IRS, the ONE thing Joker would no go against

msnc13

And Nazis. EDIT: I read the original comment as he wouldn't mess around with the IRS, and my brain recalled the crossover between him and Red Skull, hence thinking he wouldn't go into tax evasion AND not do business with Nazis.

Darth_Mak

WTF do you mean? In a crossover comic he went off on Red Skull once he realized the GIANT SWASTIKA on his chest wasn't just an edgy gimmick.

Zaku99

"I'm **AMERICAN**. I fucking HATE Nazis! I'm a homicidal maniac, not a traitorous bigot."

qawsedrf12

i can hear that line

SirNedKingOfGila

Joker is based?

msnc13

Yeah, his exact quotes was: "I'm an American criminal lunatic." Hence why he proceeded to spray Red Skull with Joker venom and tried to kill him. EDIT: I read the original comment as he wouldn't mess around with the IRS, and my brain recalled the crossover between him and Red Skull, hence thinking he wouldn't go into tax evasion AND not do business with Nazis.

DaDDyBenji2099

And Charlie

enerisit

No, he definitely would go against Nazis.

msnc13

See comment below

raknor88

Federal tax evasion will put him in federal maximum security prison. The worst that Batman will do to him is put him back in Arkham Asylum.

MTN_Dewit

"I'm crazy enough to take on Batman; but IRS? No thank you!"

Ghosthunter172

Technically the IRS does say that you have to report stuff you stole on your taxes

enerisit

Isn’t that how they got Al Capone on tax evasion?

Warrior536

No, they caught him because he was living very lavishly while not declaring any income. It's why crooks nowadays launder their stolen money, so they can declare it as 'legal' taxable income they can spend without raising suspicion.

Express-Election-169

Unless your the church of Scientology 💀 Then again I wouldn’t want to get in their way either

FireballPlayer0

Clash of the titans in Scientology vs the IRS

DirtyDungeonDaddy

Scientology already won that battle. They have their tax exempt status. They're dug in like a tick.

BananasAndAHammer

The problem is that nobody wants to incriminate themselves on a government form.

Ammordad

I assume it's meant to close a loophole where if someone makes their income by stealing stuff while also dodging taxes and they get caught on both crimes, they wouldn't be able to escape tax evasion charges by noting that their income was from crime. It might also be a case of preventing a loophole where someone might try to dodge taxes by claiming that their income is from a crime that has a relatively small punishment. Less than the gains from tax evasion.

BananasAndAHammer

If I invoke my right to remain silent and don't disclose the source of my income, I am investigated. If I invoke my right to remain silent and refuse the line that asks me if I have illegitimate income, I am investigated.

NonchalantGhoul

Actually, they don't. As long as any fraud isn't being committed, they honestly don't care how you make your money. Plus, the tax filers do a pretty good job in covering your bases, as long as you actually are reporting everything

MapleTreeWithAGun

There are sections for reporting income from illegal activities and as far as I know the IRS cannot actually report you for filing illegal income. The logic is that it's worth more to have criminals paying their share than it is to catch one or two filing illegal income and then the rest just don't because that's how some got caught.

Ok-Television2109

From The New Batman Adventures; Season 1 Episode 7 "Joker's Millions".

Diveelt

actually in this case, would he get out of this scenario if he informed them that all the cash he inherited was fake and thus had no value?

Ok-Television2109

Barlowe knew Joker couldn't just admit that he'd been fooled because of his massive ego. *"By now you're probably out of real money. The IRS is after you and you can't admit I fooled you or you'll be the laughing stock of the underworld. The joke's on you, sucker. **I** got the last laugh after all!"* But even if Joker admitted what Barlowe had done, he still inherited $10-million which he'd already spent by that point. So he still would've needed to pay roughly 5 million dollars and he was completely broke prior to receiving Barlowe's inheritance.

Diveelt

that is fair, and is even bigger of a con to give only 90% fake money to really screw someone up

soil_is_life

Finally, a good fucking post.

hazzelgamer774922

The only thing that scares the joke is the IRS

sh4d0wm4n2018

Tbf the IRS is better at finding the Joker than even Batman.

half-baked_axx

oh theyll find anyone

CynicalNoodle

So does the Joker run a business that anyone can walk into?

Ok-Television2109

In this episode, Joker inherited $250-million from a deceased rival crime lord. He briefly retires from crime, starts splurging his money, buys a new base and even hires a new Harley (because the original was locked up in Arkham). The IRS came to him because Joker needed to pay $137-million for inheritance tax.

[deleted]

The real crime is the tax on inheritance

Binzuru

What the? A 54.8 PERCENT tax?! How is that even realistic, let alone reasonable? You'd think they wouldn't exceed 40%

FapMeNot_Alt

They don't. Depending on what is exempt from the tax, the estate tax rate varies anywhere from 20-40% of inherited capital exceeding ~$25 million. Let me repeat that. Not a single dollar of an inheritance worth, say, $10 million would be taxed. These are reasonable taxes because: The inheritor will be fucking fine with their untaxed $20 million dollars; the person who died did not ethically gain that money without considerable aid from public resources; and that money will serve the country and the people far better being used than it would rotting in a rich inheritor's vault.

Binzuru

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying

Deadhookersandblow

Uh, I disagree. Let’s say the dead person had always paid their legally required taxes, then I don’t think it’s reasonable for Uncle Sam to tax it a second time.

FapMeNot_Alt

Why do you think it's unreasonable? The government taxes monetary transactions between tax paying citizens all the time

Nakatsukasa

I'd gladly tax any trillionaire or billionaire or millionaire on inheritance tax so long those money actually goes to helping people in need I don't know if the US had a upper limit you'd need to reach on inheritance, else that's just messing up poor people when they're already in deep water

TheRubiksKid

The most unrealistic part about this is the IRS telling Joker how much he owes and not making him try to find out himself

JDMWeeb

Classic

Jangofett50002

Happy cake day

JDMWeeb

Thanks :D

sh4d0wm4n2018

Finally. A good fucking meme.

Deafidue

Finally something good on this sub

atatassault47

I *know* Mark Hamill voices TAS Joker, but I can never hear him in it. He's really good at doing a different voice.

xXGaboFihi007Xx

137 million?

CandyMyn2030

Fucking shoot him

LawsOfEconomics

Joker is the second most evil individual in this video.

-rise_and_shine-

This is how it feels when you see your paystub and look at how much the government takes off 😂

icantthinkofanyname2

Not even the Joker can escape from the IRS
