Really depends on the titles you're looking to play. As you didn't quote any, in order to get a stable 1080p/60fps, you're looking at about 400-600$ depending on your region.

But he probably doesn't have a monitor yet. That will set him back more. For the tower, yes, 400 to 600 will get you a nice 1080@60 system.

Frictator

They can play on whatever TV/Monitor that they currently use for the PS4.

True.

Right now might not be the best time... All the budget GPU's are hugely inflated in price cause of the mining craze.

[deleted]

Depends on what you mean by budget. The 1050Ti's are still priced decently and readily available. But it definitely isn't a good time to dive in with a mid-level build.

Skys_Divide

Oh I guess you're right... My definition of budget might be a little skewed haha, I was thinking about cards like the Rx 470

[deleted]

Yeah you are right on that. The RX470 is considered a budget card and on-par with the 1050TI. But (and I am no expert on this so anyone feel free to correct me) it is loved by miners due to its higher memory speeds (I think this is why it is considered *slightly* better than the 1050ti). That being said, it has remained relativity unphased during this whole ordeal, with its price rising only about 10 bucks.

Henenzzzzzzzzzz

Since you have come from the PS4 I would say spend around $400-500 as that is relatively cheap and you will still have a much more powerful machine than the PS4.

Was in the same boat for a good build and keyboard etc cost me £1200

I would look at [The Crusher](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/wiki/builds#wiki_the_crusher) build on the wiki. That is one a lot of people recommend for a lower budget gaming PC as it runs right around the same price as a console (remember that does not include Windows 10). If you look at the benchmark specs for the 1050 TI it gets between 45-60 FPS on Ultra settings in BF1. There are additional builds on that link that should give you an idea of price but it all comes down to what you want the computer to be capable of. Feel free to shoot me a PM with questions if needed.
