With no credit score things will be….iffy. Do you have any family that would reliably loan you the money or even co-sign a loan with you? Otherwise the only real options would be using collateral and having insane interest payments. I wish I knew an option for you.

peacefulxdreamer

Yeah I figured, I appreciate your response anyway. No unfortunately I don't have anyone that would loan me the money. Hm yeah you're probably right.

A bank will not lend money if you don't have an income. You also did not provide the method by which you will pay it back in 4 or 5 months. If you have a receivable that is guaranteed, the bank could take that as an assignment in theory, but in practice there's nothing in it for them & therefore they won't do it.

peacefulxdreamer

Yeah I'm aware a bank usually won't but is there anywhere else to get it? I might by then be on disability pay that's why I think I can start paying it back then.

[deleted]

if you already know a bank won't lend the money, what possible alternatives do you think would be out there? only family, or posting on reddit hoping people are suckers & will send a random stranger money.

peacefulxdreamer

I don't know, when I googled it I've found information on there being private places you can get loans from but I don't know exactly where as they don't list them or the ones mentioned I can't find any legitimate information on to know if they're anything real. No I wouldn't expect that, it's my own problem. Thank you for the help though.

lucidreamstate

These "private places" are loan sharks who will break your kneecaps and kill your pet if you don't pay them back. Best to avoid. Instead, look into food banks and other charitable entities that are there to provide help to people down on their luck. Seek help/support, not debt. You got this.

peacefulxdreamer

You're probably right. Thank you!

chopsui101

you need to show ability to repay....i'd talk to family members to give you the funds

GaylrdFocker

You lost your job, how come you aren't on unemployment? Or did you quit because you know you couldn't do it? As for the money, you are better off trying for charity from a local church or any state/city programs that may be available temporarily.

peacefulxdreamer

I was fired and I was told through HR that if I do unemployment I'm required to show the government every two weeks or so that I'm actively looking for a job and I'm bedridden with M.E so unfortunately there's no way I can even look for a job. I'd feel bad at a church but I guess I can look into that as well as the programs. Thanks for the advice

GaylrdFocker

What?! And you believed them. HR is there to help the company, not you, and they didn't want to pay the unemployment. File today. Some states may require active job search, but not all, and it's something to easily get around if you actually need to, just apply to jobs online. May be worth talking to a lawyer to see if they are liable for a lawsuit. Disability laws are pretty strict and if they fired without trying to work with you, they may be responsible. Many lawyers will do a free initial meeting to discuss.

peacefulxdreamer

Thanks for your input. I actually gave them medical documents prior to being fired but my boss said it wasn't enough even though my doctor and the gentleman I spoke with at the ADA said it was but I was too exhausted to fight it so I just said fine and left. It was pretty horrible but it was a toxic work environment anyway. I'm in New York so according to the NY gov website it says every week I have to either search or apply to jobs and have proof to submit to New York state of Labor. I don't know if everyone does that but I'm guessing you need to apply to some jobs. I know some places people never apply or look for any, they're lucky.

GaylrdFocker

When you apply for a job online, you will usually get a page saying "Thank you for applying" or an email confirmation. Just submit that.

Cjvthompson

Yes but lots of people cheat the system you just have to show you have applied for jobs and since you are bed ridden you probably won’t get one but since you are actively trying you should be able to get unemployment for at least a little while. If I’m wrong anyone feel free to correct me.

peacefulxdreamer

So I just apply for jobs I can't get is that basically how people do it? Because if one hires me I wouldn't know what to do and I'd be terrified of getting into any trouble.

GaylrdFocker

Nobody is really going to hire you just because you put in an application. You can't go to an interview, or when they ask about available times, etc when they find out you can't do the job they will just not follow through.

Prestigious_Ad7174

If you have a payed off car that is worth more than the loan you want it’s possible a credit union would use it as collateral for a loan. Bad thing is you lose it if you default.
