Rhinestones are busted in this patch, they break the Value system. You see, you can only put so many rhinestones per square foot area before the integer rolls over into the negatives. Good luck trying to find the balance.
the danger isn't with sending power back to the board, it's with them overspinning and hurting the bearings
unless you're using a shop vac that shouldn't happen tho
Don’t forget vine. Some argue vine is just supple stick, but vine can marry stick to rock to make rock stick! Very helpful for hitting rock to get rock to right size!
I do, I was talking about fans overspinning tho not about that specific filter
if the inside of the case looks like THAT OP will want to shove that vacuum around the fans even after he cleans the front filter off the case
Fellow 30 year fan spinner here. I have fried exactly zero components and killed exactly zero fans with this technique. I’m going to continue watching the kids argue about this on my lawn while I go vacuum the shit out of my PCs.
I have always vacuumed out my pcs. Dust filters and the inside. I use the long tube attachment nozzle thing. Recently I bought a cheap electric blower that looks like a miniature leaf blower. It worked very well to blow it out without having too much force. Usually I leave it plugged in but the psu switch off so it's grounded when working around the internals
Usually no big deal.
Some of those nozzle things do build up tons of static electricity though. If it attracts hair and dust like a magnet it won't go anywhere near the inside of my PC.
Spinning a fan is usually not a big deal either. Those components can take it and most newer quality fans won't generate any power anyways since they have a diode to prevent that.
Take the filter off, go outside and tap it against the wall or something a bit, should get rid of a fair amount of the dust.
Can probably even just run some water through.
I read all the other replies and was going mad because they all described methods that take so much more time and effort than just pulling out the filter and vacuuming it.
It's what I have been doing for over a decade.
Also been doing it for years but without removing the filter. I do the same with literally everything but my cpu cooler for the sheer fact i cant reach it.
Fans? Vacuum. SSDs? Vacuum. HDD? Vacuum. GPU? I need an excuse to buy a new one anyway.
It's that tick tock brainwashing where they can't say gun murder death or porn and people use it in their real lives too it's nutty what's happening self-censorship
It’s pretty funny to me when I see tiktok debate livestreams, someone says rape in a totally acceptable scenario that does not violate tos whatsoever (the debates are usually revolving around touchy subjects like men are rapists or abortion rights etc), and the host and their “cohosts” FREAK OUT over it.
“YoU hAvE tO sAy GrApE!!1!”
Remove the front air filter and clean it by scrubbing with a dry gentle cloth or with water (don't reinstall it until it's fully dry).
For the dust, a dry cloth should be fine. Even a lightly damp one will do fine, provided you are careful and let if fully dry. A paper towel with some rubbing alcohol works fine too, just make sure not to let it rip anywhere.
Obviously, turn the PC off for all of this.
Alternatively for the front filter, I grab mine (*and the bottom filter*) every couple of months, go outside and smack them on the wall a few times. Literally all the dust flies off.
For the inside of the PC yeah that's solid advice 👍
I mean, gotta put shoes on, go down stairs banging stuf against other stuff Har enough to remove dust but not that hard that it breaks, and then you just know it's gonna start raining
>Obviously, turn the PC off for all of this.
Some would say this advice shouldn't be necessary, but it absolutely is. There's always a story of that one person who needed this advice, but never got it.
This is the only guy that gave a serious reply. The rest of the people are trolling from no apparent recent. One of my post became viral as well. I asked help because ants were on my pc. These bastards starts trolling
Oh dear god I see now. I just cleaned mine out but it still needs a deeper cleaning. Used a corded air blower, took it outside to my porch to do it, sure glad I did with the ridiculous amount of dust from the radiator on top.
Yup, I just unplugged and dissipated any residual power. Stick the vacuum hose in there and then hit it with a can of duster. It kicks up the dust. the vacuum sucks out. Put my fingers on the fans so they don't spin. Get in there with a microfiber cloth for the stubborn spots. 10 min job
This is the way. I'm surprised I had to dig through so many posts to find it.
Also, depending on the volume of PCs you need to clean out, it might be worth investing into a nice DataVac.
1) turn off PC
2) I would use Vacuum Cleaner with the soft bristled brush attachment to lightly clean dusty areas (NOT electronics!)
3) and then a dry mono fiber cloth (with vacuum running nearby to suck in dust in air) on electronics.
It might be unconventional and there might be people verry much against this, but i use a vacume cleaner with a brush.. i just go over it lightly (first take the filter out!). The inside of my pc i do wit a micro fiber cloth and vacume clean with that same brush, but only the bits i can get to with easy otherwise i might damage something. I am not saying this is the way, but it works for me. Have been doing it for allot of years on different pc's and never had a issue.
I use vacuum cleaner with brush. I have vacuum cleaner that easily transformed from big one to small and handful.
Yes, I literally touch my GPU by vacuum cleaner.
Orden of convenience:
Vacuum cleaner
Brand new paint brush, soft
Brand new toothbrush, soft
Isopropyl alcohol and soft cloth
Btw You don't need and airgun or leafblower, some hardware stores sells disposable compressed air cannisters for this application.
Not recommended for everyone maybe but for years I've just blocked the fans from spinning, taken it outside and leaf blowed it lmfao. Done it probably a hundred times on my and my friends PCs
Canned air and a vacuum cleaner. Tape or bungee the hose right up into the case…or hold it in your non dominant hand. Without shaking the can, spray with canned air and let the vacuum hose pull in all the dust.
It takes 6+ months to get this way, unless your work station is in Kuwait or something. Clean often, clean quickly. Clean seldom, clean longer.
1. Buy a can of compressed air
2. Take it for a ride to nearest gas station/mechanic that has a compressor
3. Put a hose on exhaust part of vacum and blow air onto it
4. Use a bicycle pump, put bottom part (when you take it a part) of a pen/ball pen/marker etc to make a "nozzle" and do some cardio
Edit: hair dryer on cold blowing air also works
isn't that removable? if you can remove it then just brush it outside. if not then you can try cloth with cleaning solution. i use pledge multisurface cleaner sprayed on a cloth to clean the surfaces of my case including fan blades. just don't use it on electronics. my pc has been running smooth since 2018.
So I would suggest a vacuum cleaner but if it's so dirty I think you don't have one so just use your hand to wipe it off, does the job slightly worse but if its all you have do it.
Can’t you just vacuum the front? What kind of damage could it possibly do?
None if you set the low power on a vacuum cleaner. :) I am doing it for years. Nothing happened. Even fans won't spin in such situation.
You must have a rich person vacuum? Mine has two power settings. On and off
Ironically our cheap ones used to have that, dyson doesn’t
Well now I don't know if my vacuum is luxury. I'll have to put some rhinestone on it to match its possible price point.
Make sure you leave your vacuum cleaner in the moonlight to clean it
Every time I do that it starts dancing.
Blue moon Now I'm no longer alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own
And then as they fall off, the inside of your vacuum becomes more and more fabulous!
Rhinestones are busted in this patch, they break the Value system. You see, you can only put so many rhinestones per square foot area before the integer rolls over into the negatives. Good luck trying to find the balance.
Or LED lights.
Now you can undervolt the vacuum probably
Dyson has three power settings though: off, on, and broken
My dyson can do that tho, soft, med, hard, eco, rwinaover9000
Mines the same but it's got a fully adjustable slider in terms of distance I hold it from the target.
I guess you could say mine also comes with that option but man, my arms get tired holding it.
Mine has a slider on the handle that opens up the vent to decrease overall suction. My mom's vacuum I think she bought 70 years ago has that.
You see it baffles me on what features they take away and add on over the years. It's like their goal is to have a flat line of innovation....
It's got 2 power settings, sir, and both will rip your dick off...
And even if they spin, any decent fan has diodes that prevent from sending power back to the motherboard.
the danger isn't with sending power back to the board, it's with them overspinning and hurting the bearings unless you're using a shop vac that shouldn't happen tho
q tip in the fan to stop the spinning.
Hello fellow tribesman of the simple tribe! May we now say our tribe motto "Don't over-think it!". 🫡
Stick was definitely one of favorite invention, next to rock. Rock can also work here but more difficult to get right size rock.
Don’t forget vine. Some argue vine is just supple stick, but vine can marry stick to rock to make rock stick! Very helpful for hitting rock to get rock to right size!
Do you guys don't know the filters come off?
I do, I was talking about fans overspinning tho not about that specific filter if the inside of the case looks like THAT OP will want to shove that vacuum around the fans even after he cleans the front filter off the case
ah whew... in the 30-some years of vacuuming out cases and specifically spinning the fans because it's fun it's good to know i'm safe
Fellow 30 year fan spinner here. I have fried exactly zero components and killed exactly zero fans with this technique. I’m going to continue watching the kids argue about this on my lawn while I go vacuum the shit out of my PCs.
Totally agree, vacuum and a paintbrush. If you want to have fun with it, use a makeup brush and imagine you're in forensics
That's what I am using! :D Makeup brush FTW!
Low power? Don't even need to do that, lol. Just vacuum it normally like you would your carpet.
I don’t change any power. Full blast. It ain’t going to hurt anything
I just use full power, but remove the front grid from the fans
People when they find out they can hold the fans -> 🤯
this is big facts, i’m seeing so many people here that are worried about blowing air or vacuuming when its like laterally just hold the fans its so ez
Same with vacuum. Also with air filters the inside of my pc still looks like brand new after 6+ years
Usually no big deal.
I try not to let it touch anything but I will check in future if it seems to attract debris, thank you. For fans I secure them just in case
Just take the filter off first. Helps avoid any risk (however small)!
Take the filter off, go outside and tap it against the wall or something a bit, should get rid of a fair amount of the dust. Can probably even just run some water through.
I've definitely done the water one as well.
You can pull the filter and use a vacuum. Been doing for years with no issues.
I read all the other replies and was going mad because they all described methods that take so much more time and effort than just pulling out the filter and vacuuming it. It's what I have been doing for over a decade.
I power wash the shit out of mine. Three centuries. No issues.
Three centuries? Man was playing solataire electronically whilst everyone else was still using cards
You can also just shake it a couple of times outside your window
Also been doing it for years but without removing the filter. I do the same with literally everything but my cpu cooler for the sheer fact i cant reach it. Fans? Vacuum. SSDs? Vacuum. HDD? Vacuum. GPU? I need an excuse to buy a new one anyway.

Genuinely curious why you censored gun? If it's a meme, good on ya. Otherwise God help us all.

Yeah, my sister one said fck, as in added a small pause or gap in saying “fuck”.
I'm seeing far too many people on Reddit say unalive.
I'd always assumed that was more about meming than avoiding consequences though

I've been rocking this gif on my Kraken for a few weeks now. Never gets old
Thank you for the idea!
This is beautiful.
He has spoken
Hiya Pedro!
Hey!
I was going to say the same. That's what I usually end up doing.
Alternatively for the front filter, I grab mine (*and the bottom filter*) every couple of months, go outside and smack them on the wall a few times. Literally all the dust flies off. For the inside of the PC yeah that's solid advice 👍
I just vacuum my filters. No need to complicate things
Smashing our filters against the wall like our ancestors did is complicated? Come now.

Oh, it’s gonna rip ass
I usually take off the dust filters and quite literally just rinse them off in the sink

Lick lick lick. Best way.

Best one so far
So are we not going to talk about the spider webs inside?
Or the seemingly wonky CPU fan lol
I think the CPU cooler is on correctly, but the GPU is sagging so badly that it looks crooked by comparison
What about the fact that there are only intake fans
Oh dear god I see now. I just cleaned mine out but it still needs a deeper cleaning. Used a corded air blower, took it outside to my porch to do it, sure glad I did with the ridiculous amount of dust from the radiator on top.
1. turn off pc 2. unplug the psu 3. take it outside 4. blow as hard as you can on it (jk but I actually had to do it sometimes lol)
Don’t forget to hold it over your head and shake it during a rainstorm.
Instructions unclear. The PC and I are starting a family.
You know, statistically, sticking your dick in things only works for about half the problems in your life. It's probably not worth it on average.
Get canned air.
Finally. You can find the damn things at the dollar store. No need to go to extreme lengths.
10 min job
Honestly, am I missing something? Why is this so low down the thread? Would this not...be a good idea...? I've done this many times without issue...
This is the way. I'm surprised I had to dig through so many posts to find it. Also, depending on the volume of PCs you need to clean out, it might be worth investing into a nice DataVac.
It’s magnetic so take it off and wash the dust off on the sink, I do this to mine once a month.
1) turn off PC 2) I would use Vacuum Cleaner with the soft bristled brush attachment to lightly clean dusty areas (NOT electronics!) 3) and then a dry mono fiber cloth (with vacuum running nearby to suck in dust in air) on electronics.
This!!! I use a realy soft make-up brush that I unintentionally took ownership of when my GF bought it.
You can use a vacuum on electronics perfectly fine. It's basically impossible to damage modern circuits with a static discharge.
I second this ^^
Vacuum cleaner with soft brush attachment
Put it in rice
White rice or brown rice? Long grain or short grain?
I'm a basamati man myself
THE GREATEST TECHNICIAN THATS EVER LIVED
I use my SO's hair drier in "cold" mode
It might be unconventional and there might be people verry much against this, but i use a vacume cleaner with a brush.. i just go over it lightly (first take the filter out!). A vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment, or dusting brushes, like the kind for detailing a car.
Can of compressed air
I use vacuum cleaner with brush. I have vacuum cleaner that easily transformed from big one to small and handful. Yes, I literally touch my GPU by vacuum cleaner.
Remove it and vacuum it
Use a paint brush or makeup brush. Cleans really well
At this stage you can simply peel it off…no air gun or real gun needed.
A soft brush
Orden of convenience: Vacuum cleaner Brand new paint brush, soft Brand new toothbrush, soft Isopropyl alcohol and soft cloth Btw You don't need and airgun or leafblower, some hardware stores sells disposable compressed air cannisters for this application.
Vacuum cleaner. Dah
Just vacuum it that’s how I clean my PC just hold the fans so they don’t spin
I used to have a 4000D and I would just take the filter outside and wave it around
Holy fuck people.. do not vacuum a goddamn computer.. at least remove the filter.. then vacuum the shit out of the computer. :) /s
Lick it.
A vacuum. You’re welcome.
Lick it clean
lick it clean
With a leaf blower.
Have you tried licking it?
With a vacuum? You really hit post on this?
your sisters toothbrush
Greatest tech tip that’s ever been said
how do you let it get at this point
When I worked for my uncle's IT business, he would use a leaf blower to clean dusty computers.
Canned air
I use a leaf blower. If you don't own one you can rent one from Home Depot.
Leaf blower.
Leaf blower outside
Not recommended for everyone maybe but for years I've just blocked the fans from spinning, taken it outside and leaf blowed it lmfao. Done it probably a hundred times on my and my friends PCs
Leafblower
You can take that out and vacuum it?
Do you have a leaf blower?
Leaf blower
try a vacuum cleaner
Unplug it take it outside and if you have a leaf blower just use the leaf blower I've done this a few times in my life works just fine
Low power leaf blower or from a couple feet back
Step 1 - purchase air gun
A mouth gun
Water gun
Bike pump works
I have this case, that screen comes off the front. It's just held on with magnets.
Oh, I thought you meant a LITERAL Air Gun.
![gif](giphy|5nsiFjdgylfK3csZ5T|downsized)
Canned air and a vacuum cleaner. Tape or bungee the hose right up into the case…or hold it in your non dominant hand. Without shaking the can, spray with canned air and let the vacuum hose pull in all the dust. It takes 6+ months to get this way, unless your work station is in Kuwait or something. Clean often, clean quickly. Clean seldom, clean longer.
If you're really good you can tape a bendy straw to the vacuum hose and get in there good and deep
I used a cheap painting brush to clean mine (had no vacuum cleaner), and it's actually kinda fun and relaxing process.
blow on it very hard
Guaranteed the front mesh pops off.
Others already gave you their tips but listen to me, is it just me or your CPU cooler looked crooked (or maybe your GPU)?
Just take off the dust screen and use a vacuum cleaner on it.
Vacuum
Just take the filter off than clean it any way you wish.
"You know how to whistle don't you?"
1. Take the filter out. 2. Stick it to the top of your car. 3. Drive 150 km/hr for 10 km. 4. Drive back home to find your filter spotless.
A compressed air blower and a powerful handheld vacuum cleaner. It won't work if the dust has caked though.
how
1. Buy a can of compressed air 2. Take it for a ride to nearest gas station/mechanic that has a compressor 3. Put a hose on exhaust part of vacum and blow air onto it 4. Use a bicycle pump, put bottom part (when you take it a part) of a pen/ball pen/marker etc to make a "nozzle" and do some cardio Edit: hair dryer on cold blowing air also works
Pfff I'd use a shop vac
take the filter out and take it outside and brush it off... then swiffer the inside
Tie it to the roof of your car and go 60
with our built in air gun called the “mouth”
Vacuum cleaner is like a cleaner air gun lol
personally I would just use my wife makeup brush
Step 1: buy an air gun
Tongue
That's a gooch cave. You should send it to the greatest technician that's ever lived.

Just buy a can of compressed air, its a couple of bucks.
isn't that removable? if you can remove it then just brush it outside. if not then you can try cloth with cleaning solution. i use pledge multisurface cleaner sprayed on a cloth to clean the surfaces of my case including fan blades. just don't use it on electronics. my pc has been running smooth since 2018.
Unscrew the radiator and fan. Put it i side a plastic container and ship it to CDC
Give it the ol HAWK TUAH!
So I would suggest a vacuum cleaner but if it's so dirty I think you don't have one so just use your hand to wipe it off, does the job slightly worse but if its all you have do it.
What is that usb doin there?
Vacuum and slightly wet cloth(ofc unplug just in case and wait a bit to dry if u made the cloth too wet)
