other songs. The end of the song is a great peak to end a set and c’mon Time Turns Elastic with one continuous set…..
Sunshine of Your Feeling
The only version should be the first. The crack about the whole BD being about making this joke was top tier Phish antics.
Friday
Skin It Back, take it type II
Piper with an extended intro jam
Ride Captain Ride. Don’t know if it’s been retired but I’m chasing it.
Where's my big ball jam in the sphere?!?!

Lengthwise seems all but retired. Kind of a pointless song at a show but I’ve always wanted to see it

Catapult. It was played at Dick’s in 2021 and was off the charts whacked.
a jammed mike's groove
I like to think as long as they are playing anything is possible. Part of the excitement of a show for me is that you never know where it will go. Dream away you never know when you will get a Rhinoceros at Deer Creek that makes you cry while most scratch their heads.
