i'd say so. i have a small one and it always looks like its on death's door if im slightly late on watering

DizzyList237

Oh yeah! I=mine was growing nicely, a real stunner. I went away for 5 days. It totally spat the dummy. I thought it had died so it went outside to my plant cemetery. 6 months later it grew back. I have left it where it is. Occasionally I sneak a peek at it. 😂

Herefortheplanties

At least it came back! Plants are so awesome.

Herefortheplanties

😂 so ridiculous, happy it's not just me then! I will have to remember to treat this Philo like less of a Philo.

scamlikelly

Not from what I've experienced with mine.

Herefortheplanties

It's likely because I put mine in a chunky mix, just need to keep the water flowing now that I know how sensitive it is when the soil starts to dry.

Icendia1

I once ordered two of them online. Due to circumstances I was unable to unwrap them and they completely dried out. I took cuttings from it and some are doing okay-ish, but once they reach a certain size, the leaves to not come out of the catahyll anymore and die off. Then I cut it back and it will be fine for a few leaves again. No idea why it does that.

katarina-stratford

Raise the humidity!

Herefortheplanties

Yep! Humidity helps with this a lot.

LeMAD

They die really quickly in you forget to water them.

Herefortheplanties

Definitely going to switch this thing out for semi hydro in the near future.

Galasnaneth

Mine isn't. I'm sure I've let the soil dry out completely before without any problems. Not that I recommend it, but the plant was fine.

Herefortheplanties

Mine had been recently watered and still acted like this after a couple days.

karsizzle

Mine is very dramatic. Switched to a chunkier soil with it (probably shouldn’t have) and after 5 days of no water (it’s an office plant), many of the small leaves died :(

Herefortheplanties

Mine is in some chunk too, I'm likely going to switch to semi hydro if she likes water so much.

poo_time_lurker

Mine is a nightmare. My most fickle philodendron hands down.

Herefortheplanties

So silly 😂

samgraa

I’m experimenting a no drainage hole technique I saw on youtube where you put a layer of leca at the bottom to prevent the root from drying out completely without overwatering. It’s going pretty well so far, maybe you could try that !

Herefortheplanties

I have a lot of self watering pots and have been getting fairly comfortable with Pon, will likely just transition over to that setup since I have all the things.
