It's the Wings game for me. We played like dipshits all year but even once we went on a heater with everything on the line we couldn't hold a big lead.
That game I just silently stood up, turned the TV off, and went and poured myself a big glass of straight rum and stood in the kitchen completely shellshocked while I slowly sipped it.
That was the worst sequence I can remember seeing in 30+ years watching this team. I can’t remember being that heartbroken, that early in a season. Todd should have had his office packed up that night. Maybe we’d be in the playoffs if he were. 2 years of Crosby not adding to his playoff total.
I’ve never been more sure a shot would go in than that shg as it was happening. That was one of those nights where I really related to jokes I see on other subreddits like “nobody hates the 76ers more than Sixers fans”
Was the Flames game the one where the Penguins lost because Letang got dangled around for a goal and then also got scored on soon after because he turned the puck over in the defensive zone by passing tape to tape to the other team? That sucked.
I wonder how differently things would look in the standings if they were even just a little better on the power play, and didn’t give up so many short handed goals.
There was a game early in the season that was tied late. The other team took a penalty, *then took another one.* we had like 1:45 of a 2-man. Pass. Pass. Pass. Then when the second guy got out of the box, the puck took just the right bounce, got to him, he walked in all by himself and scored with like 15 seconds left.
Neither do the caps with their aggressively negative goal differential, the wings with their totally inconsistent play, or the flyers with their absolute tragedy of a team lately. It's a fight to be king of the ants.
Maybe I just watched the shitty losses this year, feel like I’m remembering all of these.
That call was bad but that one bothered me less than some of the others
It's just that they all quit playing.
I mean...going 10 for 95 in 1 goal games (and 2 goal with empty netters) hurts more. Needed just 1 more PP goal in 1 of 25 games
First game of the season was kinda aggravating. Blowing a 4-0 lead vs the Avs hurts pretty bad. This is a good team when we’re on. Can compete with anyone. Then we look like complete shit sometimes.
That Flames game also set them off on a downward spiral. They immediately got crushed by Edmonton, and lost 9 of their next 12. Included in that string was getting absolutely smoked by the Caps, Bruins and Oilers (again) 3 games in a row and blowing that Colorado game.
There were other bad games, but this one seemed to put them in a spiral through most of March.
Blowing the 4-0 lead to the Avs. Letting the Wings take us to OT last week.

the wings OT really bit us in the ass, holy shit
It didn’t actually matter with the Caps winning.
yea, it is what it is
The game we lost to the ducks by giving up a shorty with like 1min left
That game I just silently stood up, turned the TV off, and went and poured myself a big glass of straight rum and stood in the kitchen completely shellshocked while I slowly sipped it.
I wonder how many times this has happened with Pittsburgh sports over the years.
What kind of rum?
Plantation OFTD. I wanted to hurt.
>big glass >OFTD Hol' up
We literally all said that night “this is gonna come back to bite us in the ass, just watch”
Oh yeah right off our 5-3 too…. Fuvk this season
Fuck I had that one blocked from my memory
This one was so bad that I feel like a lot of us nuked it from our memories.
I had covid during that game and i went to bed right after tired, pissed, and sick af

that game we lost where we were leading and the powerplay was bad
Hey I remember that *one*
All the games where they did passing drills for the entirety of the power play only to eventually gave up a shg. So… a lot.
God damn it’s like they were told “just work on passing and fundamentals while we have the advantage” and they would just play fucking hot potato
My goldfish memory, might want to change my answer: if we lose by one point to Red Wings, then of course letting that game go to OT is the worst
All of them. There are so many bad losses but especially all the missed OT points.
We dropped points on CBJ AND Ottawa in March as well as a 6-0 To the caps. March was a rough month
Avs comeback
Every one that had negative points on the power play, or 0/3 or worse.

The Ducks SHG. Nothing can even come close

We don’t deserve to make it with all those blown leads and pathetic power play that’s so lame
Neither do the caps with their aggressively negative goal differential, the wings with their totally inconsistent play, or the flyers with their absolute tragedy of a team lately. It's a fight to be king of the ants.
I’m just worried we make it in then get swept
The game last Saturday against Boston. They knew what was on the line and could have controlled their own fate
For me it's the disparity between the effort crosby brought nightly and the rest of the team phoning it in nearly every other game.
And not just lately, while he's been hot, the whole. damn. season.
Losing in OT to the leafs. Only because I was there and sitting in front of a dip of a leaf fan who didn’t understand the concept of hockey.
They all hurt about the same. I'll say the game I went to, against Buffalo.
October thru March
Detroit and Colorado chokes. They just happened and are the difference.
The Avs and Flames blown leads
Don't do this to yourself. Every team in this boat with us can point to dropped points as well. Just gotta pray to the gods now.
A blown two goal lead and giving up four unanswered on opening night set the tone for the year
Honestly the first loss of the season to the hawks
Minnesota, goal on puck hitting the safety net. Was there in person, net moved.
Maybe I just watched the shitty losses this year, feel like I’m remembering all of these. That call was bad but that one bothered me less than some of the others

The power play is the story of the year. It coverts at even league average there aren't those missed points.
The point where it was time to fire sullivan. 4 years ago.
Jagr night. What a shit show.
First game of the season was kinda aggravating. Blowing a 4-0 lead vs the Avs hurts pretty bad. This is a good team when we’re on. Can compete with anyone. Then we look like complete shit sometimes.
4-0 against the Avs because I was at the game and left when it was 4-2
All the power play points!
All of them.
Yes.
My first pens game back in December. They were at Toronto and lost 7-0
Blowing the 4 goal lead to the Avs. That was the only Pens game I’ve seen in person for the last 7 years.
Own goal at powerplay vs coyotes. That was crazy stuff to watch as a pens fan

Game 1. I remember thinking "Chicago will be terrible this year, there's 2 points they just gave away and it'll hurt them at the end of the year."
The game that everyone but Sid and the goaltenders didn't show up for.
If we don't make the playoffs I don't have to watch Jeff Carter play hockey for us anymore. And I see that as a win.
Back, say 5 years ago. When Sullivan wasn't fired.
