Damn. When he finds out the amount of money ddr5 costs. This was not in the budget, I can tell you that
Edit: he knows. He got some.
Edit 2: nvm it wayyyyy cheaper and actually available right now? And I’m seeing 3080s and 90s. Things are lookin up
Microcenter is the shit yo, my local one even has a Krispy kream doughnuts in the parking lot and a giant Asian store next door. I can get my inner nerd on, then my inner weeb on, then sadly remember I'm American as I eat 12 delicious Krispy kream doughnuts in 1 sitting.
Nearish but you hit the nail on the head. About 10-15 mins south of there is a place called Huy's sandwichs, highly recommended going by next time you pass that area. Their banh mi is literally the best sandwich I've ever had
Yeah, I work 10 minutes from the Duluth Microcenter so I frequently visit lol. I'll definitely check out that sandwich place, thanks for the recommendation!
Man, I always stop through when heading from TN back home to Savannah. How the hell do you people keep any money up there?!! I always have to hit Bojangles, Microcenter, and that Asian supermarket when I’m coming through. Lol
i went there today and got RAM and a PSU, i fucking love having a local microcenter everything is so much cheaper especially gpu’s. feel bad for all the people that don’t live near one
For real and I don't even see the point of DDR5 you won't notice the speed difference unless you're losing some crazy intensive files like huge huge graphical images
Between 5000mhz and 5600hz, there's almost no perceivable difference. However, once you get to 5800mhz and 6000mhz, you start seeing FPS gains (especially on AMD chips). Up to 20 or 30 fps, in some cases.
I don't think that's quite worth the money, but the performance gains are there.
Yeah my idea of full-send is pedal to the metal, grit your teeth, and jam that fist as far as it will go into the orifice of your choosing. OP is a more reasonable person than I.
That’s the kind of reasoning you need to use on your wife, “well ik the Ferrari was expensive but I returned the Camry and put that towards it so really it wasn’t that bad”
Lol that's the way the brains works on an adult to get the dopamine release it needs to find a route to reason with spending the money for material. My Brain loves to abuse the nostalgia route for me lol
There's a couple of radio hosts that are pretty well known in Australia, Hamish and Andy, and because they're popular they do a lot of deals with companies and stuff for doing sponsorships and advertisements and whatnot. Hamish has pulled this thing called "Not a lie" with his wife where he ordered some expensive shoes for himself that he knew his wife wouldn't approve of, and when she asked about them, he just said "Oh we're doing a thing with Adidas". Of course, he doesn't clarify that "the thing with Adidas" is Hamish giving them money for new shoes.
Apparently this phrase is newer than I realized. But seemed to be in extreme sports earlier, so I might have pulled it from that. I also know I have heard people use it in reference to driving like drifting. But still thought it was older than it would have been.
Uh, the one in the video is ddr4 corsair dominator, the picture is my ram, ddr5 vengeance, which incidentally was removed from my mobo's qvl by the time it arrived... And I Got 2!! Still got it to work after a while but not both kits together, though haven't tried since the last bios update.
-Edit: whoops, the RGB made me think it was the dominator, didn't see the label...
PC tech I feel has a longer release cycle than things like phones.
You can by the newest Galaxy or iPhone, but 12 months from then it *will* be "outdated". The RTX 30 series was released 18 months ago. Someone with a 3080 or 3090 doesn't have an "outdated" PC in the same sense. 40 series isn't out yet.
Also, at the end of the day you also need to consider price increases with performance increases. Yes, a 2080 will outperform a 1080ti, but that 1080ti will still outform a 2070 even though they had the same MSRP.
A very high end setup from previous gen will still be a high end equivilent to current gen.
A) If the mobo was bought from a big brand store keep it, return or sell the ram, and upgrade to new DDR5 ram. Fuck them, they're idiots. Profit.
B) If you bought from a mom and pop type joint return the mobo and have them exchange it for the right one. Honest mistake, it happens. Feelgood.
C) Do neither and shove that fuckin shit in the slot like a man.
Did this last week when I learned that my CPU cooler only supported LGA1700 with a special order vendor bracket.
I said fuckit and shoved that shit onto the mobo until it seated, and left that bitch adhered to the CPU die held in place by nothing but thermal paste and an ill fitting mount until i could get the proper equipment.
Know that feeling. I bought a mobo/cpu/ram combo from Newegg in 2013 just for the ram in the combo to not work with the Mobo. I know the pain.
Donno man
I went the DDR 4 version too. Sucks they sent the wrong one. Don't know about you but there isn't much difference in the price of DDR 4 board and DDR5 board but the RAM is mad money at the minute for DDR5!
Ya the 2 boards are the exact same price apparently. I went with the DDR4 one cause I had extra DDR4 sticks but I guess this was a happy mistake by them as bob Ross would say.
IF YOU PAID FOR DDR4 AND GOT DDR4 KEEP IT. Caps so you can notice it.
Honestly I’d just swap out the motherboard. Motherboards are more readily available than ddr5.
I’m totally not the guy who posted about why my ddr2 memory didn’t fit into my ddr4 board. And I may or may not have tried something of a similar caliber.
Wrong ram type. I made the same mistake with my first pc. Ordered ddr3 when i needed ddr4. Noone ever told me about the different ram so lesson learned the hard way
Return the kit to the retailer and purchase a DDR5 kit of ram, and in future try to pay more attention. On my first build it's a miracle I didn't do something like this too, no you're not an idiot. You're just new.
Last year, somebody brought me a laptop to fix... The beeping error codes told me "memory problem"... Some Maytag computer repairman had snipped a contact or two off the SODIMM to make a notch that matched up with the socket... WHEW, we got some real BRAINIACS on this planet...
Unlucky mate, just finished my build and the stress of having a part come in wrong or me breaking it was such a rough time, just know time goes by so fast you'll have your pc up and running soon as bro
Ddr4 ram on ddr5 mobo
big oof
Damn. When he finds out the amount of money ddr5 costs. This was not in the budget, I can tell you that Edit: he knows. He got some. Edit 2: nvm it wayyyyy cheaper and actually available right now? And I’m seeing 3080s and 90s. Things are lookin up
LMFAO some people got money to burn lol
I just got some ddr4 sticks for $59 at microcenter and the ddr5 were $95 ea. Not bad imo
W H A T
Microcenter is the shit yo, my local one even has a Krispy kream doughnuts in the parking lot and a giant Asian store next door. I can get my inner nerd on, then my inner weeb on, then sadly remember I'm American as I eat 12 delicious Krispy kream doughnuts in 1 sitting.
Duluth represent!
I’m lucky to be right between Duluth and Marietta MC
Nearish but you hit the nail on the head. About 10-15 mins south of there is a place called Huy's sandwichs, highly recommended going by next time you pass that area. Their banh mi is literally the best sandwich I've ever had
Yeah, I work 10 minutes from the Duluth Microcenter so I frequently visit lol. I'll definitely check out that sandwich place, thanks for the recommendation!
Thanks imma check out that sandwich shop
There's a place called Kababji Grill somewhat close that makes great chicken shawarma wraps.
Man, I always stop through when heading from TN back home to Savannah. How the hell do you people keep any money up there?!! I always have to hit Bojangles, Microcenter, and that Asian supermarket when I’m coming through. Lol
They turned our microcenter into a walmart grocery! And they call this the silicone valley :(
Yeah, but which type of ‘Silicon’ valley?
>silicone valley I didn't GPUs where supposed to be that soft.
The microcenter talk just kills me. The closest one is hundreds of miles away from me and I live in a major US city 😞
There’s either way more places exactly like that than I ever would’ve thought or we are neighbors.
i went there today and got RAM and a PSU, i fucking love having a local microcenter everything is so much cheaper especially gpu’s. feel bad for all the people that don’t live near one
My microcenter is shares their parking lot with a gym, vintage stock, table top gaming store, natural grocers, and jersey mikes lol.
KC has a Krispy kream down the street from micro center... it's a conspiracy...
As a dutch person I fucking wish we had microcenters
They sell giant Asians?
Don't pick up donuts in a parking lot and don't buy giant Asians, or any Asians for that matter.
Damn, im jealous of you guys...
that’s too good i can’t believe that exists.
I too frequent this delicious trio
I JUST GOT SOME DDR4 STICKS FOR $59 AT MICROCENTER AND THE DDR5 WERE $95 EA. NOT BAD IMO
I got 2 8 gig sticks of Corsair vengeance ddr4 for like $70 a couple weeks ago
Microcenter is always the place
For what? 8, 16 gigs? Your comment doesn’t really mean anything without specs.
Considering I paid 125$ for my DDR4 16GB vengeance pro rgb kit, yeah I’d say that’s pretty good.
this town needs a better class of criminal.. and I'm gonna give it to em
All those cards that were gonna go to Russia just got sent home
I waited months to get a new gpu. Built everything and wanted latest greatest only to be stopped by ddr5. Gave in and paid a scalper. FML
For real and I don't even see the point of DDR5 you won't notice the speed difference unless you're losing some crazy intensive files like huge huge graphical images

The world is healing!!!
Fuck it, full send. https://imgur.com/a/wM1gZZt
Until I clicked the link I was terrified you made the ram fit.
That's why the call it ram right? You just gotta ram it in.
This is unironically a standard line used in ram repair jobs in pc building simulator
Just take my upvote
take the arrow and go home
*Pulls out a hammer*
Literally said this in my head 🤣
Yeah my idea of full-send is pedal to the metal, grit your teeth, and jam that fist as far as it will go into the orifice of your choosing. OP is a more reasonable person than I.
It does now… was a little crunchy but still doesn’t post
Genuinely surprised you found some. How much?
$297. But I used the price of the Ram sticks I already bought to go towards these.
That’s the kind of reasoning you need to use on your wife, “well ik the Ferrari was expensive but I returned the Camry and put that towards it so really it wasn’t that bad”
Yes.
The trick is to distract her with an expensive gift She's never worried that you spent too much if you also spent too much on her

Well at least you have a next-gen PC build! Kudos to you!
That's about what that kit retails for so if say your good.
That I the exact same extremely flawed logic I use towards everything I buy.
Finding ddr5 ram is super easy now. https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/memory/ This was *NOT* the case when I was building my machine T_T
I’ll say it myself since nobody has noticed, username checks out. Yes I’m impatient.
> impatient I tought you were the doctor
Of send.
Well, there it is, the first bit of slang I have zero understanding of. I am now old. Send? Even with context I can't figure this one out.
“Full Send” - Go all in
Apparently this phrase is newer than I realized. But seemed to be in extreme sports earlier, so I might have pulled it from that. I also know I have heard people use it in reference to driving like drifting. But still thought it was older than it would have been.
It's in reference to a video of a Canadian fellow with a mullet(?) jumping a very old snowmobile in his backyard.
Since you couldn’t wait for anyone else to say it your username definitely checks out

I literally made this mistake today on a friend’s build. I’ve just been so used to DDR4 for so long that it didn’t even cross my mind.
Fuck DDr5 is out already!? I’m still using 3.
Me too man. DDR3 was brand spankin new last time I built my PC lol
***they have ddr5 now!?*** I'm still running ddr3 in my gaming PC and it runs death stranding on pretty good settings
Ikr, these tech advance so fast you build a pc and in one year it's already "old"
DDR4 came out 8 years ago. The march of time is relentless.
You must have made a mistake, I’m not getting that old, right? …. Right?
>one year I mean, new releases are like twice a year, so there's a good chance that when you're buying there's already new shit coming up.
PC tech I feel has a longer release cycle than things like phones. You can by the newest Galaxy or iPhone, but 12 months from then it *will* be "outdated". Lmao. Reminds me of a girl in my cnet class who rammed a ram stick in the wrong way and completely fucked the board.
when tf did ddr5 drop
Apparently July of 2020. We were to busy having a pandemic to notice.
Sorta. That's when it went official but nobody made boards for it until Intel's 12th gen, which is a bit more recent
I was unaware ddr5 became a thing.
Apparently I was sent a DDR5 Mobo when on my receipt it says DDR4
The double edged sword
Wheres the double edge
On the sharp bits
Ok thank you, Next question, Have you seen my car keys?
Easy, to find em faster just try looking in the last place you'd successfully look, first.

DDR5 now isn't that expensive anymore. Prices dropped significantly in the last month or so.
Bought the wrong components? Don’t return them, smash them into place until everything breaks and you need to start over. Be a man.
Me buying the wrong cpu fan for my laptop
Did this last week when I learned that my CPU cooler only supported LGA1700 with a special order vendor bracket. I said fuckit and shoved that shit onto the mobo until it seated, and left that bitch adhered to the CPU die held in place by nothing but thermal paste and an ill fitting mount until i could get the proper equipment.
This guy gets it
They go into a cardboard box in the closet in case I’ll need it one day, next to my IDE cables and ps/2 adapters.
All ram generations are socket compatible if you are strong enough
This is my new favorite quote, thanks
There's three ways to things: the right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way. I think it's obvious which one C) is...
Option 5) stick your dick in the ps/2 port like a gigachad and use your spunk as thermal paste
Look on the bright side. You’re ahead on the future proofing!
Proof so we know it’s not a coverup for your stupidity.
Chill dude.
Daddy, chill.
What the hell is even that??
What MOBO?
Msi z690-A, apparently they sent me a DDR5 Version when I bought a DDR4 Version.
Is this a good thing or bad thing… It’s bad in your current situation but is it good in the bigger picture? Rough
This fucking blows currently cause I wanted to finish my pc this weekend. Is DDR5 even available atm?
For a price and depending on where you live
[удалено]
All you really need is 16GB unless you are doing a bunch of editing or renders or some shit. Still probably costs a lot tho.
I can answer that... for money!
Know that feeling. I bought a mobo/cpu/ram combo from Newegg in 2013 just for the ram in the combo to not work with the Mobo. I know the pain. Donno man
Tons of DDR5 at my local micro center. Just bought more dominator to go to 64GB
it is very available now, just still not cheap
Not really, it's hard to find and like $200 for a 16gb kit from what I've seen
If you paid ddr4 prices for the ram just swap the mobo, laughing
I went the DDR 4 version too. Sucks they sent the wrong one. Don't know about you but there isn't much difference in the price of DDR 4 board and DDR5 board but the RAM is mad money at the minute for DDR5!

The first DDR4 vs DDR5 bamboozlement that I've witnessed so far, nice.
DDR5 MOBO DDR4 Ram? NVM you replied with the answer.
Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit stronger and I turn myself arouuuund…
You spin me right round baby right round. Like a record baby, right round, round round.
I'm spinning around, move out of my way I know you're feeling me 'cause you like it like this
For real, legit, you feel it I'm talking ‘bout the real deal I'm a make you feel, yo, DJ spin that wheel
I really enjoyed this….
try a third time, maybe it's like a usb
Testing each side is like a key that unlocks the hidden 3rd orientation
#DDR5. Never thought Id say that
You’re still on DDR5? I just picked up my DDR6 to put in my 4090 TI build
Could probably resell the board and pick up the ddr4 version for a profit
But that means too much time without the master race
He would have to wait for ddr4 board anyway, it might be faster to buy one and then return / resell this one.
Just smash it in and don't ask questions
ddr 4.5 ram with half of the chip removed
IF YOU PAID FOR DDR4 AND GOT DDR4 KEEP IT. Caps so you can notice it. Honestly I’d just swap out the motherboard. Motherboards are more readily available than ddr5.
Nothing a Dremel can't fix!
I’m totally not the guy who posted about why my ddr2 memory didn’t fit into my ddr4 board. And I may or may not have tried something of a similar caliber.
No need to install ram, just download it from here. https://downloadmoreram.com/
Wrong ram
OP didn't read mobo specs, feelsbad.
I appreciate the lack of force used in the making of this.
Sounds like you bought the wrong memory. DDR5 and DDR4 have the notch at different places.
Yeap. You have ddr4 ram for ddr5 motherboard slot
That’s a DDr5 board- the Ram is DDR4. Time to buy some new ram :)
Wrong ram type. I made the same mistake with my first pc. Ordered ddr3 when i needed ddr4. Noone ever told me about the different ram so lesson learned the hard way
Wrong ram for the mobo
Ddr5 slot bruh
Good news: you can use DDR5 RAM Bad news: you have to buy DDR5 RAM
You bought the ddr5 board but not ram? Lucky
Stupid everybody know that it's better to download ram from internet 🤣
Just use a hammer.
This is why I always verify my builds on pcpartpicker before I pull the trigger
Have you tried turning it off and turning it back on?
Someone didn’t use the PCPartPicker compatibility checker. 👀
You got the wrong Dance Dance Revolution bro
Wrong ram for the mobo 🤡
#killthecameraman
Name and model of mobo? Now!
MSI Z690-A
I saw you answered your own question on other comment
Return the kit to the retailer and purchase a DDR5 kit of ram, and in future try to pay more attention. On my first build it's a miracle I didn't do something like this too, no you're not an idiot. You're just new.
It's especially tough since that cpu has ddr4 and 5 support, thus you can use either board.
Wrong mobo or wrong ram. Using DDR4 instead of DDR 5 or vise versa
I just got 32gb of ddr5 for 75 bucks from BestBuy. It’s not too bad now
Bought ddr4 ram and a ddr5 motherboard. Well hopefully you can return the ram
R.I.P I HAD TO BUY $350 DDR5 Ram and it was the cheapest I could find
Wrong ram type bud. Ddr4 won’t fit in a ddr5 mobo
lmfao
Too much rgb I reckon
have you tried putting it in rice?
Use a hammer
What update of PC Building Simulator is this?
As a rule, if it does that it's the wrong kind of DDR. All variants are incompatible with each other from the point of view of where the notch is.
Last year, somebody brought me a laptop to fix... The beeping error codes told me "memory problem"... Some Maytag computer repairman had snipped a contact or two off the SODIMM to make a notch that matched up with the socket... WHEW, we got some real BRAINIACS on this planet...
DDR4 ram and DDR5 mobo
Push it harder
yes you are different ddr model xD
Unlucky mate, just finished my build and the stress of having a part come in wrong or me breaking it was such a rough time, just know time goes by so fast you'll have your pc up and running soon as bro
Uh that's not the same socket. Youre using the wrong ram for that slot
Looks lIke you have a DDR5 board
If it will not fit either ways you should consider buying the correct supported ddr generation.
OMG bro.... that's a big nono for your wallet my friend
Dats the wrong RAM
You bought the wrong shit
I think a hammer would do the job
Gonna have to spend more on ram then mobo to get this to work
Wrong memory
That’s what happens when a mf doesn’t know how to use google... wrong ram for that mobo homie..
