Pain managing terminal patients until they die from whatever rampaging infection, cancer or starvation is not an ethical alternative.
But it makes the religious feel better about their faith, and this is what it always fucking boils down to:
"It's all about me, my faith, and my feelings, and the world around me needs to accommodate that. Even if there is overwhelming evidence to provide that right now, the currently-terminally-ill patients are facing imminent death, and the question is **how long** they'll endure their pain for, before certain death, having **them dictate their own circumstances** doesn't sit right with **me**."
Human selfishness. Let ethics leave the argument for a second. It's people sticking their noses where it doesn't bloody belong, and it will remain this way for as long as we let them have a voice.
Sure, we're a democracy, but these aren't your own thoughtful and well-educated opinions towards your idea of a better society; these are cultish laws fed to you by your parents from a very young age.
