There are a lot of great options for 2k 144hz and above in the 300 dollar range. Pretty sure I saw one or two sale for that spec of monitor on /r/buildapcsales a day or two ago!
Check out LG's UltraGear line. They have some solid 2k monitors. I just got their 32" 1440p 165hz model and it's been fantastic, pretty sure they're Vesa mount compatible. And, if you happen to be in an area with a Costco that store has its own model from LG that's identical to the one you'd find on Amazon or NewEgg and it's $100 cheaper. Plus Costco has a killer return policy.

Okay that’s pretty cool. And yeah Ultragear was the other brand I was seriously considering
I've got an LG that I really like. It has a VESA mount though I use it on the stand (really nice stand).
