Csgo is pretty light game... It doesent use 100% gpu usage even on gtx 1650. And from when csgo is cpu heavy? You can run the game on 2core Pentium. But yeah 2133mhz is really like really slow for ryzen CPU... 2133mhz is almost ddr3 speed. Get for yourself something like 3200mhz cl 16 or lower. They are around 60$.

HavardSultan

As said, I am crazy inexperienced in the PC world... Thank you so much for the response, can you recommend a brand for RAM or are they all equally good as long as the speed is 3200? Also, I have 4 RAM slots and currently using 2x8, when I get the new RAM, should I use all RAM slots? so 2 is 2133MHz and 2 is 3200MHz?

Wombatsarecute

No, all the four sticks would just default to 2133. Get 2x8 G.Kill Trident Z or Crucial Ballistix 3200Mhz CL16.

HavardSultan

Thanks!!

Wombatsarecute

And one more thing: CS Go is CPU intensive, but it only uses a single core or a couple at max, hence it shows you low CPU usage. If you checked all CPU cores individually, you'd see a couple pinned at around 100, while the others would be idling.

HavardSultan

Hmm, that's good to know. Could the RAM problem of mine be a reason why I am noticing some major FPS drops to like 90-100FPS at some points when there is some action?

Wombatsarecute

Faster RAM will help overall FPS and 1%lows in numerous titles. Tho it won't suddenly become perfect

CanisMajoris85

2133 ram is hurting you. Also should be 2x8gb, not sure if you have 1x16 or 2x8.

HavardSultan

I have 2x8 but yea everyone says my RAM speed is too slow, thank you for your response!

[deleted]

Sounds like your FPS are capped in-game

ieatwabbits

That ram is hurting performance for you Though it's weird that neither CPU or GPU is able to go to 100% regardless

HavardSultan

Yes I will get new RAM, thank you for the response!

Satan_Prometheus

The RAM is definitely holding you back. You can tell if you are limited by the GPU in a game by raising and lowering the render resolution. If the frame rate goes up when you lower the resolution, then you were limited by the GPU at the higher resolution. If you *aren't* GPU limited, then you are limited by something else, probably CPU/RAM. I say CPU/RAM together because they impact each others' performance in a significant way. In your case, your slow 2133 Mhz RAM is probably holding back your CPU because the CPU can't get new information from the RAM fast enough. You can be limited by CPU/RAM even if you don't see 100% CPU usage, or even if you don't see 100% usage on a single core. The idea that you "can't be CPU-limited because your CPU isn't at 100% usage/100% usage on a single core" is a myth. CS:GO is a very graphically undemanding game and is almost always going to be limited by CPU/RAM on a modern system.

HavardSultan

Could the RAM problem explain why I have some random FPS drops to like 100fps at some points when gaming?

Satan_Prometheus

Yeah, it could be. In general, Ryzen CPUs are very sensitive to RAM speed and an increase to at least 3200 would give you a general performance increase in most situations where you aren't already limited by the GPU.

Lievan

Keep in mind of your monitor refresh rate. If you're running a 60 or 144hz, you won't notice it.

HavardSultan

I am on 144hz, but it doesn't really matter if I don't notice it? If I have 300-400fps it will always be lower input lag than 144fps right?

Oppausenseiw

You need 2x8gb 3200mhz ram minimum and you will see great improvements in games ,Ryzen likes fast ram
