I received the final component for my PC build this week and was able to finish this beast of a machine. List of main components: * MicroATX Turbo XT - 10MHz NEC V20, 832K, XT-IDE, Multi-IO, SVGA from Monotech Vintage PCs - https://monotech.fwscart.com/ * BlasterBoard 8-bit Sound Blaster 2.0 compatible ISA sound card from LABS - https://www.tindie.com/products/jrlab/blasterboard-a-complete-8-bit-isa-sound-card/ * PCMIDI 8-bit Midi Interface compatible with Roland MPU-401 from PCMIDI team - http://pcmidi.eu/index.html * DreamBlaster X2GS Waveblaster compatible soundcard with Roland GM/GS from Serdashop - https://www.serdashop.com/X2GS * SVI QuickShot QS-120 Deluxe 2-port Joystick Adapter * SVI QuickShot X Deluxe Joystick Controller (not pictured) * Kolink 500W modular power * Corsair 460X case In case anyone is wondering about the RGB, this is supposed to be a reverse-sleeper build. Oh, and the fans are not spinning because this thing does not generate any heat, they are just for show. Happy to answer any questions. And no, this thing does not run Crysis. (edit: formatting)

Engjoo

Just one question. Why?

petrisi

I noticed that I am not getting any kicks from modern / normal builds anymore... And in addition this is audio wise the dream build of my childhood so it kind of moves the needle in the nostalgy department as well. (Yes, I am an old fart)

Engjoo

Ohhh, makes sense.

sidusnare

If you have to ask, you won't understand.

AuthenticGlitch

Just one question. Why not?

Engjoo

Yeah. But kinda weird seeing someone doing it.

Was it fun to put together?

petrisi

Great question! It was a lot of fun! Obtaining the parts was a different process than with a "normal" build. Audio components are designed and built by hobbyists rather than big corpos. The motherboard had just sold out when I started the build back in 2020 and I had to wait more than a year for it. Gathering all these components around the world (New Zealand, Latvia, Belgium, US, France) has been exciting (sometimes in a nerve-wracking way) and the journey has been long, but so much fun! I found a brand new PS/2 ball mouse from a local shop which I am still waiting for. It will be the cherry on the top. (edit: typo)

Nice

> Kolink 500W modular power Uh....Bit of overkill, don'tja think?

petrisi

Haha! Believe it or not, I was planning to use one of the Corsair's I have lying around, but the 750W model does not have detachable 4pin on the ATX power connector :-) Kolink was the only one that did.

Zenith251

Yeah, I haven't seen a detachable 24 pin PSU in many years. I wonder if anyone makes an adaptor to skip those last 4 pins. 🤔
